Approximately 50,000 fans attended the inaugural Golden Gate Park Concerts last Saturday, (August 17th) in San Francisco. The concerts aim to make the City By The Bay a music destination. The show marked System Of A Down’s second live appearance this year following the Sick New World festival last April in Las Vegas. Deftones and a reunited The Mars Volta were also on the bill. A hilarious bird has a song and dance performance that absolutely delights. As the parrot named Auggie sits on her owner’s shoulder, she speaks in bird language, "Bacon pancakes." The woman asks her, "Do you want to do bacon pancakes?" The bird responds again with the same words. The owner agrees. She starts singing, "Bacon pancakes makin' bacon pancakes, bacon pancakes, makin' bacon pancakes." Then, the bird sings the same song back and dances side to side. It is hilariously precious to witness this small bird sing and dance on her owner's shoulder. Watching this bird reminds us of God's creativity and sovereign design. He thought up giving life to every living creature. He had Adam name the animals. Even as we see the intelligence and the fun of Auggie the parrot, it causes us to give glory to God for being such an awesome Creator. This bird has spent time learning how to communicate, dance, and sing. Her owner has worked with her. We, too, know that our God helps to train us in the ways that we should go and leads us down His best paths for our lives. A community came together with an outpouring of love for a 7-year-old girl who had experienced a horrible tragedy. Unfortunately, we will all experience awful situations and circumstances that cause extreme grief, pain and sorrow. Sadly, those moments are inevitable and inescapable in this life. Many have likely already gone through something similar and are intimately familiar with the hurt and heartache associated with those moments. The only thing worse than experiencing and going through deep, intense emotional pain is doing it while feeling all alone. For that reason, a community's response to a 7-year-old girl is so touching and moving. Community Shows Outpouring of Love Following 7-Year-Old’s Tragedy Emouree Johnson, 7 years old, went through what is likely the worst thing a child can experience. She woke up one morning to learn that her mother had passed away. To make matters worse, when Emouree visited her mother's burial site, her mother did not have a gravestone. So, Emouree set out to fix that and started a lemonade stand to raise money to buy her mom a gravestone. She just started selling cups of that delicious, cold beverage for $1 apiece. But word about Emouree's sweet and touching efforts quickly got out, and people responded in a big way. "The most that we got for one cup of lemonade was $300 bucks," Emouree said. However, she can keep all that money and put it in savings because a local monument company has generously and lovingly agreed to donate a gravestone.
