Dem Nightmare: Massive Protest Takes Over Downtown Chicago Just Before DNC Begins

The clown show inside Chicago's United Center, site of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, runs from Monday through Thursday. But the other clown show -- the one taking place in the streets outside -- began Sunday and will continue into the early part of the week, testing ordinary Chicago residents'...

Hilarious Bird Delights With Song and Dance Performance

A hilarious bird has a song and dance performance that absolutely delights. As the parrot named Auggie sits on her owner’s shoulder, she speaks in bird language, "Bacon pancakes." The woman asks her, "Do you want to do bacon pancakes?" The bird responds again with the same words. The owner agrees. She starts singing, "Bacon pancakes makin' bacon pancakes, bacon pancakes, makin' bacon pancakes." RELATED: Bird Lands on Reporter's Head and Startles Her Moments Before Going on Air The bird dances perfectly on cue to the rhythm. It is astounding. Then, the bird sings the same song back and dances side to side. It is hilariously precious to witness this small bird sing and dance on her owner's shoulder. Hilarious Bird Delights with Song and Dance Parrots are extremely intelligent and comical. It is fun to get a glimpse into the world of a parrot owner. Watching this bird reminds us of God's creativity and sovereign design. He thought up giving life to every living creature. He had Adam name the animals. Even as we see the intelligence and the fun of Auggie the parrot, it causes us to give glory to God for being such an awesome Creator. RELATED: Flock Of Wild Lorikeet Birds Broke Into Couple's Home And Now They Visit Every Day Auggie also reminds us that we can do a lot of wonderful things if we practice and remain faithful to them. This bird has spent time learning how to communicate, dance, and sing. Her owner has worked with her. We, too, know that our God helps to train us in the ways that we should go and leads us down His best paths for our lives. "So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." Community Shows Outpouring of Love After 7-Year-Old’s Horrible Tragedy

A community came together with an outpouring of love for a 7-year-old girl who had experienced a horrible tragedy. Unfortunately, we will all experience awful situations and circumstances that cause extreme grief, pain and sorrow. Sadly, those moments are inevitable and inescapable in this life. Many have likely already gone through something similar and are intimately familiar with the hurt and heartache associated with those moments. RELATED: Unexpected Act of Kindness from 4-Year Old, Changed An Elderly Man's Life It's essential to have a group of people around you to help you through and be a shoulder to cry on when those moments arrive. The only thing worse than experiencing and going through deep, intense emotional pain is doing it while feeling all alone. For that reason, a community's response to a 7-year-old girl is so touching and moving. Community Shows Outpouring of Love Following 7-Year-Old’s Tragedy Emouree Johnson, 7 years old, went through what is likely the worst thing a child can experience. She woke up one morning to learn that her mother had passed away. To make matters worse, when Emouree visited her mother's burial site, her mother did not have a gravestone. So, Emouree set out to fix that and started a lemonade stand to raise money to buy her mom a gravestone. RELATED: Elderly Woman Living All Alone Pens Note to Neighbors That Shows the Power of Kindness At first, the young woman did not tell anyone what the proceeds were going toward. She just started selling cups of that delicious, cold beverage for $1 apiece. But word about Emouree's sweet and touching efforts quickly got out, and people responded in a big way. "The most that we got for one cup of lemonade was $300 bucks," Emouree said. However, she can keep all that money and put it in savings because a local monument company has generously and lovingly agreed to donate a gravestone. What a sad but beautiful story of a community coming together to show a little girl that she is loved and that other people do care. 1 John 4:8 "He who has no love has no knowledge of God, because God is love." World Economic Forum Says Look Out For ‘Era Of Shock Events’ – Including Cyber Pandemic

The World Economic Forum (WEF) released a report Monday titled, “4 global risks to look out for in the post-pandemic era.” According to the international organization, one of the global risks is “an era of shock events.” “Make no mistake – the US-driven post-Cold War era ended a while ago (and realistically America’s 2024 election won’t change this). Enduring global leadership, democratic ideals, globalization and liberal values have all been notably challenged and superpowers are overstretched,” Maha Hosain Aziz, a New York University professor and WEF ‘risk expert,’ wrote. “This is a global legitimacy crisis as argued in my book and our past crowdsourced research since 2017. This period of muddling through means anything can happen in our post-pandemic era. Look for global risks to be further exacerbated by unexpected, destabilizing shock events,” Hosain Aziz continued. Hosain Aziz cited a new global extremist group, possibly leveraging AI tools, a cyber pandemic, and climate change as the “three shock events to consider.” “Perhaps the most concerning line in the article is in reference to intentional cybersecurity attacks,” Steve Bannon’s War Room co-host Natalie Winters noted. “Look for global risks to be further exacerbated by unexpected, destabilizing shock events,” warned WEF. Perhaps the most concerning line in the article is in reference to intentional cybersecurity attacks. pic.twitter.com/mVwl6JiOdB — Natalie Winters (@nataliegwinters) August 19, 2024 From the WEF: Briefly, here are three shock events to consider that may impact global stability: 1. A new global extremist group emerges: with the world distracted with multiple major wars and leadership in decline, this could be an opportunistic time for a new extremist group to make its mark – and maybe not face as many consequences. Perhaps, it will even leverage AI tools to kick off a new phase of terrorism. 2. A cyber pandemic – that is intentional: the massive global IT outage in July was not terrorism, but simply a faulty software update from a cybersecurity firm. Yet, it cost Fortune 500 companies $5.4 billion in damages and shut down flights, banks, hospitals, retailers and other services worldwide. Imagine if a bad actor did this – on purpose and an even grander scale? 3. Climate change claims its first island nation in the post-pandemic era: The COP28 plan to phase out fossil fuels may take decades and it’s unclear if world leaders will follow through. What’s more probable is that in the meantime certain island nations (who emit only 0.3% of global emissions) will keep fighting their cause, whether it is through international law or new climate funds. But, if these islands do succumb to climate change, sinking a lot faster than we expect, how will climate activists and world leaders react? WEF warns ‘era of shock events’ is coming including AI terrorism. (They are telling you what they are going to do) https://t.co/RrSAtfm1Xt — Dr. Jake Baker (@DrJakeBaker) August 19, 2024 Last month, a software update glitch impacting cybersecurity company CrowdStrike caused information technology havoc across multiple industries. Worldwide Cyber Outage Causes IT Chaos, Thousands Of Flights Grounded International airlines, banks, media outlets, and medical facilities are among the industries affected by the software update gone wrong. CrowdStrike said it was “not a security incident or cyberattack.” WATCH: JUST IN - Global cyber outage. From the Associated Press: Long lines formed at airports in the U.S., Europe and Asia as airlines lost access to check-in and booking services at a time when many travelers are heading away on summer vacations. Hospitals and doctors’ offices had problems with their appointment systems, and cancelled non-urgent surgeries. Several TV stations in the U.S. were also prevented from airing local news early Friday. Saskia Oettinghaus, a member of the German Olympic diving team, was among those stuck at the Berlin Airport. “We are on our way to Paris for the Olympic Games and now we are at a standstill here for the time being,” Oettinghaus said. Other athletes and spectators traveling to Paris were delayed, as were their uniforms and accreditations, but Games organizers said disruptions were limited and didn’t affect ticketing or the torch relay. “This is a very, very uncomfortable illustration of the fragility of the world’s core internet infrastructure,” said Ciaran Martin, a professor at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government and former Head of Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre. Cyber expert James Bore said real harm would be caused by the outage because systems people have come to rely on at critical times are not going to be available. Hospitals, for example, will struggle to sort out appointments and those who need care may not get it — and it will lead to deaths, he said. This is reportedly one of the biggest Cyber Outages in history. pic.twitter.com/eifN0Z1T5z — Cinema Shogun (@CinemaShogun) July 19, 2024 As a reminder, the World Economic Forum has warned about the devastating impact of a worldwide cyberattack. The company’s next-generation endpoint protection platform, CrowdStrike Falcon®, identifies and thwarts nation-state and organized criminal adversaries, saving its customers millions of dollars in potential damage and preventing the theft of valuable assets and personally identifiable information (PII). “Being the first endpoint protection company recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer is an incredible honor and a true testament to the innovation and impact of our CrowdStrike Falcon® platform and our record-breaking customer acquisition and corporate growth,” said Dmitri Alperovitch, co-founder and chief technology officer of CrowdStrike. “Every day, we detect, prevent, and thwart cyber attacks across some of the largest and most targeted organizations worldwide, protecting intellectual property, guarding innovation, economic growth, and fair business practices.” “We’re glad to see CrowdStrike make it to the selection,” said Fulvia Montresor, head of Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum. “CrowdStrike is part of a group of entrepreneurs who are more aware of the crucial challenges of the world around them, and who are determined to do their part to solve those challenges with their company.” The Technology Pioneers were selected from among hundreds of applicants by a selection committee of 68 academics, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and corporate executives. The committee based its decisions on criteria including innovation, potential impact, working prototype, viability and leadership. General Motors Announces Layoffs For Over 1,000 Employees

General Motors announced Monday it would lay off over 1,000 salaried employees in its software and services division. “The layoffs include roughly 600 jobs at General Motors’ tech campus near Detroit,” CNBC reports. “As we build GM’s future, we must simplify for speed and excellence, make bold choices, and prioritize the investments that will have the greatest impact,” a GM spokesman said in a statement, according to CNBC. “As a result, we’re reducing certain teams within the Software and Services organization. We are grateful to those who helped establish a strong foundation that positions GM to lead moving forward,” the statement added. Impacted employees were notified Monday morning. The layoffs represent about 1.3% of the company’s global salaried workforce of 76,000 as of the end of last year. That included about 53,000 U.S. salaried employees. The cuts come as automakers attempt to reduce costs and, in many instances, employee headcount amid fears of an industry downturn — and as they’re spending billions of dollars on emerging markets such as all-electric vehicles and so-called “software-defined vehicles.” GENERAL MOTORS LAYS OFF OVER 1,000 SALARIED EMPLOYEES IN SOFTWARE AND SERVICE UNITS The cuts, which include around 600 jobs at GM's tech campus near Detroit, are part of the company's efforts to "simplify for speed and excellence" and prioritize impactful investments as it… pic.twitter.com/Z5wioKg6dh — Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal) August 19, 2024 Reuters noted: In April 2023, GM said about 5,000 of its salaried workers took buyouts to leave the company as it worked to hit a $2 billion cost-cutting target after it cut hundreds of executive-level and salaried jobs in February 2023. In December 2023, GM announced plans to lay off approximately 1,300 workers at two plants in Michigan. From Automotive Dive: General Motors is laying off 1,314 workers at two plants in Michigan, according to two notices filed with the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity in Michigan. The layoffs included 945 workers at GM’s Orion Assembly facility and 369 at the automaker’s Lansing Grand River Assembly/Stamping plant. The layoffs come six weeks after GM agreed with the United Auto Workers union on a new labor contract that includes 25% wage hikes over the next four and a half years and the ability to strike against plant closures.
