A man was arrested after he allegedly stripped naked in the women';s locker room at a Planet Fitness gym in North Carolina and refused to leave even though a child was likely present.Last Thursday‚ Christopher Allan Miller‚ a 38-year-old man sporting a beard‚ reportedly created quite a disturbance at a Planet Fitness in Gastonia‚ North Carolina‚ a city of 80‚000 residents about a half-hour west of Charlotte. A woman inside the women';s locker room there called 911 to report that Miller was allegedly ";walking around‚ showing us his penis‚ and he won';t leave.";She likewise told the dispatcher that the man claimed to be transgender: ";It';s a man‚ but he says he identifies as a woman."; She also reiterated that Miller was ";completely naked‚"; wearing ";literally nothing.";Other reports indicate that Miller also engaged in harassment‚ asking a woman to shower with him and petitioning her to rub him down with lotion. It is not clear whether this woman is the same woman who called 911.In any case‚ Miller was arrested and booked into the Gaston County jail. His sex has been listed as a ";male"; on jail records. Miller has been charged with one count of felony indecent exposure. In North Carolina‚ indecent exposure is usually a misdemeanor offense with one notable exception: when it occurs ";in the presence of any other person less than 16 years of age."; In other words‚ a young girl was likely inside the locker room at the time Miller allegedly exposed himself. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R) signed a bill into law on Wednesday that would allow state police to arrest and deport certain illegal immigrants.The law‚ which goes into effect July 1‚ will make it an aggravated misdemeanor to be in Iowa if the individual has an outstanding deportation order or was previously removed from the country or prohibited from entering the country. Individuals charged with the offense could face up to two years in prison.The charges are bumped up to a felony offense if the individuals former deportation order was related to drug crimes‚ crimes against people‚ or if they have any felony convictions. Suspects may not be arrested at places of worship‚ schools‚ medical facilities‚ or facilities for sexual assault survivors‚ the legislation reads. The Senate File 2340 states that a judge may choose to allow the immigrant to leave the country instead of facing charges. Reynolds stated‚ The Biden administration has failed to enforce our nations immigration laws‚ putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk.Those who come into our country illegally have broken the law‚ yet Biden refuses to deport them. Robert Dean Maher Jr. of Casper‚ Wyoming‚ reportedly received a concerned call from his girlfriend Sunday indicating that a pair of teens were stalking her and her friend around the Eastridge Mall. The chivalrous 14-year-old made his way over to help but was savagely stabbed to death.The Casper Police Department announced that they have arrested two teens in connection with Maher';s slaying.According to the Cowboy State Daily‚ the suspected killer is 15-year-old Jarreth Joseflee Sabstian Plunkett of Evansville. Plunkett now faces charges of first-degree murder‚ conspiracy to commit murder‚ aggravated assault and battery‚ and theft. He has been charged as an adult. He apparently did not work alone. Dominique Harris of Casper‚ 15‚ was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder‚ aggravated assault and battery‚ and theft.In court‚ police referenced cellphone footage captured by a witness revealing the victim ";clearly did not want to fight‚"; reported the Oil City News. The United States Border Patrols Del Rio Sector has apprehended 54 convicted sexual predators since October 2023‚ Chief Patrol Agent Robert Danley stated in a post on X Wednesday.More than 50 of those apprehended were convicted of sexual crimes against children‚ the post revealed.Since October 1‚ 2023‚ Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents have apprehended 54 convicted sex offenders after illegally crossing the border and attempting to evade law enforcement. One of the apprehended sex offenders was captured while crossing the border with a group of illegal immigrants who were attempting to evade law enforcement agents.The Del Rio Sector includes 245 miles along the Rio Grande and Lake Amistad in Texas. In total‚ the sector is responsible for 55‚063 square miles.On Tuesday‚ the Del Rio Sector shared a weekly recap from March 31 through April 6. Border Patrol agents reported 1‚956 apprehensions‚ 472 gotaways‚ 28 smuggling cases‚ and four rescues over that period. Agents encountered nine criminals‚ including five attempted illegal re-entries‚ three individuals with DUIs‚ and one claiming false citizenship. Border Patrol agents in the area reported 2‚240 illegal immigrant apprehensions and 769 gotaways the previous week. In the first five months of fiscal year 2024‚ the sector experienced more than 183‚000 illegal migrant encounters. Nearly 99‚000 of those encounters were single adults‚ roughly 75‚000 were family units‚ and approximately 8‚700 were unaccompanied children. Since October 1‚ 2023‚ Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents have apprehended 54 convicted sex offenders after illegally crossing the border and attempting to evade law enforcement. Cook‚ a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and a tenured professor at Michigan State University‚ has allegedly been even more untruthful about her academic work than previously thought.Cook';s economic credentials have been called into question at least since President Joe Biden nominated her to the Federal Reserve board in January 2022. Back then‚ critics noted not only that her list of publications was unusually thin for a tenured professor but that her most celebrated article ";Violence and Economic Activity: Evidence from African American Patents‚ 1870 to 1940‚"; published in 2014 was predicated on egregiously flawed data‚ leading her to unfairly argue that lynching and discrimination caused the number of patents issued to black people to collapse around the turn of the 20th century.One attempt at replicating her research for that article indicated that the number of patents issued to blacks at that time could have been nearly 70 times higher than the number Cook offered.She also continues to mislead about the quality of at least one her publications. In 2022‚ Chris Brunet of the Daily Caller News Foundation noticed that Cook had claimed she had been published in the American Economic Review‚ described by Brunet as ";the top peer-reviewed economics journal in the world."; However‚ that 2009 article actually appeared in American Economic Review Papers and Proceedings‚ which is not peer-reviewed. Though this detail has been publicly documented for more than two years‚ the CV included on Cook';s personal academic website which is also linked to her directory listing at the MSU Department of Economics still implies the article appeared in the more prestigious version of AER.Now‚ Rufo and Rosiak have reported that Cook has also repeatedly copied lengthy passages from the work of other scholars without proper attribution and even committed ";self-plagiarism‚"; lifting excerpts from her previous articles and including them in new ones‚ thereby compromising the notion of original work. In the journalists'; opinion‚ Cook';s publication missteps demonstrate ";a pattern of careless scholarship at best or‚ at worst‚ academic misconduct.";Cook‚ who was also once a member of the faculty of the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and the deputy director of Africa research at its Center for International Development‚ is now the fifth current or former Harvard professor who also happens to be black and female to be accused of some form of academic malfeasance. The scammers threatened to send the nude photographs to all of his followers‚ including friends and family‚ unless he paid their extortion demand.In one of their reported interactions‚ the Nigerians encouraged DeMay to kill himself after he couldn';t come up with the $1‚000 they were demanding. ";Do it fast.";DeMay committed suicide in 2022 under the pressure of the threats.U.S. officials worked to identify the scammers in Lagos‚ Nigeria‚ and were able to extradite two suspects‚ 22-year-old Samuel Ogoshi and 20-year-old Samson Ogoshi to the U.S. in August. Initially‚ the pair pleaded not guilty but later agreed to a plea deal. The Ogoshis agreed to pay restitution to the family of DeMay and to the more than 100 other victims of the scam. They also pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to sexually exploit minors. A third person named Ezekiel Ejehem Robert is accused of running the scam‚ but Nigerian officials are reviewing the extradition request from U.S. officials.DeMay';s mother‚ Jennifer Buta‚ told WDIV-TV that she hoped the case would serve as a warning to predators on social media no matter where they are located.";I hope that from what happened today‚ it truly sends a message to people who are engaging in this type of behavior online‚ that it doesn';t matter where you are‚ you can be caught and held accountable for doing this activity online to our children‚"; said Buta.U.S. attorney Mark Totten agreed with the grieving mother';s sentiment. ";Nothing can bring Jordan back‚ but my office is committed to securing justice and‚ alongside Jordans family‚ sending an urgent warning so others can protect themselves and their families‚"; he added. ";We will travel the world to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable.";The brothers face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years.
