She told us that she had been praying for a dog like him and that we were the answer to her prayers,” Amy shares. What a happy ending for this sweet pup. Chicago Police and the FBI are investigating an incident where maggots were allegedly placed into a breakfast served to delegates attending the Democratic National Convention. “Chicago police officers and Illinois state troopers gathered in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel near meeting rooms,” WGN-TV wrote. FBI-Chicago is assisting with the investigation. It’s believed activists possibly brought maggots into the hotel. It also unfolded as U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was preparing to address delegates at the luxury hotel. As a buffet-style breakfast was being served in a meeting room, DNC officials confirmed that multiple unknown female suspects entered the hotel and placed “unknown objects” into the food before leaving the area. Dave Crooks, a former member of the Indiana House of Representatives and current Indiana 8th District Democratic Party chairman, said the unsettling disruption initially went largely unnoticed. “Didn’t even see any issues. I just went and grabbed my plate, got my coffee and then 30 minutes later, when the State Chairman Michael Schmuhl introduced Pete Buttigieg, he at least informed us that apparently sometime right around 7, when the food was actually laid out, some protesters showed up and apparently they dumped maggots all over the food,” said Crooks. “The hotel staff did an incredible job, it was removed, everything was cleaned, and they prepared new food.” Crooks said no one consumed any of the maggot-filled food. Target CEO Brian Cornell slammed claims by Democrat presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday that retailers were hurting consumers by engaging in price gouging. Harris said last week that her plan to combat inflation that skyrocketed during the Biden-Harris administration was to implement price controls, which most economists oppose. Cornell was asked during an interview on CNBC: “Have you boosted any of your profits from gouging on prices? And how prevalent and pervasive do you think that was in terms of causing the recent 40-year highs in inflation? The 20-year-old man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, used encrypted messaging accounts on platforms in multiple foreign countries, according to Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL). Waltz, who is on the Congressional task force investigating the assassination attempt, told reporters in Chicago on Wednesday that it has not “learned that much” about Thomas Matthew Crooks’ encrypted messaging accounts, but he did reveal that they discovered the accounts were based on platforms in Belgium, Germany, and New Zealand, which the congressman described as strange, The New York Post reported. Encrypted messaging apps allow for text messages to be sent through an encrypted code that can only be deciphered by the recipient’s device. “Why does a 19-year-old kid who is a health care aide need encrypted platforms not even based in the United States, but based abroad, where most terrorist organizations know it is harder for our law enforcement to get into? That’s a question I’ve had since day one,” Waltz told reporters at the Trump Hotel in downtown Chicago. Waltz, a retired Green Beret, then ripped the FBI and Secret Service for not releasing more information from the investigations into the attempted assassination. The Biden administration reportedly told the Trump campaign and Secret Service of the alleged plot, but the troubling intelligence info raised new concerns about the security breakdown at Trump’s rally.
