Congress Erupts As House Poised To Reject Senate Deal To End DHS Shutdown

House Republican leaders seem poised to kill the Department of Homeland Security shutdown deal passed by the Senate early on Friday morning. The Senate bill would fund all elements of DHS except for ICE and Border Patrol, with no immigration reforms made. However, many House Republicans have strongly opposed the deal passed by the Senate, arguing it caves to the Democrats. “We are not playing their games. These people want open borders, and they want criminal illegal aliens in the country,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said of Democrats while addressing reporters on Friday. Johnson said Trump “supports” the plan, noting that this will be the fourth time the House has voted to fund DHS. The Daily Wire reached out to the White House for comment. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that a continuing resolution proposal would not succeed in the Senate, calling it “dead on arrival.” “Senate Democrats worked with Senate Republicans to reach a UNANIMOUS agreement to fund vital functions at DHS, including TSA, FEMA, CISA, and secure our ports of entry,” Schumer said in a statement. “We’ve been clear from day one: Democrats will fund critical Homeland Security functions — but we will not give a blank check to Trump’s lawless and deadly immigration militia without reforms,” the Democrat added. Some members, like Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), want to see voter identification added to a DHS funding bill, as the Senate struggles to pass the SAVE America Act, which is considered the top legislative priority of the president. Rep. Mark Harris (R-NC) even explicitly blamed Senate Republicans for backing the deal made. “I am done with Senate Republicans. Their failure to fully fund DHS is not just disappointing — it’s a disgrace,” Harris posted to X. “They refused to fund ICE units that target sex traffickers. They refused to fund Border Patrol agents. And where is the SAVE America Act?” “Once again, they have failed the American people. They have made one thing clear: Americans’ safety is not their priority,” he added. Meanwhile, some Republicans in the House, like Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Rep. Carlos Giménez (R-FL), argued that the House pursuing an alternative solution would only delay funding the department, according to the Wall Street Journal. On the Senate side, Senate Majority Leader John Thune posted to X on Friday that “Dems got ZERO restrictions that would prevent ICE and CBP agents from doing their jobs safely.” “Dem leadership has proven once again they can’t be trusted to make a deal,” Thune continued. “Which begs the question if you’re a Dem senator or one of their left-wing supporters: What was this really all about?”

‘Looksmaxxer’ Clavicular Gets Florida Mugshot After He’s Filmed Unloading A Clip On Gator

The man known online by millions for the new phrase “looksmaxxing” — the practice of maximizing appearance — got to pose for a mugshot on Thursday after being arrested on a battery charge in Florida. Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Peters, has long been controversial for the methods he employs to achieve his physique, but his run in with the law in Fort Lauderdale is not a good look. The battery charge stemmed from a case out of Osceola County, Florida, just south of Orlando. Osceola deputies were able to team up with Fort Lauderdale police to locate Peters and make the arrest. The warrant was for misdemeanor battery, court documents stated. The TikTok star’s bond was set at $1,000, and he has since bonded out. Credit: Broward County Sheriff’s Office According to NBC Miami, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office officials said Peters and another woman — identified as 24-year-old Violet Marie Lentz — are accused of participating in the battery of a 19-year-old girl at a rental home near Kissimmee, Florida. The 19-year-old was allegedly battered by Lentz in the home that was rented by Peters, and detectives have asserted that it was Peters who instigated the fight and then posted the incident on social media. In addition to this case, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is looking into a video circulating that appears to show Peters shooting an alligator in the Everglades. A FWC spokesperson sent this statement to The Daily Wire: “The FWC is aware of a video depicting individuals in the Everglades on an airboat who appear to be discharging firearms at an alligator. FWC officers are continuing to look into the incident and will provide additional information when available. To report wildlife violations, call the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922.” The FWC is aware of a video depicting individuals in the Everglades on an airboat who appear to be discharging firearms at an alligator. During the stream, the boat stopped by what looked like a dead alligator, and Peters and another man opened fire. The two fired multiple shots at the dead gator in the video, which was obtained by TMZ. His streaming account appears to have been taken down. The alligator video, while being looked at by the FWC, is not related to the arrest by Fort Lauderdale Police. Peters has created quite the online image for himself under the name “Clavicular.” The 20-year-old makes content that revolves around his physical appearance. He will sometimes showcase the extreme methods he uses to appear more attractive, which he began employing at 14 years old. In an interview with Michael Knowles in late 2025, Peters claimed that he used to “smash his face with a hammer” to help improve his bone structure. Since sharing his “looksmaxxing” lifestyle, he has built a following of hundreds of thousands on social media and has even walked runways in fashion shows.

Kash Patel’s Personal Email Hacked By Iranians

FBI Director Kash Patel’s personal email account was hacked, with some of his correspondence and photos leaked online by a group linked to Iran that has vowed to go after “all the enemies of Islam in the West.” The FBI confirmed to The Daily Wire that Patel’s account was hacked, but added that “no government information” was compromised. The FBI said there is a $10 million reward for information on an Iranian group called the Handala Hack Team, which “has frequently targeted U.S. government officials.” “The FBI is aware of malicious actors targeting Director Patel’s personal email information, and we have taken all necessary steps to mitigate potential risks associated with this activity,” the bureau said. “The information in question is historical in nature and involves no government information.” The hackers released around 300 documents and multiple photos of Patel. The email correspondence leaked by the hackers was dated between 2010 and 2019, Reuters reported. Some of the photos leaked from Patel’s personal email include images showing Patel smoking a cigar and standing next to an antique car. The Handala group is believed to be used by the Iranian regime to carry out cyberattacks on targets throughout the world. The hackers pledge their loyalty to “the supreme leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei” and “declare war on all the enemies of Islam in the West.” Earlier this month, Handala hackers took credit for illegally gaining access to the server of Stryker, a company in Michigan that provides medical devices. Just last week, the Justice Department removed four websites operated by the Iranian-backed Handala group. The hackers used the websites to post sensitive stolen data. The website operators also called for “the killing of journalists, regime dissidents, and Israeli persons,” according to the Justice Department. “Iran thought they could hide behind fake websites and keyboard threats to terrorize Americans and silence dissidents,” Patel said after the Justice Department took down Handala’s websites. “We took down four of their operation’s pillars and we’re not done. This FBI will hunt down every actor behind these cowardly death threats and cyberattacks and will bring the full force of American law enforcement down on them.” The hack targeting Patel appears to be in response to the Justice Department’s actions, as the domain used to hack Patel’s personal email was registered on the same day the Justice Department announced its crackdown on Handala’s domains. “Kash Patel, the current head of the FBI, who once saw his name displayed with pride on the agency’s headquarters, will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims,” the hackers wrote on their website. “The so-called ‘impenetrable’ systems of the FBI were brought to their knees within hours by our team.”

‘ABSURD’: House Rejects Senate DHS Bill

House Republican leadership and the party’s hardline conservative faction rejected the Senate’s homeland security funding deal, which omits funding for border security. “The Republicans are not going to be any part of any effort to reopen our borders or to stop immigration enforcement,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., said Friday afternoon as he announced his intention to advance an eight-week stopgap funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security instead. “We are going to deport dangerous criminal illegal aliens because it is a basic function of the government. The Democrats fundamentally disagree,” he said. The bill, which would extend funding of the agency to May 22, has little chance of passing the Senate as written. Democrats have demanded additional restraints on immigration enforcement as a condition of funding the entire department. Early Friday morning, the Senate agreed by unanimous consent to fund key agencies within DHS, such as the Transportation Security Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Coast Guard, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, before leaving for recess. However, the bill did not fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement and most of Customs and Border Protection. House conservative hardliners outright rejected the Senate proposal, stating their desire to fund immigration enforcement and include a requirement for photo identification to vote in federal elections. The Senate abdicated its responsibility. No funding for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which fights child sex trafficking. No funding for Border Patrol. No voter ID.Bad for America. Bad for Americans.Full @freedomcaucus press conference ? pic.twitter.com/G3eksYsK9s— Rep. Eric Burlison (@RepEricBurlison) March 27, 2026 “It’s absurd,” said Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, at a Friday press conference with fellow Freedom Caucus members. “I mean, could the Senate be any more lazy than to send us a bill that doesn’t do the job and then leave town?” Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., a member of the House appropriations committee, said, “We can’t take a bill up that literally is defunding the priorities of the president, the things that we ran on, the reasons that we were elected.” Moore added, “We need to amend that bill, put our priorities back in it.” The House rules committee, the leadership-controlled panel that determines the conditions for debate of bills on the House floor, would also need to support a funding bill before a floor vote. Committee member Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., called the Senate’s work “ridiculous,” attributing it to “pure laziness and desire for the Senate to go on vacation instead of doing their job.” My constituents didn’t send me to Washington to defund ICE and not pass the SAVE America Act.We need to amend this bill to:– fund ICE– fund CBP– add Voter IDThe American people need to us to hold the line. pic.twitter.com/uqCaQ28KmN— Rep. Riley M. Moore (@RepRileyMoore) March 27, 2026 On the ensuing House Republican conference call, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., announced his alternative plan of a clean extension of funding for the department. Rather than clear a path for ending a six-week shutdown, the Senate’s after-midnight deal may be more of a setback. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was quick to speak on behalf of his party in opposition to the House Republicans’ plan. “A 60-day CR that locks in the status quo is dead on arrival in the Senate, and Republicans know it,” wrote Schumer on X.
