NPR punishes editor after he exposed company's left-wing bias in viral essay: 'Lost America's trust'

NPR is punishing senior editor Uri Berliner for exposing the outlet's left-wing bias.Last week‚ Berliner sent shockwaves through the media with an essay in the Free Press highlighting what he believes is NPR's liberal transformation. According to Berliner‚ NPR has &;quot;lost America's trust&;quot; because NPR has embraced a &;quot;progressive worldview.&;quot; The essay was especially powerful because Berliner has worked at NPR for 25 years‚ and thus he has witnessed first-hand the outlet's leftward drift. As evidence to back his perspective‚ Berliner pointed to NPR's coverage of the alleged Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy‚ its handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story‚ its coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic‚ NPR's internal focus on race and identity‚ and the lack of viewpoint diversity among NPR's staff.NPR executives initially pushed back on Berliner's criticisms. &;quot;I and my colleagues on the leadership team strongly disagree with Uri’s assessment of the quality of our journalism and the integrity of our newsroom processes‚&;quot; said chief content officer Edith Chapin. &;quot; We believe that inclusion-among our staff‚ with our sourcing‚ and in our overall coverage-is critical to telling the nuanced stories of this country and our world.&;quot; On Tuesday‚ NPR itself revealed that leadership had disciplined Berliner.Despite his years of service with the company‚ Berliner was suspended without pay for five days beginning last Friday. The violation&;#63; Berliner did not comply with company policy requiring staffers to receive prior approval before submitting work to outside publications. The formal rebuke said it was his &;quot;final warning&;quot; and threatened termination if he violates the policy again.Important to this story is Berliner's contention that he tried to address his concerns about NPR's ideological problems with executives before writing about them publicly. Clearly‚ his concerns went unheard.Still‚ Berliner loves the place where he works. That's why he's passionate about its integrity.&;quot;I love NPR and feel it's a national trust‚&;quot; Berliner told NPR. &;quot; We have great journalists here. If they shed their opinions and did the great journalism they're capable of‚ this would be a much more interesting and fulfilling organization for our listeners.&;quot; In the wake of Berliner's essay‚ NPR announced monthly reviews of its coverage. What will come of those reviews‚ if anything‚ remains to be seen.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Catholic school gushes over meeting with pro-abortion‚ lesbian governor: Our 'personal values are closely aligned'

An elite Catholic prep school in Massachusetts gave a glowing summary of a recent visit from Democrat Gov. Maura Healey‚ who openly promotes abortion and LGBTQ+ issues in defiance of Catholic teaching. On April 9‚ Healey made her first visit to St. John's Prep‚ an all-boys‚ 6-12 grade school in the Boston area sponsored by the Catholic religious group the Xaverian Brothers‚ named after St. Francis Xavier. There‚ the governor spent almost an hour engaging with five student groups. The school and its leadership could not have been more pleased with the event as evidenced by the write-up about it posted to the school's website. &;quot; We’re really excited to have the opportunity to engage with you and to learn from you‚&;quot; Head of School Ed Hardiman told Healey. &;quot; The students here today are all involved in different leadership programs and one of our big areas of focus this year is civil discourse‚ so we’re thankful that you’ve come to campus to share your time with us.&;quot; Here are just a handful of other excerpts from the article: &;quot; While the words 'authentic' and 'genuine' have been overused to the point of losing their meaning in popular vernacular‚ the level of sincerity‚ honesty‚ and earnestness that punctuated Healey’s interaction with students was palpable.&;quot;&;quot; She was vulnerable‚ she was personal‚ she readily owned her flaws‚ and she assured her young audience that no one person can have all the answers.&;quot;&;quot;Healey said an unwavering defense of the Constitution and the preservation of democracy are the linchpin to securing our future.&;quot; The write-up also claimed that &;quot;it was quickly clear [Healey's] personal values are closely aligned with those of the Xaverian Brothers&;quot; but did not specify what those shared &;quot;personal values&;quot; might be. When asked about her core values‚ Healey mentioned &;quot;humility‚ kindness‚ and honesty‚&;quot; the article said. She also invited students to denounce &;quot;hate&;quot; whenever they see it and insisted that &;quot;there's no room&;quot; in society for racism‚ anti-Semitism‚ Islamophobia‚ or homophobia. Whether she defined any of those terms is unclear‚ but chances are that Healey‚ who has a live-in lesbian partner‚ might consider some of Catholic teaching regarding homosexual acts to be homophobic. The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls homosexual acts &;quot;intrinsically disordered&;quot; and claims they are: contrary to natural law‚ incapable of generating new life‚ and fail to &;quot;proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity.&;quot; Therefore‚ the Catechism claims‚ such acts can never be approved under any circumstances.Healey's views on abortion also stand in stark contrast to the Catholic Church's view that abortion &;quot;is gravely contrary to the moral law.&;quot; &;quot;Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception‚&;quot; the Catechism avers.Healey‚ by contrast‚ bragged two years ago that Massachusetts &;quot;enshrined&;quot; abortion into law as a state &;quot;constitutional right.&;quot; &;quot; You can respect religious freedom‚ you can respect an individual’s decision to make a decision for him or herself for what they want to do‚&;quot; she said at the time. &;quot; But in this country we also have certain freedoms‚ and we have to be a place that recognizes and respects the freedom of a woman to make a decision about her own body by herself.&;quot; It does not appear that the governor and the students even discussed God or basic Christian precepts during their meeting. The summary from St. John's notes only that her visit was facilitated by Father Jim Ronan‚ Healey's &;quot;Charlestown parish priest‚ friend‚ spiritual guide‚ and mentor.&;quot; Otherwise‚ it makes no direct or indirect reference to God‚ Jesus Christ‚ the Catholic Church‚ or any other form of Christianity. The school's apparent agreement with many of Healey's statements during the meeting and perhaps even some of her political positions have raised the ire of faithful Catholics in the area. One group‚ the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts‚ slammed the school for celebrating &;quot;the Bay State’s pro-abortion‚ lesbian chief executive.&;quot; In a statement given to Blaze News‚ Catholic Action League Executive Director C.J. Doyle called the meeting at St. John's &;quot;a grave scandal and a monstrous betrayal.&;quot; &;quot; It tells us that the Church in Massachusetts would rather serve Caesar than Christ‚ and that it prefers the favor of worldly powers over the lives of the innocent unborn‚&;quot; he said.St. John's Head of School Ed Hardiman did not respond to Blaze News' request for comment.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. WATCH: Joe Rogan grins ear to ear when Brazilian UFC champ gives Americans some advice: 'If you care about your f***ing country ...'

Last weekend‚ UFC 300 drew in millions of fans eager to see the best fighters in the world face off in the Vegas octagon. While there were several memorable moments over the course of the event‚ one of the most unforgettable was Brazilian lightweight champion Renato Moicano’s post-fight speech. After his big win against Jalin Turner‚ the fighter practically snatched the microphone from Joe Rogan‚ yelling: “First of all‚ I love America&;#33; I love the Constitution&;#33; I love the First Amendment&;#33; ... Let me tell you something: If you care about your f***ing country‚ read Ludwig von Mises’ lessons and the six lessons of the Austrian Economic School‚ motherf*****s&;#33;&;quot; For those unfamiliar with Ludwig von Mises‚ he was an Austrian-American economist‚ historian‚ logician‚ and sociologist who championed free-market capitalism and vehemently denounced socialism. The entire time the mic was in Moicano’s hands‚ Rogan — who’s become a prominent political voice — can be seen grinning ear to ear. Dave Rubin certainly shares Rogan’s sentiments. “This is the America I want to live in‚” he says‚ agreeing with Moicano’s speech. “We have got to save this freaking country.” To watch the footage of Moicano’s epic hype speech‚ watch the clip below. New York ballot initiative could allow kids to get sex changes without parental consent‚ say critics

New York Democrats and other radicals have advanced a ballot initiative that may ultimately pit the state's bill of rights against conservatives‚ religious residents‚ and others opposed to gender ideology and abortion. The presently &;quot;vague&;quot; wording of the proposed New York Equal Protection of Law Amendment (ERA)‚ championed by Planned Parenthood and various other leftist organizations‚ has some critics worried that there may be ruinous consequences besides the codification of abortion in the state constitution. Just the News noted that some opponents have expressed concerns that the ERA might enable children to get sex changes without parental consent and altogether weaken laws that presently protect children. The initiative The ERA‚ introduced and ultimately passed by Democrats in both chambers of the state legislature over the course of the past two years‚ would alter Article 1‚ Section 11 of the New York Constitution‚ which presently states that no person shall be subjected to any discrimination in his or her civil rights by any other person‚ firm‚ corporation‚ institution‚ or by the state on the basis of race‚ color‚ creed‚ or religion. This effort would add that New Yorkers — now to be conferred plural pronouns contra &;quot;his or her&;quot; — cannot be discriminated against on the basis of ethnicity‚ national origin‚ age‚ disability‚ sex‚ sexual orientation‚ &;quot;gender identity‚&;quot; &;quot;gender expression‚&;quot; pregnancy‚ pregnancy outcomes‚ and reproductive health care and autonomy. The supporters The ERA has been championed by various leftists‚ LGBT organizations‚ and pro-abortion outfits. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.)‚ another supporter of the ERA‚ framed the initiative last year as a way of helping Democrats secure and hold onto power. &;quot;Having a ballot initiative in our state is going to drive voter turnout overall‚ which will definitely help Democrats‚&;quot; Gillibrand told the New York Times. &;quot; The biggest reason we lost House seats was because of voter turnout.&;quot; New Yorkers for Equal Rights‚ the ballot initiative committee hyping the ERA‚ has indicated that this amendment would prevent future democratically elected officials from passing an abortion ban in the already pro-abortion state; cutting off abortion funding via Medicaid; and banning private insurance coverage of abortion. The group made abundantly clear that this is a matter of preventing future voters from changing tack on the issue of abortion‚ citing former Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin's unexpectedly close gubernatorial race in 2022 as evidence of how &;quot;political winds shift.&;quot; Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is apparently of a similar mind‚ having emphasized that laws can be repealed but there is &;quot;a much higher threshold to change the Constitution.&;quot; New Yorkers for Equal Rights suggested that besides precluding New Yorkers from changing their mind about having virtually unlimited abortion in the state‚ the ERA may also help &;quot;win back the right to abortion nationally.&;quot; The group also intimated that the amendments would hinder efforts to keep LGBT propaganda out of the classroom. According to Planned Parenthood of Greater New York‚ &;quot; The ERA is an important step toward protecting reproductive rights and access in New York following the U.S. Supreme Court's wrongful decision to end the federal constitutional right to abortion‚ established by Roe v. Wade.&;quot; The opposition The Coalition to Protect Kids has implored New Yorkers to vote &;quot;no&;quot; on the ERA on Nov. 5‚ noting that the state already has an equal rights amendment. &;quot; This new wording might appear innocuous to the casual reader‚&;quot; the CPK states on its website. &;quot; But once we understand the real-life‚ legal ramifications of this poorly written one-size-fits-all amendment‚ you'll quickly understand just how absurd it is.&;quot; CPK suggested that the ERA could prove devastating for parental rights and weaken laws protecting minors from sexual abuse. &;quot; If entities cannot 'discriminate' based on age and gender identity or expression‚ under the new amendment language‚ medical providers could be required to facilitate a child's request to make permanent‚ life-altering 'gender affirming' decisions and they would not need to consult with parents‚&;quot; wrote the CPK. The number of children identifying as &;quot;transgender&;quot; has exploded in recent years. The vast majority of kids will outgrow this confusion. However‚ if parents can no longer serve as a check against the whims of their kids‚ which ideologues and profit-incentivized medical professionals otherwise play on‚ then the ERA may serve to greatly benefit the sex change regime. CPK noted further that &;quot;laws that determine the legal age to purchase and/or consume alcohol or cannabis‚ determine elder abuse and statutory rape could all be weakened because they 'discriminate' based on age.&;quot; Spectrum News 1 reported that some Republicans have voiced concerns about how this may impact the rights of religious New Yorkers. &;quot; Those of us who take our faith and our religion very seriously are very concerned about lawsuits against the church or against a certain faith or religion‚&;quot; said Republican Assemblyman Chris Tague. &;quot;Unfortunately‚ like so many pieces of legislation‚ it goes too far‚&;quot; said state Sen. George Borrello (R). &;quot; It's very vague‚ it's very broad. In the end‚ my biggest concern is it will codify late-term abortions into the New York state constitution.&;quot; Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright appeared to confirm Borrello's suspicion when Democrats advanced the initiative in the legislature last year‚ stating‚ &;quot; We are closer than ever to enshrining a woman's right to choose and equality protections against discriminations in the most important governing document of our state.&;quot; Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
