Lemon Thinks WHCD Roasting Him Is The Same As Calling Trump Admin 'Murderers'

The Wednesday edition of The Jim Acosta podcast saw the reunion of two of CNN’s most insufferable former hosts as Don Lemon joined the eponymous host to preview Saturday’s White House Correspondents Dinner. During their discussion, Lemon attacked “the freedom of speech” crowd for cancelling comedian Amber Ruffin and cited his own experience at being grilled by the dinner's comedian as proof they were being too soft, although such a diatribe required several omissions and half-truths about previous jokes about him and what Ruffin has said about the administration. As part of their back-and-forth conversation, Lemon asked, “Are you, are you gonna be at the correspondents’ dinner? I am.”     Acosta answered, “I am not, no, I am fortunately going to be out of town. I’ve got another engagement, a previously scheduled engagement, so I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.” That wasn’t good enough for Acosta, because he then suggested that nobody should go, “which, by the way, they should not have a White House Correspondents’ Dinner if you’re inviting Trump administration officials who work for a president who would shut down the press in a heartbeat if he were allowed to do it. You just, I just don’t think it’s right, you know. As much as I love the dinner and love the people there, it’s not right.” In that case it appears Acosta and Trump supporters finally found something they can agree on. As it was, Lemon turned to Ruffin, “It’s not right.  And again for the freedom of speech crowd to cancel a comedian because you don’t—that’s what comedians do: they roast the administration.” First of all, it was the WHCA itself that cancelled Ruffin after she refused to nominally commit to roasting all sides, not just Trump and Republicans. Still, Lemon moved on to suggest that if he can take a ribbing, then the White House can too, “I don’t know if you have, I’ve been roasted at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner by the comedian, and, I mean, I even flipped Larry Wilmore off.” A comparison between Wilmore and Ruffin is needed. The 2016 Wilmore joke Lemon referenced was, “Some of America’s finest black journalists are here tonight. Don Lemon is here too.” After Lemon waved back, Wilmore added, “Hey, Don! How’s it going, alleged journalist Don Lemon.” Lemon told Wilmore he was number one. Lemon also conveniently omitted that he was grilled at later dinners for sexist comments he made about Nikki Haley and at what age a woman is in “her prime,” although Roy Wood Jr. still found a way to make it about Fox News. Ruffin, by contrast, labeled the Trump Administration “kind of a bunch of murderers” who are not fit to be called human beings. That’s not roasting the administration; that is just old-fashioned political mudslinging with the possibility of therapeutic laughs for a sympathetic audience. Ruffin also has a history of making stuff up on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she is a writer. Acosta and Lemon sure did pick a convenient time to stop obsessing over their concerns about about fake news. Here is a transcript for the April 23 show: The Jim Acosta Show 4/23/2025 1 Hour, 17 Minutes, 16 Seconds DON LEMON: Are you, are you gonna be at the correspondents’ dinner? I am. JIM ACOSTA: I am not, no, I am fortunately going to be out of town. I’ve got another engagement, a previously scheduled engagement, so I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which, by the way, they should not have a White House Correspondents’ Dinner if you’re inviting Trump administration officials who work for a president who would shut down the press in a heartbeat if he were allowed to do it. You just, I just don’t think it’s right, you know. As much as I love the dinner— LEMON: It’s not right. ACOSTA: -- and love the people there, it’s not right. LEMON:  It’s not right.  And again for the freedom of speech crowd to cancel a comedian because you don’t—that’s what comedians do: they roast the administration. ACOSTA: Exactly. LEMON: I don’t know if you have, I’ve been roasted at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner— ACOSTA: Totally. LEMON: -- by the comedian— ACOSTA: Me too. LEMON: And, I mean, I even flipped Larry Wilmore off— ACOSTA: You got in so much trouble, Jeff was so pissed at you when you did that. LEMON: No, he wasn’t mad, I don’t know, he said, I think he thought it was okay.

EU's Sword Over Musk's X: Politico Warns of Impending Censorship

A major legacy media outlet discussed the massive issues at stake as the sword of Damocles hangs over Elon Musk’s X in Europe. The writer couldn’t hide her bias against free speech advocates.  Politico noted the European Union’s apparent failure to crush Elon Musk’s X alongside other Big Tech platforms in an April 23 article headlined “The EU has fined Meta and Apple. What happened to X?” In her article, Politico tech reporter Eliza Gkritsi suggested that the EU’s European Commission might prefer forcing X to make changes instead of paying horrifying fines, since the former decision “could have a meaningful impact on users.” However, Gkritsi labelled opponents of the European Commission’s authoritarian push as “far right” while offering more neutral terms to proponents of radical EU laws.  [Story Continues on MRC Free Speech America]

Video: Ski-masked thug flattens woman with flying kick from behind; punches and stomps her as she screams in parking lot

An attacker covered from head to toe in dark clothing, shoes, and a ski mask brutally attacked a screaming woman in suburban Philadelphia early Thursday morning, as surveillance video shows the suspect flattening the victim with a flying kick from behind in a parking lot outside her apartment and then stomping and punching her before running off.Hatfield Township police said the attack — which took place as the woman was leaving her apartment around 4:30 a.m. — appears targeted, but they're investigating all possibilities, WPVI-TV reported.'I couldn't believe someone would actually do that, and it's coming from behind ... a shallow man.'One resident in the Hatfield Village Apartments told the station his neighbor's screams woke him up."I opened my blinds, and I saw my neighbor getting up," Christopher Stevens told WPVI. "It looked like she had just been attacked."Stevens called 911 and showed officers his Ring video, the station added."It looked like he waited for her for about 10 minutes, and then when she came out to go to work, he jumped on her," Stevens noted to WPVI, adding that "it was pretty traumatizing to see that happen to somebody. I really hope she's okay."You can view a video report here; it includes the surveillance clip of the attack.Scully Company, which manages the property, issued a statement, WPVI said: "Our thoughts and concern are with our resident, and we are hopeful for a quick recovery. Out of respect for their privacy and due to the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide further details at this time."An unnamed neighbor told the station she's "disgusted" over the attack and that "I couldn't believe someone would actually do that, and it's coming from behind ... a shallow man."Kevin Finn, who has lived in the apartment complex for the last six years, told the station that the powers that be should install "camera systems, and a security patrol would probably be good."Police are warning residents to remain vigilant but said there's no reason to feel at risk due to this incident, WPVI reported. Those with information about the attack should call 215-855-0903, the station noted.Like Blaze News? Mark Levin sounds alarm: Stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions before it’s too late

If a nuclear missile were fired at the United States right now, would we have the power to stop it? Mark Levin says the answer is a chilling no. “We do have the technology to knock [missiles] out of the sky, but are we literally set in place to knock them out of the sky? The answer is no,” he says. Given Iran’s relentless pursuit of nuclear weapons, America’s alarming lack of a robust defense system like Israel’s Iron Dome, and rising tensions in the Middle East, Levin argues that the United States ought to have a much stronger opinion about preventing Iran from building nuclear muscle. He explains how currently Iran lacks a strong air force, navy, and robust ground-to-air missile systems. The country's resources are stretched thanks to funding groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. The weak state of Iran's government, which lacks popular support and relies on a “very powerful police state” to stay in power, makes Iran even more unstable but also more dangerous, as it pushes for nuclear weapons to gain power and prestige. Iran’s Persian people are often educated and pro-America, yet their regime’s iron fist drives this reckless nuclear ambition. “Can you imagine if these Islamo-Nazis have nuclear weapons, and once they get one, they'll have 101; they'll have 1,001. There's no stopping them at that point. Then you cannot pre-emptively attack them,” Levin warns. Despite recent claims that he and Israel are warmongers, Levin insists that war is what everyone hopes to avoid. He argues that Israel, being in the region, would use its own troops in any conflict, not drag U.S. soldiers into war. “I’ve got grandkids and kids. You think I want to drag anybody into a war?” he asks. Levin doubts Iran’s leaders, after years of investment, would abandon their nuclear program through negotiations, making the need to act now even more urgent. After demo success, space roguelike Starless Abyss is out now and even better

How do you take down beings so unknowable and powerful that their mere presence drives you to despair? That’s the task presented to you by Starless Abyss. This new space roguelike brings together Slay the Spire’s deckbuilding, FTL’s space adventure, Into the Breach’s positional combat, and Darkest Dungeon’s Lovecraftian horror, and was built by Egyptian developer Konafa Games with consultation from Nuclear Throne and Luftrausers co-creator, Rami Ismail. Following near-universal praise for its demo, the full game is bigger, better, and out now on Steam. An AMD Radeon RX 9080 gaming GPU is reportedly coming, but with a big catch

We thought that AMD’s new RDNA 4 gaming GPU range was going to top out at “9070” when it comes to model numbers, but a new leak claims that there’s a new AMD Radeon RX 9080 chip coming. There’s a catch, though, which is that the rumored chip’s full name is the Radeon RX 9080M, and it’s reportedly a laptop GPU. What’s more, the core spec looks identical to that of the desktop Radeon RX 9070 XT. That’s a good start, though, as I was really impressed by the performance of the new AMD RDNA 4 architecture in my Radeon RX 9070 XT review, and awarded it a place on our guide to the best graphics card. It looks as though AMD has different plans for the model names of its new laptop gaming GPUs, though, with the new Radeon RX 9080M apparently matching the number of compute units and VRAM capacity of the 9070 XT. Resident Evil 9 gets biggest tease yet as Capcom hides secret in new RE4 video

Resident Evil 9 will surely mark some kind of reimagining of Capcom’s stalwart survival horror series. RE7 was a worthy experiment - I personally didn’t like it, at all, but at least it was trying something. Village on the other hand was a mess, and proof proper that Resident Evil needs stripping down again. We have to go back to basics: city, zombies, T-Virus. The rumored Code Veronica remake could be good, but RE needs fresh stories. Based on a new video from Capcom to mark the sales of RE4 Remake, it seems that Resident Evil 9 - in whatever form it may take - could finally be real.
