New York City Imposes Travel Ban As Massive Blizzard Approaches

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced a city-wide travel ban across the five boroughs as the Big Apple faces the possibility of up to two feet of snow Sunday night into Monday. ALERT: New York City Under Blizzard Warning As Vicious Nor’easter Targets Northeast "All bridges, highways, and streets will be closed to traffic from 9pm Sunday thru noon Monday. No cars, trucks, scooters, or e-bikes. Limited exemptions for essential and emergency movement," New York City Comptroller Mark D. Levine said. "This is projected to be NYC’s worst blizzard in a decade, with extremely dangerous conditions. Please take this seriously. Stay home if at all possible," he added. ** TRAVEL BAN FOR NYC ** All bridges, highways, and streets will be closed to traffic from 9pm Sunday thru noon Monday. No cars, trucks, scooters, or e-bikes. Levine (@MarkLevineNYC) February 22, 2026 Mamdani shared further info below: The snow is back. But New York is ready. Here's everything you should know about tomorrow's blizzard. Experts have warned residents to expect 70 mph wind gusts, and widespread power outages as the historic storm intensifies through Sunday night. More than 7,000 flights had been canceled across the Northeast region as of Sunday afternoon. New York City, Boston and Philadelphia are all projected to receive between 18 and 24 inches of snow. The nation's capital is still expected to see 5-8 inches, along with nearby Baltimore, whose projections have come down overnight. Blizzard warnings currently are in place for 29 million Americans. New York City on Saturday put out a call for emergency snow shovelers ahead of the storm. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency for New York City, and Mamdani announced outreach teams have been mobilized. "Tomorrow (Mon 2/23) is a full snow day — no remote learning, no logging on. Our first real snow day in seven years. This blizzard is serious. Stay inside. Travel ban 9pm–noon tomorrow so crews can keep streets clear. After the worst passes, bundle up and enjoy the snow — safely," Mamdani said. NYC public schools: Tomorrow (Mon 2/23) is a full snow day — no remote learning, no logging on. Mamdani said a violation of the travel ban would constitute a Class B misdemeanor, but that the city’s focus will be on compliance rather than punishment. Long Island and Westchester are also under travel bans beginning at 9 p.m., Governor Kathy Hochul said. In New Jersey, commercial vehicles are banned from many highways starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, and highway speed limits have been temporarily lowered to 35 mph. Connecticut also declared a state of emergency and restricted commercial vehicles traveling on highways starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Public transit was also cutting service. Long Island Rail Road service will be reduced on select branches as early as 7 p.m. Sunday, and will be fully suspended by 1 a.m. The Metro-North Railroad will run hourly service on the Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven lines and weekend service on the Connecticut and Wassaic branches. The Staten Island Railway will run every half hour on Monday, with no express service. NJ Transit planned to halt bus, light rail and Access Link service Sunday at 6 p.m. Officials expected to suspend rail service.

HILARIOUS! “John Barron” (Known Trump Pseudonym) Calls Into C-Span To Rip The Supreme Court Ruling!

This is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time…. A caller named John just called into C-Span claiming to be a “Republican” and then trashing the Supreme Court’s Tariff’s ruling and also trashing a bunch of Democrats. The funny part? It sounds EXACTLY like Donald J. Trump and “John Barron” was a pseudonym he reportedly, famously used back in the 1990s to “anonymously” call the press and plant positive stories. You have to love this guy! Watch here: BREAKING: John Barron (Trump’s known past pseudonym) called into C-SPAN to complain about the Supreme Court’s tariff decision. pic.twitter.com/xqxqIqpLwK — Leading Report (@LeadingReport) February 22, 2026 Backup here if needed: So now the big question….is that call real? Well, all sources I could find said the call and C-Span video footage is indeed real — but the identity of Donald J. Trump posing as “John” is in question: C-SPAN Broadcast Analysis: February 20, 2026 Yes, this appears to be a real call that aired live on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal program on February 20, 2026, shortly after the Supreme Court’s ruling in Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump. The clip shared in the X post is an authentic excerpt from that broadcast, featuring host Greta Brawner taking viewer calls on the topic of the tariff decision. Identity of the Caller However, the caller—introduced as “John from Virginia, Republican” but self-identifying as “John Barron”—is widely reported to be a prankster doing a Trump impersonation, not Donald Trump himself. While the voice and mannerisms mimic Trump’s style closely (including his cadence, tangents, and insults), and “John Barron” was a known pseudonym Trump used in the 1980s and ’90s to speak anonymously to reporters, there’s no evidence it’s actually him. Public Reception and Context Speculation: Some social media users and commentators have speculated it could be Trump. Mainstream Reporting: Mainstream reports describe it as a hoax or spot-on impression. Official Response: Trump addressed the ruling in a White House press briefing later that day, making an anonymous call-in unlikely. Obviously it sounds exactly like him, but there are some great impersonators out there. Personally, I like to hold out hope in my mind that it was Shawn Farash calling in: TRUMP CONGRATULATES TEAM USA HOCKEY! pic.twitter.com/5w8FfuWcXN — Shawn Farash (@Shawn_Farash) February 22, 2026 The NY Post referred to the call as an apparent prankster: An apparent prankster dialed into C-SPAN Friday using President Trump’s famous pseudonym “John Barron” and sporting a remarkably family accent called into the public access channel to rant about the Supreme Court’s tariff ruling. Impersonating Trump’s brash Queens accent, the caller described himself as a Republican from Virginia and slammed the Supreme Court’s decision to take a sledgehammer to the president’s tariff agenda. “This is the worst decision you ever have in your life, practically,” Barron vented. “But this is a terrible decision.” “And you have Hakeem Jeffries, who, he’s [sic] a dope, and you have Chuck Schumer, who can’t cook a cheeseburger. Of course, these people are happy. Of course, these people are happy, but true Americans will not be happy.” C-SPAN host Greta Brawner quickly interrupted and cut the caller off, switching to others. The White House did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment. Early on in Trump’s first term, it emerged that he had used pseudonyms such as “John Barron” to call up journalists in attempts to frame certain narratives, particularly about his net worth. Audio from those calls showed that “John Barron” sounded remarkably like Trump. C-SPAN had been fielding calls from viewers across the country in reaction to the Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling that Trump cannot use the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs. The “John Barron” legend dates back to the early 1990s: Despite denying it was him, CNN once aired all the times Trump called into journalists as John Barron They reported at the time that it was such an obvious “open secret for so long that it’s hard to believe anyone is still questioning it.” pic.twitter.com/FJURdzjVeV — Dr.Sam Youssef Ph.D.,M.Sc.,DPT. TSA Policy Reversal Creates Travel Confusion Amid Partial Government Shutdown

There has been widespread confusion after the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said PreCheck airport security lanes would operate normally. “At this time, TSA PreCheck remains operational with no change for the traveling public,” TSA officials said in a statement. “As staffing constraints arise, TSA will evaluate on a case by case basis and adjust operations accordingly. Courtesy escorts, such as those for Members of Congress, have been suspended to allow officers to focus on the mission of securing America’s skies,” it added. Courtesy escorts, such as those for Members of Congress, have been suspended to allow officers to focus on the mission of securing America's skies. (2/2) — TSA (@TSA) February 22, 2026 The TSA’s statement follows an announcement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that it intended to shut down the faster security checkpoints amid the partial government shutdown. CNBC explained further: DHS early Sunday said that PreCheck and Global Entry and other program suspensions were scheduled to take effect at 6 a.m. ET on Sunday. As of 12:40 p.m. ET, its updated statement still included a suspension of Global Entry but it had removed its mention of PreCheck. “We are glad that DHS has decided to keep PreCheck operational and avoid a crisis of its own making,” Geoff Freeman, chief executive of U.S. Travel, an industry group whose members include major airlines, hotel chains like Hyatt and Marriott International and tourism boards around the country. The move comes as a partial U.S. government shutdown that has left thousands of DHS workers, including TSA airport screeners, working without pay since it started on Feb. 14. “TSA and CBP are prioritizing the general traveling population at our airports and ports of entry and suspending courtesy and special privilege escorts,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said, according to the outlet. “Democrat members of Congress are getting paid, but they’re withholding @TSA workers pay checks. Democrats in Congress have chosen to not fund @DHSgov, which means that all of our TSA workers who showed up today are not getting paid,” Noem wrote on X. “The men and women of TSA work hard to make sure you and your loved ones can fly safely. This political theater is only making it hard on them and their families. If you see a TSA officer today, thank them!” she continued. Democrat members of Congress are getting paid, but they’re withholding @TSA workers pay checks. Democrats in Congress have chosen to not fund @DHSgov, which means that all of our TSA workers who showed up today are not getting paid. The men and women of TSA work hard to make… pic.twitter.com/JdPsM3ozXZ — Secretary Kristi Noem (@Sec_Noem) February 22, 2026 More from the Associated Press: The security disruptions come at a time where a major winter storm will hit the East Coast from Sunday into Monday. Nine out of 10 flights going out of John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Boston Logan Airport have been canceled for Monday. Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to use expedited kiosks when entering the United States from abroad. There’s no specific government data that shows how much time passengers save at airports or other ports of entry from Global Entry but travel industry experts estimate that Global Entry cuts the amount of time passengers getting through customs from an average of 30 to 90 mins for regular customs lines to 5 to 10 minutes in Global Entry lines. Those who have Global Entry also receive TSA PreCheck. The Department of Homeland Security said in 2024 that more than 20 million Americans had TSA PreCheck, and millions of those Americans have overlapping Global Entry memberships. Airport lines seemed largely unaffected through midday Sunday, with security check line wait times listed as under 15 minutes for most international airports, according to TSA’s mobile app. Amy Wainscott, 42, flew from the Destin-Fort Walton Beach airport in Florida to Dallas Love Field on Sunday and said she didn’t hear about the shutdown until she had already gone through TSA’s PreCheck. “When we got to the airport this morning everything was working like usual,” she said. “It didn’t seem like anything had changed.” Jean Fay, 54, said she had no issues going through TSA PreCheck at the Baltimore airport for her 6 a.m. Sunday flight back home to Texas. She didn’t hear about the shutdown until she was changing planes in Austin, Texas, on her way to Dallas Love Field.

Chaos Erupts In Mexico After Cartel Boss ‘El Mencho’ Killed By Special Forces

Chaos swept across parts of western Mexico on Sunday following the killing of one of the country’s most feared cartel leaders in a military operation that officials say was carried out with U.S. cooperation. Mexican special forces killed Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, the longtime head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), during an operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco, according to the Mexican government. Oseguera was widely regarded as one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world. According to the Mexican Embassy in the United States, the United States provided “complementary information” to Mexican authorities as part of bilateral coordination. Following the operation, cartel members engaged in violent acts in parts of Jalisco, Michoacán, and Guanajuato, setting buses on fire and erecting roadblocks in multiple cities, according to Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro. In response, Lemus Navarro announced that schools throughout the state would be closed. The U.S. State Department urged American citizens to shelter in place if they are in Jalisco State — including Puerto Vallarta, Chapala, and Guadalajara — as well as Tamaulipas, parts of Michoacán, Guerrero, and Nuevo León. Additional footage appeared to show fires in the parking lot of a Costco in Puerto Vallarta, a coastal city popular with American tourists that draws millions of visitors each year. Derek Maltz, former acting administrator of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration until May, told The Daily Wire that Oseguera had long been the top cartel target for the United States. “Obviously, El Mencho has been like public enemy number one for many years. He’s built up this global enterprise with the CJNG,” Maltz said. “We’ve been sharing intelligence against Mencho for a long time. And we share intelligence daily with our counterparts in the embassy in Mexico.” Maltz added that the DEA, together with the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and others are working with their Mexican counterparts “every day to go after these cartel leaders.” Oseguera was one of Mexico’s most wanted men. The Mexican government had offered a 30 million peso reward — roughly $1.7 million — for information leading to his arrest. The United States had posted a $15 million reward, reported CNN. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has previously described the cartel as among the “most powerful and ruthless criminal organizations” operating inside Mexico, calling it a key supplier of illicit fentanyl and cocaine to the United States. The DEA added that the group’s facilitators and associates operate in nearly all 50 U.S. states. In 2022, the United States Department of Justice charged Oseguera with leading efforts to manufacture and distribute fentanyl for importation into the United States. The CJNG was later designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the Trump administration. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau celebrated the news on X. “I’ve just been informed that Mexican security forces have killed ‘El Mencho,’ one of the bloodiest and most ruthless drug kingpins,” Landau wrote. “This is a great development for Mexico, the U.S., Latin America, and the world. The good guys are stronger than the bad guys.” The Mexican government said various aircraft from the Air Force and the Special Immediate Reaction Force of the National Guard participated in the raid. During the operation, military personnel reportedly came under attack. “In defense of their physical integrity, they repelled the aggression,” the embassy said. Four CJNG members were killed at the scene. Three others, severely wounded, died during an airlift to Mexico City, including Oseguera. Several additional suspects were arrested. Authorities also seized armored vehicles and heavy weaponry, including rocket launchers capable of downing aircraft and destroying armored vehicles. Three Mexican security personnel were injured. “From day one, President Trump and this administration has made it clear that if you’re selling drugs and moving poisonous substances into America, you’re going to be held accountable,” Maltz said. “He declared the cartels as terrorists; he’s declared fentanyl a weapon of mass destruction. So he’s doing everything to put American citizens first.” He added that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has been highly cooperative with the Trump administration, sending 92 high-level Mexican cartel leaders and gang leaders to America to face justice. “That has never happened in the history of our war against the cartels,” Maltz said.

Kitten Learns to Trust with Encouragement from Her Cat Siblings, Now She Has Happiest Ending She Hoped for

A kitten learned to trust with encouragement from her cat siblings. Now, she has the happiest ending she ever hoped for. AndreLori WhiteLori White, a foster volunteer with Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership (ARPO), opened her home to a feline trio in need of a safe place to land. Among them was an exceptionally shy kitten named Venus.Found outdoors in the cold, Venus clung to her siblings for comfort and was too scared to move. Later, she bolted into a recliner and refused to come out. Lori and her husband carefully retrieved her and placed her in a playpen filled with soft beds and blankets. With all three finally settled, Lori made it her mission to help them learn that humans could be trusted. Andre, Serena, and VenusLori WhiteVenus's siblings, Serena and Andre, began exploring their surroundings, curious about all the new sights and smells. They were cautious around people at first , but hearty meals and a calm environment slowly chipped away at their fears. Before long, Serena blossomed into a little snuggle bug, and with some encouragement, her brother Andre followed in her paw steps. Venus, Serena, and AndreLori WhiteVenus, the shyest of the trio, began mandatory cuddle sessions several times a day. Wrapped in a soft blanket, she sat on her foster mom's lap, learning that gentle touch wasn't something to fear. With each stroke, her airplane ears softened.Though timid, Venus never showed an ounce of aggression. Watching her siblings seek out affection helped her realize that maybe she could do the same. VenusLori WhiteOver time, Venus's body language changed. Her flattened ears lifted. Her wary eyes relaxed. She started lounging in her playpen instead of frantically searching for a hiding spot. Being picked up still frightened her, but she was moving in the right direction.Daily cuddle sessions continued, along with a front-row seat to her siblings' positive interactions with people, reassuring her more each day. VenusLori WhiteLori later brought Venus upstairs, where she met the resident cats and dogs. After a quick tour of the bathroom, Venus approached Lori, who was working at the computer, and hopped onto her lap for affection. She finally let her guard down and revealed her true self. "Being my office assistant was her favorite activity," Lori shared. Lori WhiteJust two weeks after arriving, the once-fearful kitten now greeted her foster mom alongside her siblings, demanding dinner with a joyful kitty chorus. "This transformation makes me so happy. I'm so proud of how much they have improved.""Look at them being brave and hanging out in the open on our comfy chair. No more hiding." Serena and VenusLori White"Serena is the most outgoing of her litter and gets so excited for pets that you can hear her purring from across the room. Sitting still isn't really her style. She shows her love with happy wiggles and full-body rubs. Andre has chubby cheeks, a plush marbled coat with soft tan-peach accents, and the loudest purr once he settles in.""Just like her champion namesake, Venus is a gentle star in the making. Once shy, she's now a purring office assistant who loves lap time and making biscuits." Lori WhiteWith patience and plenty of love, the kittens were ready for their next chapter: finding their forever homes. When Andre met a family at a meet-and-greet, it was love at first sight. He quickly warmed up to them, rubbing against them as if to say, You've been chosen. Just hours later, he left with his forever humans, a dream come true. AndreLori WhiteVenus and Serena found their happily-ever-after together. The once-timid kitten will always have her outgoing sister by her side, encouraging her to play, explore, and be brave."Look at the difference in Venus's face, posture, and overall disposition," Lori said. "It wasn't hard. It just took patience, understanding, and love. Cases like this show the importance of fostering." Serena and VenusLori WhiteShare this story with your friends.
