Veep Debate Was Media Narrative-Buster: Showing Substance, Vance Won

This time the oddsmakers got it wrong. Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was their betting favorite going into Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate, but Republican Sen. JD Vance of Ohio did the better job of talking to the American people on immigration, housing, and the economy. For months now, Big Media have put all their eggs in the “Vance is an extremist” basket. They beat the “childless cat lady” remark he made in 2021 into the ground, which is what they do. Too many in my profession think it’s their job to word-check Republicans, rather than look at the records of both administrations and how they affected American lives. >>>If you didn’t watch the debate live, see it here: Vance repeatedly talked about the effects of Biden-Harris administration policies—on housing prices, at the grocery store, and how an influx of migrants in Springfield, Ohio, has overwhelmed hospitals and public schools. Walz did his utmost to make the debate about Donald Trump‘s personality. Co-moderator Margaret Brennan of CBS News opened with a question about the war in the Middle East. She asked Walz, “If you are the final voice in the situation room, would you support or oppose a preemptive strike by Israel on Iran?” Walz misspoke when he talked about “the expansion of Israel and its proxies.” He meant to say Iran. Then he segued to Trump-bashing. Given the chaos in the Middle East, the world needs “steady leadership,” Walz argued, not “a nearly 80-year-old Donald Trump talking about crowd sizes.” Walz talked about former Trump aides who won’t endorse their erstwhile boss, while he offered that Vice President Kamala Harris offers “steady leadership” and “calmness.” I get it. Trump overpersonalizes his relations with U.S. allies and national security rivals. I cringe as I recall the then-president gushing over the “beautiful letters” he received from North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un. Don’t get me started on the Trump tweets. Vance’s response moved the issue from the reaction to Trump’s antics inside the Beltway to the results: “Donald Trump actually delivered stability in the world, and he did it by establishing effective deterrence. People were afraid of stepping out of line.” The Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel that left 1,200 dead? That happened after Trump left office. Iran attacked Israel under Biden-Harris. “When was the last time that an American president didn’t have a major conflict break out?” the GOP running mate asked. “The only answer is, during the four years that Donald Trump was president.” Vance’s worst moment occurred after CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell noted that all the nation’s governors certified the 2020 election results and sent a slate of electors to Congress on Jan. 6. O’Donnell noted that Vance recently said he would not have certified that election and instead would have asked states to submit alternate electors. Wrong answer. Trump lost. And since then, the price many Republican candidates have had to pay is to play along with his delusional claims about winning 2020 when they of all people know that he lost. (Last month, even Trump admitted he lost that election “by a whisker.” Within the week, Trump took it back.) Walz seized the moment. He recalled the toll on victims of the violence on Jan. 6, 2021, because of Trump’s bogus claim. Walz looked Vance in the eye when he asked, “Did he lose the 2020 election?” “Tim, I’m focused on the future,” Vance responded. “Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 COVID situation?” “That’s a damning nonanswer,” Walz countered. Agree. Besides, Walz was suggesting the future could include history repeating itself. As to Vance’s move-the-ball response, albeit to an important issue, the answer would be: Yes. Facebook cofounder Mark Zuckerberg admitted in a letter to the House Judiciary Committee that the Biden-Harris campaign and White House pressured the social-media giant to censor “certain COVID content, including humor and satire.” As Vance noted, trampling on Americans’ free speech rights is a danger to democracy. Walz just didn’t get it. He defended government censorship, saying, “You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded theater.” That tells you the Minnesota governor has no problems with Washington pressuring Big Media to stick to its frequently boneheaded narrative. That’s what Democrats do now. COPYRIGHT 2024 CREATORS.COM We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal. No, Tim Walz. Illegal aliens aren’t 'the least of these'

Tuesday’s debate was undoubtedly one of the best vice presidential performances America's ever seen — but not on the Democrats' end. “Defending Donald Trump’s policy proposals better than Donald Trump himself,” Allie Beth Stuckey says of Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, adding, “It was a master class. It was honestly beautiful.” While Stuckey notes that Walz “didn’t do bad,” he revealed some “serious weaknesses” in the debate. “The first weakness that I saw was actually at the very top of the debate in just his demeanor,” she says. “I immediately noticed how nervous he looked.” “This is going to be gross, and I don’t like to be gross, but he had this dry mouth spit thing going on, and I know this sounds superficial,” she continues, “This kind of thing actually, it matters. The optics matter. How someone looks actually matters onscreen. And I was like, 'If he’s got that spit thing going on the whole time, they’re going to lose the election.' No joke.” Walz also called himself a “knucklehead” who “talks a lot” when he was pressed on his lie that he attended the violent Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. And he then repeated another lie regarding immigration. “Walz repeated this lie that the Senate border bill that was put forward last year would have secured the border, and Donald Trump called up some friends in Congress and told them to vote against it,” Stuckey says. “That’s because it was an awful bill. That’s why Republicans voted against it. It didn’t actually secure the border,” she continues, noting that the bill “allowed 5,000 illegal crossings per day before closing the border.” “So, it basically said, you had to hit that threshold of 5,000 illegal crossings before they would secure the border at all,” Stuckey explains before recalling Walz’s claim that Jesus would have been pro-immigration. “I don’t talk about my faith a lot, but Matthew 25:40 talks about ‘to the least amongst us, you do unto me.’ I think that’s true of most Americans. They simply want order to it. This bill does it. It’s funded, it’s supported by the people who do it, and it lets us keep our dignity about how we treat other people,” Walz claimed on the debate stage. Stuckey couldn’t disagree more. “The bill doesn’t do that at all,” she says. “Also, that’s not what Jesus is talking about there, I promise you that when Jesus is referencing ‘the least of these,’ he’s not talking about the illegal aliens that were just arrested for raping minors in Nantucket.” “He’s not even talking about the world’s poor. He is talking about persecuted Christians,” she adds. Teen abducted from Dallas Mavericks game tells harrowing story of being sex-trafficked, raped — and how God saved her

The Texas teen who was abducted from a Dallas Mavericks game two years ago is sharing her harrowing story of how she was kidnapped, sex-trafficked, and raped as a warning to other teenagers. Natalee Cramer and her dad, Kyle Morris, went to a Mavericks basketball game at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on April 8, 2022. '... I'll never forgive you, and I wish the worst on you 100%.' Natalee — who was 15 years old at the time — said she started getting an "anxious feeling" and had "this craving for like getting high or getting drunk." She told her dad that she was going to the bathroom and left her cell phone in her seat. "I just walk around, and that's when I caught that guy's eye," Natalee recalled to WFAA-TV. "I told him, 'I'm just really looking to smoke. Do you smoke?'" The man told her that he did smoke and that he had some marijuana in his car. The man walked her to his car, parked in the garage of the arena. A second man appeared, and they put Natalee in the car. She said the men provided her with weed and drove her to a house in North Texas about 20 minutes from the arena. "It clicked for me that I was in danger when I was raped by them," Natalee explained. "I knew I was in danger by then, but I did not know how to leave because I was scared. I could have asked for the phone, but they would have been right there. What was I supposed to do? Even if I had run, where would I go? I didn't know where I was." The night Natalee disappeared, her father notified an officer with the Dallas Police Department who was working the game that his daughter had gone missing. The officer allegedly told Morris that he needed to report her as a runaway to the North Richland Hills Police Department — more than 30 miles from the American Airlines Center — because that's where they lived. When Morris contacted the North Richland Hills Police, he said they were unable to help because the incident occurred in Dallas. Three days after her disappearance, a bulletin for the missing teen was sent out by the Dallas Police Department with assistance from the North Richland Hills Police Department. Natalee previously had been reported as a runaway multiple times. “I was running for attention,” she said. “I was running for love. I was running for drugs. I was running from things that I couldn’t control … that I wasn’t able to speak up about.” She continued, "For me, a lot of it was my mental health. I wasn't in therapy. I was struggling with self-harm. I was struggling with friends. I was struggling with school. There were a lot of factors for why I ran. It doesn't have to be family issues. It can be anything." Natalee said she was held in North Texas for three days before being transported to Oklahoma and handed off to another group of people. 'I had braces at the time, and I was punched in the mouth by one of the guys. My whole cheek was just scratched. My braces were like inside my cheek.' She "was given alcohol and numerous narcotics, including methamphetamines," and the Texas suspect allegedly sold Natalee to an "unknown adult male who transported her" from Dallas to Oklahoma City, according to the complaint. The teen was being held captive at the Extended Stay America hotel at the Oklahoma City Airport. Natalee recalled seeing a family in a hotel hallway while she was under the influence of substances and adult men wielding rifles accompanied her. “I was more surprised to see a family with small children there, and they looked me in the eyes and could see that all of these people were older than me and still not say anything,” Natalee said. “The dad of these little children looked at me, and he couldn’t tell at the hotel. [The man who trafficked her] had a whole rifle by his side, and the family just walked on like nothing happened." As Blaze News previously reported, Natalee's family sued the companies that own and manage the hotel where she was trafficked. The lawsuit filed in February presented surveillance images of Natalee in the hallways of the hotel with the men. The suit claimed the employees either failed to recognize the signs of human trafficking or turned a blind eye and ignored it. "The Extended Stay America hotel in Oklahoma City put profits ahead of people by turning a blind eye to the sexual exploitation occurring right before their eyes," stated Zeke Fortenberry — the attorney representing the family. "This victim’s life will forever be changed. We hope to hold accountable those responsible and create change within these organizations so that this never happens to any other child." After going days without police locating their daughter, Natalee's parents sought help from a private investigator in Houston. The Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative agency found online sex ads featuring photos of Natalee and traced them to Oklahoma City — roughly 200 miles from where she was kidnapped. Natalee was starting to lose hope and asked for help from above. “I was just praying to God,” Natalee said. She said she told God, “‘I’m tired. I can’t do this any more. I need someone. Please send someone.'” Natalee also has a message for the people who abused her: 'I would say, "Thank you, because you made me who I am today. You made those things happen in my life that made me stronger, made me be more resilient."' On the same day she prayed to God, an Oklahoma City police officer noticed the teen walking outside an apartment complex. The officer asked her if she was Natalee Cramer. Natalee was rescued 11 horrific days after her abduction at the Dallas Mavericks game. “Being found, that was definitely God being like, ‘I’m not going to give up on you; I’m not going to let you die,'” Natalee said. Eight people were arrested and later sentenced for their role in Natalee's sex trafficking. In January 2023, U.S. Marshals arrested 33-year-old Emanuel Cartagena — the man who met Natalee at the arena and abducted her. Cartagena was charged with sexual assault of a child. Natalee and her family also believe the Dallas Police Department could have prevented her from being a victim of sex trafficking. "I think Dallas [police] did horrible, horrible," Natalee told KTVT-TV, adding that "my case is a perfect example of cops not doing their job. I was walking around outside when the game ended. When the game ended, everyone was rushing outside. They would have found me. They just didn't look at all. They would have found me." Cramer said there were three men in Dallas involved with sex trafficking her. The Dallas Police Department arrested a suspect in Natalee's case, but a Dallas County grand jury declined to issue an indictment, no-billing the case. "My first sex trafficking incident was with the people at the American Airlines Center. That is Dallas' deal," Natalee said. "That is their responsibility; that happened in their area. That's not Oklahoma's to deal with. I was [trafficked] by Dallas men. Dallas police needs to deal with it, not Oklahoma police." Natalee also has a message for the people who abused her: "I would say, 'Thank you, because you made me who I am today. You made those things happen in my life that made me stronger, made me be more resilient. But ... I'll never forgive you, and I wish the worst on you 100%. I wish the worst on you. But I thank you.'" Natalee also warned others about sex trafficking. “It’s not like a guy with candy in the back of his van and you just get thrown in the back of the van," she said. "It looks like a normal conversation until it’s not. You don’t know you’re in danger until you’re in the middle of it, and you don’t know what to do, and you can’t get out." Natalee — who is now 18 — said she is sober and pursuing her GED. Like Blaze News? Circumvent the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

'People worry about you': Draymond Green bizarrely questioned by journalist who insists his suspensions are a problem

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green faced a strange line of questioning from a reporter who insisted people are worried about him.During a press conference, a media member stepped up to the mic without introducing himself and asked, "Draymond, you know people worry about you? Fans, many of your teammates—"'I would have told them they're out of their mind!'"Why they worry about me?" Green interrupted. "I am a successful black man in America doing incredibly well.""They worry about you," the reporter continued."There are way more people in this world to worry about than me, that's for sure," Green continued from the podium."But we're here now," the reporter strangely stated. "We're all here; I don't think you should worry about me," Green replied. Most viewers interpreted the reporter's line of questioning as meaning fans and teammates are concerned with the 34-year-old missing games due to suspension.Last season, Green missed 17 games and lost $2.6 million in salary due to two suspensions from separate incidents. In December 2023, he missed 12 games after a flagrant foul when he swung his arm into a Phoenix Suns player's face. The month prior, he was suspended five games after an altercation with the Minnesota Timberwolves. With two more suspensions the year prior and six total in his career, Green has lost $3,223,073 in salary, according to Spotrac numbers.Despite this, he is a four-time NBA champion. The forward continued his exchange with the reporter and explained that if he knew as a child how successful he would become, he wouldn't imagine some one saying they should be worried about him."If someone told me, 'They're worried about you,' I would have told them they're out of their mind!" Green explained."[Fans] are worried for themselves, too. They know the team needs you," the reporter replied again."So why are they worried?" Green asked while smiling. "They don't feed their families doing this," the player said, interrupting the reporter's response."And you've been here every night?" the reporter said snidely.Green went on to defend himself, saying that suspension guidelines are in place because it is "a possibility." He added that many other of his teammates had missed games, and the fact his Warriors teammate Kevon Looney played a full season was celebrated."I think my mindset has helped us do some great things," Green concluded, before delivering one of his all-time greatest remarks."That's pretty cool. So it's all about how you spin it. I love how you're trying to spin it, but it ain't my spin to it, player."For reference, five-time NBA champion and known agitator Dennis Rodman was suspended 11 times throughout his career.Like Blaze News?
