Christmas Travel-Plan Your Escape..

Christmas vacation getaways, start packing! Christmas is about 16 weeks away. Where did the year go! As we all know, if you want to get away for the holidays, you have to book your destination soon as flights, places and events get sold out quickly. Booking your Christmas vacation early can offer a greater selection of accommodations, flights, and activities and you’ll have a better chance of securing your preferred choices when you start planning sooner. If you aren't chartering a flight and are flying commercial, you'll get better pricing as airlines, resorts, and tours have exclusive deals, on Christmas travel ultimately saving you money for holiday shopping and activities. You'll also have more time to plan your trip, so that you can choose the best activities, attractions, and dining options. Imagine being stress free for the holidays.. The holiday season can be hectic, and planning a last-minute vacation can lead to avoidable hassles. Secure your vacation early to enjoy peace of mind, knowing that your travel arrangements are already taken care of. With that being said, I've put together a couple of holiday travel suggestions for your perusal. There is something for everyone from solo travelers to large families. With the plethora of activities and events available, your Christmas vacation this year will surely sparkle. Quebec City, Canada Old Quebec transforms into a European-style Christmas village. Visit the German Christmas Market, take in the festive lights and decorations, and enjoy activities like sledding and ice skating. Quebec City is also one of the most romantic destinations in North America. Historic architecture and cobblestone streets, particularly in Old Quebec, feel like a journey back in time. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, showcasing stunning 17th and 18th-century buildings, quaint shops, and picturesque streets, creating a romantic ambiance for couples to explore together. The city's location along the St. Lawrence River offers stunning views, especially from high points like the Terrasse Dufferin, which provides sweeping views of the river and the iconic Château Frontenac. Take a stroll while enjoying the scenery or watching the sunset. I think the Château Frontenac is one of the most iconic hotels, and possibly the most recognizable symbol of Quebec City. Its grandeur and historic elegance make it a perfect romantic setting. I love the spa services! Don't forget to check out the the shops at the Old Port. Winter Carnival (Carnaval de Québec). for snowshoeing, and you might as well explore the Ice Hotel (Hôtel de Glace). Oh, and a romantic boat cruise on the St. Lawrence River to cap your visit. :) Rovaniemi, Finland Don't you wanna meet Santa Claus? It's Santa's official hometown! Rovaniemi transforms into a picturesque winter wonderland during the Christmas season. Visit Santa Claus Village, where you can meet Santa himself year-round and send postcards from the Santa Claus Post Office. This charming village is a sweet little place for families and couples. Did you know that Rovaniemi is located within the Arctic Circle? That makes it a prime spot for observing the mesmerizing Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). During the Christmas season, the area's dark skies provide an epic backdrop for this natural phenomenon. Take a ride through the snowy forests, pulled by stunning huskies or the gentle reindeers, giving you an authentic taste of the local traditions. Stay at the Igloo hotel or a glass-roofed cabin, where you can lie in bed and gaze at the stars or the Northern Lights without leaving the comfort of your room. Scotland Yes, Scotland can be an incredibly romantic Christmas destination during Christmas. Edinburgh's stunning medieval architecture and historic significance, and the Christmas market is filled with bright multi colored lights, handcrafted gifts, and seasonal treats. The backdrop of the Edinburgh Castle illuminated at night adds to the atmosphere. Scotland's natural beauty is amplified in winter. The snow-capped Highlands, tranquil lochs, and rugged landscapes create a picturesque Christmas setting. Scenic drives through the Highlands or cozy walks in nature can be a highlight for couples. The Castles are everywhere, and several host Christmas events plus they are beautifully lighted at night. Scotland is famous for its Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve) celebrations, which often include lively street parties, and fireworks. Scotland's rich history, stunning landscapes, and festive spirit, offers a romantic backdrop for couples during the Christmas season. Whether exploring charming towns, cozying up in a luxurious lodge, or participating in festive traditions, Scotland provides a unique holiday experience filled with magic and romance that is hard to match. North Carolina When I say North Carolina, I really mean the Blue Ridge, and specifically the areas encompassing Blowing Rock, Boone, and Banner Elk. The scenic overlooks on the winding mountain roads of the Blue Ridge Mountains take my breath away every time. Plenty of cozy cafes, boutique shops, and art. Photograph credit: The Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Fund If you are inclined there are winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding at places like Sugar Mountain Resort and Beech Mountain Resort. Drive a little way to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville while you are at it as they have one of the very best holiday light displays. The Blue Ridge Mountains are renowned for their wineries and craft breweries. Wine tasting at local vineyards or while sharing a cozy outdoor meal with mountain views is a sacrifice I might be willing to make.. Well, and this year, if you are like me and want to do something a little different, how about staying at a castle? Yes, staying in a castle for the holidays is a magical experience that can offer both romance and a sense of history. Here are several enchanting castles around the world where you can spend your holiday vacation: Ashford Castle, Ireland Location: County Mayo The castle dates back to the 12th century and offers luxurious rooms, fine dining, and stunning grounds. Couples can indulge in activities like falconry, horse riding, and spa treatments amid the castle’s picturesque landscape. Château de Bagnols, France Location: Beaujolais Region Circa 13th-century, the castle features luxurious accommodations and exquisite dining experiences. Surrounded by vineyards, it’s a perfect getaway for wine lovers and those seeking romance. The charm of the French countryside adds to the castle's appeal during the holidays. Amberley Castle, England Location: West Sussex Amberley Castle dates back to the 12th century and offers an authentic castle experience with modern luxury. Guests are treated to fine dining, beautiful gardens, and cozy accommodations. The Christmas decorations and celebrations bring the yuletide joy to all. Castello di Casole, Italy Location: Tuscany This beautifully restored castle is set in the heart of Tuscany and offers upscale accommodations, fine dining, and stunning panoramic views of the countryside. The castle provides a romantic setting perfect for exploring the beautiful Tuscan landscape and enjoying the holiday festivities. Holiday vacations create new cherished memories with loved ones. By planning early, you set the stage for a holiday experience filled with joy, relaxation, and the opportunity to create traditions that will last a lifetime.  Support these amazing charities: Matthew 23 Make A Wish St Jude Habitat For Humanity Persecution.org   Don't forget to follow the blogger on Twitter: Listen to more good country music here  Check out our music podcasts on Pandora

The Great Reward of Servanthood – Senior Living – September 2

The Great Reward of Servanthood Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. – Philippians 2:3-4 A large group of European pastors came to one of D. L. Moody's Northfield Bible Conferences in Massachusetts in the late 1800s. Following the European custom of the time, each guest put his shoes outside his room to be cleaned by the hall servants overnight. But because this was America, there were no hall servants. Walking the halls that night, Moody saw the shoes and was determined not to embarrass his European brothers. He mentioned the need to some ministerial students who were there, but was met with only silence or excuses. So Moody returned to the dorm, gathered up the shoes, and, alone in his room, the famous evangelist began to clean and polish the shoes. Only the unexpected arrival of a friend in the midst of the work revealed the secret. When the foreign visitors opened their doors the next morning, their shoes were shined. They never know by whom. Moody told no one, but his friend told a few people, and during the rest of the conference, different men volunteered to shine the shoes in secret. D. L. Moody was a man with a servant's heart, which was the basis of his true greatness. And while many might consider his act of service as that of someone who was "super spiritual", all it took was humility to do what he did. In the same way, God calls us to humility each and every day-to live out the love and life of Christ to a watching world around us! Prayer Challenge Ask God to give you the humility it takes to show Christ's love to a watching world. Questions for Thought Think of a time when you truly served others with a humble heart. How did it make you feel? What specifically can you do today to look out for others' interests and serve them with a humble heart? Tom Cotton DESTROYS NBC’s Welker on Israel, Abortion

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) came into NBC’s Meet the Press and gave a master class in how to handle Regime Media counter-surrogacy for Democrats. Specifically, by never giving in to the Regime Media’s narratives and premises. Watch as Cotton first takes Welker to the woodshed over her insistence in defending the Biden-Harris regime from its insistence in hindering Israel’s response to the deadly Hamas attack last October 7th, and its deliberate withholding of weapons shipments to Israel over the decision to enter into Rafah: "You can do your fact-check thing all you want, I'm going to tell you the REAL facts". Tom Cotton WRECKS Kristen Welker on the Biden-Harris administration's arms embargo and overall hindrance of Israel's war efforts pic.twitter.com/kerMO1v6eo — Jorge Bonilla (@BonillaJL) September 2, 2024 By definition, an embargo is a legal prohibition of commerce. Whether it is one or multiple shipments, there was an embargo of weapons shipments to Israel as a result of its decision to undertake the incursion into Rafah. But Welker insists on lecturing Cotton, and imposing a counter-narrative that Cotton forcefully rejects. And in the immediate aftermath of an American citizen getting murdered by a terrorist organization, language matters. Speaking of language, there is the matter of abortion. To wit, the allegation of Trump “flip-flops” on abortion ahead of a vote on Florida’s Amendment 4, which would repeal the state-s 6-week law and extend abortions up to a “viability” standard of up to 24 weeks. Here again, look at how Cotton handles Welker’s premises: WATCH: Tom Cotton flips Kristen Welker's abortion question- from Florida's 6-week law to the "Women's Health Protection Act" pic.twitter.com/18PaCqvB2Z — Jorge Bonilla (@BonillaJL) September 2, 2024 Cotton basically turns Welker’s arguments on their ear. From the Florida law and ballot initiative to the Democrat bill that would have enshrined unfettered abortion throughout the land, with very few limits. Cotton forces Welker to defend that bill, and puts her on the spot with regard to the exceptions.  Here again, Welker firefights for Kamala Harris by splitting hairs on the definition of “voted against”, with regard to a revised Born Alive Infant Protection Act. In this Senate era, where 60 votes are needed for things to come to a vote, A vote against cloture these days is, in effect, a vote against a bill, no matter how much Welker would like to say otherwise. Additionally, Cotton had to deal with Welker covering for the Regime on the Abbey Gate dead, as did every other Regime Media Sunday show. The lesson remained and was consistent throughout: NEVER accept the media’s premises or narratives. Tom Cotton demonstrated that in a forceful manner.
