Country Music Singer Craig Morgan On Why He Re-Enlisted In The U.S. Army: “There’s A Sense Of Renewed Pride In Our Nation”
Believe it or not, Craig Morgan is currently both a country music artist and serving in the U.S. Army.
To be more specific, the “How You Make A Man” singer is currently enlisted as a soldier in the Army Reserve – which typically provides training and informational session about the Army all across the country. Those in the Army Reserve are also able to be deployed if the Army’s Total Force is ever needed.
Morgan reenlisted in the Army last summer after previously serving for 17 years as a staff sergeant and fire support specialist in the Army and the Army Reserve with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. The country music artist actually got sworn back into the Army on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
On a recent episode of Fox & Friends, Morgan was asked why he decided to enlist again, and he revealed that there were two big reasons why he chose to join back on and serve:
“Recruiting was worse than it had ever been in the history of our nation. It was terrible, and I felt like I could bring something to the table to help with that. Secondly, I served 17 years and I never got a letter that said, ‘Thank you for your service.’ I wanted that retirement letter so bad. So this was an opportunity for me to do that.”
The conversation quickly pivoted to the recent increase in U.S. Army recruiting in the past couple of months. The U.S. Army proudly reported they were seeing their best recruiting numbers in over a decade to begin 2025. The White House even posted a message to social media letting Americans know that in December, the Army had their best recruiting numbers in 12 years.
That trend continued into January, when the U.S. Army experienced recruiting numbers at levels that haven’t been seen in over 15 years. So the White House is chalking it up as win for the Trump administration:
“WE’RE SO BACK. The U.S. Army has achieved its highest recruiting numbers in 15 years, following a 12-year high in December. Under President Trump’s America First leadership, Americans are answering the call to serve.”

The Fox & Friends hosts asked Morgan if the recent rise in recruitment numbers surprised him, and he suggested that America’s recent return to being more patriotic likely helps to explain the surge:
“Doesn’t surprise me at all. I’ve got to be honest. I’ve spent a lot of time out there talking to our young Americans and trying to encourage them. As you all just said, there’s a sense of renewed pride in our nation, and that trickles down to our young men and women and their families.”
Morgan was then asked if he had ever been more proud to be serving in the U.S. Army that he is now, serving under President Trump. The country music artist replied by saying that he’s certainly proud, but more than anything, he’s just happy he’s serving his great country once again:
“Never. I used to tell people, and I still do, ‘I never joined the army for a president. You join the army to serve your country.’ Any service member will tell you that. But it is nice to know that you have a President of the United States that truly cares about the men and women who are serving. Our Secretary of Defense truly cares about those men and women. These are people who have our interest first and foremost.”
All in all, it’s cool to see that Craig Morgan is juggling being a country star and a member of the U.S. Army Reserve so well. He’s certainly proud to be an American, and he’s living the dream as a country artist. And one of his proudest career moments – where both of his duties intertwined – would probably be the moment when he was sworn back into the Army on the Grand Ole Opry stage last summer.

Craig Morgan Releases New Music
Craig Morgan recently released his American Soundtrack EP, a 6 song project produced by Phil O’Donnell, as well as Craig himself.
Featuring anthems of faith, family, and patriotism, Morgan has always been a voice for the blue collar worker, the farmer, moms and dads… the everyday American. This EP is no different, and Craig says that there is a little something for everybody:
“I believe most people in this nation can relate to something in each song on this project. I absolutely love songwriting. God has given me a gift that allows me to impact other people’s lives. That is a blessing and I’ve learned not to take it for granted.”
