Forgotten Horror Film Something Wicked This Way Comes Is Finally Streaming on Disney+

News something wicked this way comes Forgotten Horror Film Something Wicked This Way Comes Is Finally Streaming on Disney+ After being unavailable for years, the 1983 horror film is now available for your streaming pleasure. By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on October 6, 2025 Credit: Disney Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: Disney It’s been over 40 years since Something Wicked This Way Comes premiered and had a disastrous box office performance (though the critical response was more favorable). The movie, which is an adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s 1962 novel and also boasts a script from the author, starred Jason Robards, Jonathan Pryce, Diane Ladd, and Pam Grier. In it, a fantastical, malevolent carnival run by Pryce’s Mr. Dark comes to town, and two schoolboys work to save their town from his evil machinations. Bradbury’s original work clearly influenced the work of many horror writers, including Stephen King, and perhaps other creators as well. The movie version, however, has been hard to find of late, though Disney did put out a Blu-ray of it in 2021. Since October 3, however, anyone with a Disney+ subscription has been able to stream it for themselves at their leisure. It’s availability on the platform is something of a surprise: Many considered the film “lost” to the public if you weren’t one of the people who bought a Blu-ray four years ago when it was briefly available. It’s also interesting that Disney apparently just put the movie up on their streaming platform without fanfare, leaving it to subscribers to stumble across when looking for something spooky to watch this October.   Head over to Disney+ if you’re a subscriber yourself, and give it watch. Disgraced Illinois Ex-Congressman Eyes Comeback Bid

Jesse Jackson Jr. will reportedly announce a run to reclaim his old congressional seat in Illinois after vacating it more than a decade ago following his conviction on fraud charges. “We must fight them at every level to restore decency, fairness, and equity back into the federal government,” reads a line from the Jesse Jackson Jr. for Congress webpage.  Jackson, 60, the son of prominent political activist and minister Jesse Jackson, was sentenced to 30 months in prison “for conspiring to defraud his reelection campaigns of about $750,000 in funds that were used to pay for personal items and expenses, including high-end appliances and electronics, and then filing misleading reports to conceal seven years of the illegal activities,” according to the Justice Department in August 2013. Jackson’s wife at the time was also sentenced to a year in prison for filing false tax returns.  Jackson has also struggled with mental health issues in the past, having undergone treatment for bipolar II depression in 2012.  The Jesse Jackson Jr. for Congress website contends that the former House member was known as one of the most effective members in Congress and that he brought in almost $1 billion in grants and appropriations to his district. Jackson’s bid would put him in the running against several seasoned political candidates, including two state senators (one of them, Robert Peters, has been endorsed by both David Hogg’s PAC and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.), a Cook County commissioner, and a Water Reclamation Board Commissioner, among others.  “Disgraced Democrat Jesse Jackson Jr., who spent campaign funds on Rolex watches and Michael Jackson memorabilia, is set to face a David Hogg-endorsed radical liberal in a messy Democrat primary,” said National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Zach Bannon, adding: If that sounds like a joke, it’s because the modern Democrat Party has become one, and it’s exactly why House Republicans will not only retain, but expand, our majority. Jackson’s potential political comeback bid comes on the heels of prominent Illinois politicians announcing they will not seek reelection to their current offices. His onetime House seat—Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District—is being vacated by Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., who has announced she will seek the seat of retiring Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.  Jackson’s brother, Jonathan Jackson, D-Ill., currently represents Illinois 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Illinois has had its share of politicians embroiled in scandal. Several governors have faced criminal convictions, including most recently, former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who served nearly eight years in federal prison on public corruption charges. His sentence was commuted in 2020 by President Donald Trump, who early this year issued him a full presidential pardon. Until his resignation in November 2012, Jackson had represented Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District, which covers parts of Chicago, since 1995. President Joe Biden declined to pardon the former Illinois congressman after granting a reprieve to his own son, Hunter Biden, as well as his siblings and their spouses. Jackson reacted to Biden’s decision, writing, “Of course, I am disappointed. Democrats had an opportunity to end felonization for thousands, if not millions, of American citizens who have completed the time they were sentenced to serve. The fight for the American felon, of which I am one, must continue,” Jackson said in his statement. Jackson holds a law degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a seminary degree like his father from Chicago Theological Seminary, although he deferred being ordained. Regarding that decision, Jackson told Chicago magazine for its May 2005 issue, “I did not want to put myself out there as a reverend, knowing that I had my own personal shortcomings to deal with.” Editor’s note: This article has been updated since publication to include comments from the National Republican Congressional Committee. Chris Hayes, Alex Wagner Fret Unbiased CBS Will Become STATE TV Under Bari Weiss

On Friday's All In show, MSNBC's Chris Hayes and Alex Wagner freaked out over news that independent journalist Bari Weiss will be named as editor in chief of CBS News and worried that it would become like state TV under her leadership. Wagner, invoking her time working for CBS News, denied CBS's history of personal bias affecting their reporting, claiming that the outfit separates opinion and journalism like church and state. Hayes set up the segment: We know what it looks like when a country's leader takes over the free and independent press. It's something we've covered here repeatedly -- authoritarian governments either seizing control of news outlets or managing to kind of take them over through ostensibly legal means while consolidating power. And we know what to look for. This week, we've learned about a change in leadership at one of our country's biggest news outlets -- one of its most storied and famous -- that's raising a lot of eyebrows. Hayes recalled that Weiss would be appointed to the position, and then added: Now, I've got to say, Bari Weiss is not the first or second or even 50th person you would consider for a role like editor of CBS News. This is someone who has never even worked in news. She's worked almost exclusively in what you might consider opinion journalism. And don't get me wrong, that's fine -- there's nothing wrong with it. I'm an opinion journalist -- I've made my whole career in it. I like opinion journalism. But you wouldn't hire me to run a news division. After linking the choice to the FCC allowing Paramount and Skydance to merge, the MSNBC host intoned: And announcing Bari Weiss as the new editor in chief of CBS suggests one possibility we face here is that the news division's direction could start to resemble what we have seen concretely in other places -- countries like Hungary or Turkey where you have these tentpole legacy media properties that are purchased by regime allies who then turn them into regime media. He then brought aboard Wagner -- who went from MSNBC to CBS and eventually back to MSNBC -- and brought up an interview Wagner did in Hungary about the state exerting influence over the media. Wagner -- who was so biased in her first stint at MSNBC that she once, while interviewing Chelsea Clinton, bizarrely asked her to adopt her and put her in a bag -- claimed that CBS was never biased when she was there and called the recent changes a "partisan takeover." After being asked by Hayes if Weiss's selection was "weird," Wagner responded: ...it's not weird -- it makes total sense when you're thinking about it in the context of a total takeover -- a partisan takeover of a legacy institution like CBS News. As someone who worked there coming from MSNBC, I can tell you there is no experience that I can recall that was as much of a sort of -- there is such a church and state between opinion and news at a place like CBS, and it prides itself on being a place where, you know, the filter is strong and tight against opinion and personal views. It's like she never watched Steve Kroft lob softballs at Barack Obama, all their "Syrupy Minutes." After complaining about several recent moves by CBS, and complaining that Weiss has "a very clear agenda," she concluded: "...it is a stunning chain of events, Chris, as someone who worked there and saw the degree to which they held their nonpartisanship and their sort of -- their news history, the home of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite -- like that is the CBS brand. It's shocking to see." Transcript follows: MSNBC's All In with Chris Hayes October 3, 2025 8:52 p.m. Eastern CHRIS HAYES: We know what it looks like when a country's leader takes over the free and independent press. The Washington Post now reports the newly merged media giant Paramount/Skydance -- which was allowed to merge from the FCC -- is expected to announce Monday it will pay $150 million in cash and stock for the online publication, The Free Press, and name its founder, Bari Weiss, to CBS News's top editorial job, according to a person familiar with the matter. Now, I've got to say, Bari Weiss is not the first or second or even 50th person you would consider for a role like editor of CBS News. The news of her new position comes after we learned that the entire Paramount/Skydance deal was closely overseen by FCC chair Brendan Carr. FCC had to approve the merger and with a very obvious set of concessions and agreements made to allow it. And so David Ellison -- who's son of Oracle co-founder and big Trump supporter Larry Ellison -- is going to run Skydance now that parent company CBS put Bari Weiss in front of the news there -- as Larry Ellison himself prepares to take a huge stake in TikTok which the government is overseeing a sale of. And announcing Bari Weiss as the new editor in chief of CBS suggests one possibility we face here is that the news division's direction could start to resemble what we have seen concretely in other places -- countries like Hungary or Turkey where you have these tentpole legacy media properties that are purchased by regime allies who then turn them into regime media. Alex Wagner is an MSNBC senior political analyst who worked at CBS and Paramount for nearly six years. Earlier this year, she covered protests in Hungary, and she talked to media professionals there about how the regime overtook broadcasters to replace news with propaganda, and she joins me now. Alex, you're the first person I talk to because of your reporting in Hungary. Before we get to that, I want to play a clip, like, did you have the same reaction I have? Which is -- and this is no shade at Bari Weiss at all in terms of what her particular talents or abilities might be -- but when I saw that, I just thought to myself, like, this is a very weird hire for a place that's just been taken over with these very specific set of concessions made to a, you know, Brendan Carr -- the same guy who tried to run Jimmy Kimmel off air -- this individual who doesn't really have news experience to run one of the most storied news organizations in the country. ALEX WAGNER: Yeah, I mean, it's not weird -- it makes total sense when you're thinking about it in the context of a total takeover -- a partisan takeover of a legacy institution like CBS News. As someone who worked there coming from MSNBC, I can tell you there is no experience that I can recall that was as much of a sort of -- there is such a church and state between opinion and news at a place like CBS, and it prides itself on being a place where, you know, the filter is strong and tight against opinion and personal views. And that's, I think, the reason people work at CBS. It doesn't have the biggest budgets, but it has the reputation, and this -- the events of the last year -- the capitulation of CBS -- the shameful decision on the part of Shari Redstone to take money over principle and uphold journalistic ethics by doing a deal with effectively the Trump organization -- the Trump organization -- the Trump White House and Brendan Carr to get a multimillion-dollar merger approved; the firing of Stephen Colbert; the hiring of an ombudsman who's a Trump lackey to mind the store, if you will, on behalf of Trump and his agenda; and now the appointment of someone who has a very clear agenda, no experience, and is clearly aligned with the values of the new CBS. I mean, it's just -- it is a stunning chain of events, Chris, as someone who worked there and saw the degree to which they held there nonpartisanship and their sort of -- their news history, the home of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite -- like that is the CBS brand. It's shocking to see.

The DARK past of Ilhan Omar's father and how he came to America

According to journalist Ashley Rindsberg, information about Ilhan Omar’s father and his alleged role in Somalia’s Marxist-Leninist Siad Barre regime was long dismissed by mainstream outlets as conspiracy theory. But as Rindsberg tells BlazeTV host Liz Wheeler, the evidence paints a different picture — one the press seemed determined to bury.“The Omars were brought or came to America under a refugee program. It gave them a special ability to enter the U.S. and to have their pathway to citizenship. And that was presuming that they were not serving in the military or the genocidal military of the country which they came from,” Rindsberg tells Wheeler. However, Rindsberg explains that this turned out to be the case.“This was something that was buried by the so-called fact-checking industry and the mainstream media. They called it ‘misinformation.’ They called it an anti-Muslim smear. But the reality is that Ilhan Omar’s father was a colonel in the Siad Barre regime, a Marxist-Leninist regime responsible for genocide of a neighboring tribe,” he says.“And he was a senior official in that very regime,” he adds.“And yet he denied association with that government and claimed he was trying to escape it?” Wheeler chimes in.“He cast himself as a so-called teacher trainer. This was the term that kept coming up,” Rindsberg says. While the media acted as though his so-called position as a “teacher trainer” was a noble and harmless pursuit, Wheeler notes that the term sounds like a major “red flag” when “that person comes from a Marxist regime.”“That phrase in and of itself is not convincing to me; that’s almost laughable,” she says. When Omar’s father passed away in 2020, Rindsberg explains that there were “a lot of obituaries in local Somali-language and English-language outlets in Minnesota claiming and celebrating the fact that he was a colonel in the regime.”“They were not ashamed of it. They thought this was something to be proud of,” he adds.Want more from Liz Wheeler? To enjoy more of Liz’s based commentary, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

DA drops charge against conservative journalist Nick Sortor after alleged Antifa attack in Portland

Conservative journalist Nick Sortor was arrested after a brush with Antifa in Portland on Thursday, but the charge was dropped by the district attorney on Monday.Sortor was documenting the rioting against an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility by apparent left-wing agitators when police arrested him. He says some leftist protesters attacked him and that he swung back in defense before police intervened.'Free speech does not include the freedom to commit crimes.'The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office said that police had probable cause to arrest Sortor, but "after a careful review of the investigation, including reports and video, we do not believe the crime of disorderly conduct can be proven against Mr. Sortor beyond a reasonable doubt."Police said two other people involved in the incident were charged with disorderly conduct."Free speech does not include the freedom to commit crimes. It does not matter if an individual is expressing ideology from the left, right, or center," wrote District Attorney Nathan Vasquez in a statement, according to KOIN-TV."What matters is whether or not there is evidence to prove a crime was committed," he added.Portland police also released a statement about the arrest, according to KATU-TV. "Our enforcement actions are guided solely by law and probable cause, not by politics or personal characteristics. We are committed to upholding the rule of law equally and fairly, regardless of political affiliation, gender, age, race, or economic status," the statement reads in part. "We will continue our efforts in the South Waterfront to investigate crimes, make arrests when warranted, and refer cases involving criminal behavior to the district attorney's office," it continues. RELATED: Karoline Leavitt suggests cutting funds to Portland after arrest of conservative journalist during anti-ICE riot On Friday, the White House threatened to strip Portland of federal funds over the incident."President Trump will end the radical left's reign of terror in Portland once and for all," press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at the media briefing. "The president has directed Secretary [of War Pete] Hegseth to provide all necessary troops to protect war-ravaged Portland and any ICE facilities under siege from attack by Antifa and other left-wing domestic terrorists."Like Blaze News?
