But just 12 minutes in his monologue, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon interrupted Routh and scolded him for ignoring her order to “stay within the bounds of the case” after he started complaining that he wasn’t allowed to put more witnesses on the stand. With the jury out of earshot, Routh then asked Cannon whether the public defenders who initially represented him, Kristy Militello and Renee Michelle Sihvola, could wrap-up his closing argument if the judge interrupted him again. Cannon said no and when the jury returned Routh argued that “to merely have a weapon in the presence of another does not mean intent.” But after Routh brought up the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill and began talking about Ukraine, founding father Patrick Henry, and the “common man,” Cannon put a halt to his argument. He was arrested September 15, 2024 after Secret Service spotted him hiding in shrubbery with an SKS-style rifle. The aborted attack arrived just two months after Trump was nearly fatally shot during a campaign rally last July. Fox News adds these wild details: Jurors on Tuesday delivered a guilty verdict for Ryan Routh on all charges after he attempted to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf club last September. After the verdict was read, Routh reportedly appeared to try to stab himself in the neck with a pen before four U.S. Marshals restrained him. His daughter, Sara Routh, reportedly stood up and said: “Don’t do anything. I will get you out. What the f—, f—, he didn’t hurt anybody. This is not fair. This is all rigged – you guys are a–holes.” The jury was still in the room at the time. Routh, 59, was charged on five federal criminal counts, including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate, assaulting a federal officer, and multiple firearms offenses. The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. Jurors deliberated for several hours before returning to the court with a verdict. The update comes after a nearly three-week trial. Prosecutors used the bulk of their closing arguments Tuesday to emphasize both the digital and forensic evidence presented at trial and what they described as Routh’s clear intent: to kill Trump. They noted the 17 “reconnaissance” trips he allegedly made to Trump’s golf course, and what they described as his excessive stalking of Trump, prior to the Sept. 15, 2024 incident in question. This part was critical for the prosecution to convict Routh on the first and most serious criminal count: Attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate. In order to secure a conviction on that charge, prosecutors had to prove to jurors two things: First, that the defendant had the intent to carry out the crime, and second, that the defendant had taken “substantial steps” to do so. Former NFL running back Rudi Johnson has passed away. Johnson, who spent most of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, was 45. The former Auburn University standout rushed for over 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons for the Bengals. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2004. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to call in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida at about 11:13 EDT on Monday to treat and transport an “adult trauma alert patient,” the agency said. While Miami-Dade Fire Rescue declined to name the patient, citing HIPPA protections, the address for this call appears to correspond with Johnson’s home listed in public records. “Rudi was a fine person and an excellent running back for us,” according to a statement from Bengals president Mike Brown. “He was dependable and productive as a player, and very popular among his teammates. He played the next seven seasons with Cincinnati, where he finished his tenure as one of the most productive running backs in franchise history. He started in 59 of his 81 appearances with the Bengals. He finished his time in Cincinnati with 5,742 career rushing yards, the fourth-highest total in franchise history. Johnson also scored 48 rushing touchdowns, good for third on the team’s all-time list. For three straight years, Johnson had exactly 12 touchdowns on the ground. His most notable season was in 2004, when he rushed for 1,454 yards and earned a Pro Bowl nod. Cincinnati released him in 2008. Johnson played one more season with the Detroit Lions, where he rushed for 237 yards in 14 games. Before entering the league, Johnson had a prolific college career. In 2000, he was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year in his only season at Auburn, where he carried the ball 324 times that season for 1,567 yards, the fourth-best mark for a single season in school history. The company also announced it would reinstate YouTube accounts that were banned by its censorship policies under the Biden administration. Fox News was the first to report on the move by Google: Google vowed on Tuesday to offer YouTube accounts that were permanently banned for political speech the ability to be reinstated, and the big tech giant admitted that it once faced pressure from the Biden administration to remove content about COVID-19. Google detailed its remarkable shift in a document, first obtained by Fox News Digital, that a lawyer for the company provided to the House Judiciary Committee. The new policy from Google, also known by its parent company Alphabet, could affect both average users and well-known figures like FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, White House counterterrorism chief Sebastian Gorka and “War Room” podcast host Steve Bannon, all of whom were permanently banned in recent years for COVID-19 or election-related content. “Reflecting the Company’s commitment to free expression, YouTube will provide an opportunity for all creators to rejoin the platform if the company terminated their channels for repeated violations of COVID-19 and elections integrity policies that are no longer in effect,” the lawyer representing Google wrote. Bongino ended his conservative radio show, which livestreamed on Rumble, when he joined the administration this year. He has attributed his popularity on that platform to permanently losing his YouTube account in 2022. YouTube permanently banned Bongino, who had one of the most followed accounts on the platform, for spreading what it said was COVID-19 misinformation about masks. After not getting the answer he wanted, the French President was forced to walk to his intended location. The New York Post reported more on Macron’s struggle in traffic: French leader Emmanuel Macron got an authentic New York experience when his car was blocked by UN traffic — with the head of state filmed getting out to walk and even calling President Trump for help. Bizarre video showed the European leader begging an NYPD cop to help him get through on Monday, soon after he finished giving a controversial speech to the United Nations, according to French outlet Brut. “I’m really sorry, Mr. President, everything is currently blocked,” the apologetic officer tells Macron, who tries to convince the cop to let him through if Trump’s convoy is not immediately passing by. Frazzled, Macron then makes a call — seemingly to Trump. “How are you? Guess what, I’m waiting in the street because everything is closed for you,” Macron says, laughing in the call, seemingly to his American counterpart. The French leader was then forced to make the next 30 minutes of his journey on foot through the streets of Manhattan, according to Brut. Really incredible. It can do so much. I’m behind it.” He acknowledged that he doesn’t always agree with allies, which was highlighted in his remarks when he said the UN was contributing to the problem of “uncontrolled migration,” among other criticism. “I may disagree with it sometimes, but I am so behind it,” Trump said. “The potential for peace with this institution is so great.
