LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The fire that destroyed the Diamondback Motorcycle Club in Windsor Township Christmas day was arson, Michigan State Police Lt. Rene Gonzalez tells 6 News. 47-year-old Leo Allan Krepps was arrested on July 2 by law enforcement on charges he was responsible for the fire. BOSTON — An owner of a now-defunct trucking company agreed to plead guilty Tuesday to federal charges related to a deadly crash in New Hampshire that killed seven motorcyclists of a Marine Corps veterans motorcycle club. Dunyadar Gasanov, 39, pled guilty in Springfield, Massachusetts, to three counts of making false statements to federal investigators. The car transport company he owned, Westfield Transport Inc., employed Volodymyr Zhukovskyy, a commercial trucker driver who was involved in a 2019 crash that left seven motorcyclists dead in northern New Hampshire. Gasanov was accused of falsifying driver logs to avoid federal road safety regulations including exceeding limits on the hours a driver can operate. He also instructed at least one employee to falsify records by deactivating logging devices in order to exceed the allowable driving hours and lied about it to federal investigators. He also claimed to federal investigators that he had met Zhukovskyy the day he was hired when, in fact, he had known him for years and was aware that Zhukovskyy had been charged with drunken driving. Kennedy Jr.’s name should not appear on New York’s ballot, saying that he falsely claimed a New York residence on nominating petitions despite living in California. The scion of the famed Democratic political dynasty vowed to appeal, dismissing the ruling as partisan. If the judge’s decision is upheld, it would not only keep Kennedy off the ballot in New York but could also lead to challenges in other states where he used an address in New York City’s suburbs to gather signatures. “The Democrats are showing contempt for democracy,” Kennedy said in a statement, noting the ruling judge is a Democrat. “They aren’t confident they can win at the ballot box, so they are trying to stop voters from having a choice. We will appeal and we will win.” The ruling came after a North Carolina judge decided earlier Monday that Kennedy can remain on that state’s ballot following a separate challenge on different grounds. In New York, Judge Christina Ryba concluded in her 34-page decision that the rented bedroom Kennedy claimed as his residence in New York wasn’t a “bona fide and legitimate residence, but merely a ‘sham’ address that he assumed for the purpose of maintaining his voter registration” and furthering his political candidacy.
