The Mind Is The Target

From the Covid event, many became more aware of the psychological assaults on humanity, outright dismissal of any information contrary to the intended narrative, and introduction of a new biological technology.  While these types of warfare have existed for a very long time, mind warfare has most notably escalated to new heights. Did Morgan Wallen Take A Swipe At Country Music Awards Shows With A Line In “I’m A Little Crazy”?

We might be reading too much into this… but maybe not? It’s no secret that Morgan Wallen and the major country music award shows in the CMA and ACM Awards don’t have the best relationship, and Morgan barely acknowledged his 2024 CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year, and skipped out on the recent ACM Awards altogether to play golf with Tom Brady instead… and I think he probably had way more fun than all of his friends that did go to the show. He wasn’t at last year’s CMA show in-person to receive the coveted EOTY, and didn’t record a video message or anything for the audience that was there like most artists do if they have to miss it. For a quick history in case you’re unfamiliar with their beef, for lack of a better word, he and the CMA in particular have a pretty complicated history… in 2021, the country music superstar was banned from the attending the show after he was caught on video earlier that year dropping a racial slur. And the past two years, fans have sounded off after believing Morgan was snubbed from the night’s top prize, losing to Luke Combs in 2022 and Lainey Wilson in 2023. Morgan has consistently been snubbed, even if he was nominated, at these shows. While he was one of the most nominated artists of the evening, including being up for EOTY once again, at the ACM’s earlier this month, Morgan did not win one single award, which is simply ridiculous considering he’s a megastar and a huge part of the reason country has become so wildly popular over the last couple years. Whether you like his music or not, for him to leave empty-handed, based on their own criteria, is pretty insane. But these awards don’t really mean anything, so I guess it really doesn’t matter… especially to him. And during an interview with Kelleigh Bannen for Apple Music’s Today Country, she asked him about “I’m A Little Crazy,” which was one of the pre-released songs written by Hardy, Smith Ahnquist, Hunter Phelps and Jameson Rodgers, that Morgan previously teased on Instagram. The song finds him reflecting on the state of the world and how he keeps a “loaded .44 by the bed” even though he hopes he never has to use it. Kelleigh noted how some of the lyrics are a little quirky, and how interesting the line in the chorus is, and how she would never think of comparing herself to a coyote, which goes like this: “Oh, once you get to know me I’m a coyote in a field of wolves” Morgan explained that it’s his favorite line in the song, because it represents how he’s has literally not been invited to things before, and probably has felt figuratively left out too, though he relates to the coyote because even if he’s alone, he’s still going to eat, so to speak: “That’s my favorite line. at times in my life, I haven’t felt like I was invited. and to me, that’s what that line says, is like, ‘Hey, I know I wasn’t invited, but I’m still eatin’ and I’m still fed,’ you know? And that’s really what that line says to me, and I think that’s why it’s my favorite.” I obviously think he’s probably referring to many different things in reference to that line and what inspired it, though I do think the way he’s been largely left out of the major country award shows, when in reality, he should be sweeping them (by their metrics) with where his career is at right now, probably was part of the inspiration behind it. Fans in the comments seemed very certain that he was taking a swipe at the aforementioned country institutions, and I do think that’s probably part of it, because it would only be natural to feel that way, I think… let’s be honest, whether they’ll admit to it or not, every artist deep down wants to win the award(s) they’re nominated for, if only to signal to their peers that they’re on top. You can watch the clip here: @thekelleighbannen Tomorrow on #TodaysCountry @morganwallen joins me to talk about his new album I’m The Problem, seeing himself in his son, the touching letter he received from his dad and more. Join us tomorrow morning on @Apple Music at 9am CT #countrymusic #newmusic #morganwallen ♬ I’m A Little Crazy – Morgan Wallen I wouldn’t be shocked if we don’t see him at any these shows going forward, and there’s gonna be no love lost between either party if that’s the case. If he ever performs at one again, and that’s a big IF, how funny would it be if he played this: “I’m A Little Crazy” The post Did Morgan Wallen Take A Swipe At Country Music Awards Shows With A Line In “I’m A Little Crazy”? first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Russia, Ukraine Agree to Prisoner Exchange

Russia and Ukraine’s direct talks Friday in Istanbul yielded an agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners with the other.  The negotiations lasted for an hour and forty minutes, and were mediated by the Turks. The negotiators of the two countries reportedly discussed a potential ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and a meeting between Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. Most of the talks were inconclusive. The Ukrainians favor a ceasefire before substantive peace negotiations, while the Russians favor a ceasefire as part of peace negotiations. Russia currently has momentum on the battlefield, and a ceasefire could be used by Ukraine to rearm before resuming hostilities. The two countries also remained intractable on territorial negotiations. Both claimed that their respective constitutions require them to control the whole of the four contested oblasts in the Donbas, in addition to Crimea, which Russia reabsorbed in 2014. The meeting represented the first time since 2022 that Russian and Ukrainian diplomats have engaged in direct negotiations. The two countries last engaged in direct negotiations in Istanbul in the days following the start of Russia’s “Special Military Operation,” in late February 2022. According to reports, by April of that year, the two countries had come to an agreement on a tentative deal to end the war. Then–Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom reportedly convinced Zelensky to break off all talks with Russia and continue the war.  The post Russia, Ukraine Agree to Prisoner Exchange appeared first on The American Conservative.

Conservatives block Trump agenda bill from advancing in major setback for GOP leaders

The GOP-led House Budget Committee voted to reject a sweeping package for President Donald Trump's agenda on Friday, dealing an embarrassing setback to Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Republican leaders. The vote in the Budget Committee was 16-21, with a band of conservative hard-liners who are pushing for steeper spending cuts joining all Democrats in voting against the multitrillion-dollar legislation, leaving its fate uncertain.

Military adds gender dysphoria screening to troops’ annual physical amid transgender ban

The Defense Department will start screening troops for gender dysphoria during their annual physicals as part of the agency-wide effort to kick transgender service members out of the U.S. military, according to a new memo published Thursday.  The document, signed by the Pentagon’s acting head of personnel and readiness, orders senior officials to “immediately commence the identification of affected Service members” via the Defense Department’s Periodic Health Assessment.

Trump’s drug price controls are the wrong prescription for a real problem

President Donald Trump is right that Americans pay too high a price for many pharmaceuticals. In a May 12 speech and signing of an executive order aimed at rectifying the problem, Trump correctly diagnosed the reasons for high prescription drug costs. However, Trump’s legally unenforceable executive order slapping effective price controls on medicines is the wrong prescription for this predicament. To understand what Trump got right, it’s important to note what he got...

Democrats Exaggerate Estimated Impact of GOP Bill on Uninsured

A preliminary Congressional Budget Office analysis said that a Republican legislative proposal that makes changes to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act would leave “at least 8.6 million” people without health insurance by 2034. But many Democrats have exaggerated the figure, claiming that 13.7 million would lose their insurance under the proposal. That higher number includes a CBO estimate for insurance losses under a separate matter — the scheduled expiration of expanded ACA tax credits....
