Getting Gassy: CNN BEGS Readers ‘Don’t Panic’ About Four-Month High Gas Prices

Getting Gassy: CNN BEGS Readers ‘Don’t Panic’ About Four-Month High Gas Prices

CNN is back to its old schtick of desperately spinning higher gas prices to look like no big deal for Americans‚ even though they’re currently hovering at four-month highs.  CNN addressed gas prices hitting $3.40 a gallon on Friday‚ after bottoming out at $3.07 in January. Instead of just reporting the straight news‚ CNN reporter Matt Egan begged readers in his headline: “Gas prices have surged to four-month highs. Don’t panic.” Egan has become a comedic figure at CNN for persistently doing the facts tango for President Joe Biden to deceive Americans struggling to pay at the pump‚ so it’s not surprising he’s back to his old tricks again. Egan warned in his latest spin‚ “The speedy price increase threatens to unwind progress on inflation and add to the financial pressure some Americans are feeling.” But not to fear though‚ Egan pleaded‚ “experts say there is no reason to panic about gas prices‚ at least not yet. Gas prices always rise at this time of the year.” But it’s not “always” the case that U.S. oil refineries are simultaneously struggling significantly to stay afloat due to increasingly daunting maintenance costs and regulations‚ inconvenient little factoids that undercut Egan's entire premise. Despite Egan’s simplistic take‚ recent price increases are not just a simple matter of seasonal upswings‚ as Prices Futures Group Senior Account Executive Phil Fynn told Fox Business on March 13. Flynn cautioned that people were still feeling the lingering “reverberations” of various refinery outages. If the U.S. refinery industry continues to stumble‚ said Flynn‚ “‘we could see a continuation of the uptick in gasoline prices that we have seen.’" But Egan instead strained to find some kind of silver lining in the gas price squeeze. “The good news is that refineries are starting to get healthy again” after the refinery utilization rate “rebounded significantly in early March” following multi-year lows in February‚ Egan claimed. But as always with Egan’s half-cocked reporting‚ there are significant holes in his narrative.  American Energy Alliance President Tom Pyle ripped Egan’s spin apart in an exclusive interview with MRC Business‚ saying‚ “CNN has it completely wrong with respect to the health of U.S. refineries‚ which are under constant assault from liberal blue state governors and the Biden administration.” Pyle critiqued that Biden and company‚ given their apathy towards fossil fuels‚  “have no incentive to increase our overall refining capacity.”  According to Pyle‚ U.S. oil refining is currently “under pressure by federal and state policies that are prioritizing biofuels and renewable diesel over petroleum refining.”. The American Emergency Alliance president warned that many smaller refineries are “shifting to making smaller amounts of food energy at refineries that used to process oil.”  Pyle concluded that the federal policies are basically “driving US refining to mirror California’s‚ where they have lost 11% of refining capacity over the past decade.”  Even now‚ footnoted Pyle‚ the Biden administration is weaponizing the Environmental Protection Agency through its “Risk Management Program” to target the use of catalysts for making alkylate “an important component of modern‚ clean-burning gasoline.” In effect‚ warned Pyle‚ it will become even “harder to make gasoline in the U.S‚” at a time when China just surpassed the U.S. “for the first time” ever in oil refining capacity in 2022. Does that sound “healthy” to you‚ Egan? On Feb. 20‚ energy news website OilPrice.com didn’t mince words about how “[o]verall‚ the U.S. refining industry is in bad shape” — the polar opposite image of what Egan portrayed. The U.S. reportedly lost six “operable petroleum refineries” over the past three years‚ with refining capacity “falling to 18.27 million bpd as of August 2023‚” OilPrice.com analyzed. In fact‚ the energy news site noted that “high maintenance costs as well as a government that is not too keen on fossil fuels have hampered recovery in the post-pandemic period.” Pyle told MRC Business that the government meddling was “unfortunate” because the U.S. “enjoys enormous resources in the form of hydrocarbons which can be made into distillates — including diesel — more cheaply and efficiently‚ but for government mandates and made-up markets.”  In early January 2024‚ U.S. refinery utilization nosedived 11 percent‚ “reaching a nadir of 81% during the weeks ending February 9 and February 16‚” according to petrochemical market intelligence website ChemAnalyst.com on March 8. That plunge‚ wrote ChemAnalyst journalist Sasha Fernandes‚ “briefly breached the five-year (2019–23) low‚ signaling a significant downturn in operational activity.”  But Egan couldn’t be stopped‚ proceeding to gaslight readers (no pun intended) on how “gas prices are still a bit cheaper than a year ago when the national average was $3.45 a gallon.” That spin is a 180-degree turnaround from how Egan initially treated gas prices when they surged past $3 in July 2021 for a then seven-year high. “Gas prices are above $3. Biden doesn’t have a magic wand to fix that‚” read his 2021 headline. Ah‚ so $3 gas in 2021 was bad‚ but now Americans are just supposed to shrug off the $3.40 average they’re paying now because at least it’s not as pricey as a year ago? Consistency be damned. ChemAnalyst had a rebuttal to the kind of spin leftist media talking heads like Egan employ whenever they’re reporting bad economic news in Biden’s world: Despite retail average prices for gasoline and diesel in the United States remaining below their 2023 counterparts for this time of the year‚ diminishing inventories across major U.S. refining regions have propelled retail prices upward in recent weeks. The substantial drop in refinery utilization is attributed to reduced plant operations in both the Midwest and Gulf Coast regions‚ exacerbated by intensified seasonal patterns‚ consequently impacting inventories. Hang it up‚ Egan. People aren’t buying your pro-Bidenomics snake oil.  Conservatives are under attack. Contact CNN at 404-827-1500 and demand the outlet quit gaslighting Americans on gas prices and oil refining under Biden’s anti-fossil fuel obsessed administration.

TikTok on Chopping Block Again? House Gives App Ultimatum

A bill that could be the beginning of the end for TikTok overwhelmingly passed the House Wednesday. The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act would force TikTok to divest itself from its Chinese-controlled parent company‚ ByteDance‚ or risk being banned from the U.S. It would also penalize app stores that carry the app‚ or other foreign adversary-controlled apps‚ to American users barring divestiture. The vote passed in a bipartisan landslide with 352 representatives voting in favor and 65 opposed. Supporters of the bill included 197 Republicans and 155 Democrats. MRC President Brent Bozell threw his support behind the bill Tuesday. “It is absolutely correct and necessary for TikTok to divest itself of any control from the communist Chinese government in China if it wants to do business in the United States‚” Bozell said. “I support this bill. I support reining in TikTok. I support stopping the communist Chinese from influencing the United States subversively.” TikTok must divest itself from China if it wants to do business in the United States. We at the MRC have been consistent from the beginning. TikTok is a national security threat. @BrentBozell pic.twitter.com/FfSh1futU3 — Media Research Center (@theMRC) March 12‚ 2024 The bipartisan bill would give President Joe Biden the authority to effectively block TikTok from doing business in the U.S. if it does not sever ties with ByteDance. The bill will now go to the Senate‚ where it must pass before having a change of becoming law. Surprisingly‚ Biden pledged to sign the bill if both houses of Congress pass it‚ despite his avid use of TikTok for his re-election campaign. Biden has posted 68 TikTok videos to date. Joe Biden just posted his 68th TikTok video after banning 4 million federal employees from using it pic.twitter.com/CeAAvyErlB — Dan Schneider (@Schneider_DC) March 13‚ 2024 TikTok denounced the bill shortly after it became public. This most recent step towards a national ban comes after Biden ordered that the app be removed from devices used by federal government agencies in 2022. No fewer than 37 states have also taken steps to ban the app in varying capacities‚ according to a Government Technology report.  MRC Free Speech America and MRC Business Editor Luis Cornelio contributed to this report. ABC’s Biden Apple Polisher‚ WH Hack Team Up to Trash ‘Partisan Player’‚ ‘Political’ Hur

Following the conclusion of Tuesday’s marathon House hearing featuring former Special Counsel Robert Hur taking heat over his report about President Biden’s handling of classified information‚ White House Counsel’s Office spokesman Ian Sams went outside to a driveway outside the West Wing to take questions from reporters. Some were tough and pertinent‚ but others shilled‚ including ABC’s chief Biden apple polisher Mary Bruce. Bruce‚ whose formal title is chief White House correspondent‚ led off the Q&;A with this hacktastic softball: “Does the White House believe that Robert Hur is acting as a partisan player?” ABC’s chief Biden apple polisher Mary Bruce: “Does the White House believe that Robert Hur is acting as a partisan player?” WH Counsel’s Office Spokesman Iam Sams: “I think today’s laid bare that the special counsel‚ was — as you mentioned‚ was a Trump appointee‚ made some… pic.twitter.com/Sxu50bmnIj — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 12‚ 2024 Having had the ball placed on the tee‚ Sams boasted the hearing “laid bare that the special counsel‚ was — as you mentioned‚ was a Trump appointee‚ made some inappropriate comments about the President in his report that do not match up with the transcript...every American can see.” Sams kept things moving and didn’t answer Bruce’s second question‚ but she asked it anyway: “But do you think he has a political agenda?” Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich had the opposite approach and thus behaved like an actual reporter: “What is — what the position that you’re trying to make? That there was no wrongdoing by the President?” JACQUI TIME‚ part 3(!!): “What is — what the position that you’re trying to make? That there was no wrongdoing by the President?” WH Counsel’s Office Spokesman Ian Sams: “Explain what you mean by that. That was the conclusion — is that there’s no case here.”@JacquiHeinrich:… pic.twitter.com/oe4tAA9lXj — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 12‚ 2024 Like with many questions asked by Heinrich or her colleague Peter Doocy‚ Sams asked her to explain more‚ which boiled down to wondering how he could say “there was no wrongdoing in claiming that the case is closed” when Hur explained he declined prosecution out of concern for how Biden “might be perceived by a jury.” Some rambling later about American being defined by a “presumption of innocence”‚ NBC’s Gabe Gutierrez and the AP’s Seung Min Kim called out Biden lying about Hur having brought up Beau’s death while CNN’s M.J. Lee went soft ans asked what the White House wants Americans to think about this whole hubbub (click “expand”): NBC’s @GabeGutierrez: “Why — why did the President say that it was Robert Hur who brought up his son’s death when the transcript shows otherwise? WH Counsel’s Office Spokesman Ian Sams: “Well‚ the transcript clearly shows that the President was being asked by the special counsel… pic.twitter.com/rVWizn27fd — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 12‚ 2024 GUTIERREZ: Why — why did the President say that it was Robert Hur who brought up his son’s death when the transcript shows otherwise? SAMS: Well‚ the transcript clearly shows that the President was being asked by the special counsel about the book that he wrote about his son’s unfortunate and untimely passing‚ and the grief and the pain that he felt and how he moved through that to try to find new purpose for the first time out of office‚ leaving office in 45 years....So‚ anybody who’s familiar with this President’s powerful story‚ emotional story of overcoming that loss and finding a new purpose and trying to keep going for the country‚ to try to save our democracy and move our country forward — anybody who’s familiar with that story from the President will understand that the President is going to talk about his son‚ Beau‚ and I think the transcript makes plainly clear‚ and I think the American people understand this. The President remembers exactly when his son died. He carries that pain with him every day. He carries that emotional toll with him every day‚ and the transcript only makes that clear. LEE: You just heard Robert Burr‚ testifying for about five hours. Did the White House learn anything new from his testimony today‚ and I also just wanted to know: What do you think the American people should make up his safe and that he has not exonerated the President? SAMS: Yeah. Thanks for that question. I think that the main — the main thing I took away from the hearing today was that we had three hours of the Republicans showing how hypocritical they’re willing to be in order to politically attack the President...The case is closed. The evidence did not support bringing charges and it’s over. It’s time to move on. And — and the question that you asked about him claiming that he didn’t exonerate the President. I mentioned this before. We have a presumption of innocence in this country....There is no case here. The President is innocent‚ and that was the conclusion of this case. [REPORTERS SHOUTING] [TO KIM] Seung Min. KIM: I wanted to follow up on Gabe’s point. Because the president was pretty angry the night of the Hur report‚ saying‚ ‘how in the hell you raise that’ regarding the special counsel and his son’s death‚ and the transcript does show that Hur did not bring up Beau’s death specifically. So‚ does the President regret making that accusation? SAMS: Look‚ the President was very‚ I think‚ emotional about the fact that this special counsel who‚ you know‚ has spent five hours with the President‚ used his report to make a patently false claim that the President somehow doesn’t remember when his son died...He thought it was outrageous and inappropriate for that report to include such an inappropriate and — and — and extraneous comment...I think that you saw the — the — the anger and — and emotional reaction of a father who still experiences the pain of that loss every single day‚ and I think that it’s not just us who have said it. It’s not just others who have said it. It’s former leadership of the Justice Department. Former attorney general‚ the former deputy attorney general who have said that exact comment being in that report was inappropriate and so‚ that’s what the President was reacting to. In between process questions later from CBS’s Ed O’Keefe‚ Reuters’s Jeff Mason‚ and The Wall Street Journal’s Ken Thomas‚ USA Today’s Joey Garrison playing Captain Obvious: “Going back to the exoneration question‚ is it fair to say that the White House disagrees with Robert Hur and the report‚ in fact‚ did exonerate President Biden?” Heinrich came back around again for round two of trying to suss out what‚ put simply‚ is Sams’s deal and what’s been the whole point of this gaggle (click “expand”): HEINRICH: I wanted to clarify your answer to me and a couple others. So‚ you’re saying that the President — you’re — you’re admitting to some wrongdoing‚ but he’s innocent of charges. SAMS: No. There’s no admission to that. HEINRICH: — well‚ there’s some wrongdoing in the sense that you would make changes here to make sure this doesn’t happen again. But you just said he is innocent in an answer to one of us and then you‚ when you were talking about the exoneration‚ made the claim that‚ you know‚ the case is closed. So‚ what — what is the bottomline on [inaudible]? SAMS: Yeah‚ the bottomline is the case is closed. A prosecutor spent 15 months investigating whether the President committed anything that rises to the level of a chargeable offense. He decided‚ clearly and easily‚ that that was not the case‚ that the evidence does not support that and he was not going to bring a case. The case is now closed. As I mentioned earlier‚ in America‚ we have a presumption of innocence. The whole point of this exercise is to decide whether that should be put into question. When the decision is made that the case is over and the President has been fully cleared‚ it’s over. You — you bring up the sort of systemic issue of the sort of accidental removal of classified documents from government property. This has been something that’s plagued the country going back 50 years. You know‚ every administration — Democrat‚ Republican — going all the way back to 50 years have accidentally had‚ you know‚ senior officials‚ staff‚ otherwise‚ take classified documents. The President takes that very seriously. Obviously‚ you saw that with his cooperation with this investigation. As soon as something was found‚ he turned it all back in and he’s going to do something about it. He’s going to make sure that — that we have recommendations from a taskforce of experts who’ve handled transitions‚ who’ve dealt with classified information who can make a recommendation for how to make sure that these sort of accidents don’t keep happening. We saw it with Vice President Pence — right — before we this investigation of the President begin. And so‚ you know‚ we want to make sure that we’re doing something about it. It — it — you know — it — mistakes can happen. And so‚ there’s — and it’s important that everybody‚ you know‚ work toward the common goal of protecting our national security information. And so‚ that’s exactly what the President is going to do. Sams tried to have Gray TV’s Jon Decker’s softball question be the last query as he thanked Decker because it allowed him to clear up “a big misconception with the report and the way it was presented”‚ but EWTN’s Owen Jensen shouted to Sam about whether he regrets having penned a letter that attacked the press for how they covered the Hur report. Of course‚ Sams had none‚ seeing as how only a stern letter was the extent of the hell raised by the White House press. To see the relevant gaggle transcript from March 12‚ click here.

Why Is My Boston Terrier Shaking So Much? Our Vet Discusses 10 Likely Reasons

There are many different reasons your Boston Terrier may be shaking. Some of these reasons are completely harmless and a normal part of your dog’s daily routine‚ but some may be a sign of a serious health issue. It is important for Boston Terrier owners to be able to identify whether the reason their dog is shaking is normal or abnormal. To help you determine whether your dog’s shaking is something to worry about or not‚ read this vet-written guide. The 10 Reasons Why Your Boston Terrier Is Shaking So Much 1. Cold Boston Terriers do not have very thick coats so they may be prone to becoming cold very quickly‚ especially in colder climates. If the temperature has dropped or is unusually cold‚ and you notice this is when your dog starts shaking‚ it might be that they are trying to warm themselves up. If so‚ you can put a dog coat on them or move them to a warmer area. 2. Excitement Some dogs can physically shake when they are really excited. Boston Terriers are especially excitable. They may quiver and shake when they see their owner or another dog they like to play with. They may have seen you pick up their favorite toy or start getting their food ready. If they are only shaking when something exciting is happening‚ it is likely that this is the reason‚ and it is perfectly normal behavior. Image Credit: safepaws‚ Pixabay 3. Anxiety Your Boston Terrier may be shaking because they are anxious. If your Boston Terrier feels threatened or stressed by something‚ they can start to shake or tremble in response. Some dogs have a nervous disposition and react to things in their environment. Common sources of anxiety for dogs include loud unpredictable noises‚ for example‚ fireworks or thunderstorms‚ and separation anxiety. 4. Old Age As your Boston Terrier gets older‚ they are more likely to encounter age-related issues. Some of these issues may cause shaking. Things like muscle weakness and joint pain are common causes of shaking in older Boston Terriers. Your vet will be able to determine if your dog’s shaking is likely an age-related issue or something else that needs to be addressed. 5. Pain Your Boston Terrier may be experiencing pain or discomfort‚ and this can make them shake or tremble. They may have injured themselves or have a chronic issue that is hurting them in some way. Boston Terriers are prone to having orthopedic problems such as spinal issues or luxating patella (where the kneecap moves out of its original place in the knee joint). These can cause pain and discomfort and may make them shake. Image Credit: Ground Picture‚ Shutterstock 6. Illnesses There are some diseases that can cause shaking in Boston Terriers. One of these is canine distemper virus. Other causes include: Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) Cancer (especially if it affects the nervous system or structures in the skull) Liver disorders Idiopathic head tremors Rabies virus Shaker syndrome (also known as generalized tremor syndrome‚ this is a central nervous system disorder) 7. Ear Problems Some dogs can have an ear infection or a foreign body in their ear. Either of these can cause your dog to shake their head and shiver or tremble. They may hold their head at a funny angle and suddenly start to jerk about and shake. 8. Seizure Activity Your Boston Terrier may be experiencing a seizure or seizure-like activity. Shaking and trembling may be the first sign of a seizure developing‚ or it may be the actual seizure occurring. Seizures can have serious health consequences‚ so it is very important to seek veterinary attention if you think your dog has experienced one. Image Credit: Stephen Albi‚ Shutterstock 9. Exposure to Toxins There are lots of things that your Boston Terrier may eat that are poisonous or toxic to them. One very common sign of toxin ingestion is shaking or trembling. If you think your dog may have eaten something they weren’t supposed to and they start to shake‚ contact your vet immediately. Depending on the time frame‚ it may be possible for your vet to make your dog vomit to bring the toxin back up‚ or they may be able to give some other medication to prevent the toxin from being absorbed. Common toxins your Boston Terrier may ingest include: Chocolate. Chocolate contains a substance called theobromine. This is highly toxic to dogs. The type of chocolate‚ amount eaten‚ and the size of your dog will determine how badly your dog is affected. Dark chocolate contains higher amounts of theobromine‚ and it takes a smaller amount of chocolate to poison smaller dogs. If you have a smaller Boston Terrier that has eaten dark chocolate‚ there is a higher chance this will be a toxic dose. Typical signs of chocolate poisoning include vomiting‚ diarrhea‚ and restlessness. Severe poisonings may also include shaking‚ tremors‚ and seizures. Coffee. Coffee contains caffeine which is a stimulant. It also contains theobromine‚ the toxic ingredient in chocolate. Signs of coffee toxicity include shaking‚ trembling‚ vomiting‚ diarrhea‚ and seizures. Alcohol. Alcohol can have a profound effect on dogs. It can cause shaking‚ vomiting‚ diarrhea‚ and seizures. If a large amount is ingested it can cause collapse‚ unconsciousness‚ and even death. Raisins and Grapes. Raisins and grapes are toxic to dogs and can cause kidney failure. Clinical signs of toxicity include increased thirst and urination‚ shaking‚ trembling‚ seizures‚ vomiting‚ diarrhea‚ lethargy‚ and collapse. Xylitol. Xylitol is a naturally occurring sweetener that is highly toxic to dogs. It causes their blood sugar to drop to dangerous levels and can cause shaking‚ seizures‚ liver failure‚ and death. It is found in many products such as sugar-free chewing gum‚ cakes and biscuits‚ peanut butter‚ and even toothpaste. If you are concerned about your dog being exposed to something poisonous‚ you can also contact the Pet Poison Helpline. 10. Temperature Too High (Hyperthermia) If your Boston Terrier has a high fever‚ has overexerted themselves or just overheated due to hot weather‚ they may experience shaking. This is a life-threatening emergency. If they are too hot and they cannot cool themselves down‚ this can quickly lead to multiple organ failure. You must take your dog to your vet immediately if this occurs. Image Credit: Siva Nattharom‚ Shutterstock How to Help Your Boston Terrier If They Are Shaking There are a few different things you can do to help your Boston Terrier if they are shaking. Bear in mind this does depend on the underlying cause of the shaking. You will need to have your dog checked over by your vet before you try anything at home as it is very important that your vet rules out any serious health problems that could be the source of the shaking. Once your vet has confirmed there is no underlying illness there are a few different things you can try. If you live in a cold climate or winter is coming‚ you may want to invest in a coat for your dog. There are many different types on the market and lots of different styles too. If they get overexcited‚ it may help to exercise them. Lots of focused attention and positive interactions will help them to burn off some of that pent-up energy. You can throw a ball for them or play chase with them. They will love to engage in a game with their owner. A dog behaviorist may be able to help your dog if the shaking is due to certain behavior issues. There are various methods of conditioning and training that can be carried out to combat stress‚ anxiety‚ fear‚ and other behavior problems that might cause shaking. If you think your Boston Terrier may have separation anxiety‚ you can try some enrichment activities and toys to distract them and focus their mind. There are puzzle toys that are available that can release treats over a certain period of time. You can leave something that smells of you for your dog to snuggle up with. Crate training your dog can sometimes help with anxiety depending on the situation. Conclusion Boston Terriers shake for many different reasons. Usually‚ the reason is harmless and does not require any dramatic intervention. You can gain clues as to why they are shaking by paying attention to their immediate environment and the situation they are in‚ for example‚ a cold climate or an exciting social occasion. There are some situations where shaking can be a sign of a serious health issue. This is why it is important to get your dog checked out by your vet‚ especially if you notice them suddenly start shaking out of the blue or there are other alarming clinical signs you have noted. Biden admin releases energy grid plan for electric-‚ hydrogen-powered freight trucks

On Tuesday‚ the Biden administration released its energy grid plan for electric- and hydrogen-powered long-haul freight trucks‚ according to a press release from the Department of Energy. The administration's 16-year power infrastructure plan will install charging and refueling stations along 12‚000 miles of high-traffic roads and national highways. United States Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said‚ "For over a century‚ petroleum-fueled freight has transported vital food and resources to American families‚ but at the same time‚ these vehicles have also contributed to lower public health‚ especially in densely populated communities."The National Zero-Emission Freight Corridor Strategy was developed by the DOE and Joint Office of Energy and Transportation in partnership with the Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency. The plan aims to build zero-emission fueling infrastructure for long-haul‚ medium- and heavy-duty freight trucks by 2040."The Strategy is designed to meet growing market demands by targeting public investment to amplify private sector momentum‚ focus utility and regulatory energy planning‚ align industry activity‚ and improve air quality in local communities heavily impacted by diesel emissions‚" the DOE's press release read. "Providing ubiquitous and convenient access to electric vehicle (EV) charging and hydrogen refueling along our nation's freight corridors and at intermodal freight facilities and high-usage ports is key to achieving U.S. goals to promote at least 30 percent [zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles] sales by 2030 and 100 percent sales by 2040."Biden's national climate adviser‚ Ali Zaidi‚ noted that 75% of truck traffic travels on 4% of the country's roads. He argued that the strategy would be a "win-win-win" for communities‚ businesses‚ and the climate. The DOE claims the four-phased build-out will have "considerable potential to save Americans money on consumer goods thanks to reduced fueling and maintenance costs associated with transport." The energy grid plan will also provide "significant health benefits for historically disadvantaged populations that suffer the worst impacts of pollution from freight emissions and helping achieve national climate goals‚" it added. The first phase of the strategy‚ to be completed by 2027‚ will use freight volumes to determine the priority hubs. The next stage will "connect hubs along critical freight corridors" by 2030. The strategy designates another five years to "expand corridor connections initiating network development." Lastly‚ the fourth phase will "achieve [a] national network by linking regional corridors for ubiquitous access."According to Federal Highway Administrator Shailen Bhatt‚ long-haul freight trucks contribute roughly 23% of the country's transportation greenhouse gas emissions."These new designations and strategy will help to grow our national EV charging network‚ encourage clean commerce within the freight community‚ and support President Biden's goals of achieving net-zero emissions for the nation by 2050‚" Bhatt said.Like Blaze News? Study resurfaces showing suicide rate among men doubled after sex-change mutilations

The narrative surrounding so-called "gender-affirming care" is fast collapsing. While gender ideologues have dug their heels into the movement's sandy foundations‚ others have begun taking a second look at the evidence long hidden in plain sight. Benjamin Ryan is a gay health reporter with bylines in various publications who has been viciously attacked for questioning the left's dogma concerning transgenderism. Ryan recently gave new life to a glossed-over 2021 study that made abundantly clear that sex-change genital mutilations were a recipe for disaster. Fatal transitions Sex changes have been touted by activists as a way of saving lives. It turns out that they may actually boost the suicide rate among men. Urologists Karyn Eilber‚ Kai Dallas‚ Victoria Scott‚ and Polina Reyblat and sex-change surgeon Jennifer Anger set out to assess rates of "psychiatric emergencies before and after gender affirming surgery in a large population-base cohort." The American Urological Association's Journal of Urology published their damning findings in September 2021. In the study‚ the researchers reviewed datasets pertaining to men and women undergoing sex changes in California between 2012 and 2018. The researchers also identified corresponding emergency room and inpatient psychiatric encounters — "psychiatric encounters" — including suicide attempts. The researchers calculated the rates of these encounters before and after sex-change surgeries. "Overall‚ 869 and 357 patients were identified undergoing vaginoplasty and phalloplasty with 193 (22.2%) and 74 (20.7%) having at least one psychiatric encounter‚" said the study. "Although the overall proportion of those experiencing a psychiatric encounter was similar between the vaginoplasty and phalloplasty groups‚ suicide attempts were more common in the vaginoplasty group." In the context of sex-change procedures‚ a vaginoplasty is the procedure by which a man's penis and testicles are mangled and refashioned into a cavernous wound. A phalloplasty‚ alternatively‚ is the procedure by which a woman's vagina is mangled and refashioned into a mock penis‚ often with the addition of skin peeled from the victim's arm‚ leg‚ or side. Sometimes‚ the female patient may also undergo a corresponding hysterectomy‚ ovary removal‚ and surgical sealing of the vaginal entrance. The rate of a psychiatric encounters taking place after these procedures was 33.9% for men and 26.5% for women. "The overall rates of suicide attempts doubled (3.3% vs 1.5%‚ p=0.017) after vagionoplasty (effect not observed after phalloplasty‚" said the study. Among the 869 whose cases were reviewed‚ 74 men had psychiatric events before their surgeries; 81 had such events afterward; 38 patients had the psychiatric episodes both before and after. The overall risk before was rated at 12.8%‚ and the risk afterward was rated at 13.7%. Nine of the male patients attempted to off themselves before the surgery; 25 attempted to kill themselves afterward. Four patients attempted to kill themselves both before and after. Of the 357 women in the study‚ three attempted to commit suicide before their surgeries and three attempted to commit suicide afterward. The researchers noted that the rates of psychiatric emergencies "are high both before and after gender affirming surgery"; however‚ the rate of suicide attempts in the vaginoplasty group "is more than double that of the general population." Benjamin Ryan highlighted this study Monday on X. At the time of publication‚ his post had over 1 million views. Blaze News reported last month that LGBT activists have lashed out at Ryan for drawing attention to the breakdown of gender ideologues' core claims. GLAAD's New York-based senior communications director Anthony Morrison‚ for instance‚ accused Ryan of peddling "junk science" and hating himself. Other activists‚ including Taneja College of Pharmacy assistant professor Kevin Astle‚ have accused the gay health reporter and former HIV test counselor of "transphobia." Rather than shy away from the fight‚ Ryan appears to have gone on a tear‚ overloading activists with indications that they have been pushing unethical pseudoscience. Unethical pseudoscience It has been a tough few weeks for LGBT activists‚ pharmaceutical reps‚ and sex-change surgeons. After all‚ the core claims underpinning their public support for genital mutilations and sterilizing puberty blockers have virtually all been debunked. Weeks after Finland's leading child psychiatrist Riittakerttu Kaltiala told her government that the vast majority of kids will grow out of the delusion that their gender and sex are misaligned‚ England's top health authority made a similar point. National Health Service England banned puberty blockers for minors Tuesday in all but experimental trials‚ highlighting a dearth of evidence to support their efficacy and the good possibility that "children who meet the criteria for gender incongruence / gender dysphoria ... may not continue to experience the conflict between their physical gender and the one with which they identify into adolescence and adulthood." NHS England also made clear that puberty blockers don't work as advertised‚ stating — on the basis of nine observational studies — "there was no statistically significant difference in gender dysphoria‚ mental health‚ body image and psychosocial functioning in children and adolescents treated with GnRHA." Rather than help‚ NHS England said puberty blockers "may reduce the expected increase in lumbar or femoral bone density during puberty." Last month‚ a Finnish study published in the esteemed quarterly journal BMJ Mental Health concluded that "medical gender reassignment does not have an impact on suicide risk." "All-cause and suicide mortalities did not differ between those gender referred who had and had not proceeded to [sex change surgeries] when psychiatric treatment history was accounted for‚" wrote the researchers. Not only has the "gender-affirming care" narrative been demolished by scientific authorities and research‚ but by its leading exponents. Leaked documents from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health‚ long regarded by activists as the authority on transgenderism‚ revealed that its members have been freewheeling when it comes to science and ethics. Members can be seen in the files admitting that minors cannot provide informed consent to the surgeries; that there are various debilitating side effects of sex-change procedures; and that various nightmarish procedures‚ all of which are elective‚ don't have a basis in nature.
