Domestic. The Sweden Democrats want those convicted of child pornography offences to be locked in an indefinite period – and only released if, for example, they agree to chemical castration. The party believes that the penalty security storage should become the main rule – regardless of how serious the crime is assessed.

The proposal was presented by Henrik Vinge (SD), chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the legal policy spokesperson.

According to him, even those who hold child pornography images should also be subject to the new sanction.

"It applies regardless of the seriousness of the crime," he told TT.

Security storage is a new sanction that is imposed in our spring and means imprisonment without a fixed end time in case of serious violent and sexual offences. The sentenced person should be locked up until the risk of recurrence is judged to be sufficiently low.

Party leader Jimmie Åkesson has previously advocated life imprisonment for paedophiles who commit child abuse, or that they let themselves castrate. Now the party wants to extend the line to include child pornography offences.

According to Vinge, the penalty should be able to be timed only when the sentenced person accepts treatment, such as chemical castration.

Today, the maximum sentence for aggravated child pornography offences is six years imprisonment. In anticipation of broader support for security storage, SD wants to introduce a new classification – particularly serious child pornography offences – that should be able to give life.

The party also proposes a lifelong ban on possessing electronic equipment as a computer and mobile phone for people convicted of the crime. Anyone who violates the ban should be able to be sentenced to prison.

Several other Tidö parties have recently opened up for chemical castration as a measure against sex offenders. Vinge believes that the possibilities to implement SD’s proposal during the next term of office are good.
