FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr Suggests Denial of Starlink Follows Biden Giving Federal Agencies “The Green Light To Go After” Elon Musk After He Bought Twitter

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties‚ subscribe to Reclaim The Net. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has rejected Starlink’s request for an $885 million subsidy‚ a decision that has sparked controversy‚ especially among its commissioners. Brendan Carr‚ an FCC Commissioner‚ has voiced a strong dissent‚ suggesting the decision is politically motivated and not based on objective legal‚ factual‚ or policy grounds. According to the FCC‚ “After reviewing all of the information submitted by Starlink‚ the Bureau ultimately concluded that Starlink had not shown that it was reasonably capable of fulfilling RDOF’s requirements to deploy a network of the scope‚ scale‚ and size required to serve the 642‚925 model locations in 35 states for which it was the winning bidder.” The FCC also alleged that‚ “At the time of the Bureau’s decision‚ Starship had not yet been launched. Indeed‚ even as of today [i.e. over a year later]‚ Starship has not yet had a successful launch; all of its attempted launches have failed. Based on Starlink’s previous assertions about its plans to launch its second-generation satellites via Starship‚ and the information that was available at the time‚ the [Wireline Competition] Bureau necessarily considered Starlink’s continuing inability to successfully launch the Starship rocket when making predictive judgment about its ability to meet its RDOF obligations.” Carr asserts that the decision is part of a broader pattern of regulatory actions against Elon Musk’s businesses‚ particularly following Musk’s acquisition of Twitter‚ his unfiltered political expressions‚ and his commitment to free speech. Carr references a statement by President Biden‚ suggesting a governmental inclination to scrutinize Musk. In November 2022‚ soon after Musk took the reins at Twitter (now X)‚ President Biden said the following: “I think that Elon Musk’s cooperation and/or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at. Whether or not he is doing anything inappropriate‚ I’m not suggesting that. I’m suggesting that it wor- — worth being looked at. And — and — but that’s all I’ll say.” Biden’s response came after being asked if Musk‚ and his purchase of Twitter‚ was a threat to national security‚ framed with the idea of involving money from Saudi Arabia. Carr observes that various federal agencies‚ including the Department of Justice and the Federal Aviation Administration‚ have launched investigations into Musk’s ventures. “The Department of Justice‚ the Federal Aviation Administration‚ the Federal Trade Commission‚ the National Labor Relations Board‚ the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York‚ and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have all initiated investigations into Elon Musk or his businesses‚” Carr wrote in his dissent. Carr argues that the FCC’s revocation of the $885 million award to Starlink‚ intended to provide high-speed internet service to over 640‚000 rural homes and businesses across 35 states‚ defies any objective application of law‚ facts‚ or policy. He criticizes the FCC for creating and applying a new standard of review solely to Starlink‚ which he deems impossible for any entity to meet. According to Carr‚ Starlink has demonstrated that it is “reasonably capable” of fulfilling its commitment to provide high-speed internet service to the required locations by the end of 2025. He accuses the FCC of ignoring substantial evidence supporting Starlink’s capability and instead applying an irrelevant current speed test to evaluate Starlink’s future performance. Carr also points out a when he believes is a flaw in the FCC’s methodology‚ likening it to predicting the outcome of a NASCAR race based on the pace lap. He emphasizes that technological progress‚ especially in the case of Starlink’s Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system‚ cannot be accurately assessed through simplistic measures. Moreover‚ Carr highlights the negative implications of the FCC’s decision on rural communities‚ which will remain on the wrong side of the digital divide. He also notes the financial impact on American taxpayers‚ as alternative solutions to bring high-speed internet to these areas would likely cost significantly more than the amount Starlink was awarded. Despite Carr’s dissent and the contentious nature of the FCC’s decision‚ the subsidy has been revoked‚ leaving the future of rural internet connectivity in these areas uncertain. Carr’s perspective frames the decision as a politically influenced move that overlooks the potential benefits of Starlink’s technology for underserved communities and highlights the broader implications of this decision within the context of the Biden administration’s regulatory approach. We obtained a copy of Carr’s dissent for you here. Maddow Smears SCOTUS with Nazis: All Pro-Lifers Are 'Anti-Democratic‚ Pro-Authoritarian'

The Left is typically opposed to freedom‚ except on the gravest social issues‚ like abortion. The freedom to kill a baby is sacrosanct. On Monday night‚ Rachel Maddow unloaded another pro-abortion rant‚ flagrantly comparing German and Italian fascists to Supreme Court justices like Gorsuch‚ Kavanaugh‚ and Barrett. The news item inspiring this was the electoral defeat of the conservative Law and Justice Party in Poland‚ who have been intolerably anti-abortion in MSNBC's eyes.  MADDOW; Anti-democratic‚ pro-authoritarian movements the world over and throughout history always stomp on reproductive rights! In some cases they mandate forced abortions like in China. More often‚ like with the law and justice party in Poland‚ it's an abortion ban. Right? And in either case‚ you get the point‚ reproductive freedom cannot be tolerated. Heaven forbid a woman decides on her own whether or not she wants to have a baby. Maddow is referring to Heaven‚ without the notion that perhaps God opposes abortion. If so‚ He is anti-democratic and pro-authoritarian. MADDOW: It's a government decision to force you to give birth or not regardless of what you want or what's good for you. It is an authoritarian project everywhere there is authoritarian governments. In Vichy France‚ when France was occupied by the Nazis and controlled by the collaborationist Vichy regime. Vichy authorities in France took the time – you’d think they might have something else to worry about --  they took the time in July 1943 to guillotine a woman‚ to execute a woman by guillotine in 1943‚ for the crime of performing abortions. Abortion was not just illegal‚ it was punishable by the death penalty when France was occupied by the Nazis. That law was only dropped when France was liberated by the allies. Germany itself only last year repealed a Nazi-era law that banned German doctors from providing information about abortions. They finally got rid of that last year. In fascist Italy‚ abortion had already been against the law before he came to power‚ but when Mussolini became the fascist dictator of Italy‚ he aggressively criminalized it. He made any woman who got an abortion subject to five years at hard labor. Heaven forbid that a woman be free to decide on her own terms if she wants to have a baby. Then‚ in a somehow natural turn from German Nazis and Italian fascists‚ Maddow turned to Trump’s America: In the Trump presidency‚ Republicans finally succeeded in their machinations to stack the U.S. Supreme Court with hardline anti-abortion conservatives‚ and then they were able to get through the policy they most wanted. They overturned Roe v. Wade‚ and that allowed Republican-controlled states all over the country to ban abortion. Then‚ she lamented‚ pro-life states are taking it further. Missouri wants women seeking abortions to be charged with homicide‚ and murder charges could lead to capital punishment. She claimed "In Ohio‚ a young woman is newly facing criminal charges for having had a miscarriage at home." (The dead child was left in the toilet.) She introduced a new segment on the pro-abortion side's latest empathetic anecdote‚ Texas mother Kate Cox‚ who was prevented from having a late-term abortion of a "non-viable fetus" that Maddow said could "potentially save her life." Cox left the state to get her abortion‚ after serving as a plaintiff for the abortion advocates at the Center for Reproductive Rights. Maddow said Cox's case "has played out over these last few days as a Republican fantasy of how they would most like to wield really‚ really‚ really‚ really big government." They're libertarians on one issue.

Alleged home intruder shot by resident calls 911 to report that he's dying; police arrest man and woman for 2nd-degree murder

A man and a woman were arrested by Minnesota police after an alleged home intruder was shot and killed at their home in St. Paul early Monday morning. The St. Paul Police Department said that the woman who lived at the home in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood called 911 to report a home intruder. While she was on the phone with police‚ a man got on the call and told police he had shot the intruder numerous times on their front porch. The man who was shot also called police and told them that he was dying. He did not respond to questions and the call went silent‚ according to police. When police arrived at the residence on Englewood Avenue at about 1:45 a.m.‚ they found the man with gunshot injuries on the porch. The man was transported to Regions Hospital where he was later declared dead. On Tuesday‚ the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as 35-year-old Drew Johnson. Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster said that the couple refused to be interviewed by police about the incident. After investigating the matter‚ police arrested the man and woman on suspicion of second-degree murder. The couple were booked into the Ramsey County jail and later released. The man is 30 years old while the woman is 35 years old. The woman initially told police on the 911 call that she knew the man who was allegedly trying to break into her home. Investigators said in a statement that they are "working to determine the circumstances that led to this shooting." Police said the shooting death was the 32nd homicide in the city so far this year. Last year‚ there were 40 homicides in St. Paul. Here's a local news report about the incident: Like Blaze News?
