Colter Wall Fires Shots at Nashville’s Music Row In Latest Single “1800 Miles”

Colter Wall is BACK. And if it wasn’t already, he’s hear to make his opinions of Nashville’s Music Row abundantly clear. The Canadian cowboy best known for mega hits like “Sleeping on the Blacktop” and “The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie” has his playbook down to a science. Releasing killer albums every few years, surfacing for a podcast once in a blue moon, and playing just barely enough shows to keep his fans at bay, Wall does what he can to spend most of his time ranching and writing songs without the constant pestering of the media and unwelcome industry professionals. Notorious for his eschewal of the mainstream country music scene and his preference for staying outside of the spotlight, the Saskatchewan native has never shied away from voicing his opinion whenever he decides to speak up, and for those who follow him closely, it’s pretty clear where he stands on this particular matter. But until now, no single song in his catalog has summarized his attitude towards the Nashville music machine more so than his latest single “1800 Miles.” A punchy, steel-soaked country tune that lays it all out on the table, “1800 Miles” leaves from the first verse as to where Wall stands on the matter. “I don’t know what you think you’ve been told If I was for sale, I never sold It’s short on flashing lights and rhinestone clothes 1,800 miles from Music Row” Alluding to the notion that he has forged a strong career without the help of the record labels in Nashville, many of whom probably thought an artist like him could never be so successful a decade ago without their help, Wall makes it clear that he intends to keep doing things his own way, and that he doesn’t need to be flashy in the process. Give “1800 Miles” a listen for yourself here: Man, I love Colter Wall. And we’re in luck, because there is plenty more where this came from. In tandem with the single release, Wall announced that he has a brand new record set to hit streaming platforms on November 14. Titled Memories and Empties, Wall’s sixth studio album and the heavily anticipated follow up to 2023’s Little Songs features 10 tracks that are sure to carry on the pseudo-punk attitude and pure country and western music that he has built a massive career upon. Inspired by ’70s era Merle Haggard, you can expect a full buffet of honky tonk heaters, blue collar anthems and tear in your beer heartbreakers. Here is a look at the full tracklist: Memories and Empties Tracklist: “1800 Miles” “My Present Just Gets Past Me” “Like the Hills” “Memories and Empties” “It’s Getting So (That a Man Can’t Go Into Town Just to Have Him a Drink)” “Living By the Hour” “4/4 Time” “The Longer You Hold On” “Back to Me” “Summer Wages” While Colter Wall only tours seldomly in a typical year, he’s taken thing sup a notch in an effort to promote the new record. The vast majority of these dates are located in his home country of Canada as well as the American Southwest, but if he is coming to a city near you, this is a show you simply cannot miss.
