President Trump just went off on China in a new TruthSocial post, catching most of the world off-guard. While most assumed negotiations with China were moving along reasonably well, President Trump just told us that is far from the case. In fact, it sounds like things have imploded and all talks are off and a new round of painful tariffs are coming — among other things. Here was his post: And because that might be hard to read, here is the full text:   Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump Some very strange things are happening in China! They are becoming very hostile, and sending letters to Countries throughout the World, that they want to impose Export Controls on each and every element of production having to do with Rare Earths, and virtually anything else they can think of, even if it’s not manufactured in China. Nobody has ever seen anything like this but, essentially, it would “clog” the Markets, and make life difficult for virtually every Country in the World, especially for China. We have been contacted by other Countries who are extremely angry at this great Trade hostility, which came out of nowhere. Our relationship with China over the past six months has been a very good one, thereby making this move on Trade an even more surprising one. I have always felt that they’ve been lying in wait, and now, as usual, I have been proven right! There is no way that China should be allowed to hold the World “captive,” but that seems to have been their plan for quite some time, starting with the “Magnets” and, other Elements that they have quietly amassed into somewhat of a Monopoly position, a rather sinister and hostile move, to say the least. But the U.S. has Monopoly positions also, much stronger and more far reaching than China’s. I have just not chosen to use them, there was never a reason for me to do so — UNTIL NOW! The letter they sent is many pages long, and details, with great specificity, each and every Element that they want to withhold from other Nations. Things that were routine are no longer routine at all. I have not spoken to President Xi because there was no reason to do so. This was a real surprise, not only to me, but to all the Leaders of the Free World. I was to meet President Xi in two weeks, at APEC, in South Korea, but now there seems to be no reason to do so. The Chinese letters were especially inappropriate in that this was the Day that, after three thousand years of bedlam and fighting, there is PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. I wonder if that timing was coincidental? Dependent on what China says about the hostile “order” that they have just put out, I will be forced, as President of the United States of America, to financially counter their move. For every Element that they have been able to monopolize, we have two. I never thought it would come to this but perhaps, as with all things, the time has come. Ultimately, though potentially painful, it will be a very good thing, in the end, for the U.S.A. One of the Policies that we are calculating at this moment is a massive increase of Tariffs on Chinese products coming into the United States of America. China has become “very hostile” on trade matters, Trump said in a bombshell Truth Social post. “I was to meet President Xi in two weeks, at APEC, in South Korea, but now there seems to be no reason to do so.” The leaders were expected to announce a full-fledged trade deal at the meeting. On Thursday, China announced a series of new limits on the trade of rare earths and technologies related to them. A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump’s post. The announcements from China and Trump were a sudden escalation of a trade war that had appeared to be cooling off. The perceived certainty of a forthcoming China deal had been pushing stocks higher. But the president’s Truth Social post Friday immediately sent U.S. stocks to session lows, with the S&P 500 falling more than 1% after trading earlier in positive territory. The Nasdaq, which contains many tech companies that do business in China, slid about 2%. China’s new trade regulations require foreign companies to get special approval to export items that contain even small traces of rare earths elements sourced from China. These critical minerals are needed in a broad range of products, from jet engines, radar systems and electric vehicles to consumer electronics including laptops and phones. China and the U.S. have held more than three rounds of trade talks this year, with rare earths, TikTok and tariffs featuring in the discussions. After talks in May in Geneva, the administration said China had decided to ease up on rare earth export controls. In June, the two sides met again in London, where they announced yet another agreement on the issue. After those talks, the U.S. said it expected the issue to be “resolved.”

A child’s soul knows no borders, no flags. We must foster a future for our children which is rich with potential, security, and complete with free will — a world where dreams will be realized rather than faded by war. Much has unfolded since President Putin received my letter last August. He responded in writing, signaling a willingness to engage with me directly and outlining details regarding the Ukrainian children residing in Russia. And since then, President Putin and I have had an open channel of communication regarding the welfare of these children. For the past three months, both sides have participated in several back-channel meetings and calls, all in good faith. We have agreed to cooperate with each other for the benefit of all people involved in this war. My representative has been working directly with President Putin’s team to ensure the safe reunification of children with their families between Russia and Ukraine. In fact, eight children have been rejoined with their families during the past 24 hours. Each child has lived in turmoil because of the war in Ukraine. Three were separated from their parents and displaced to the Russian Federation because of frontline fighting. The other five were separated from family members across borders because of the conflict, including one young girl who has now been reunited from Ukraine to Russia. I have learned a lot about this matter during the past three months. Russia has demonstrated a willingness to disclose objective and detailed information reflective of the current situation. It is important to note the original verification report was jointly prepared by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights and the Office of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights. As First Lady, this is an important initiative for me. It is built on shared purpose and lasting impact. My ongoing mission is twofold: to optimize a transparent, free-flow exchange of health-related information surrounding all children who have fallen victim to this war, and to facilitate the regular reunification of children with their families until each individual returns home. Additionally, I have raised concerns regarding those who were minors at the time they were displaced by the war but have since reached adulthood and currently reside in Russia. Given the dangers of traversing this war-torn region, their safe return requires coordinated assistance. Accordingly, Russia has agreed to rejoin the individuals who have turned 18 within a short period of time. Again, this remains an ongoing effort. Plans are already underway to reunify more children in the immediate future. I hope peace will come soon. It can begin with our children. Thank you.
