Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez Calls for Ending Online Anonymity, Linking Social Media to Digital ID

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has addressed the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) to attack online anonymity and make a number of radical comments concerning “misinformation” and the nature and in his view, the extremely negative impact of social media. Sanchez wants to end anonymity on these platforms, replace it with, in his own words, “pseudonymity” – and force platforms to link all accounts to a European Digital Identity Wallet. The result would be the ability of the authorities to know real life identities of every social media user, while those users would still be allowed to use nicknames “if they want” instead of their real names online, the Spanish prime minister said. https://video.reclaimthenet.org/articles/sanchez-online-anon.mp4 He considers this to be an example of “accountability” that in no way undermines freedom of speech – according to him, it is in fact, and somehow – “an essential compliment” to free expression. Sanchez picked the examples that politicians pushing for similar policies always do, to make them appear more palatable – solving crimes and protecting minors. Sanchez also sees anonymity as “paving the way for misinformation, hate speech and cyber harassment.” While unmasking all social media users to the government unavoidably deeply undermines their privacy, the prime minister decided to go for the fallacy that privacy is possible without anonymity. Other than promoting this idea of what one might call “pseudoprivacy,” Sanchez also went after social media owners and CEOs (whom he referred to as “tycoons”), accusing the companies behind the platforms of concentrating “power and wealth in the hands of just a few.” But he didn’t voice a similar complaint about the legacy media ecosystem that operates along the same lines, while also being considerably less diverse in terms of speech and opinion. Sanchez treats social media as a “threat” that needs to be fought and “faced head-on” by world leaders and proposes holding CEOs “personally accountable for noncompliance with laws and norms in their platforms” as one (intimidation) tactic. His speech is littered with alarmist language, likening social platforms to “invaders concealed in the belly of a Trojan horse” that fuel misinformation, cyberbullying, hate speech, sex offenses, privacy violations, anxiety, violence, loneliness – not to mention, “harming the liberal order and democracy.” But at one point, Sanchez reveals the gist of his impassioned complaints against social media, when he tells his Davos audience, “Let’s take back control.” If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Joy Reid Thinks You're Dumb, Says DEI Is About Helping 'Disabled Veterans'

Joy Reid Thinks You're Dumb, Says DEI Is About Helping 'Disabled Veterans'

MSNBC’s Joy Reid and her Wednesday guest, National President of the American Federation of Government Employees Everett Kelley, think you are stupid. On The ReidOut, the duo reacted to President Donald Trump ordering the end of DEI offices across the federal government by claiming such moves represent an attack on “disabled veterans.” Reid began by wondering, “This memo, we can put it up on screen, and it went to all heads and acting heads of departments and agencies, shuttering DEI offices and other things. What is the union's response going to be?” Kelley began by claiming, “We have an obligation to educate the public as to what DEI really is because, number one, it's not affirmative action as some might think.”     He added that “DEI is about making sure that, say, a veteran may have a handicap, an injury from the services, and come to work for the federal government. DEI would make sure that that veteran has the, I guess, I would say the opportunity to work in a job, and they were placed in a position where they could accommodate that veteran and so that they can do their job. So, DEI is about that and about providing services for workers. It's not about the color of a person's skin.” Nobody believes that. You can’t spend years claiming that equity is about fixing systemic racism, which you define as overcoming “unconscious bias” and the existence of any statistical difference between white people and non-white people and then claim that DEI is a patriotic program to help those who were injured in the service of their country when people reject it. Still, Reid followed up, “And it's not a quota program. Let's just be clear... I think for a lot of conservatives, they believe DEI just means black people getting jobs, and so when they see a black person in any job, they say, ‘Oh, that person's a DEI hire.’ They said it about the literal elected vice president of the United States. They said it about the literal elected vice president of the United States. She wasn't hired. She was hired by the American people. Eighty million Americans voted and voted for her, but they can't see through her race and gender. So, it isn't just about hiring black people and women, right?” Joe Biden explicitly promised to name a woman as his running mate, so if Reid should be mad at anyone for only seeing Kamala Harris’s gender, it’s him. Nevertheless, Reid kept going, “It's about disabled veterans being accommodated. It's veterans returning from wars are also under DEI.” Kelley echoed the idea, “Absolutely. And I see that as a veteran myself. Right. I see this initiative as a direct impact and attack on veterans. Of the 2.2 million federal workers, 642,000 of those are veterans, and so this is in my way of viewing this, is a direct attack against veterans as well. You know, the misunderstanding of what DEI really is. You know, it's on us to really educate the public as to what it really is all about.” It’s funny how during all the previous DEI discussions, nobody ever brought up disabled veterans, but now that it's under threat, a new talking point has emerged. Here is a transcript for the January 22 show: MSNBC The Reid 1/22/2025 7:21 PM ET JOY REID: This memo, we can put it up on screen, and it went to all heads and acting heads of departments and agencies, shuttering DEI offices and other things. What is the union's response going to be? EVERETT KELLEY: Well, first of all, I think that we have an obligation to educate the public as to what DEI really is because, number one, it's not affirmative action as some might think. DEI is about making sure that, say, a veteran may have a handicap, an injury from the services, and come to work for the federal government. DEI would make sure that that veteran has the, I guess, I would say the opportunity to work in a job, and they were placed in a position where they could accommodate that veteran and so that they can do their job. So, DEI is about that and about providing services for workers. It's not about the color of a person's skin. REID: And it's not a quota program. Let's just be clear. KELLEY: Absolutely. REID: It means that you know not and it also I think for a lot of conservatives— KELLEY: Okay. REID: -- they believe DEI just means black people getting jobs, and so when they see a black person in any job, they say, “Oh, that person's a DEI hire.” They said it about the literal elected vice president of the United States. KELLEY: Absolutely REID: She wasn't hired. She was hired by the American people. Eighty million Americans voted and voted for her, but they can't see through her race and gender. So, it isn't just about hiring black people and women, right?  KELLEY: That's right. REID: It's about disabled veterans being accommodated. It's veterans returning from wars are also under DEI. KELLEY: Absolutely. And I see that as a veteran myself. Right. I see this initiative as a direct impact and attack on veterans. John Brennan tries slithering around true nature of Hunter Biden laptop letter after losing security clearance

John Brennan, former director of the CIA and chief counterterrorism adviser to former President Barack Obama, appeared bent out of shape in an interview following President Donald Trump's removal of his security clearance. The 69-year-old deep-stater suggested that his continued access was a benefit to the government and that its withdrawal was not the result of his having misled the nation in 2020 but instead an act of "revenge" in response to his criticism of the president. The letter Brennan was among the 51 signatories of an Oct. 19, 2020, letter aimed at discrediting the New York Post's Oct. 14 report about the discovery and damning contents of Hunter Biden's laptop, which the FBI "verified" one year earlier. The letter Brennan gladly put his name to claimed that the story was likely a thing of Slavic fantasy — that the story had "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation" and that the damning emails on the laptop discussed by the Post were manufactured in an attempt to influence how Americans would vote in the election. The liberal media dutifully picked up on the intel officials' framing. Politico, for instance, titled its write-up, "Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say." 'The faith of Americans in all other patriotic intelligence professionals who are sworn to protect the Nation has been imperiled.' Then-presidential candidate Joe Biden was quick to put the combined efforts of anti-Trump intelligence officials and the liberal media to work for his campaign, referring to the letter in his first debate with Trump on Oct. 22, 2020. Although former Secretary of State Antony Blinken has denied doing so, the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government indicated in 2023 that Blinken, at the time an adviser to the Biden campaign, got the ball rolling on the letter. Just as Blinken was apparently rewarded for his commitment to Biden's success in the 2020 election, Brennan was later appointed to the Biden Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Intelligence Experts Group. The executive order In his Monday executive order titled, "Holding former government officials accountable for election interference and improper disclosure of sensitive governmental information," Trump noted that "federal policymakers must be able to rely on analysis conducted by the Intelligence Community and be confident that it is accurate, crafted with professionalism, and free from politically motivated engineering to affect political outcomes in the United States." "The signatories willfully weaponized the gravitas of the Intelligence Community to manipulate the political process and undermine our democratic institutions," continued the president. "This fabrication of the imprimatur of the Intelligence Community to suppress information essential to the American people during a Presidential election is an egregious breach of trust reminiscent of a third world country. And now the faith of Americans in all other patriotic intelligence professionals who are sworn to protect the Nation has been imperiled." Brennan showed up fourth from the top on Trump's list of former spooks whose clearances would be revoked. In addition to tearing up the former intel officials' security clearances, Trump tasked his incoming director of national intelligence — possibly Tulsi Gabbard, whose candidacy and capabilities Brennan has criticized — with reporting to him on whether there should be any disciplinary action "that should be taken against anyone who engaged in inappropriate conduct related to the letter signed by the 51 former intelligence officials." The spy's spin Brennan told MSNBC Tuesday that he has kept his clearance for as long as he has "for the benefit of the government — so that if the CIA or another government agency wanted to call me in to discuss a classified matter, they could do that." Apparently failing to grasp that the people's government no longer wants his misleading input, Brennan called Trump's executive order "bizarre among the many bizarre executive orders that he had signed out." Brennan claimed that Trump "misrepresented the facts in that executive order 'cause it said we had suggested that the Hunter Biden laptop story was disinformation. No, we said it bore the hallmarks of Russian information operations, including the dumping of accurate information." Brennan neglected to mention that his letter concluded with a quote suggesting that the material in the Post story was "part of a smoke bomb of disinformation pushed by Russia" or that there was apparently no effort on his part or the part of other signatories to correct Politico's framing of their letter, which, again, stated, "Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo." Unwilling to admit the letter's misleading and tactical nature, Brennan suggested that Trump's push for accountability is "just his effort to try to get back at those individuals who have criticized him openly and publicly in the past." SCANDAL: A witch presides over the National Cathedral

President Trump and Vice President Vance attended a so-called prayer service at the National Cathedral, and Aaron McIntire of the “Steve Deace Show” believes the occasion illustrated “just how far down the rot of progressivism and Marxism goes.” McIntire explains that the pair, as well as their families, were “hectored by a literal witch,” who was “spewing demonic garbage.” “In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families. Some who fear for their lives,” Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde said. “And the people, the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals, they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals,” she continued, as Trump and Vance looked on. Immediately after the sermon, Trump asked reporters, “What did you think? Did you like it? You find it exciting? Not too exciting, was it? I didn't think it was a good service." After the sermon went viral online, President Trump took to Truth Social to call the bishop a “Radical Left hard line Trump hater.” "She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way," he wrote on Truth Social. "She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart. She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people. Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!" Denver Mayor Johnston reverses sanctuary stance, agrees to work with ICE amid pressure from Trump's DOJ

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston (D), who previously vowed to stop President Donald Trump's deportation efforts, appears to have backed down from his sanctuary stance amid pressure from the Department of Justice.During a Wednesday interview with KDVR, Johnston stated that Denver would cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in certain circumstances.'If we have someone in custody that ICE is looking for they could reach out to us and we can release them.'In the case of illegal aliens who have committed additional crimes in the United States, Johnston said Denver would notify ICE about their scheduled release.Yet Johnston also claimed that Denver's hands are tied by sanctuary state law."The whole state is bound by our state law in this, which is pretty consistent in some of these practices like everywhere in the state, we don't honor ICE detainers," Johnston told KDVR. "If ICE calls and says, 'Will you hold someone for three more days?' That doesn't happen in Douglas County or Yuma or in Denver. A lot of these practices are similar statewide, but we think ours finds a common-sense balance of making sure we're not having our local police doing federal law enforcement, that's not our job, we're not going to do ICE's job for them. But, if they call for information on folks we have in custody, we'll let them know when we're releasing them."ICE's detainers request local jails hold criminal illegal aliens up to 48 hours after their scheduled release — not three days, as Johnston indicated. "We think our values are not going to change. We think we want to be both a welcoming city, and a city that serves all of our residents," Johnston continued. "We're not going to be bullied or blackmailed into changing our policies but we think our policies serve everyone well right now."He stated that local law enforcement officials do not request immigration status when pulling over a vehicle for a traffic infraction but noted that "if we have someone in custody that ICE is looking for they could reach out to us and we can release them to them when they get released from our jails."Johnston's Wednesday comments appear to be a departure from his statements in November to the Denverite. At that time, the mayor implied that he would use local law enforcement officers to create a blockade against Trump's federal immigration agents."More than us having DPD [Denver Police Department] stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there," he stated. "It's like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You'd have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them."In a subsequent interview, Johnston attempted to walk back the statements, claiming he had "no plan" to deploy police officers on the county line. He also noted that he planned to join Denver residents protesting Trump's deportations."If I think things are happening that are illegal or immoral or un-American in our city, I would certainly protest it, and I would expect other residents would do the same," Johnston said. He added that he was "not afraid" of facing jail time to protect illegal aliens. However, Johnston also stated that those who commit "serious crimes like murder or rape ... should be prosecuted" and deported.Johnston's newly declared commitment to assist ICE — at least in some cases — follows a report that Trump's DOJ has instructed its prosecutors to investigate state and local leaders who obstruct the federal government's deportation efforts.A Tuesday memo from acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove read, "Federal law prohibits state and local actors from resisting, obstructing, and otherwise failing to comply with lawful immigration-related commands and requests.""The U.S. Attorney's Offices and litigating components of the Department of Justice shall investigate incidents involving any such misconduct for potential prosecution, including for obstructing federal functions," he wrote.Like Blaze News?
