10 Best Albums To Turn People On To Southern Rock

Our 10 Best Albums to Turn People on to Southern Rock presents a list of albums that, for the most part, have always been classified as Southern rock and roll. Now, of course, there are some bands that have denied that they should ever be labeled as Southern rock—the Allman Brothers Band being one of them. Nonetheless, I think if we had to come up with some sort of label, putting the Allman Brothers Band under the Southern rock label would probably be the most appropriate, although all big-time Allman Brothers fans know they were a band that blended many The post 10 Best Albums To Turn People On To Southern Rock appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

The Terror: Devil in Silver Adaptation Casts Dan Stevens

News The Terror: Devil in Silver The Terror: Devil in Silver Adaptation Casts Dan Stevens Always a great day for a Victor LaValle adaptation. By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on July 18, 2024 Credit: Dan McFadden/Warner Bros. Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: Dan McFadden/Warner Bros. Season Three of AMC’s anthology horror series, The Terror, is set to be an adaptation of Victor LaValle’s novel, The Devil in Silver. The season is co-written by LaValle and Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire), and today we found out who will be starring in the upcoming episodes. Dan Stevens, whose previous credits include Legion, Beauty and the Beast, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (in which he is pictured above) has signed on to the production. He will play Pepper, who AMC describes as “a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital—an institution filled with the people society would rather forget. There, he must contend with patients who work against him, doctors who harbor grim secrets, and perhaps even the very Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face down the entity which thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls—but doing so may prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.” “I’m thrilled to be a part of The Terror: Devil in Silver,” Stevens said in a statement. “This series is a dark symphony of psychological horror and gripping drama, set to rock the audience. Victor LaValle, Christopher Cantwell, and this incredible team have crafted a unique and twisted dance of devils and shadows. I look forward to delivering something epic that will echo through the halls like an iron bell.” Previous seasons of The Terror centered on the horrors on a British naval expedition caught in the Northwest Passage and the United States’ internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. The third season, The Terror: Devil in Silver, will premiere on AMC and AMC+ with six episodes in 2025. [end-mark] The post <i>The Terror: Devil in Silver</i> Adaptation Casts Dan Stevens appeared first on Reactor.

Sen. Menendez Reportedly Confirms Resignation in Wake of Bribery Conviction

DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey reportedly confirmed to Democratic lawmakers he will resign from his position following his conviction in a federal bribery trial, two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News. The senator, a former Democrat who recently became an independent, was convicted Tuesday on all 16 counts of his involvement in a bribery and corruption scheme, involving three New Jersey businessmen and the Egyptian government. Over the past few months, Menendez has been facing mounting pressure from Democratic lawmakers, as sources close to the matter say he’s reportedly made calls to his allies about his intention to step down, according to NBC News. The resignation from Menendez would ultimately end his three decades in politics after undergoing a criminal trial over allegations of corruption. Menendez was indicted March 5 after an investigation found more than $480,000 in cash, a luxury vehicle that was purchased by the businessmen for Menendez’s wife, and more than $100,000 of gold bars, the investigation filing stated.  Following the verdict, Menendez stated he was “deeply disappointed by the jury’s decision,” noting his optimism in his legal team’s appeal for the case. However, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called for his resignation, as did other Democrats, such as Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois and Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., according to posts on X (formerly Twitter). Leaders in New Jersey, including the Governor and my Senate colleague Cory Booker, have made it clear that Sen. Menendez can no longer serve. He should step down.— Senator Dick Durbin (@SenatorDurbin) September 27, 2023 “In light of this guilty verdict, Senator Menendez must now do what is right for his constituents, the Senate, and our country, and resign,” Schumer wrote on X, following the verdict. In light of this guilty verdict, Senator Menendez must now do what is right for his constituents, the Senate, and our country, and resign.— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) July 16, 2024 Despite calls for him to step aside, prior to the ruling, Menendez stated in March that he would be running again for reelection as an Independent, officially switching his party for the race on June 3. Menendez has been at the center of several indictments and investigations, prior to his latest verdict, since 2006. If reports are confirmed, it’s unclear when the senator would be stepping aside, as he would be leaving the Senate race to Rep. Andy Kim, D-N.J., and Republican candidate Curtis Bashaw. Menendez’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment. Originally published by the Daily Caller News Foundation The post Sen. Spanish PM Pushes Media Censorship Law Amidst Corruption Scandal

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is pushing for new rules to be adopted with the stated aim of stopping the spread of “fake news” – specifically that which he brands as being “largely finances by the extreme right.” But the opposition there remains unconvinced that this is not simply another initiative to censor media outlets that the government dislikes, sold to the public as a new way to rein in “digital tabloids that spread hoaxes.” Despite, or because of these suspicions, that the government’s activities are aimed at stifling the very foundations of democracy, free speech, and media, Sanchez chose to “sell” his proposal to Spain’s parliament as necessary – to protect democracy. “Without reliable and diverse sources of information, the citizens are blind,” Sanchez is quoted as declaring. He’s not wrong – but actions, as well as context, speak louder than words. Not only is Sanchez’s “law on censorship,” as opponents are calling it, supposed to align with the EU’s Media Freedom Act, but it also comes at a particularly sensitive time for Sanchez personally. Namely, his wife is about to testify in court in a corruption scandal, which the prime minister has previously said was fabricated for political reasons “by right-wing media,” and to assist the opposition. And announcements of new rules around media outlets were first heard from the head of government earlier this month, when the wife, Begona Gomez, made her first court appearance in the case. The most influential among the opposition, the People’s Party, has no doubt that Sanchez is simply out to control the media publishing content critical of him. Sanchez, on the other hand, insists the new rules would apply equally to all media without favoritism. Some of the proposed measures include identifying “all shareholders with influence over editorial policy” – which would require a strong and clear definition of who qualifies before it would ever be accepted as fair by critics. And, the Spanish PM wants to make sure the “trusty” legacy media (referred to as “traditional” in reports appearing in – the legacy media) are given a leg up in a competitive market. Namely, the plan is to subsidize their transition to digital with €100 million ($109 million). What Trump Should Say Thursday Night

What Trump Should Say Thursday Night

When Donald Trump takes the stage Thursday night and accepts for the third time the Republican Party’s nomination for president, he faces an opportunity and a temptation. The temptation is to launch a full-bore attack on Democrats, President Biden, the left and the media. The opportunity is to use the sympathy he has garnered since last Saturday’s assassination attempt to pursue a loftier goal. He should choose the opportunity. After Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinkley in 1981, the president told his wife, Nancy, at the hospital, “Honey, I forgot to duck.” That leaked comment immediately endeared him to many Americans, including, I suspect, some who had not voted for him. Reagan’s display of humility and his refusal to condemn Hinkley astounded many, though it was consistent with his character. Two weeks after being shot, he returned to the White House and wrote in his diary: “Whatever happens now I owe my life to God and will try to serve him in every way I can.” In Washington if you can fake humility you can fake anything, but this is where Trump has a chance to demonstrate a thought Calvin Coolidge once expressed: “ It is a great advantage to a President, and a major source of safety to the country, for him to know that he is not a great man.” Americans have always appreciated stories about changed lives. “I once was blind, but now I see” is a lyric from “Amazing Grace,” a hymn popular even among the secular. A preview of what might be coming Thursday was the expression on Trump’s face and his demeanor as he made an appearance Monday night inside the convention hall in Milwaukee. As the crowd roared, he seemed to be applauding them and repeatedly murmured “thank you.” The gauze bandage on his right ear covering where he had been shot added further weight to the moment. Trump should begin his speech by thanking those who contributed to saving his life. What message does he take from being spared? He should tell us. What has the experience taught him about the brevity of life and his own mortality? He should minimize, or eliminate, any attacks on President Biden and talk optimistically about the future and what he plans to do if given another opportunity. He shouldn’t appear to be faking it, so lowering the tone of his voice and speaking as if directly to one person (with his TV experience he knows how to do that) would go a long way toward changing the political temperature, at least temporarily. Someone might share with him this profound thought: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.” (Proverbs 15:1-2) Trump has had his say about what he thinks of the president, Nancy Pelosi and even some fellow Republicans. He should pledge in his speech that he intends to focus less on personalities and more on what he regards as the failed policies of the present administration, how he plans to reverse them, and how that reversal will benefit the most people. Optimism about the future is what people want to hear. They know and can feel the problems, especially economic ones. To that end I offer this useful quote: “All of us share this world for but a brief moment in time. The question is whether we spend that time focused on what pushes us apart, or whether we commit ourselves to an effort — a sustained effort — to find common ground, to focus on the future we seek for our children, and to respect the dignity of all human beings." I’d love to see the reaction from the delegates and the media if Trump dared to use that quote from President Barack Obama in his acceptance speech.

Why YOU should DEMAND the firing of Biden’s Secret Service director

Former President Donald Trump may have survived the attempt on his life, but it doesn’t seem like the Secret Service had much to do with it. “It was by the grace of God that Donald Trump survived, it was not with the help of the Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle,” Sara Gonzales of “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered” says. Not only does Cheatle refuse to resign, but she’s blaming others for what happened on the day the former president narrowly escaped with his life. “There was local police in the area that were responsible for the outer perimeter of the building,” Cheatle said in an interview on ABC News, adding, “I’m being told that the shooter was actually identified as a potential person of suspicion.” “At least we can be thankful that apparently she’s so stupid that she thought that it would be wise to point that out,” Gonzales says. “Like, that’s how incapable we were. We identified him, I mean, he still managed to get a shot off, he still managed to get on the roof, he still managed to go around unscathed.” At one point in the director’s interview with ABC News, the reporter asked her who was “responsible for this happening?” “The Secret Service is responsible for the protection of the former president,” Cheatle responded, before the reporter asked, “So, the buck stops with you?” “The buck stops with me. I am the director of the Secret Service. It was unacceptable and it’s something that shouldn’t happen again,” she said, later adding that she does “plan to stay on.” Gonzales cannot believe the woman plans to stay in her position. “Number one, Cheatle is obviously an under-qualified, nepotistic, DEI hire,” Gonzales says, noting that an insider told the New York Post that Jill Biden’s chief adviser Anthony Bernal was the one who pushed for her to get the director job. While Cheatle was previously a part of Vice President Joe Biden’s security detail, she held a string of administrative jobs that included the assistant director of protective operations — where she managed the budget. “I’m sure that the person who handles the finances would know how to just make sure that your people don’t die,” Gonzales scoffs, adding, “She’s a glorified secretary who knew a guy, who knew a guy, who was connected with someone else.” In addition, the director is also blaming the “sloped roof” for what happened. “That building in particular has a sloped roof, at its highest point, and so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof and so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building from the inside,” she said in the interview with ABC News. “We saw the counter snipers behind Donald Trump who were on sloped roofs,” Gonzales says. “The entire point of Secret Service is for them to put themselves in harm's way in order to save whoever it is that they’re guarding.” Want more from Sara Gonzales? To enjoy more of Sara's no-holds-barred take to news and culture, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

'We're close to the end': Obama, top Democrats reportedly pushing Biden to drop out of 2024 race

Former President Barack Obama and other top Democrats are pushing President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, according to multiple reports. The Washington Post reported on Thursday that Obama has only spoken to Biden once since the sitting president's disastrous presidential debate against former President Donald Trump. The outlet noted that Obama "has been clear in his conversations" with others that he alone could influence Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential election. However, Obama has reportedly "been deeply engaged in conversations about the future of Biden’s campaign" with allies and has spoken about Biden's political "challenges" with top Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). According to multiple sources connected to Obama, he told Democratic leadership that Biden's "path to victory has greatly diminished," and the 81-year-old president "needs to seriously consider the viability of his candidacy." Obama reportedly is concerned about Biden's legacy as well as the legitimate threat of Republicans taking control of the White House and both chambers of Congress next year. Obama is also allegedly worried about donors deserting Biden and the Democratic Party. The Biden campaign is estimated to raise only 25% of the big donor money it had projected to fundraise in July, a person with knowledge of the projections informed NBC News. An Obama spokesperson declined to provide a comment to the Washington Post. A new report from Axios mirrored WaPo's reporting and cited two sources that claimed Obama has told allies that Biden "needs to consider the viability of his campaign."The report added that Pelosi met privately with Biden and pointed out how Democrats could suffer future congressional repercussions if the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee does not abandon his re-election campaign. Pelosi allegedly showed Biden polling revealing that he can't defeat Trump in the 2024 election. One of Biden's "close friends" allegedly told Axios, "His choice is to be one of history's heroes, or to be sure of the fact that there'll never be a Biden presidential library. I pray that he does the right thing. He's headed that way."Several top Democrats reportedly told Axios that Biden could be pressured to end his presidential run "as soon as this weekend."The Associated Press also had a report on Thursday echoing the accounts that Obama told allies that Biden needs to re-evaluate the practicality of his campaign. The outlet also spoke to anonymous sources who confirmed Pelosi's meeting with Biden. NBC News reported on Thursday that the "ground has shifted underneath" Biden, citing five people with "knowledge of the situation."A person "close" to Biden told the outlet, “We’re close to the end.”Late Wednesday, ABC News reported new details about Biden’s private meeting on Saturday with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. A "knowledgeable source" close to both Democrats told the outlet that Schumer had a "blunt conversation" with the president, advocating for Biden to step down from the 2024 presidential race.Schumer's office said of the meeting, "I sat with President Biden this afternoon in Delaware; we had a good meeting."In response to the ABC News report, Schumer's spokesperson stated, "Unless ABC's source is Chuck Schumer or President Joe Biden the reporting is idle speculation. Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus directly to President Biden on Saturday."On Wednesday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) urged Biden to "pass the torch" and end his presidential campaign. “Joe Biden has been one of the most consequential presidents in our nation’s history, and his lifetime of service as a senator, a vice president, and now as president has made our country better,” Schiff said in a statement. “But our nation is at a crossroads. A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November.”Complicating matters for President Biden is that he has been taken off the campaign trail after testing positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.Like Blaze News?
