I Can’t Believe This But I Actually Have Honest Praise For Mark Zuckerberg

I certainly was not expecting this, but credit where credit is due…. And yes, he still owes me TWO pro-Trump Facebook Pages each with 1.5 million of you where we were all connected which he deleted overnight with no notice and no reason of any kind, one right before the 2020 election and one right before the 2024 election, which I realize looks a lot like election interference but that’s just my crazy opinion. So I’m not forgetting or ignoring any of that, and quite frankly I’m still rather angry about all of those things, but credit where credit is due because I finally broke down and bought the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and I have to say they’re a complete game-changer. Pretty crazy stuff. So while I still hate Zuckerberg and Meta with a passion, these glasses are incredibly cool and have been a really cool enhancement to my family and to my life, so I wanted to tell you about them. And no, this article is not sponsored by Mark Zuckerberg, Meta or Facebook or Ray-Ban.  This is just my honest review and opinion.  And I can be mature enough to still hate Mark Zuckerberg while admitting he just built a really great, game-changing product. Now my full review — and I’ll tell you exactly how I use them and what they’re best for. First of all, the glasses look and feel fantastic. They are roughly the same size and shape of a typical pair of Ray-Ban glasses and at first glance people may not even realize they are “smart glasses”. They come in a beautiful, classic Ray-Ban case with charging automatically built in.  They charge when you put them back in the case with an LED indicator light on the outside of the case showing you battery level.  The case can charge the glasses multiple times before needing to be recharged itself. They are only slightly larger and heavier than a normal set of sunglass frames, and they do not feel heavy or burdensome even after wearing for a long time. Second, they just work — kind of like Apple used to be. In fact, these are the glasses Apple should have made, and if we still had Steve Jobs with us almost certainly Apple would have made these instead of Meta. Sadly, we have had Tim Cook for the past decade and innovation is DEAD at Apple. So Meta picked up the torch and made these glasses instead, and I have to say they “out-Appled” Apple. You put them on your head and they automatically turn on with a little chime you hear in your ear. Speaking of the sounds, the speakers are built in the arms of the glasses and while they do not physically sit in your ear like AirPods, it feels like they do because they kind of beam the sound right into your ear.  It’s wild.  And that means unless you have the volume up high, you can hear the speakers perfectly but the people around you can’t. You can do all the things you might expect, answer phone calls, listen to music, talk to them using built in AI… And all of those things are fine.  Taking calls is nice and totally intuitive.  Listening to music is fine.  Talking to the built-in AI is garbage and not worth you time.  I shut that feature off until it gets better. But the game-changer is the photos and video. We went to Worlds of Fun recently and I took the glasses with me for all of the rides and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. Put them on, tap and hold the button on the top of the glasses, and suddenly you’re recording video. Holding your smart phone out to take video on a rollercoaster = very bad idea. But wearing glasses that automatically record?  Super cool! And you might think the video would be super jerky or low quality but it’s not.  It looks ALMOST as good as the video from my phone in terms of quality, and there is almost no jerkiness because the AI in the glasses stabilizes the video while it’s shooting. So I ended up with super clear rollercoaster videos with almost no wobble or jitter of any kind. This is the kind of stuff you sort of dreamed about as a kid and now the tech is here. Back home, I’ve been using them playing wiffle-ball with the kids in the backyard. I just put them on and play like normal and I get these increase first-person perspective videos of me pitching the wiffle ball and they hit it right back in my direction.  Really cool videos that I never would have got any other way. They’ve also been really cool to capture family bike rides and other action activities without needing to hold something with your hands. So that’s the real game-changing application for them in my opinion….sports, amusement parks, action/adventure, outside activities.  Capture really cool stuff that you really couldn’t get before. So I hate that Apple didn’t make these things and I hate that I have to say something nice about Meta, but they really crushed it with this. Oh, and then there’s the price. Everyone I show these to usually guesses they cost around $1,000 (including the wife the first time I showed her) but they don’t! Honestly, they’d probably be worth it even at that price, but they are only $299 with free shipping and free returns if you get them on Amazon like I did. SEE ON AMAZON HERE: So there you go! My honest review of the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. They’re cool. It’s new tech that allows you to do things you really couldn’t do before and now just from the past two weeks I have new family videos I will cherish forever. And now I’m constantly looking around thinking what other activities I can wear these while doing, because it gets to be a little addicting once you get into it. You can take pictures and video by tapping the button on the top right arm of the glasses or if you enable voice-mode you can just speak and tell them to take a phone or take a video. Pro-tip: voice mode drains your battery super fast, and it’s faster to just tap the button for photos/videos, so when planning to shoot a ton of photos and videos like at Worlds of Fun, I shut voice mode off and the battery lasted all day long, with periodically putting them back in the case every so often. Here’s a short video showing five cool ways to use them: Even at Christmas time I am excited to use these instead of needing to hold my phone the whole time for unwrapping presents. I had to kind of pinch my nose when I bought them because I never planned on doing anything with Facebook ever again, but I have to admit it was worth it. You can buy directly from Meta but shipping is free on Amazon if you have Prime. BUY ON AMAZON HERE This is pretty cool too — live translation: And this is what’s coming next… This is called Project Orion and these probably will cost $1,000 or more, but these look absolutely incredible. Why isn’t Apple making this stuff? Why did Apple lost the AI race to ChatGPT and Grok and now it’s losing tech to Meta? Come on “Tim Apple” either get in the game or retire! I would so much rather purchase this from Apple than Meta, but you gotta admit this looks sweet: SEE ON AMAZON HERE (also available in tinted sunglasses or transition lenses):

Incoming: 600,000 Chinese Communist Students

President Donald Trump will admit up to 600,000 Chinese students into U.S. universities, more than double the current 270,000. He made the announcement during a press briefing on Monday. He could always change his mind, but he seems set on this. He called it a “strategic move” to strengthen trade with China and help financially […] The post Incoming: 600,000 Chinese Communist Students appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.
