Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke to the massive crowd at a prayer vigil for assassinated conservative commentator Charlie Kirk on Sunday, telling them, among other things, that Kirk had been the reason that he and President Donald Trump had joined forces in the summer of 2024. Many noted that Kennedy himself already had far too much personal experience with political assassinations. Both his father, Robert F. Kennedy, and his uncle, former President John F. Kennedy, were shot while holding or seeking public office. Kennedy said his voice was especially important because of that experience. When asked about it, Kennedy said his teenage niece’s response was simple: “I want to live like Charlie Kirk.” The HHS Secretary went on to tell the crowd that Kirk, whom he’d met more than a decade earlier, had been the driving force behind his joining the Trump campaign. “I went on his podcast, and I think we approached each other with a lot of trepidation at that time, but, by the end of the podcast, we were soul mates, we were spiritual brothers, and we were friends,” Kennedy said of his first meeting with Kirk before adding, “And over the next couple of years, our friendship blossomed … He ended up being a primary architect of my unification with President Trump.” Kennedy and the crowd laughed together as he recalled that the sparklers at the TPUSA rally — where Kennedy endorsed Trump — had been Charlie’s idea as well. “I had a conversation once with Charlie,” Kennedy added. “We were talking about the danger that we were both challenging entrenched interests, and he asked if I was scared of dying. And I said, ‘There [are] a lot worse things than dying.’” He noted that Kirk had voiced a desire to “die fighting with our boots on,” Kennedy concluded, “Charlie gave his life so that the rest of us would not have to suffer those fates worse than death. Now it’s our job — he’s no longer there to lead us — to rush in and fill the breach and win the battle for our country, for God, and for our families.”

The FBI is looking into at least seven social media accounts and seeking to determine if anyone knew of a plot to assassinate Charlie Kirk before he was shot and killed last week, The Washington Free Beacon reported on Monday, citing three sources familiar with the investigation. The Free Beacon also published archived screenshots of some of the posts the FBI is investigating. One post mentions Kirk getting assassinated one week before the influential conservative commentator was gunned down. The X account @TallyHallAlbum wrote on September 3, “itd be funny if someone like charlie kirk got shot on september 10th LMAO.” Another X account, @NajraGalvz, posted a day before the assassination, “Charlie kirk is coming to my college tomorrow i rlly hope someone evaporates him literally.” In a follow-up post, the X user added, “Lets just say something big will happen tomorrow.” In the X bio for @NajraGalvz, the account says it identifies as “nonbinary.” Hours after Kirk was assassinated, @NajraGalvz posted, CHARLIE KIRK GOT SHOT BRO I PROMISE I DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.” One social media account that celebrated Kirk’s assassination uses an X handle that is nearly identical to a TikTok profile that follows the assassin’s trans-identifying roommate, Lance Twiggs, The Free Beacon reported. The X account churbum75m (SAW TYLER JUNE 30) posted after Kirk was pronounced dead, “WE F***ING DID IT.” Churbum75m is also on TikTok, following Twiggs, who has 839 followers. The Free Beacon reported that in a video posted on TikTok, another social media account said that “charles james kirk … does not know what’s coming tomorrow. be ready … this isn’t a threat it’s a promise.” The posts and some of the accounts that the FBI is looking into were all deleted within days of Kirk’s assassination. The Feds are also investigating whether any pro-transgender groups online knew about plans to kill Kirk in advance, The New York Post reported. The FBI probe is reportedly looking into groups on the online gaming platform, Steam, along with leftist groups in Utah. FBI Director Kash Patel said on Monday that DNA found on the towel that was wrapped around the suspected assassin’s rifle matches the DNA of Tyler Robinson, who was arrested on Friday. DNA found on a screwdriver on the roof of a campus building also matches Robinson’s DNA, according to Patel. The suspected assassin’s roommate, who appears to be in a romantic relationship with Robinson, is fully cooperating with the FBI as investigators continue to probe the assassination, Fox News reported over the weekend. According to authorities, Robinson expressed his dislike of Kirk at a family dinner and also mentioned that Kirk was scheduled to speak at Utah Valley University before the conservative was assassinated. Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox told The Wall Street Journal that it’s become “very clear” to investigators that Robinson was “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.”

The days following the assassination of Charlie Kirk have been filled with tributes, both public and private, including from major corporations and celebrities.  Ahead of Sunday’s NFL games, a league spokesperson said it would be left to individual teams to decide whether to acknowledge Charlie Kirk’s tragic death. Some clubs chose to do so, while others did not. The Tennessee Titans displayed a photo of Kirk and his family on the Jumbotron while observing a moment of silence before the game. The Miami Dolphins also held a moment of silence for Kirk, the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and “any other victims of violence.” They also offered a “prayer for unity in our country.” The New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys honored Kirk’s memory, while the New Orleans Saints held a moment of silence. ? It said, “Our nation has witnessed several acts of senseless violence in recent weeks, including the deaths of schoolchildren in Colorado, churchgoers in Minnesota, and Charlie Kirk in Utah.” “At this time, we ask you to join us in a moment of silence as we remember those we have lost.” The Pittsburgh Steelers did not hold an audible tribute but marked the occasion with a pregame flyover and flags at half-staff. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, and Minnesota Vikings chose not to hold any tributes for Kirk. The Colts explained that the team instead held a moment of silence for Forrest Lucas, founder of Lucas Oil, the namesake of their stadium. They noted this tribute had been scheduled since his death last month.  Prior to the weekend, the Green Bay Packers held a moment of silence before their Thursday night game against the Washington Commanders on September 11, one day after Kirk’s assassination. “He was a national figure,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement to USA Today Sports. “The murder took place about 24 hours before the game.” “There have been a variety of moments of silence and tributes in-stadium and on-air in all games or a game immediately following events that rise to a national level. Clubs also often hold moments following a tragic event that affects their community.” Outside of football, other professional sports teams also paid tribute, including Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen, who wrote “Charlie Kirk” on the side of his hat between two crosses. The New York Yankees also observed a moment of silence before their game on Wednesday.  A memorial for Kirk will be held next Sunday, September 21, at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, in Glendale. The venue seats 63,000 people.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who is eyeing a 2026 run for New York governor, tore into sitting Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul for endorsing far-left NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani — branding the frontrunner as a “raging antisemite communist” and accusing Hochul of enabling policies that are wrecking the Empire State. Appearing on Fox & Friends on Monday morning, Stefanik launched a fiery attack, stating, “Kathy Hochul is the worst governor in America, and it was only a matter of time before she bent the knee for this raging antisemite communist.” She added that Hochul now “owns” Mamdani’s extreme agenda, which includes stances of defunding the police, abolishing prisons, eliminating private health insurance, and legalizing prostitution. Stefanik didn’t hold back on the consequences of Hochul’s hard-left pivot, saying the governor has “embraced communism” and “put jet fuel on commie Mamdani.” She blasted Hochul for pandering to her radical base while ignoring the will of New Yorkers, the majority of whom Stefanik says reject Mamdani’s views and want “common sense” leadership. “She owns all of his heinous positions that will make New York less affordable and more dangerous,” Stefanik said, pointing to skyrocketing taxes, collapsing public safety, and mass outmigration. “They’re not leaving because of the weather,” she noted. “They’re leaving because of the policies.” Stefanik’s remarks follow her formation of the “Save New York” PAC, which aims to elect Republicans statewide in 2025 and lay the groundwork for her expected gubernatorial bid. With potential GOP challengers like Rep. Mike Lawler stepping aside, Stefanik is increasingly seen as the frontrunner should she decide to enter the race. Slamming Hochul’s alignment with Mamdani’s radical proposals, Stefanik said the governor has “embraced tax hikes, defunding the police, government-run grocery stores, and decriminalizing sex work,” warning that such policies will “further destroy New York.” Stefanik pointed to recent polling to bolster her case, noting that Hochul is hemorrhaging support among independents and on Long Island. “Sixty percent of voters on Long Island want someone new,” she said, adding that “no state moved more to the Republican direction than New York in 2024.” The congresswoman argued that New Yorkers — regardless of party — are waking up to the extremism of the state’s Democratic leadership. “The vast majority of New York City and New York residents do not want communism. They do not want antisemitism,” she said. As the state gears up for a volatile 2026 cycle, Stefanik is positioning herself as the GOP’s answer to what she calls a collapsing Democrat Party that’s been hijacked by the radical left.
