President Donald Trump on Friday urged Iran to reach a nuclear agreement to avoid further military conflict following Israel’s overnight strikes on Iran. “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal,” Trump said. “Certain Iranian hardliners spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse!” Later Friday morning, Trump posted on social media: “Two months ago I gave Iran a 60 day ultimatum to ‘make a deal.’ They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they just couldn’t get there. The strong hand of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will not abandon it, God willing.” Khamenei confirmed that some Iranian leaders and scientists were killed in the Israeli strikes. He added that their “successors and colleagues will return to their positions immediately.” “With this crime, the Zionist regime has prepared for itself a bitter and painful fate, and it will surely meet it.”
