Wife of Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse victim remembers father of three as always 'fighting for us'

The heartbreaking story of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland gets more tragic as the grieving wife of a victim reveals how wonderful a father he was. A 985-foot cargo ship crashed into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The collision caused most of the bridge to collapse into the frigid waters of the Patapsco River below. The tragic accident likely took the lives of six construction workers who are still missing days later despite rescue attempts. One of the victims is Jose Lopez – a father of three. Lopez was operating a concrete mixer truck early Tuesday morning when the cargo ship slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge.Isabel Franco‚ the wife of Lopez‚ expressed her sadness about losing her husband. Franco told WJZ-TV‚ "I feel bad. Only God knows how hard my heart aches. Maybe he was desperate‚ trying to escape."Knowing that her 35-year-old husband is likely gone forever‚ Franco still hopes to recover the body of her husband. "I feel bad a little bit still because I want the body‚" she said with tears rolling down her face. "His family is desperate to see him too."The couple had one child together‚ but he was a loving father to all three of her children."They are sad‚" she said in Spanish. "They loved Jose.""He had a good heart‚" Franco recalled. "He was a hard worker. He was always worried about his family too. He died but he was fighting for us always."Franco said her husband moved to the United States 19 years ago from Guatemala.Officials have categorized the collision as accidental. Eight people were working at the time when the container ship Dali crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Two were rescued. Two bodies were recovered from the crash site in a red pickup truck on Wednesday. Six construction workers are still missing‚ and the search has transitioned to a recovery mission at this time as they are presumed dead. The other crash victims are Miguel Luna originally from El Salvador‚ 26-year-old Dorlian Cabrera from Guatemala‚ 35-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes from Mexico‚ 34-year-old Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval from Honduras‚ and a man from Mexico whose identity has not been released as of yet. Maynor is survived by his wife and two children ages 17 and 5.His brother‚ Martín Suazo Sandoval‚ said Maynor had a strong work ethic. "He always told us that you had to triple your effort to get ahead‚" the brother explained. "He said it didn’t matter what time or where the job was‚ you had to be where the work was."Like Blaze News? American arrested in Dominican Republic‚ accused of murdering 3 Honduran women after going out with them

The authorities in Honduras recently announced that American citizen Gilbert Reyes Bermudez was arrested in the Dominican Republic for reportedly murdering three women in Roatan‚ a Honduran island. The Tico Times reported that Honduras has the highest rate of femicide in Latin America and the fifth highest in the world. A separate report noted that an estimated 45‚000 women and girls worldwide were murdered by their intimate partners or family members in 2021.The 36-year-old American suspect has been accused of killing María Antonia Cruz‚ Nikendra McCoy‚ and Dione Solórzano after going out with them on January 6‚ according to Fox News Digital. The next day‚ Bermudez was accused of getting out of Honduras and the three women were reported missing. The bodies of the women were discovered with gunshot wounds in a vehicle three days later. Reports mentioned that one of the victims‚ Solórzano‚ was one of Bermudez's ex-partners.The authorities reportedly seized $205 and 600 pesos in cash from Bermudez. They also took his American passport‚ two cell phones‚ and other personal items including glasses‚ keys‚ and a wallet. The items were reportedly held by OCN-Interpol Santo Domingo. The extradition process to get Bermudez back into the U.S. has already begun‚ according to the National Police of Honduras. Reports noted that crime scene evidence and witness testimony will be used against Bermudez in the case. The Tico Times reported that the president of the Supreme Court of Justice‚ Rebeca Raquel Obando‚ has ensured the public that this crime will not go unpunished. Her statement comes as the public is generally pessimistic about the murder of women in the country given that 95 percent of femicides go unpunished. The report added:The statistics paint a grim picture of the reality faced by women in Honduras. In 2023 alone‚ the country recorded 380 femicides‚ a significant increase from the 308 cases reported in 2022. UN Women data ranks Honduras as the country with the fifth highest rate of femicides globally‚ with 6.47 cases per 100‚000 women‚ making it the most dangerous country in Latin America for women. As the case against Bermudez continues to unfold‚ the authorities hope that justice will be served and it will be a wake-up call to address the issue of violence against women throughout the country. 'Free Palestine!': Pro-Palestinian protesters crash Easter Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral

Pro-Palestinian protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza interrupted Easter Mass on Saturday at St. Patrick's Cathedral. They were heard chanting‚ "Free‚ free Palestine‚" before being removed from the service‚ according to the New York Post. The report mentioned that thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators congregated in Times Square earlier on Saturday before heading to the Easter Vigil service at St. Patrick's Cathedral. They started chanting "Free‚ free Palestine" during the second reading of the service. Some of the demonstrators who took part in the protest were reportedly associated with Extinction Rebellion NYC's Palestinian Solidarity group and carried around a flag with an olive tree and the words "SILENCE = DEATH" scrawled across it‚ per the report.Fox News Digital reported that millions all over the world gathered on Saturday to protest the Israel-Hamas war that has primarily played out in Gaza. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops reportedly issued a call for prayer for peace in the Middle East. “As the Church enters Holy Week and Christ’s suffering on the cross and his resurrection are made present to us so vividly‚ we are connected to the very source of hope‚” the statement said.“Thousands of innocent people have died in this conflict‚ and thousands more have been displaced and face tremendous suffering‚” the statement continued.“This must stop.” — (@) In the video of the disruption‚ many in the congregation can be seen sitting still‚ not reacting to the disruptive group. The mass was led by Cardinal Timothy Dolan‚ the Archbishop of New York. However‚ many people online took exception to the disruptive behavior of the pro-Palestinian demonstrators‚ with one writing on X: "Evil‚ wrong‚ AND uniformed. Thank you for reminding us your cause isn’t hated enough."Another wrote: "At an Easter service no less… the blatant bigotry on display."And a third wrote: "Climate” protestors. One of them pulled out a keffiyeh and shook it in the face of Christians worshipping on the holiest of holy days on the Christian calendar. But sure‚ 'climate' protestors."It is not certain why the climate protesters targeted St. Patrick's Cathedral on Saturday. One protester involved in the debacle‚ only identified as Matthew M.‚ said he believed churches calling for an end to the war in Gaza could "make a difference‚" according to the Daily Mail."The United Nations Security Council calling for a ceasefire is a good start‚ but churches making ceasefire statements is also a part of the solution‚" Matthew said.Like Blaze News? Dragon's Dogma 2 Camping Kits Are Confusing Players

Camping is a great idea in Dragon's Dogma 2. Not only does it replenish your ever-diminishing max HP as it gets whittled down from all the fights you're bound to get into‚ but it also lets you skip past all those hard-to-see-in nighttime hours and gives you that oh-so-satisfying animation of a properly grilled beast steak or scrag.

The Marvel GamerVerse Looks Way More Exciting Than The Tired MCU

Comic book fans of a Marvel persuasion have been spoiled rotten over the the last decade. Alongside the regular slew of new comic runs from esteemed writers and artists like Chip Zdarsky and Dan Mora‚ the Marvel Cinematic Universe has reigned supreme on the silver screen against competing empire DC‚ until the studio bit off more than it could chew. Opting to churn out an influx of Disney Plus shows and double the number of movies on its schedule during Phase 4‚ this surplus resulted in an underwhelming Phase 5 debut last year with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Starfield Player May Have Stumbled Upon A Salad Fingers Reference

Bethesda is well known for dropiing little Easter eggs into its games‚ and Starfield is no exception. With a huge initial player base that's dwindled significantly since launch‚ a lot of these Easter eggs were gobbled up by players and regurgitated all over the internet in the game's opening weeks. Yet six months out‚ players still seem to be finding undiscovered references in the game.
