According to multiple outlets, President Trump will attempt to secure a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia by Easter (April 20th). The leaked, unconfirmed plan detailed Trump’s effort to end the war within 100 days. Some of the details include: Have Zelensky agree to ceasefire by April 20th Ukraine barred from joining NATO Kyiv to recognize Russian sovereignty on annexed land Establish a European-led demilitarized zone that could include British troops, no American troops involved The EU would also play a crucial role in Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction, according to Trump’s supposed proposal, as part of a broader effort to ensure the country’s long-term stability and growth. On top of this, Ukrainian troops will be made to leave Russia’s Kursk region, where it launched a counteroffensive in August, while a contingent of European soldiers, which could include British troops, would be asked to police a demilitarised zone. American troops will not be involved in this contingent. The EU will reportedly be asked to assist Ukraine in its reconstruction efforts, which may cost as much as $486billion (£392billion) over the next decade according to the German Marshall Fund thinktank. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has denied the existence of the ceasefire plans and the White House has yet to officially comment on the reports. But if confirmed, it would see Zelensky and Vladimir Putin sharing a phone call within days before the warring pair meet either in late February or early March. An official ceasefire declaration would then be made on April 20. A declaration on the agreed parameters for ending the war would then be released by May 9, after which Kyiv would be asked not to extend martial law or mobilise troops. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and enacted in Trump’s 2017 tax cuts law. Turner has said he wants to expand the program’s efforts. “I saw firsthand the impact of this initiative, as it gave Americans living in underserved communities an opportunity, a foundation to start businesses, to live in better homes, to be self-sustaining, to be confident, and to unleash that promise and potential that the lord has given each of us in our country,” Turner said during his confirmation hearing.
