Authorities have released the names of the Syracuse police officer and Onondaga County sheriff’s deputy who were killed in the line of duty Sunday night. Officer Michael Jensen and Lieutenant Deputy Michael Hoosock were killed Sunday night after exchanging gunfire with a suspect‚ who was also killed. “There are no words for it except to tell them that [Jensen] was a proud officer who worked a territory car and after a little over two years on the job you could tell he took it seriously. to protect and serve the community‚” Syracuse Police Chief Cecile said‚ according to WSYR-TV. Jensen graduated from Le Moyne College‚ where he played on its club ice hockey team. He had been a police officer for two-and-a-half years‚ after graduating from the Syracuse Police Academy in 2022. “It was very difficult to sit there with the family of a son who is two and a half years on the job‚ and they talk about how proud he was of that uniform and that badge‚ and I saw it when I went to roll calls and [Syracuse Police Benevolent Association President Joe] Moran said it that officer had a smile on his face every time‚” Cecile added. Hoosock had been with the Onondaga Sheriff’s Office since 2007 and received the Medal of Valor and New York State Deputy of the Year award. “[He] Had a wife‚ three young children ages three‚ five‚ and seven. He was our watch commander‚ our bomb squad commander. He received multiple accommodations and medals‚” Onondaga Sheriff Toby Shelley said. Hoosock made lieutenant last June. “I knew Hoosock personally everybody knew him as ‘hooch’ you may have seen him last week if you were at the ribbon cutting at 57 and 31‚ he was a very active member of Moyers Corners fire department‚ and they were there for that ribbon cutting‚” Shelley said‚ according to WSYR. The officers tracked the license plate to a home in Liverpool. More Syracuse officers arrived‚ along with Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies‚ and found what appeared to be firearms inside the car. Law enforcement then heard what sounded like someone “manipulating a firearm” inside the home‚ Cecile said in an early Monday morning press conference. “Moments later there was an exchange of gunfire between at least one suspect and the officers and the deputies‚” he added. Jensen and Hoosock were both struck and rushed to a nearby hospital‚ where they were pronounced dead. The suspect was taken to the hospital‚ where he was also pronounced dead. “We lost two heroes tonight‚” Cecile said at the Monday press conference. “Two men who answered the call to duty to put on the badge to protect the community‚ protect and serve. We lost two of them tonight.”

Zionism = Genocide.” An MIT student who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution from peers said there are concerns that Julca will dissuade future Jewish students from applying. “The employment positions for students in the admissions office are meant for interacting with future students and showing what it’s like to be an MIT student day-to-day‚” the student said. “By choosing this person out of many other possible student candidates‚ MIT has shown that it wants to showcase rule-breaking students and make it clear that anti-Israel students who praise Hamas martyrs represent a popular and normal viewpoint on MIT’s campus.” MIT student and new admissions office employee‚ Kathleen Julca‚ posted a photo of her holding a sign claiming “Zionism=racism.” (Photo: Facebook) In November‚ Julca shared a video of an anti-Israel protest that was counter-protested by pro-Israel students. “No matter where the protests happen‚ hateful and aggressive pro-Israel protesters appear‚” Julca’s video states. “MIT what will you do&;#63;” In March‚ Julca encouraged peers to vote anonymously in a referendum for a ceasefire in the war between Hamas and Israel by sharing graphics that accuse those who oppose it of being “complicit in the murder of people in Gaza.” “If you are more concerned with policing the movement for a Free Palestine than calling for an end to the Genocide in Gaza—you are complicit in upholding a system which dehumanizes‚ overpolices and jeapordizes [sic] the safety of Black and brown people‚ minoritized genders‚ indigenous peoples and every person fighting for a free Palestine‚” the shared graphic states. The graphic adds that the backers call for an end to Israeli military war research and that they “believe in the cause for Palestinian liberation.” “It does not require any stake in the matter or take any risk to anonymously vote for a ceasefire‚ if you are an undergraduate at MIT use your privilege a vote yes on MIT UA referendum #2‚” Julca wrote in her post. The referendum passed last month‚ with 1‚209 votes in support and just 688 opposed‚ according to The Tech. A few days later‚ Julca advertised an anti-Israel lunch event to “honour the martyrs of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.” Prior to her anti-Israel activism‚ the engineering student received the 2021 Coca-Cola Scholars $20‚000 scholarship for creating a supportive environment and mentorship for girls pursuing a computer science education. MIT did not respond to a request for comment.

Former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin admitted that she was worried about the prospect of a Trump supporter being able to “sneak onto” the jury in the former president’s Manhattan hush-money trial but shared no such concerns that Trump haters might do so. Hostin made the comments during Tuesday’s broadcast of “The View‚” telling her co-hosts on the ABC midday talk show that she did not believe anyone who supported Donald Trump could be impartial when it came time to examine the evidence and deliver a verdict. The Alliance for Defending Freedom filed an emergency legal challenge. “ADF International is supporting an emergency legal challenge against the mayor’s order to shut down the conference‚ arguing it is contrary to the fundamental rights to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly – the pillars of truly democratic societies‚” Paul Coleman‚ the Executive Director of ADF International and a speaker at the conference on National Conservatism‚ said in a statement. “Open dialogue is supposed to be at the core of European politics; yet here in the capital of the EU‚ a thoughtful exchange on policy has been shut down by unilateral decree‚” he continued. “This is a watershed moment where the true censorship crisis in Europe is on full public display.
