An update on KT Smith and Luke Scornavacco’s relationship. Morgan Wallen’s ex, KT Smith, caused quite the commotion earlier this year after appearing on the Dumb Blonde podcast hosted by Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie Xo. KT Smith and Morgan Wallen share a 5-year-old son, Indigo, and the two were previously engaged in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2016 to 2019. Once the two called it quits for good, KT got into a relationship with Luke, and the two dated for two years before tying the knot. However, after nine months of marriage, KT and Luke publicly announced they were getting divorced. Smith opened up on the Dumb Blonde podcast about what led her to want a divorce: “I love Luke. I’ll always love Luke. Throughout our relationship, I just had issues with certain things, and like, we both did social media, and that’s basically I feel like impossible for two people to both do that career and for it to be lasting. For me, like I had said earlier, I want to be in a soft girl era and not feel like I have to take care of so much. But I was taking care of the bills, all of the bills except for half the rent, and that’s just also who I am as a person. Like, I offered to do it, but then it gets to a point where it’s like, I don’t wanna have to hold everything together. Take care of the chickens and do manly things like that, lawn work and all that stuff. The social media thing was kind of an ick for me, and that was my fault for getting into it knowing that he did that.” Smith admitted that she knew social media gave her the ick before the choice to get married, and when Bunnie pressed more on the topic, KT admitted that it being an ick comes from past relationship trauma… cough cough Morgan Wallen. “Okay, the ick does come from a past trauma and I didn’t want Luke to feel like, get all of his validation from all these strangers and women on the internet and then it turn into what it did in my prior relationship. While I understand that part of being an influencer is sharing details of your life, if you’re trying to figure out whether to stay in a marriage or leave one, airing out all your intimate relationship details for the public to hear might not be the best idea. Fans even trolled KT for appearing in a Sonic ad at Stagecoach, which contradicted her claim that social media was ick and that she did not want to act for the camera… got to get that check, eh? He shut down Broadway. Last night, Post Malone hosted the official grand opening of his bar Posty’s, which actually opened earlier this summer, and he played a free, hour-long concert in front of his Broadway establishment to celebrate. He brought out surprise guests like Lainey Wilson, Dierks Bentley and Brooks & Dunn, and as you can probably imagine, a HUGE crowd showed up to see him play and it looked like quite a time. Post ran through covers like Hank Williams Jr.’s “Outlaw Women,” Billy Currington’s “Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer,” Toby Keith’s “How Do You Like Me Now!?” and more, and thousands and thousands of people descended on Nashville’s most famous street to see the live music from one of the world’s biggest stars. Post also offered free food and drinks to everyone who could manage to get into Posty’s, which is super cool and not all that surprising considering everyone always talks about how kind he is. Considering how many people were there, I’m not sure how many really got to take advantage of that, but for those who did, I’m sure they’re having a fun morning. Worth it, though… Posty’s is a 26,000 square foot venue, featuring six bars, three stages, a full-service dining room and a rooftop and the largest ground floor on Broadway. The truth comes out. The Yellowstone effect impacted many artists’ careers in the country realm, as creator Taylor Sheridan featured many up-and-coming country stars and highlighted some of his personal favorites on the show. While the show brought stars like Zach Bryan, Ryan Bingham, Uncle Lucius, Whitey Morgan and the 78’s, and more to our big screens, no one was hit harder with the Yellowstone effect than the East Texas Southern rockers, Whiskey Myers. The whole band made an appearance on Yellowstone to play the song in a bar while Rip and Beth dance in Season one, during episode four (one of the best scenes on the whole series, if we’re being honest). Right after that episode (called The Long Black Train if you want to go back and rewatch it now) aired in 2018, Whiskey Myers’ Mud record went #1 on the iTunes country chart and Top 20 on the all-genre chart, garnering them a swath of new fans from all over the country. Throughout the series, Whiskey Myers had several songs featured, including “Deep Down In The South,” “Headstone,” “Mud,” “Frogman,” and others. Frontman Cody Cannon told Whiskey Riff that they never could’ve imagined the impact it would have on their career from that point on: “It was pretty overwhelming, pretty life-changing. We never had the opportunity to have a platform to reach millions and millions of people at one time, you know? I mean, you have social media and stuff, but it’s just different to be on everybody’s TV at once. So we just never had that format, ever. And then to get the reaction that we had, it’s just humbling, and you’re honored to kinda get that.” However, blowing up was exactly the plan for the band… if they were being honest, they had an ulterior motive. Cody says they just thought they’d at least get to meet Kevin Costner… and that was reason enough to agree to do it when Taylor Sheridan gave him a call: “We didn’t go into to it, though, thinking anything, man, honestly. We just thought we were gonna get to meet Kevin Costner.” They decided to go for it after talking to creator Taylor Sheridan, and the rest, as they say, is history. Except for the fact they didn’t actually get to meet Kevin because he wasn’t on set the day they filmed their scene: “You know, Taylor Sheridan, I talked to him on the phone, and he kinda told me what the show was about and who was on it and stuff, and I was like, this sounds pretty cool. And then, you know, we were talking about it and we were like, let’s go do it, maybe we’ll get to meet Kevin… hey, he wasn’t even there, but it worked out really good.” Of course, timing is everything, and it all lined up perfectly when they agreed to do the episode: “It was a good career move, but we were just happy to be apart of it. It’s amazing that everybody kinda gravitated to it, it was just I guess the right moment, right show, right song, right band.” That about sums it up perfectly… Sadly, the men of Whiskey Myers never got to meet Kevin Costner, and he wasn’t even on set the day they shot their scene for Season 1, Episode 4.
