POLITICO: Making Dems Defend the Indefensible on Crime Is a 'Ploy'

The leader of a Druze village in the Golan Heights spoke out against the efforts by the world media and the left to dismiss the story of the recent slaughter and raping of his people’s kin in Syria by radical Islamic terrorists and Syrian government forces. During the Newsmax delegation to Israel, we visited the Ein Qiniyye village on the southern foothills of Mount Hermon, and spoke with Druze mayor Wael Moghrabi about the plight of the Druze people. Not only did he praise Israel for intervening in Syria to halt the carnage through a bevy of airstrikes, but he emphasized that the attempts by Islamists to exterminate his people underscore why the media and the left whitewashing the story is nothing short of barbaric: “Just like the Nazis in the past, their goal is one: They want to eradicate the Druze community and then they want to eradicate Israel.” He continued, offering up a strong warning to the world media: “They will come with tens of thousands of jihadis to the border with Israel and they will try to eliminate us.” Moghrabi isn’t alone in calling out the media silence on the attacks on the Druze people. Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation director general Jack Simony wrote in a July 21 op-ed that “[m]uch of the media has ignored the scale of these atrocities — or framed them as tribal clashes, erasing the truth of systematic extermination. This distortion compounds the violence and obscures the urgency of intervention.”  British journalist Melanie Phillips also condemned in a July 17 column how “[v]arious media outlets reported these atrocities as ‘tit for tat’ skirmishes between the Druze and Bedouin tribes.”  MRC Business decided to use the opportunity with the Ein Qiniyye mayor to tell the Druze story that the world media was ignoring. Moghrabi highlighted how “the Druze community has been oppressed for centuries. And the Arab world is bashing the Druze just like they did also with the Jews.” What is happening in the city of As Sweida and Jabal al-Druze (also known as “Mountain of the Druze”), said Moghrabi, “they are oppressing the Druze community.”  Moghrabi blasted attempts by media outlets to make Islamist Syrian president Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa, known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, out to be some kind of civilian convert after openly leading terrorist organizations like Jabhat al-Nusra and Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS). “Suddenly, he’s taking off his Islamist clothes and he puts on a suit and a tie and the entire Western world is hugging him.” He’s right. A litany of media outlets have gone to great lengths to prop up the jihadist al-Jolani as if he had found religion or something, no pun intended.  The BBC ran a ludicrous December 2024 piece headlined, “From Syrian jihadist leader to rebel politician: How Abu Mohammed al-Jolani reinvented himself.” CNN absurdly framed al-Jolani as a “Syrian rebel leader” whose “goal is to ‘overthrow’ Assad regime” in another December 2024 piece of propaganda. Readers wouldn’t know until the seventh paragraph down that al-Jolani’s HTS was designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization. Not to be outdone, a story by the anti-Israel New York Times made al-Jolani out to be some kind of unsung hero against Bashar al-Assad’s dictatorial regime: “Leader of Syria’s Resurgent Rebels Lays Out Strategy to Oust Assad.” But it would be his new regime that would be behind wanton slaughter of the Druze people, as the Foundation for Defense of Democracies research fellow Hussain Abdul-Hussain summarized: With electricity and internet restored, videos surfaced: hundreds of summary executions, an unarmed Druze man shot by Sharaa’s forces without question, another pleading for his life before being killed for being Druze. Government forces looted shops and homes, desecrated houses of worship and left graffiti vowing to exterminate the Druze and establish an Islamist state. The massacres are an open indictment upon media organizations that have tried to legitimize al-Jolani, as Moghrabi suggested. “The world does not see the real face of al-Jolani. After he took power, he went to the mosque and in his sermon, he said, ‘We have freed Syria but now we are facing towards Jerusalem. The next goal that we have is to free Jerusalem,” Moghrabi said in warning Americans that al-Jolani’s real mission is jihad against the Jewish State. As for his people, Moghrabi emphasized that “al-Jolani’s message is very simple: He hates the Druze community. He said that the Druze split off from Islam and that they should be oppressed,” Moghrabi stated. “They regard the Druze as people that betrayed Islam and their faith is to be oppressed.” Al-Jolani, said Moghrabi, “wants to erase all the minorities. He’s trying to eradicate the Druze community and he’s trying to bash Israel.”  The world media should be utterly ashamed of themselves for assisting al-Jolani’s phony attempt to rebrand himself.

A teenage girl was charged with brandishing a weapon after a viral video appeared online.Scottish police reportedly responded to a call from the Lochee area of Dundee, Scotland, on Saturday evening, the National reported. Multiple police units were reportedly on scene after a young girl was seen with a bladed weapon, and to make matters worse, the young girl has been connected to a disturbing viral video from the weekend that has garnered over 20 million views.'Don't f**king touch us.'"Around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, we received a report of a female youth with a bladed weapon in St Ann Lane, Dundee," Police Scotland said, per the Daily Record. "Officers attended and a 14-year-old girl was charged in connection. She will be reported to the relevant authorities."The reason the girl was carrying the blade is allegedly linked to a viral video where two young girls are seen yelling at a man recording them. The man did not seem to have a Scottish accent, while a Dundee bus in the background appeared to confirm the location.The video was dated August 24, with reports of the charges coming the following day."Don't f**king touch us," one girl is heard saying in the video. One of the young ladies is seen brandishing a large knife and small axe as she and another girl demand the man filming the video to leave them alone. At the same time, other alleged details posted to X made the story even more disturbing.RELATED: Why the English flag now terrifies the regime "The story keeps getting worse," the account that posted the video later wrote.An attached image said the teen's 12-year-old sister was being approached by a Muslim man when she brandished the weapons. However, another X user claimed the young girl was having an altercation with another girl and attached an article from the Scottish Sun. That article did not provide any additional details, though.Blaze News contacted Police Scotland for additional comment on the matter. The Republican National Committee was dealt a blow by a unanimous decision of the Third Circuit Appeals Court in the RNC's effort to discard undated and misdated ballots in Pennsylvania.The three-judge panel said in the 55-page ruling that the affected ballots needed to be counted and failing to do so was unconstitutional. Pennsylvania voters are required to write the date on the envelope for their mail-in ballots.'Discarding thousands of ballots every election is not a reasonable trade-off in view of the date requirement's extremely limited and unlikely capacity to detect and deter fraud.'"The date requirement imposes a burden on Pennsylvanians' constitutional right to vote," the court ruling reads. "And it culminates in county election boards discarding thousands of ballots each time an election is held. The date requirement will not protect against the vast majority of attempts at voter fraud."The RNC unsuccessfully sought to discard those thousands of ballots for the 2025 election. The group argued that the number of affected ballots could swing some of the races."The date requirement seems to hamper rather than facilitate election efficiency. By its nature, it fails to add solemnity to the process of voting," the court continued. "The fundamental right to vote is among the most precious rights we enjoy as Pennsylvanians, and it should take more than a trivial paperwork error to take it away."President Donald Trump has said that he intends to focus on ending all mail-in balloting. President Donald Trump stunned his own supporters Monday night when he told reporters he would guarantee 600,000 visa spots for Chinese college students, calling the move “very important.”The announcement rattled some of Trump’s closest allies, many of whom distrust Beijing, the nationals it sends abroad, and its larcenous trade and technology practices. These allies had been hoping for a sharp reset in U.S.-China relations. But perhaps no one should be shocked. Has Trump’s thinking on China really shifted at all?No one should be shocked. Trump has never hidden his priorities. We’ve known this reality for a long time.China remains a central focus for many in Trump’s inner circle. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and trade adviser Peter Navarro have all pressed for a tougher approach. Outside figures like “Shark Tank’s” Kevin O’Leary and “War Room” host Steve Bannon argue for an even deeper break — a full decoupling of the two economies.Observers who hoped this faction would steer Trump’s policy have grown uneasy as his dealings with Beijing continue. Even so, Monday’s promise jolted them."It’s a very important relationship,” Trump said of Chinese-American dealings. “As you know, we’re taking a lot of money in from China. ... We’re going to allow their students to come in; it's very important. ... It’s a different relationship that we have now with China; it’s a much better relationship economically than it was before.”Trump cited 600,000 visas — more than double the already staggering 270,000 Chinese students estimated to be studying in the United States. Every one of those students comes with Beijing’s explicit approval and often faces pressure and demands from the regime while abroad. That reality has drawn the eye of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who promised this spring to “aggressively review” Chinese student visas.But should anyone be surprised by what came out of the Oval Office? Trump has never claimed his priority was decoupling. His goal has always been the same: getting a better deal. From his first book, “The Art of the Deal,” to his earliest interviews with Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, and Diane Sawyer, Trump repeated the same theme: “America is being ripped off. We’re a debtor nation.”Even as he has sought to reimagine America’s foreign policy, his consistency is striking. He once took out full-page ads in the Boston Globe, New York Times, and Washington Post blasting U.S. taxpayers for subsidizing the defenses of wealthy nations — from Japan to Saudi Arabia — while those same allies exploited American trade policies.His open letter was titled, “There's nothing wrong with America's foreign defense policy that a little backbone can’t cure." That was on September 2, 1987 — 38 years ago next week. Sound familiar?From Japan and Saudi Arabia to China and NATO, Trump has always framed foreign policy around getting a better deal. But China is not just another trading partner. Beijing steals American technology; spies on universities, businesses, and labs; poisons young Americans through predatory tech platforms; censors Hollywood to match its propaganda; and floods our economy with cheap plastic garbage. It parks money in U.S. stocks to distort markets, buys farmland and real estate near military bases, and underwrites it all with cooked books, pirated products, and virtual slave labor.No “better deal” fixes those problems. If American universities have become financially dependent on this racket — as Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick told Laura Ingraham Monday night — then the solution is to break that dependence, not deepen it by doubling student visas and further inflating tuition costs.Americans have every reason to feel anger and disappointment over where these China talks are heading. We can still hope the worst concessions get stripped out before any deal is final. But no one should be shocked. Trump has never hidden his priorities. Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has been an instrumental figure in dismantling the climate science regime during the second Trump administration, including major funding cuts in partnership with the Department of Government Efficiency. Now, nearly half of the states' attorneys general have called on Zeldin to strike at the head of another climate institution: the Environmental Law Institute.Headed by Attorney General Austin Knudsen of Montana and signed by 22 other state AGs, the letter calls on Zeldin to cut funding grants for the Environmental Law Institute, which operates the Climate Judiciary Project. 'The Environmental Law Institute's Climate Judiciary Project is using woke climate propaganda, under the guise of what they call "neutral" education, to persuade judges and push their wildly unpopular agenda through the court system.'The letter says that ELI "received approximately 13% of its revenue in 2023 and 8.4% in 2024" from federal grants and appears to expect this funding to continue, according to its financial records. The Climate Judiciary Project claims it "is a first-of-its-kind effort that provides judges with authoritative, objective, and trusted education on climate science, the impacts of climate change, and the ways climate science is arising in the law. Since its creation in 2018, the Climate Judiciary Project estimates that it has hosted more than 50 events and trained more than 2,000 judges."The revelations about ELI make clear that it is not shy about political lobbying. Jason Isaac, the CEO of the American Energy Institute, said in a statement obtained by Blaze News: "Its curriculum is developed by climate alarmist allies of the plaintiffs and delivered to judges behind closed doors. Public funds should never be used to finance political advocacy disguised as judicial education."Many supporters of this move have cited legal and ethical concerns as well as issues with consumer protection. "As we have long warned, the left has a plan to reshape American society by using lawsuits in courts all across the country, especially in places like Hawaii and other coastal enclaves. The new wave of revelations about ELI is further concerning evidence of how committed the left is to imposing mandatory Progressive Lifestyle Choices through this courtroom maneuvering and how big a threat it really is to all our ways of life," O.H. Skinner, the executive director of Alliance for Consumers, said. The letter was signed by the attorneys general of Montana, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming. The signatories are calling on Zeldin to have the EPA "cancel any on-going grants to ELI and ensure that ELI does not receive any future grants while it is sponsoring the Climate Judiciary Project."
