‘Doesn’t Deserve to Be in Office’: Noem Slams Nashville Mayor Over Anti-ICE Actions

The mayor of Nashville, Tennessee, has “jeopardized” the safety of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and their families, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says.   “Mayor Freddie O’Connell has gone after our ICE individuals and agents that work with [Homeland Security Investigations],” Noem said at a press conference in Nashville on Friday.   O’Connell, a Democrat, has “openly doxed” ICE agents, Noem continued, “revealed their information to the public, encouraged people to work against them and their efforts to clean up the streets of Nashville, and he has forced his city officials, his employees of the city of Nashville, to document every single interaction that they have with federal immigration authorities.”  “What the mayor is doing to the city is shameful,” Noem said, later adding that O’Connell’s “priorities are completely screwed up, and he doesn’t deserve to be mayor. He doesn’t deserve to be in office.”   At a time when our ICE officers are facing an 830% increase in assaults against them, Mayor O'Connell is publicly sharing the names of the law enforcement agents removing criminal illegal aliens from his city.@Sec_Noem is not playing games with the lives and safety of our ICE… pic.twitter.com/tsWyw3xjHf— Homeland Security (@DHSgov) July 18, 2025 Noem’s criticism of O’Connell comes about a month after O’Connell defended the release of names of immigration agents in a public record. The names were later redacted, but O’Connell said he would not classify the release of the names as “doxing.”   Asked in June if he thought releasing the names of the immigration enforcement officers endangered them, O’Connell said he “would not say it was an endangerment process.” “I would say they may have some concerns. I’m far more concerned about the overall dynamic we have about unmarked, unidentifiable masked people whisking people into vehicles. I think that’s a bigger concern,” he said. ?BOMBSHELL: Pressed by @KarenAFox17 at a gaggle, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell refused to call his public listing of ICE and HSI agents’ names “doxing.”Instead, he claimed the real problem is “masked” ICE agents arresting criminal illegal aliens.ICE agents and their… pic.twitter.com/VdfUsaxMmc— Rep. Andy Ogles (@RepOgles) June 18, 2025 O’Connell is one of many Democrats to raise concerns over ICE agents masking their faces when they make arrests.   The release of the names followed an executive order O’Connell signed requiring some local authorities, such as local police, to document and report all interactions with federal immigration authorities.   “O’Connell and his administration are playing politics, and they’re playing politics to a dangerous level that’s risking people’s lives,” Noem said at the press conference that highlighted arrests of the “worst of the worst” criminal illegal aliens in and around Nashville.   O’Connell did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment.   ICE officials are facing an 830% increase in assaults since President Donald Trump returned to the White House, according to DHS.   “Leftists have doxed, attacked, and tried to intimidate the men and women who uphold our laws,” Noem says, adding that as a result, immigration officials are facing “violence against them and their families.”  In states and cities that are not cooperating with federal immigration enforcement efforts, Noem said, “we’re going to have to put more federal officers there in order to run our operations safely.”   While ICE is facing opposition from leaders in cities such as Nashville, Noem said, DHS has “over 800 agreements across this country with other city, local, and state officials that partner with us every single day. And we’re so thrilled to have those leaders in those cities being grateful that we’re there cleaning up their streets and getting dangerous individuals off their streets.”   Since Jan. 20, nearly 300,000 illegal aliens have been arrested in the U.S., 70% of whom have either been convicted of a crime or face pending criminal charges, according to Noem.   The post ‘Doesn’t Deserve to Be in Office’: Noem Slams Nashville Mayor Over Anti-ICE Actions appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Salena Zito Tops NYT Bestseller List With ‘Butler’ Book

A new book detailing the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt on President Donald Trump debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times’ bestseller list this week. Salena Zito, a journalist and Daily Signal columnist who witnessed the shooting just feet from then-candidate Trump, wrote about the harrowing episode in “Butler: The Untold Story of the Near Assassination of Donald Trump and the Fight for America’s Heartland.” Her book was released July 8, nearly a year after the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt. Zito, who lives in Western Pennsylvania, was covering Trump’s rally when the shots were fired, hitting Trump in the ear and killing volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore. Zito was tackled by a campaign staffer after the president was shot. The day after the assassination attempt, Trump called Zito seven times to apologize for his inability to do a scheduled interview. “You’ve just been shot and you’re asking about me?” @ZitoSalena on Trump calling her SEVEN times after assassination attempt… here's what he said.Watch below, and subscribe:https://t.co/Y12z2uLeBJ pic.twitter.com/0bcN75xqUn— The Megyn Kelly Show (@MegynKellyShow) July 7, 2025 “I just want to make sure that you’re OK, that your daughter Shannon is OK, and I really want to apologize for not doing the interview,” Zito recalled the president telling her in the aftermath of the shooting. “[Trump] talked deeply about faith, about purpose. I could tell he needed to work it out with someone who had been there,” she added. Trump heavily promoted Zito’s book after it was announced. He called it “powerful” in a Truth Social post, praising its successful launch and status as New York Times bestseller. In the book, Zito examines perspectives on Trump from those living in Middle America, and she condemns the bias of Washington’s press corps for their coverage of him, according to the Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard. Her book is currently being adapted into a movie. The post Salena Zito Tops NYT Bestseller List With ‘Butler’ Book appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Facial Recognition Moves In on London’s Biggest Carnival

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. The UK is expanding its use of live facial recognition (LFR) scans of the public. Police in London will deploy systems around the perimeter of this year’s Notting Hill Carnival, advancing a surveillance tactic that has previously drawn backlash over privacy concerns. The cameras are set to operate outside the official Carnival area, scanning crowds entering and exiting in an effort, the police say, aimed at preventing crime. The use of biometric scanning and enhanced stop-and-search tactics accompanies the Met’s stated aim of minimizing violence during one of London’s largest cultural events, but the technology itself has already been tested, with many calling for it to be expanded to stadiums and protests. Civil liberties groups have voiced sharp opposition to the renewed use of facial recognition tools, particularly in a context like the Carnival, where the majority of attendees are from Black and minority ethnic communities. Rebecca Vincent, interim director of Big Brother Watch, condemned the plans, saying, “It is worrying to see the [Metropolitan Police] resorting to the use of invasive live facial recognition technology at this year’s Notting Hill Carnival after scrapping it when a prior trial led to widespread outcry on the grounds of bias.” The Metropolitan Police maintain that the technology will only be used to identify people flagged on national databases. Vincent argued the police should instead prioritize “a proper on-the-ground police presence to deal with actual criminals” rather than deploying a system that “compromises the privacy rights of millions of innocent carnival-goers and local residents.” Roughly 7,000 officers and staff will be assigned each day of the Carnival. Apple’s Browser Blockade Still Standing Despite EU Crackdown

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Apple is facing renewed allegations of stifling competition in the European mobile browser market, with the Open Web Advocacy (OWA) accusing the company of deliberately maintaining roadblocks that prevent meaningful adoption of rival browser engines on iOS. Despite policy shifts introduced to align with the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), the organization says Apple’s approach has left little room for actual progress. Under the DMA, Apple was required to permit both third-party app stores and non-WebKit browser engines within the EU, a change the company formally implemented in March 2024. However, OWA argues that these regulatory concessions have not translated into real opportunities for competitors. “Apple claimed it didn’t know why no browser vendor has ported their engine to iOS over the past 15 months,” the group stated following a recent DMA workshop. “But the reality is Apple knows exactly what the barriers are, and has chosen not to remove them.” According to OWA, browser developers such as Mozilla and Google are faced with significant technical and strategic hurdles if they wish to introduce their own engines to iOS. One such obstacle is Apple’s requirement that browsers built with alternative engines be offered as entirely separate apps. That means developers would need to build and promote standalone versions of existing browsers, something the organization sees as an unnecessary barrier, especially when most users already have familiar versions of Chrome or Firefox installed, albeit still tied to Apple’s WebKit. There are also concerns about Apple’s policy on update distribution. If a user with an EU-based browser leaves the region for over 30 days, that browser may no longer receive updates. This restriction raises potential security issues and, according to OWA, contradicts Apple’s public messaging around user safety. The group maintains that these limitations serve to protect Safari’s position in the iOS ecosystem. Beyond market dominance, there are financial implications as well. Google reportedly pays Apple around 20 billion dollars each year to remain Safari’s default search provider. Any erosion of Safari’s user base could jeopardize that revenue stream. “Apple will continue to reap billions per year as a reward for its defiance of the DMA, revenues that are extracted from consumers and businesses via denying them meaningful choice and locking them into Apple’s services on Apple’s terms,” OWA warned. The organization is now calling on EU regulators to launch a formal investigation into Apple’s adherence to DMA obligations and compel changes that would level the playing field for other browser vendors. Fifteen months after Apple’s supposed compliance, OWA argues, meaningful browser competition on iOS remains virtually nonexistent. The group insists that enforcement, not just legislation, is essential to ensuring consumers get genuine alternatives. Explosive Report Urges Australia to Regulate the Internet at Its Core

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Australia may soon face a sharp increase in government control over digital communication if the proposals outlined by Reset are adopted.Tech Australia are adopted. The group, known for championing stricter regulation of online platforms, has issued a revised report urging the federal government to grant regulators far-reaching powers over major tech companies. Among their demands are the authority to levy substantial fines, compel platforms to redesign core systems, and even shut down digital services across the country. The latest edition of Reset.Tech’s policy paper lays out this agenda clearly, with pages 26 through 29 calling for regulators to have what it calls “effective notice and takedown powers.” Given that the eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, already holds some power to demand content removal under the Online Safety Act, this wording indicates a strong push for expanded authority. The document is aimed directly at the Albanese government and is framed as a contribution to shaping digital legislation during the current parliamentary term. The authors claim a systemic overhaul is required, one that moves beyond individual content moderation and instead focuses on the underlying architecture of online platforms. Reset.Tech argues that features such as algorithmic amplification, platform design, and advertising models contribute to widespread harm and should be subject to regulatory control. The report outlines concerns ranging from tech-fueled addiction and sleep disruption to vulnerabilities that allow scams to flourish. To address these issues, Reset.Tech calls for regulators to intervene at the level of product design, presenting a model akin to consumer safety standards applied to digital services. They insist that only this kind of deep structural oversight can lead to long-term user protection. A popular child entertainer is getting lambasted online for posting a video with a pro-Palestinian photographer whom many accuse of being a Hamas sympathizer.Rachel Accurso has millions of followers on YouTube and other social media platforms and has garnered billions of views, which led to a deal with Netflix. But many of her previous supporters have vowed to boycott her after she boosted photographer Motaz Azaiza.'Millions of kids consume her content. To expose them to Motaz is to expose them to the Palestine death cult.'Azaiza is a Palestinian photographer who has earned praise for covering the war in the Gaza Strip, but he's also been excoriated for a post that encouraged people to join the violence perpetrated by Hamas military leader Yahya Sinwar."Ms. Rachel, who makes content for toddlers, posted a video to her 3.4 million followers with her 'friend,' Palestinian journalist Motaz. Unmasking the elite: O'Keefe's ‘American Swiper’ exposes mishandling of Epstein scandal

We live in an era when seeking the truth is like trying to catch the wind. Government and big corporations lead us through a land of smoke and mirrors, feeding us lie after lie to keep us perpetually trapped in the dark. While many people have given up trying to find truth altogether, others have gotten more creative in their methods. One of those people is investigative reporter James O’Keefe, founder of O’Keefe Media Group, an undercover investigative organization notorious for conducting sting operations targeting the most corrupt government and corporate entities.OMG just expanded its platform to include a new series called “American Swiper,” which aims to expose corruption, bias, and misconduct using undercover citizen journalists and hidden cameras. From intelligence agents and politicians to corporate bigwigs and media outlets, nobody’s secrets are safe.Earlier this month as part of its "American Swiper" series, OMG released an audio recording of Rami Hassan, a deputy senior national intelligence officer at the FBI. On the recording, Hassan is heard telling his undercover date that law enforcement mishandled the Epstein case.On the latest episode of “Normal World,” O’Keefe joined Dave Landau, ¼ Black Garrett, and Angela Boggs to dig into the Epstein scandal that somehow just keeps getting bigger. The panel first revisits the audio capturing Hassan’s apparent admission.“I’m with FBI. It’s a s**t show. I do a lot of kind of countering white supremacy things,” he said. “Although the last two and half years, I was at the White House and then kind of got moved back … with the new administration coming in.”Hassan’s trained date then cleverly segued to the subject of Epstein. “Small coincidence, but I’ve been watching the Epstein documentary …” she began before Hassan interjected.“They [FBI] were trying to … release some of the files — like the White House was … it’s just messy,” he said, according to the recording, before confessing that law enforcement “turned a blind eye” or “missed things” regarding the Epstein case. What Hassan told a stranger, O’Keefe says, is “very similar to what Attorney General Pam Bondi did in April” this year. In another sting operation, OMG video shows Bondi telling an undercover journalist that “there's tens of thousands of videos” that the DOJ has to sort through.“The question I have is why did the Attorney General and [Hassan] disclose this information to a stranger in a public place before they disclosed it to the American people?” says O’Keefe, who thinks at this point we need to consider making everything “unredacted.”“I recognize the world is glued together by secrets. … You can't do a military strike against bad people if they know that you're coming, right? ... But I think at this point, things are so out of balance,” he says. “Everything's redacted. Everything's a lie.”As for the DOJ and FBI’s joint memo claiming Epstein’s client list “doesn’t exist,” O’Keefe says the “no-evidence argument” is always “a red flag.”“In fairness to the Department of Justice, perhaps it's not what the MAGA people want it to be. But I would bet you a hundred bucks that there's something there … that they don’t want us to see,” he says.To hear more of his take and more about other OMG sting operations, watch the episode above.Want more 'Normal World'?To enjoy more whimsical satire, topical sketches, and comedic discussions from comedians Dave Landau and 1/4 Black Garrett, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.
