He’s back. Today, Kip Moore released a rockin’ new single called “Levee,” which he wrote with Luke Preston and Hank Born. It comes on the heels of his 2025 album Solitary Tracks, which served as his sixth studio album and first under Virgin Music Group. “Levee” is certainly a statement, co-produced by Moore alongside Andrew DeRoberts and featuring guest vocals by Hillary Lindsey, and Kip explained that it is “an expression of frustration with the loudness of the world.” He’s tired of the self-righteousness and lack of grace, when in reality, we’re all incredible imperfect humans… you know, the whole “throwing stones” thing: “‘Levee’ is an expression of frustration with the loudness of the world. Everybody being self-righteous, the constant bickering. We’re simply in a graceless age. People are obsessed with their own voice and being the beacon of truth. We’re all flawed humans from a million different backgrounds. I can feel the ground hemorrhaging. That opening verse came out of me in seconds as a scream.” And that first verse does open up with Kip singing about a “rumble” in the sky, feeling the rage of the world so palpably that he can “taste the venom in the air”: “I can hear the rumble comin’ from the sky I can see the train comin’ straight down the line I can taste the venom in the air tonight I can feel my bones fillin’ up with fire Ain’t no fingers crossed on my helpin’ hand Ain’t no kind of saint, but I do what I can Ain’t the kind to go and draw a line in the sand But your spit in my eye made me a dangerous man” He also noted that he’s not a “victim” or “on the bankroll of any politician,” furthering the idea that he’s tired of the divisive and modern world we live in: “I ain’t no killer, I ain’t no victim Ain’t on the bankroll of any politician, no Ain’t no canary singing from a coal mine But I got both fists clenched if you’re lookin’ for a fight” I can’t imagine how anyone couldn’t appreciate or even relate to this song considering the state of the world and especially when it comes to the internet and life in 2026, which makes this whole concept a very welcome idea. The production is gritty and raucous, just what fans love from Kip’s unique sound, and it’s a winner all-around in my humble opinion. In addition to releasing “Levee,” Kip announced a ton of new tour dates as part of his Reason To Believe world tour, which will head overseas to countries like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe, the UK and of course, the US. Kip will also open some shows for Cody Johnson this year, in addition to touring Billy Currington on a co-headlining run. that went on sale last month, as well as a select number of shows, where he will be supporting Cody Johnson in arenas across the country. The music video for “Levee,” also released today, was directed by PJ Brown and finds Moore traversing a barren, southwestern landscape. I love when he leans into his rebellious, defiant side like this, and hopefully, this is just the beginning of more new music coming this year.
