Whiskey Myers Let It Rip On Rocking New Single “Midnight Woman”

Whiskey Myers Let It Rip On Rocking New Single “Midnight Woman”

A certified heater. The East Texas boys are letting it rip once again with an electrifying new single, “Midnight Woman.” “Midnight Woman” is the third single that Whiskey Myers has released from their forthcoming record, Whomp Whack Thunder. Produced by Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson), the new album is set for release this fall on September 26th via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records. Whiskey Myers’ lead guitarist John Jeffers says they went into the studio with no preconceived ideas of what they wanted it to be. Instead, let their inspirations and muses lead them: “We didn’t set out to chase a specific sound—we set out to make a Whiskey Myers record. Jay pulled something out of us that’s raw and real, and every track’s got a piece of our story in it. This album’s about where we’ve been, what we’ve lived and the scars we earned along the way – and I think ‘Whomp Whack Thunder’ might just be our most fearless album yet.” Fearless indeed. With their first two singles, “Time Bomb” and “Tailspin,” the Southern rock outfit from Palestine has never been more unapologetically them. “Midnight Woman” falls right in line with this. The slow and smooth build-up of the opening lines sets the scene that the narrator is taken aback by a hypnotizing woman. After the first verse, the instrumentation takes a notable step up and transitions into a classic rock groove soaked with soul. Frontman Cody Cannon’s gritty vocals “She got that rhythm like Mustang Sally She got that mojo hand She got that motion in the ocean She’s gotta ways with potions Damn, strong enough to kill a full-grown man She operates under the moon and the starlight She moves, she moves between the hours of twilight That kinda love will make a man go insane She’ll knock you out like a shot to your veins…” Everything about this “Midnight Woman” captivates the narrator of the tune, and the lyrics really do bring the image of this woman to light. I’m picturing a dark dive bar with a vampy woman sitting on the other end holding this man’s attention all night. “Midnight Woman” must be something special, and whoever this mysterious character is, she inspired one hell of a tune. Similar to what they did with “Tailspin,” they allowed festivalgoers to get an early listen to the single. The overwhelming consensus is that “Midnight Woman” is a Whiskey Myers classic. And I agree. Miranda Lambert & Parker McCollum Announce STACKED Lineup For Texas Flood Benefit Concert, Including Cody Johnson, Matthew McConaughey & More

A STACKED lineup for an incredible cause. I’m sure we’ve all seen the devastating news about how South-central Texas was ravaged by flash flooding over the 4th of July weekend, and over 130 people have already been confirmed deceased. Camp Mystic – a Christian girls camp located in Texas Hill Country –  is currently grieving the unfathomable loss of 27 young campers and counselors. And the tragedy continues to unfold. While dozens of people are still unaccounted for, and we won’t know the official toll and extent of the damage for weeks (if not months), what we do know is that the South-central Texas area currently needs all the help it can get to recover and pick up the pieces. Music is of course healing, and in times of distress, the people who make the music are the ones who often step up. When Hurricane Helene caused similarly tragic flooding in Western North Carolina last fall, Eric Church and Luke Combs put together the Concert for Carolina benefit, which raised over $24 million for disaster relief. And now with the devastating flooding in Texas, other artists with connections to Texas are putting together benefit concerts to help heal the Lone Star state. Several benefit concerts organized by Texas-born artists have already taken place, like Josh Weathers’ benefit concert that raised over $400,000 less than 48 hours after the disaster happened, George Strait announced that a “Strait To The Heart” benefit concert that is taking later this month on July 27th, and Pat Green raised over $ million earlier this week with a livestream benefit. This morning, Texas natives Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum announced their benefit show officially dubbed Band Together Texas, a star-studded benefit concert slated to take place on Sunday, August 17th at the Moody Center in Austin, benefiting The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, the leading charity behind the ongoing flood relief efforts, and Central Texas Community Foundation. The show will feature the Lone Star States best talent, including Lambert in McCollum, in addition to performances by Ryan Bingham, Wade Bowen, Kelly Clarkson, Ronnie Dunn, Dylan Gossett, Jack Ingram, Cody Johnson, Lyle Lovett, Lukas Nelson, Jon Randall and Randy Rogers Band. Other very famous performers will take the stage throughout the evening, including Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid, former UT Longhorns coach Mack Brown and players Emmanual Acho, Colt McCoy and Vince Young, MLB star and Houston native Roger Clemens plus television host and Dallas native Chris Harrison, with more to be announced. I mean, I’ve hardly seen a better lineup for any event anywhere: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Miranda Lambert (@mirandalambert) Miranda says their goal is to bring some sort of hope to those whose lives were completely destroyed by the flooding: “One of the things I love about both our artist community and our community in Texas is that we show up for one another, especially in times of such great need like folks in my home state are facing after the flood. There is so much devastation and loss, yet what’s given me hope are the stories of those that have come to the aid of so many. That’s what we want to do with Band Together: Texans helping Texas. We hope it is a night that helps with healing while raising awareness and funds for The Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country and the Central Texas Community Foundation.” The evening will also feature tributes to first responders and flood victims, including stories of rescue and resilience shared on stage by emergency personnel. Parker adds: “The flooding in the Hill Country of Texas is truly heartbreaking. This place and these people are my community. There is a long road ahead rebuilding and even though so many families are facing the unimaginable, we’re Texas strong. Miranda is inspiring in both her music and how big her heart is, and I’m honored to be joining her for this benefit concert to support our fellow Texans and share a night of healing through music.” Band Together Texas proceeds benefit The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, a Kerrville-based 501(c)(3) public charity that supports both urgent relief and long-term rebuilding following the floods, and Central Texas Community Foundation. Tickets for Band Together Texas at Moody Center will first be made available via presale registration open now through Monday, July 21 at 5 p.m. CT at bandtogethertexas.com. Presale passwords will be issued Tuesday, July 22 via registered email. Presale starts Wednesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. CT. Any remaining tickets will be available at general on sale beginning Friday, July 25 at 10 a.m. CT. Miranda always says that music is medicine, and I have no doubt that they’re going to raise a ton of money for very-deserving Texans that have been through unimaginably tragic time over the last couple weeks. The post Miranda Lambert & Parker McCollum Announce STACKED Lineup For Texas Flood Benefit Concert, Including Cody Johnson, Matthew McConaughey & More first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Luke Bryan Jokes About Cheating CEO During Greenville Concert: “Who’s With Their Secretary Tonight?”

Luke Bryan Jokes About Cheating CEO During Greenville Concert: “Who’s With Their Secretary Tonight?”

Not safe at a Luke Bryan concert either. I saw a tweet once that said every day there’s a main character on the internet, and the goal is for it to never be you. But unfortunately for Andy Byron, he was the main character yesterday after getting put on blast at a Coldplay concert. I’m sure you’ve seen the video by now of Byron, the CEO of tech company Astronomer, getting caught (allegedly) cheating on his wife with the company’s HR director Kristin Cabot. The viral clip shows Byron and Cabot cuddled up at the concert before getting exposed by the jumbotron camera operator. They quickly separated and tried to hide their faces, but by then the damage was already done. (Honestly their reaction made it way worse…he hit the ground and she ran away, making it clear that something was up). And not only that, they also got called out by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin: “Oh look at these two. Oh come on, you’re okay. What? Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.” The internet found out he’s married and she knows Imagine being caught having an affair by Coldplay pic.twitter.com/XtdQspLixO — TONI TONE (@t0nit0ne) July 17, 2025 Well the video quickly went viral, and the jokes and memes quickly followed. Social media users even found Byron’s wife and noticed that she removed her last name from her social media page before deactivating it altogether. At this point there hasn’t been any statement from the company or any of the parties involved in the internet’s most talked-about moment of the week. But other artists are already making jokes about it at their own shows. Last night, country star Luke Bryan was in Greenville, South Carolina for a show at Bon Secours Arena on his Country Song Came On tour. And before playing his sultry “Strip It Down,” he turned the lights up to make sure that there wasn’t anybody there with someone they weren’t supposed to be with: “We’re gonna shine our cameras on anybody… Who’s with their secretary tonight? Who is with their secretary tonight? There’s gotta be somebody way up there that’s…yeah… Don’t get caught tonight. Do not get caught tonight.” @nataliejeffries2 #lukebryan #cheater #ceo ♬ original sound – nataliejeffries2 I’ve gotta be honest, this has been one of my favorite viral moments in recent memory. The entire internet has just united to make fun of this guy for (allegedly) cheating on his wife and getting caught at, of all places, a Coldplay concert. I really can’t think of anything worse for them…and better for us. Except maybe getting caught at a Luke Bryan concert. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem that happened to anybody last night. Of course in the wake of the viral video, everybody’s waiting to hear from the parties involved. And yesterday, a statement began going around purporting to be from Byron that not only apologized for his behavior but also criticized the band for calling them out. The only problem is…the statement wasn’t real. Despite being shared by many large accounts, the statement that claimed to be from Byron actually started with a parody account that claimed to be a CBS reporter by the name of “P. Enis.” And it not only blasted Coldplay, but also quoted their lyrics at the end of the statement – which was probably the first red flag that it wasn’t legit. Nevertheless, several usually-credible accounts were quick to share the statement before backtracking and deleting the posts. BREAKING: Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, who was caught cheating on his wife with his HR executive on the Jumbotron at a Coldplay concert, has released a statement on the matter. pic.twitter.com/ipquKffZJx — Proud Elephant (@ProudElephantUS) July 17, 2025 I guess we’ll just have to wait and see whether Byron or Cabot address the incident, but they’re probably hoping that another main character quickly pops up on the internet to take the heat off of themselves. The post Luke Bryan Jokes About Cheating CEO During Greenville Concert: “Who’s With Their Secretary Tonight?” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Randall King Releases Heartbreaking Classic Country Ballad, “I Keep Your Memory Around”

Holding onto a memory. Randall King is doing a 180-degree switch from his last upbeat, jukebox twanger “Cheatin’ On My Honky Tonk” featuring Braxton Keith, to a slow, painfully good heartbreak ballad, “I Keep Your Memory Around.” When King released his last single, he shared with fans that he felt the Texas twang of “Cheatin’ On My Honky Tonk” was the perfect bridge from Into The Neon into this new chapter of music. Randall King recently traded honky tonk hardwood floors and neon beer signs for nursery rhymes as he and his fiancée, Brittany Warthan, welcome their first daughter, Paisley Leanna, into the world. “My fans all know how much I love a honky tonk, however life’s looking a little different these days. I’m spending less time under that neon glow and more time at home with my girls, and this song felt like the perfect way to bridge ‘Into The Neon’ and this next chapter.” The song was light and featured witty lyrics about not spending time at the dive bar, and King was not wrong; it was a great bridge into this next chapter of music. However, after being gifted such an upbeat tune, I was not expecting to be hit by a truck of emotion with his next single. Randall King began teasing “I Keep Your Memory Around” after performing it at the Grand Ole Opry, and fans instantly fell in love with the heartbreak ballad. “This song right here is for anybody going through a heartbreak, through a hard time, or just lost somebody. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and you’re going to get there.”  Randall King said in a promo clip for the single. The tune, penned by Adam Craig, Matt Rogers, and Drew Parker, portrays a heartbroken man trying to muster the willpower to move on. While he knows being hung up on this former lover is not good for him, and he continues to hurt himself thinking about her, he can’t bear the thought of wiping his memory of this woman. But the thoughts of this past relationship keep him company on lonely nights, which is why he chooses to keep these painful memories around. “It helps me through the lonely nights Ooh, I guess that’s why I keep your memory around I don’t care how bad it hurts I know forgettin’ about you Would hurt even worse I know that I should move on But I can’t let it move out No you won’t ever be gone If I keep your memory around…” It hurts so good. Randall King took a knife and twisted it in your heart with his single, but it’s the optimism of a sad country song that makes me happy. Turn it up.
