Surfer Hospitalized After Shark Attacks, Severed Leg Washes Ashore

A surfer in Australia had to be airlifted to the hospital after he was attacked by a shark and his severed leg later washed ashore, leaving doctors to try to reattach it. The 23-year-old male surfer, Kai McKenzie, was attacked by a shark near Port Macquarie in New South Wales, and remained in critical but stable condition on Tuesday, ABC News reported. Video of McKenzie’s surfboard with a chunk removed shows just how terrifying the attack was. “The man saw the shark approach him, he was able to fight it off, he was pretty courageous and able to turn around and catch a wave to shore,” New South Wales Ambulance Service acting duty operations officer in Hastings South, Kirran Mowbray, told the outlet. “He was very lucky at the time we had a [off duty] police officer that was walking his dog, she added. 23-year-old Kai McKenzie was attacked while surfing in New South Wales, Australia. https://t.co/UjcMObwR0T — SURFER (@Surfer) July 23, 2024 Mowbray said the off-duty officer “used a lead off the dog as a tourniquet to wrap around the young man’s leg and essentially saved the man’s life until the paramedics got there.” After McKenzie was taken to a nearby hospital, his severed leg washed up on shore. Locals put it on ice before taking it to the hospital, the New York Post noted. Both the surfer and his leg were then flown to John Hunter Hospital — a major trauma center — where he underwent emergency surgery, ABC noted. Doctors then had to try and figure out whether the leg could be reattached, the outlet noted. The report doesn’t indicate if the surgery to reconnect the leg happened or was successful. The surfer is a member of the RAGE team who released a statement after he was hospitalized that read, “Sending love to @kai_mckenzie the youngest RAGE boy on the team and the toughest person that we know,” Surfer.com noted. “Yesterday he was attacked by a shark and has lost his leg while surfing in Port Macquarie,” it added. “He has been through a lot breaking his back last year, he never once complained always just got on with doing what he loved as soon as possible. He is an inspiring person. The whole rage gang loves you man and we will see you soon.” McKenzie had only recently recovered and returned to the water after he had suffered a fractured neck last year, the outlet noted. “So happy to be back surfing after having a fractured neck been some real fun times lately,” McKenzie wrote on social media. Pro-Hamas Protesters Chant ‘Allahu Akbar’ As They Tear Down And Burn American Flags: ‘Hamas Is Coming’

Left-wing pro-Hamas extremists tore down and burned American flags in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday while chanting “Allahu Akbar” and waving Hamas terrorist flags. The extremists were rioting in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu giving a speech before U.S. Congress where he praised lawmakers for their continued support of Israel as it wages war against the genocidal Islamic terrorists responsible for the October 7 massacre. Much of the chaos unfolded at Union Station where the extremists tore down three American flags and replaced them with Palestinian flags. While they burned the American flags, they “Allahu Akbar,” a phrase commonly used by Islamic terrorists while carrying out attacks. Netanyahu Almost Drowned Out by Standing Ovations From Congress

“In the heart of the Middle East, standing in Iran’s way, is one proud, pro-American democracy—my country, the state of Israel!” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, visiting Washington amid the Israel-Hamas war, spoke these words Wednesday to enthusiastic applause during an address to a joint meeting of Congress that some Democrats boycotted. The Hamas terror organization, which killed or kidnapped over 1,400 Israelis and international civilians Oct. 7 in the most brutal attack on Jews since the Holocaust, is reported to be still holding 116 of 240 initial hostages—including eight American citizens. It is unknown how many of the hostages are still alive. Several Democrats chose not to attend as an act of protest against Israel and its war with Hamas. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., called the invitation to Netanyahu to speak to Congress “utterly immoral and cruel.” She and other far-left lawmakers have described Israel’s response to the Hamas attacks as a “genocide.” Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., has called for Netanyahu to be arrested and turned over to the International Criminal Court. Tlaib, a Palestinian American and a Muslim, attended Netanyahu’s address but held up a sign that said “war criminal” on one side and “guilty of genocide” on the other. She neither applauded nor stood for any hostages or their families. The White House has reviewed the Israel-Hamas war at least three times since Oct. 7 and found that Israel’s military actions don’t fit any definition of genocide. Polls show that a majority of Republicans, Democrats, and independents support Israel over Hamas. Vice President Kamala Harris, who also acts as president of the Senate, chose not to attend Netanyahu’s speech. Her campaign team said Harris had an earlier commitment to address a sorority convention in Indianapolis and rebuffed bipartisan accusations that her absence was also in protest of Israel. In the case of the absence of the vice president for an address to a joint meeting of Congress, the Senate president pro tempore sits next to the speaker of the House directly behind the guest. The person who currently holds that office is Rep. Patty Murray, D-Wash., who also boycotted Netanyahu’s address. Murray called for a “cease-fire” in the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by Hamas. Hamas has rejected every proposal for a cease-fire that allows for the release of hostages held by the terrorist group. And so House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., was joined by Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., in presiding over Netanyahu’s address. Cardin was acting Senate president pro tempore. Protesters outside the Capitol threatened to apprehend Netanyahu themselves, with one suggesting he would be “happy to make a citizen’s arrest.” Pro-Palestine protestor outside U.S. Capitol: We’d be “happy to make a citizen’s arrest” of Benjamin Netanyahu @EliseMcCue pic.twitter.com/YIAJOMeDnJ— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) July 24, 2024 Julio Rosas, an independent journalist who covers riots, reported that police had begun to use pepper spray on an increasingly unruly crowd outside the building. ?Police use pepper spray as anti-Netanyahu protesters attack police officers outside the Capitol Building. pic.twitter.com/ZpAr6EpmmU— Julio Rosas (@Julio_Rosas11) July 24, 2024 “I want to thank you for giving me the proud honor of addressing this citadel of democracy for the fourth time,” Netanyahu told lawmakers. Netanyahu thus became the foreign leader who has spoken to Congress more than any other in history. Israel’s prime minister previously had been tied with Winston Churchill, the celebrated British prime minister, with three appearances before Congress.  Netanyahu began by accusing Iran and its allies of aggression and “barbarism” against Israel, Western allies, and other Arab nations. “America and Israel must stand together,” he said to a standing ovation, “because when we stand together, something very simple happens: We win, they lose.” After praising the actions of the Israeli military for rescuing over 130 hostages, Netanyahu introduced Noa Argamani, one of four hostages rescued in a daring special forces operation. He also welcomed the families of American hostages still in captivity. “When I met with [these families] again, I promised them this: I will not rest until all of their loved ones are home,” he said. Netanyahu receives standing ovations for address before Congress on July 24. (Photo by Kent Nishimura/Getty Images) Netanyahu praised President Joe Biden for “tireless” support of Israel and promised that America’s stance with Israel during her “darkest hour” will “never be forgotten.” Other celebrated guests included four soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, a paratrooper officer who emigrated from Ethiopia, an injured tank commander, an infantryman who lost a leg fighting Hamas, and a sergeant named Ashraf who serves with one of Israel’s Muslim defensive units. Netanyahu celebrated their spirit, unity, and dedication: “Like Ashraf, the Muslim soldiers of the IDF fought alongside their Jewish, Bedouin, Christian, and other comrades in arms with tremendous bravery,” Netanyahu said, over applause. Netanyahu reaffirmed the post-World War II, post-Holocaust promise of “Never Again,” saying that “after Oct. 7, ‘Never Again’ is now!” The Israeli prime minister heaped scorn on those protesting in favor of Hamas on college campuses and elsewhere, contending that those who support the brutal rapes and murders of parents and children “should be ashamed of themselves.” “They refuse to make the simple distinction between those who target terrorists and those who target civilians,” Netanyahu said. “Between the democratic state of Israel and the terrorist thugs of Hamas.” He then outlined a report from U.S. intelligence citing Iranian funding for anti-Israel protests in the United States. “They want to disrupt America,” he said. “These protesters burn American flags, even on the Fourth of July—and I wish to salute the fraternity brothers of the University of North Carolina who protected the American flag against these anti-Israel protesters.” Amid the standing ovation and cheers that followed, many lawmakers in the audience began to chant “USA! USA!” “For all we know, Iran could be funding the anti-Israel protests going on right outside this building—not that many, but they’re there, and throughout the city,” Netanyahu said. “Well, I have a message for these protesters: When the tyrants of Tehran, who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair, are praising and promoting and funding you, you have officially become Iran’s useful idiots.” “Some of these protesters—it’s amazing, absolutely amazing,” he quipped, “some of these protesters hold up signs proclaiming ‘Gays for Gaza.’ They might as well hold up signs saying ‘Chickens for KFC’!” Netanyahu called out protesters who chanted the ethnic-cleansing slogan “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free!” but don’t “have a clue which river or sea they’re talking about.” “They not only get an ‘F’ in geography, but an ‘F’ in history,” he said. Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to securing a historic home for the Jewish people, dating back 4,000 years to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying: “It’s always been our home. It will always be our home.” He didn’t slam only the anti-Israel protesters on American university campuses, but also their administrators. He said that Harvard, UPenn, and his own alma mater, MIT, “couldn’t bring themselves to condemn the calls for the genocide of Jews.” Netanyahu asserted that there was no need for “additional context” to calls for genocide of the Jews, as university administrators told Congress they needed: Antisemitism is the world’s oldest hatred. For centuries, the massacre of Jews was always preceded by wild accusations. We were accused of everything from poisoning wells to spreading plagues to using the blood of slaughtered children to bake Passover matzos. These preposterous antisemitic lies led to persecution, mass murder, and ultimately to history’s worst genocide, the Holocaust. Just as malicious lies were leveled for centuries at the Jewish people, malicious lies are now being leveled at the Jewish state. The outrageous slanders that painted Israel as racist and genocidal are meant to delegitimize Israel, to demonize the Jewish state, and to demonize Jews everywhere. No wonder we’ve witnessed an appalling rise of antisemitism in America and around the world. My friends, whenever and wherever we see the scourge of antisemitism, we must unequivocally condemn it and resolutely fight it without exception. Netanyahu rebuffed the International Criminal Court’s claim that Israel has starved civilians in Gaza, citing 500,000 tons of food that has been shipped in. “If there are Palestinians in Gaza who aren’t getting enough food, it’s not because Israel is blocking it,” he said, “it’s because Hamas is stealing it.” The prime minister warned that bowing to calls for a cease-fire “before the war was won” would allow Hamas to continue perpetrating additional acts of terror against Israel and civilians in Gaza. He reaffirmed that he would never allow a premature conclusion. Netanyahu cited the analysis of Col. John Spencer, military historian and professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Spencer’s investigation into urban warfare throughout history concluded that Israel had taken more steps to prevent civilian casualties (beyond those required by international law) than any other nation in history. Netanyahu argued that Israeli soldiers “should not be condemned for how they’re conducting the war in Gaza, but commended for it.” He warned that the threat of Islamist terrorism from Iran and its proxies is not limited to Israel but looms over the entire Middle East, Western powers, and the United States. He cited assassination attempts, Iran’s nuclear weapons program, and open calls for war with the U.S. “My friends, if you remember one thing from this speech, remember this,” Netanyahu said. “Our enemies are your enemies, our fight is your fight, and our victory will be your victory. That victory is in sight.” He added: This war could be over tomorrow if Hamas surrendered and released all of the hostages. But if they don’t, Israel will fight until we destroy Hamas’ military capabilities, end its rule in Gaza, and bring all of our hostages home. That is what victory means, and we’ll settle for nothing less. Netanyahu called on America to “give us the tools faster, and we’ll finish the job faster,” echoing Churchill’s calls for U.S. aid during World War II. He also painted a picture of a civilian-run, demilitarized Gaza Strip similar to Japan and Germany after the Allies’ victory in 1945. And he thanked former President Donald Trump for his staunch support of Israel and Jerusalem as the nation’s capital, and for brokering the Abraham Accords—calling on that peace agreement to be the bedrock of an “Abraham Alliance” among Israel and friendly Arab nations in the Middle East. Netanyahu concluded by praising the alliance between the United States and Israel, vowing:  Israel will always be your loyal friend and your steadfast partner. On behalf of the people of Israel, I came here today to say: Thank you, America! Thank you for your solidarity, thank you for standing with Israel in our hour of need. Together, we shall defend our common civilization. Together, we shall secure a brilliant future for both our nations. May God bless Israel, may God bless America, and may God bless the great alliance between Israel and America forever. What We Saw at a Mostly Peaceful, Slightly Fiery Anti-Netanyahu Protest in DC

What began with a few “man on the street” interviews at a pro-Palestine rally quickly descended into a witness to violence, arson, and unmistakable vitriol against America and Israel.  It all unfolded at a rally and march in protest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington on Wednesday to address a joint session of Congress.  Thousands of people clogged the streets of Capitol Hill to make their voices heard in protest of the war in Gaza, of who they called “war criminal” Netanyahu, and of America’s supposed “funding of genocide.”  US Flags Burned, Palestinian Flags Raised  American flag burning outside of Union Station pic.twitter.com/ZXnjotrG09— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) July 24, 2024 Protesters swarmed Union Station to tear down the three American flags that stand tall outside the transit hub and replace them with Palestinian flags.  Remnants of the first American flag and an Israeli flag burned by pro-Palestine protestors outside Union Station@DailySignal pic.twitter.com/44cm3Mn98i— Tim Kennedy (@TimKennedyJr1) July 24, 2024 The American flags were burned on the ground while crowds cheered on the act.  PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTORS ARE BURNING THE AMERICAN FLAG??They’ve taken down all three American flags outside Union Station and replaced them with the Palestinian one. But, you know, he deserves it.”  We followed up with: “If you could get to Netanyahu, what would you do, what would you say to him?”  One of two protesters, laughing off the question, said, “I can’t answer that right now, I don’t want to incriminate myself.”   Remember the J6 Gallows, this is the July 24 Guillotine https://t.co/AuJk0DyQgb— Tim Kennedy (@TimKennedyJr1) July 24, 2024 A third protester showed off a replica guillotine. Cotton Accused of 'Attacking Harris' by Calling Her San Fran Liberal

As the Democratic Party had finally seemed to settle on the now-glorified Vice President Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate, it was no surprise that the liberal media have followed suit. Nearly any and every critique of the candidate was considered an attack on Harris, even referring to her as a “San Francisco Democrat,” which Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) was berated for on Wednesday morning’s Segment of CNN’s News Central. The media, having been hyper fixated on restoring the Democratic Party, has been making a stand to defend Harris. Co-host John Berman, during an interview with Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA) took advantage of the opportunity to highlight Harris as a martyr claiming: BERMAN: In terms of the candidacy of Vice President Harris we've seen over the last 24 hours a line of attack coming from Republicans calling her a San Francisco liberal. I had Tom Cotton, the Arkansas Republican on yesterday and I want you to listen to how many times he said it in a short period of time.  COTTON: She is a San Francisco liberal; a San Francisco liberal; San Francisco liberal; a failed San Francisco liberal; she is a failed San Francisco liberal. BERMAN: That had been a drinking game, I would have been plastered by the end of that, congresswoman. But listen, you know, San Francisco up the beach, up the coast from you, how do you defend her against those attacks.     What seemed like the most ridiculous claim by the host was doubled down upon Chu, allowing for yet another campaign monologue: She is an American who stood up for the needs of Americans. She has been instrumental in making sure that we got the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill so that we could get good jobs in America. And she was instrumental in the Inflation Reduction Act, which brought prescription drugs down to only $2,000 a year for seniors and $35 a month for Insulin for seniors. And she has been instrumental in the Chips and Science Act, which will finally bring back semiconductor manufacturing to the U.S. These are American priorities and Vice President Harris has been in the forefront of that going all over the United States to make sure that these monies are spread across every sector of society and in fact, in the Midwest where these kinds of manufacturing jobs are greatly needed. It is ridiculous, the claims which the liberal media has entertained, that stating a simple fact of Kamala’s Political background is seen as an attack. The media can try and paint Harris as the moderate pick for as long as they want but at the end of the day, her ACU rating was still 4.45 percent. It must be noted that Jud Chu, having an even lower rating of 3.38 percent, joined Harris in the Liberal Californian category. Following the assassination upon his life, Trump was made a martyr for the week, yet this was just the beginning of the glorification which may bolster Harris’ campaign. One that, without a doubt, will be spearheaded by the liberal media. The transcript is below, click “expand” to read: CNN News Central  7/24/2024 08:12:28 AM EST   (...) Armed homeowner finds intruder in kitchen in middle of night — and lets his gun explain how unwelcome intruder is

"Good job, homeowner!""Prayers for recovery of the homeowners. What a violation of privacy and what a dreadful thing to have to do!" another commenter stated. "Prayers for peace and the ability to relax again soon.""Way to go homeowner," another commenter declared. "It’s your right to stand your ground and protect your family. I’m sad for the young man that made that choice to rob someone, but…"Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Pro-Hamas protesters take down US flags in DC — police deploy pepper spray to stop mob chase: Video

In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's scheduled speech before Congress on Wednesday, at least several hundred pro-Hamas activists, many carrying Palestinian flags, gathered around Capitol Hill to protest his address.Blaze News' Julio Rosas captured videos of the anti-Israel protesters shouting, chasing, and shoving police officers stationed around the Capitol building and Union Station.'Absolute chaos.'Video from the demonstration showed some individuals in the mob attempting to pull police officers off of restrained and handcuffed agitators."Let them go! Let them go!" the crowd chanted at cops. U.S. Park Police removed and secured an American flag at Union Station and withdrew from the chaos, Blaze News captured on video. Protesters followed the group of officers, shouting instructions to one another to grab the flag from officers. — (@) American flags posted outside of Union Station were removed by activists and replaced with Palestinian flags. A statue was defaced by protesters who wrote, "Hamas is coming." Other photographs and videos showed demonstrators burning American and Israeli flags. — (@) Metropolitan Police officers deployed pepper spray outside of the Capitol building to break up the melee.Rosas described the scene as "absolute chaos," writing in a post on X, "The mob continued to chase police officers to try to free protesters who had been arrested at Union Station. Pepper spray was eventually used to push the crowd back."Rosas reported that law enforcement has detained some of the protesters. Meanwhile, approximately half of the House and Senate Democrats refused to attend Netanyahu's address before Congress, choosing instead to align themselves with the activists. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) were among those who boycotted the prime minister's address. In the chamber, Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) held up a sign reading "Guilty of genocide.""I will never back down in speaking truth to power," Tlaib stated. "The apartheid government of Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians. Palestinians will not be erased. Solidarity with all those outside of these walls in the streets protesting and exercising their right to dissent."Ocasio-Cortez called Netanyahu "a war criminal."Vice President Kamala Harris (D) also did not attend Netanyahu's speech, citing a previously scheduled event. President Joe Biden and Harris will reportedly hold separate meetings with the Israeli prime minister on Thursday. Donald Trump is slated to sit down with Netanyahu on Friday. Neither Biden nor Harris showed up to greet Netanyahu and his wife when they arrived in Washington, D.C., on Monday. — (@) Like Blaze News? Dad is in the dark that he won $1 million jackpot until detectives explain to him that his lottery ticket had been stolen

A Tennessee father had no idea that he had won a $1 million jackpot until the moment detectives told him that his lottery ticket had been stolen, according to authorities. A lucky dad recently purchased two scratch-off lottery tickets at a Shell station in Murfreesboro. He reportedly asked the clerk to check if the tickets — $20 Diamond and Gold tickets — were winners.'The feel-good side of this story is the [Antioch father] never knew he was the winner until we made contact with him. That is absolutely life-changing money.'The clerk — identified by authorities as 23-year-old Meet Patel — allegedly told the dad that he had won $40 on one ticket, but the other ticket was not a winner.Lt. Detective Steve Craig told WTVF-TV the ticket the dad was told was not a winner ended up "on top of the trash." Then when the dad departed the store, Craig said Patel "took the trash outside, and if you follow him on camera, you can see him grab the ticket and put it in his pocket."However, the "losing" ticket was a million-dollar winner — and Patel allegedly attempted to claim the prize.Craig noted, "He went to the lottery commission to claim the ticket as his own, but there were red flags, and they held onto the ticket." Tennessee Lottery officials reviewed security footage from the Shell gas station and determined that the winning ticket was stolen.Detective Dennis Ward told NBC News, "Mr. Patel is then seen later in the video celebrating in the store after scratching off the front of the ticket and learning it was a $1 million winner."Craig explained, "It's pretty obvious. Good enough to put in front of 12 jurors, and they'll reach the same conclusion."Patel was accused of stealing the million-dollar lottery ticket — a Class A felony — and was being held in the Rutherford County Jail on $100,000 bond after his arrest. Patel is scheduled to appear in court July 30.Craig added, "The feel-good side of this story is the [Antioch father] never knew he was the winner until we made contact with him. That is absolutely life-changing money."The dad requested that his identity not be revealed.Craig gave some advice to those who play the lottery: "If you scratch off the front bar code, it will tell you if it’s a winner or not, regardless of whether you scratch off everything showing how much you won."Like Blaze News?
