Man once tried to outrun police on a mule — now he's in jail for allegedly weaponizing a raccoon

A Kentucky man was hit with multiple charges in connection with a strange case of unleashing a raccoon in a business during which the animal bit a person, according to police. Previously, the man was arrested for allegedly attempting to flee from police on a mule. The Murray Police Department said it received a complaint about a man intentionally releasing a raccoon inside a business at 9:18 p.m. on June 6. The individual — 40-year-old Jonathan Mason of Murray — purposely turned loose the wild animal and then fled from the business, police said. 'Upon officer arrival, Mason was outside the business and was manifestly under the influence of alcohol.'Police in a statement said that the raccoon bit a person inside the business. Police also noted that Mason previously had been ordered to stay off the property of the business.RELATED: VIDEO: VIDEO: Florida motorcyclists sent 'flying' headfirst after colliding with alligator on highway Murray police officers were able to track down Mason while he was driving his vehicle.Police stated that they conducted a traffic stop, but Mason "refused to roll down his windows or exit the vehicle." Officers were forced to physically remove him from the vehicle after he resisted, police said.Mason was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree trespassing, resisting arrest, and failure to maintain required insurance, according to jail records.Mason as of Friday morning was still behind bars in the Calloway County Jail. RELATED: Deputies shoot growling Florida man dead after 'bizarre' standoff — and just moments after he survived alligator attack: Cops Mason is no stranger to the Murray Police Department. He was arrested six months ago for another bizarre story involving an animal. Just after 9 p.m. Dec. 7, 2024, officers responded to a "local alcohol establishment" in regard to an "unruly individual." The Murray Police Department said in a statement, "Upon officer arrival, Mason was outside the business and was manifestly under the influence of alcohol.""Mason had ridden a mule to the establishment, and he refused to stop when ordered to by the officer," police added. "As the officer attempted to place Mason under arrest, Mason resisted."According to police, witnesses informed investigators that Mason mistreated the mule, including whipping the mule an “unnecessary amount” of times at a different establishment.Mason was arrested and booked in the Calloway County Jail on second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal trespassing, alcohol intoxication in a public place, and second-degree cruelty to animals.Just two days later — Dec. 9, 2024 — police said officers were dispatched to the area where this mule had been stabled regarding a seemingly intoxicated male who was "riding a mule down the roadway. An officer located Mason on his mule, but Mason refused to stop for the officer, and he fled on the mule on the roadway. Shortly after fleeing, Mason was arrested and lodged in the Calloway County Jail." Police said he was charged with third-degree fleeing or evading police and second-degree cruelty to animals.Like Blaze News? Most of the time, when a WWE wrestler wins a championship, they only hold that one title, as defending their belt becomes their top priority, and trying to multitask would be a very difficult challenge.

Rum Runner Cocktail

With fruity hints of banana and berries and a combination of rums, this Rum Runner Cocktail is a favorite summer beverage that is sure to satisfy! A FRUITY COCKTAIL RECIPE I love a good cocktail in the evening after a hot summers day! This Rum Runner Cocktail takes the cake when it comes to flavor. There is so much packed into all in one drink: banana, berry, rum, you name it. The best thing is that they work so well together. This is a classic cocktail that is and always has been perfect for those hot summer months. So whether you’re throwing a party, having a sip out on the deck, or just because, you need to make this Rum Runner! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: I can’t find blackberry liqueur, what can I use? I use Chambord which is a blackberry liqueur. If you can’t find that you can use Blackberry Brandy as a substitute. What does this taste like? While there are various different alcohols in this cocktail, the main flavor you will taste is banana with lighter notes of berries. So you really get it all, we just think that the banana sticks out the most. What kind of rum is best? I like to use both white and dark rum for this recipe. I use Captain Morgan for the white rum and Meyers for the dark rum. You can use any of your favorite light and dark rum recipes in this that you like. Just use what you have on hand. If you only have light rum, just use that instead of the combination of the two. Can I use bottled lime juice? While I HIGHLY recommend using fresh lime juice for anything, you can use bottled in a pinch but it really will not taste as good. I do not like bottled lime juice at all. Can this be made for a crowd? Yes! This is great to make in a pitcher or a punch bowl. Just mix all the ingredients together (tripling the recipe). Stir everything together and place in the refrigerator. When you are ready to serve, just pour over ice in glasses Can I store any leftovers? This drink is meant to be made right before it is consumed. You can store for a few hours in the refrigerator but I would not keep any longer than that. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) white rum – I just use good ole Captain Morgan. dark rum – I love the combination of rums. I think it really takes the flavor to the next. For the dark rum, I use a Jamaican rum (Myers). banana liqueur – there are several brands for this. I tend to usually only find the 99 Banana liquor at our ABC store but use what you prefer. This one is excellent though. Chambord or blackberry liqueur – I used Chambord but you can use any blackberry liqueur for this. pineapple juice – in the ingredient image below, you’ll see I have a fresh pineapple, this is just for garnishing the drinks. I just grab a can of Dole pineapple juice to use in the drinks. lime juice – always gotta be fresh lime juice – not the stuff in the bottle. It is far too acidic and I think it ruins the taste. grenadine – grenadine is pomegranate flavored but I have also made this with the syrup in the maraschino cherry jar and it was a huge hit. HOW TO MAKE A RUM RUNNER COCKTAIL: Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.  Add the white rum, dark rum, banana liqueur, chambord, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine to the cocktail shaker. Add the top and shake vigorously. Pour over ice in a glass. Garnish with blackberries, lime, pineapple, and cherries if using, serve immediately. WANT MORE DELICIOUS DRINK RECIPES? Add 1 ounce white rum, 1 ounce dark rum, 1 ounce banana liqueur, ½ ounce chambord or blackberry liqueur, 2 ounces pineapple juice. 1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice and ½ ounce grenadine to the cocktail shaker. Add the top and shake vigorously. Pour over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with blackberries, lime slices, pineapple slices and maraschino cherries. Then serve! Notes This can be made for a crowd, just make more of the recipe and place in a pitcher or punch bowl and serve over ice. You can use light rum instead of a combination of white and dark rum. I do not recommend storing for more than a few hours in the refrigerator. Blackberry Brandy can be used as a substitute for blackberry liqueur (a.k.a. Chambord).
