Jason Aldean & His Wife, Brittany, Join Cracker Barrel Boycott: “Y’all Been Actin’ A Fool”

The Aldean family has officially entered into the Cracker Barrel rebrand controversy chat. By this point, you’ve likely heard about the Cracker Barrel controversy. After rolling out the same logo for close to fifty years, the eatery known as Cracker Barrel just announced a major rebrand. They’re opting to go with a more minimalist logo, and they are making a huge mistake. There’s no amount of buttered and jellied biscuits that could save them from this. As you can see, the old logo that we’ve all come to know and love – featuring an old man sitting next to a barrel – is no more. They’ve opted to “clean things up,” and got rid of the a) the old man b) the barrel and c) every ounce of character the original logo had to debut a lifeless, sterile, pointless, boring new symbol. It’s a travesty: Cracker Barrel has updated their logo for the first time in 48 years pic.twitter.com/wkDOatNPKz — Culture Crave (@CultureCrave) August 20, 2025 I’m baffled by the fact that modern brands insist on ruining their own aura. As you might imagine, the logo change – and the restaurant interior remodel to an overdone farmhouse look – has people up in arms. Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino insists that people are loving the restaurant’s rebrand, and suggested that the response has been “overwhelmingly positive.” Try telling that to the stockholders. Right after the logo change announcement was made, Cracker Barrel’s stock saw a nasty 14% drop, something to the tune of $100 million in value. It’s since recovered a bit (buy the dip, right?), but still has a 5% drop over the past five days. On the year however, Cracker Barrel us up a whopping  38%. Much of that precipitous drop had to do with the public response to the changes Cracker Barrel was making. Some were calling for a boycott, and country music star John Rich even called it the restaurant’s “Bud Light Moment.” And he wasn’t the only name in country music that shared their thoughts on the overarching changes to the beloved southern eatery. Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, went out for a breakfast date earlier this week at a First Watch location, and decided that it would be the perfect time for a photo op and a shot at the breakfast restaurant competitor that’s been making headlines: “Breakfast date this morning. We would be at Cracker Barrel but y’all been actin’ a fool.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by BRITTANY ALDEAN (@brittanyaldean) See Cracker Barrel? You are already losing business because of the rebrand and overhaul. It’s really quite a wild and unfortunate time for the Cracker Barrel franchise. Even the President of the United States has given his two cents on the matter, calling for the Tennessee-based restaurant to go back on their changes and they’d have “a billion dollars worth of free publicity.” But as of right now, it seems like Cracker Barrel is standing its ground… for whatever reason. They put out a long-winded statement addressing the matter on August 25, and basically said they wouldn’t be changing course even with all of the backlash: “If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices. You’ve also shown us that we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be. What has not changed, and what will never change, are the values this company was built on when Cracker barrel first opened in 1969: hard work, family, and scratch-cooked food made with care. A place where everyone feels at home, no matter where you’re from or where you’re headed. That’s the Cracker Barrel you’ll always find… While our logo and remodels may be making headlines, our bigger focus is still right where it belongs… in the kitchen and on your plate: serving generous portions of the food you crave at fair prices and doing it with the kind of country hospitality that brightens your days and creates lasting memories. We also want to be sure Cracker Barrel is here for the next generation of families, just as it has been for yours. That means showing up on new platforms and in new ways, but always with our heritage at the heart. We take that responsibility very seriously. We know we won’t always get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning, and listening to our guests and employees. At the end of the day, our promise is simple: you’ll always find comfort, community, and country hospitality here at Cracker Barrel. Uncle Herschel wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Thank you for caring so much and come see for yourself the country hospitality that makes Cracker Barrel feel like home.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Cracker Barrel (@crackerbarrel) If you don’t change back Cracker Barrel, who knows what other country music stars and their significant others will fire shots at you. Is that what you really want? The post Jason Aldean & His Wife, Brittany, Join Cracker Barrel Boycott: “Y’all Been Actin’ A Fool” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Lana Del Ray Confirms “Majority” Of New Album Will Be Country – “When I Was Looking To Make A Country Record, No One Else Was Thinking About Country”

In an age where some of the biggest stars in pop are going country, highlighted of course by Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion and Beyonce’s COWBOY CARTER last year, there’s been one artist that has seemingly been teasing her crossover into the genre for years. That artist is none other than Lana Del Ray. Del Ray, the 11x Grammy nominee, has made a name for herself in the alt-pop scene with massive records such as 2011’s Born to Die and its follow-up, Ultraviolence, in 2014. Falling somewhere in between indie, pop and alt-pop, all with an Americana aesthetic visually, she’s been inching her way into the country scene over the past years. Back in 2023, she began her slow venture into the genre. In addition to her incredibly unique, piano-backed cover of John Denver’s classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” (which is quite good, I might add), she began making appearances in Nashville. Most famously, she covered Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” during a surprise appearance at Robert’s Western World in Nashville that September. In February 2024 at the Grammy Awards, she said that her 10th album, “Lasso,” would be a country record produced by Jack Antonoff (famous for being Taylor Swift’s producer). In the interview, she cited the industry’s push towards country music as her main inspiration: “If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening. That’s why Jack has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.” However, that album would later be delayed in November of 2024 and renamed to The Right Person Will Stay, which was slated for a May 21, 2025. Obviously, The Right Person Will Stay was never released. However, we have a new update from the “Summertime Sadness” singer that confirms her country album is, in fact, coming. In a recent interview with W Magazine, a style magazine which serves as a sister publication to Women’s Wear Daily, Del Ray opened up about her new marriage with Jeremy Dufrane, living in Louisiana and, of course, her upcoming album. In the interview, Del Ray expressed her affinity for the storytelling present in country music, citing tracks such as Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings’ “Luckenbach, Texas” and Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode to Billie Joe,” as well as Joni Mitchell’s “California” and “California Dreamin'” as some of her favorites: “The storytelling is there in both. And I’m always drawn to world-creating in country music.” As reported by W Magazine, her new country album will be titled Stove and will “likely be released at the end of January 2026.” Del Ray explained that the record was delayed due to the addition of six autobiographical songs: “They were more autobiographical than I thought, and that took more time.” Del Ray also confirmed that Stove will be co-produced with the legendary Luke Laird, along with Antonoff. In case you’re unaware of Laird’s prominence in Nashville over the years, he’s written over 20 #1 hits and has written for the likes of Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, Jon Pardi, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen and more. Additionally, he produced Kacey Musgraves’ Grammy-winning Same Trailer, Different Park, in 2013. Discussing the record itself, she noted that a “majority” of the album will have a country flair, adding that she’s been wanting to make a country album for the past eight years when “no one else” was thinking about the genre: “The majority of the album will have a country flair. Eight years ago, when I was looking to make a country record, no one else was thinking about country. Now everyone is going country! I’ve asked myself, Should I retire all my snakeskin boots? Should I put my cowboy hats in storage?” Overall, only time will tell how Del Ray’s venture into the genre will ultimately be. With that being said, however, I have more faith in her compared to most pop stars who have tried to their hand at country music. It’s clear she has knowledge and respect for the genre due to her past performances of classics like “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Stand By Your Man,” and her voice suits the genre. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I’m totally here for it. While you’re here, check out her cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads:” The post Lana Del Ray Confirms “Majority” Of New Album Will Be Country – “When I Was Looking To Make A Country Record, No One Else Was Thinking About Country” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Trump to Appoint Scavino to Run Presidential Personnel Office

President Donald Trump will appoint Dan Scavino as the director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, giving him control of staffing the administration. Scavino is a long-time Trump advisor, having worked as an executive for the Trump National Golf Club before Trump’s reentry into politics in 2015. “There is nobody better to ensure the president’s administration is staffed with the most qualified, competent, and America First-driven workers. There is much still to be done and Dan’s leadership will ensure the highest quality, most dedicated workforce ever,” announced White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.  The move follows the appointment of Trump’s previous PPO head, Sergio Gor, to be ambassador to India and special envoy for South and Central Asian affairs. Gor’s earlier decision to pull the nomination of Jared Isaacman for head of NASA allegedly served as the impetus for the split between the Trump administration and Elon Musk in the early summer.
