Disgraced YouTuber asks if she 'made the news' in jailhouse calls following child abuse charges

Disgraced Mormon YouTube vlogger Ruby Franke is facing 60 years in prison for abusing her children‚ but it appears she's more concerned about whether or not she's appeared on the news‚ according to the New York Post. When Franke was initially arrested for the abuse of her two younger children‚ newly released audio of her jailhouse calls indicated that she had asked if "we made the news." None of the people Franke talked to over the phone after being arrested have been identified by name.Franke‚ 42‚ made a name for herself by creating a YouTube channel called "8 Passengers" — alluding to the number of people in her family. Though she put on a glossy front‚ she appeared to blame her children for their own abuse‚ suggesting that "adults have a really hard time understanding that children can be full of evil‚ and what that takes to fight it‚" according to the released phone records.Reports indicated that Franke had abused her children in many ways‚ including shaving their heads‚ dousing them with dirty mop water‚ starving them‚ forcing them to stand barefoot outside in the extreme desert heat‚ and forcing them to wear adult diapers.During one jailhouse call‚ an unidentified man told Franke that the new revelations about her abuse had made the news. Franke reportedly asked: "Are we in the news?""It sounds like at least you're in the news‚" the man responded‚ adding that he planned on "going dark." It is uncertain if the unidentified man was involved in the abuse.“This is a witch hunt‚” Franke said. “The devil’s been after me for years.” Instead of expressing remorse in the phone calls‚ Franke mentioned that "[t]he most upsetting thing is that I am completely misunderstood" in a phone call dated September 1‚ 2023. The conversation was reportedly between Franke and her husband.“That is the most horrible feeling. Like‚ my own family misunderstands me‚ they misinterpret me‚” she added. Some of the details about Franke's case are eerily similar to that of Lori Vallow‚ who was recently charged with murdering two of her children. Not only is Vallow a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints‚ she previously operated under the assumption that some people were demons and zombies. The case became so significant that a Netflix documentary was made about it called "Sins of Our Mother."However‚ it is uncertain if Franke and Vallow share any connection. Like Blaze News? Cash for calm: AMLO eyes US billions to solve the border crisis

Cash for calm: AMLO eyes US billions to solve the border crisis

On Sunday night’s episode of “60 Minutes‚” Mexico’s president‚ Andrés Manuel López Obrador — better known as AMLO — offered his plan for fixing America’s migration crisis. It’s quite simple. The United States simply should commit to providing $20 billion a year toward eliminating poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean; lift all sanctions‚ embargoes‚ etc. on Venezuela and Cuba; and grant amnesty to “law-abiding” Mexican illegal aliens. You can’t make this stuff up. The rapidly failing state to our south is insisting that it is incumbent upon the United States to fix the migration problems that Mexico itself is causing. Because‚ let’s be frank‚ 85% of America’s border woes wouldn’t exist if Mexico refused to serve as the Yellow Brick Road for migrants seeking a new life in Yanqui territory.AMLO needs to portray the United States as the source of both the push and pull factors that affect migration patterns. This is nothing new. AMLO is just parroting the standard narrative that is popular among the anti-borders‚ globalist elite: Mexican‚ Central‚ and South American poverty and squalor have nothing to do with local greed‚ corruption‚ or incompetence. American capitalism and imperialism are responsible for all the bad stuff the developing South is experiencing. Therefore‚ the United States should provide massive infusions of hard cash that will magically transform deteriorating nations into well-run‚ democratic republics.Once the American-financed utopia has been achieved‚ Mexicans‚ Guatemalans‚ Hondurans‚ etc.‚ will never again want to leave home.Sure. Anyone with a modicum of geopolitical savvy knows this is a house constructed entirely of sand and fog. Therefore‚ it might be tempting to dismiss AMLO’s low-rent‚ Mexican Marshall Plan as the type of political chicanery that only a charlatan from a Third World kleptocracy could produce. But much more is going on here than simply performative‚ political theater.AMLO’s plan is an outright political deception operation.Mexico‚ in fact‚ has no interest in seeing an end to the current border crisis. And that’s because Mexico’s economy is entirely dependent on U.S. dollars that migrants who have relocated to the United States send home to family and friends in the form of “remittance payments.”In 2017‚ Mexicans residing in the U.S. sent approximately $30 billion south of the border. The Bank of Mexico reports that amount ballooned to $51.6 billion in 2021. That means that remittance payments are Mexico’s biggest source of foreign income — larger than oil and gas revenues‚ tourism earnings‚ and the export sale of manufactured goods. If illegal migration into the United States were suddenly stopped and lawful migration were brought down to reasonable levels‚ Mexico would immediately experience a massive economic crisis that would make the Great Depression look like a $25 overdraft on a college student’s checking account.AMLO‚ and whoever succeeds him when he leaves office in September‚ needs to ensure an uninterrupted flow of Mexican nationals headed out of the country. But it is a political mess of the highest order if you must admit that the country you run can only keep functioning if a hefty chunk of the local population regularly flees for territory where devil-worshipping drug cartels hold no political sway. So AMLO needs to portray the United States as the source of both the push and pull factors that affect migration patterns. And the current U.S. administration also benefits from buying into this fiction. Although the White House is the sole source of the instant crisis and has about as much interest as Mexico does in solving the problem‚ it needs to give the impression that it is doing something to protect Americans and resolve the chaos along the Rio Grande. In an effort to portray the last U.S. president as having employed “crude” and “racist” means to secure the border‚ the current denizen of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. has decided to pitch himself as a master of grand strategy and great power politics. And the AMLO plan allows him to claim that he’s engaging in constructive migration diplomacy‚ through negotiations with our partner and neighbor‚ while he actually does everything in his power to ensure that any foreign nationals who want to can enter the United States illegally.Accordingly‚ Obrador’s suggestions on how to fix the U.S.-Mexico border are a real-life version of “Wag the Dog.” They allow AMLO to cast himself as the champion of nations allegedly “victimized” by America such as Venezuela and Cuba‚ while simultaneously shilling for a special amnesty for Mexican illegal aliens. And if a U.S. administration happens to inject $20 billion into Latin America and the Caribbean‚ that’s just icing on the cake. But nothing in the AMLO plan was ever intended to do anything to impede any migrants from crossing our southern border — and that’s just the way Mexico’s sanctimonious president wants it.

Doctors blown away after Italian man survives being buried under an avalanche for 23 hours

An impressively fit 54-year-old Italian skier managed to do the impossible by surviving almost a full day buried beneath an avalanche‚ according to Mirror. Not only has the man had to relearn how to walk‚ he even has his sights set on getting back out on the slopes.Physicians cannot understand how Carluccio Sartori did not die after an avalanche collapsed on top of him while he was out skiing in the Val Badia mountains in Italy's South Tyrol range. After he was discovered‚ he was both conscious and able to talk. The New York Post reported that after 14 months of recovery‚ Sartori has managed to start walking again and started a careful return to the mountains again."I've done a few ski mountaineering trips this year but I continue to be treated by the same doctors‚ we're friends now. I have some problems with my right hand‚ but otherwise I'm fine. Not even the doctors can explain how it's possible‚" Sartori said."My right foot had small problems‚ but it is on the mend. In short‚ the right hand still suffers from changes in temperatures‚ even if I manage to close it completely: I am happy to still have it intact."Sartori's medical team have struggled to understand how he survived beneath the snow for that long. It seemed like a big miracle. "Not even the doctors can explain it‚" the 54-year-old said. "I should have died after the first eight or 10 hours.""When they found me I was conscious and with a body temperature of 23 degrees‚ everything was working perfectly." In other words‚ his body temperature was about 73 degrees Fahrenheit‚ which represents the third "severe" stage of hypothermia. "For them it was inexplicable. The doctors have said that I have a perfect physique. I play sports‚ I go mountain biking‚ but I'm not a fanatic about healthy eating. I don't smoke‚ it's true‚ but every now and then I drink wine and beer."The Sierra Avalanche Association reported that most deaths caused by avalanches are due to asphyxiation‚ which is heavily dependent on time. The chances of surviving after 15 minutes is about 95% but the likelihood dramatically decreases to just 37% after just 35 minutes.Sartori mentioned that there was a funnel that led to the surface of the snow‚ which allowed him the ability to breathe while physically restrained beneath the avalanche. ‘Uptick in crime’ near controversial NYC migrant shelter prompts GOP lawmakers to demand vetting process records: Report

An “uptick in crime” near a controversial New York City migrant shelter prompted Republican lawmakers to send a letter‚ obtained by the New York Post‚ to the National Park Service demanding information about the vetting process for tenants.House Republican Bruce Westerman‚ the chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources‚ and seven other GOP lawmakers penned a letter to NPS director Charles Sams stating that the House Committee on Natural Resources is examining the decision to house migrants at Floyd Bennett Field‚ which is located on NPS land. The city began housing migrants at the Brooklyn airfield in November after its existing shelter system neared capacity. Many of the migrants who were part of the first busload transported to Floyd Bennett Field refused to reside at the makeshift tent city shelter‚ complaining that the accommodations were too remote. The shelter‚ which can house up to 2‚000 migrants‚ became a hotbed for panhandling‚ according to residents in the area. An increase in begging and criminal activity prompted Democratic Mayor Eric Adams to impose a curfew at some migrant shelter locations. “Since the establishment of the migrant encampment at Floyd Bennett Field‚ local and national media have reported an uptick in crime at the migrant encampment and in the immediate neighborhood surrounding the park‚” lawmakers wrote to Sams. The letter stated that the migrant crisis has led to an increase in criminal activity in the city and nationwide. “The widespread reports of criminality in and around the Floyd Bennett Field migrant encampment include domestic violence‚ assault‚ shoplifting‚ prostitution‚ and panhandling scams‚” the lawmakers said. “The Committee is deeply concerned with the Biden administration’s management of American’s public lands‚ notably at Floyd Bennett Field‚ and the inherent safety risks to employees at the park‚ residents of the surrounding communities‚ and migrants as a result of the decision to lease national park land for a migrant encampment.”The lawmakers noted that the lease agreement states that the New York Police Department is the “primary entity responsible for law enforcement issues” at the encampment but that the Adams administration “contracted with a private security firm.” “[O]n at least one occasion‚ the private security firm has impeded NYPD officers attempting to access the camp‚” the letter claimed.Lawmakers added that migrant tenants “are not subject to a basic background search during the intake process.”“All tenants‚ employees of Floyd Bennett Field‚ and surrounding residents deserve to know if they are living with migrants who have previous arrest records and/or convictions‚” the House Republicans wrote. The letter requested that the NPS provide lawmakers with “documents and communications” concerning the lease and the shelter’s intake process by April 11.Lawmakers demanded evidence that shows “how NPS has cooperated‚ or plans to cooperate‚ with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]‚” “how the migrant tenants at Floyd Bennett Field are screened‚” and “how NPS is preventing persons with a history of criminal conduct from residing at Floyd Bennett Field.”The letter was signed by Republican Representatives Westerman from Arkansas‚ Paul Gosar from Arizona‚ and Mike Collins from Georgia. New York Republican Representatives Anthony D'Esposito‚ Andrew Garbarino‚ Nick LaLota‚ Nicole Malliotakis‚ and Elise Stefanik also signed the correspondence. Neither the NPS nor Adams’ office responded to a request for comment from the Post.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Up to 30 squatters took over Atlanta man's property for years; he spent thousands to clean up estate‚ got sued for $190‚000

A Georgia man has been desperately fighting for years to remove dozens of squatters off his property in Atlanta. The property owner has faced major hurdles in trying to reclaim his land from the squatters‚ including spending thousands to clean up the estate and being sued for $190‚000. David Morris owns a nine-acre property in southeast Atlanta. He said that about 10 years ago‚ he started allowing four individuals to live on the property rent-free. However‚ uninvited trespassers began living on his land at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. "The people who were living on the land started having other people live on the land‚ their friends‚" Morris recently told WAGA-TV.Morris looked to the city of Atlanta for assistance in removing the squatters from his property. Unfortunately for the property owner‚ the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention imposed a halt to residential evictions starting in September 2020. The pandemic-mandated eviction moratorium in Georgia didn't end until October 2021.At one point‚ as many as 30 trespassers were living on his property. He noted that there are now eight squatters on his land. One of the squatters filed a $190‚000 counter-claim against him. However‚ the case was dismissed because they did not show up in court. About a year ago‚ Morris said the "entire medical staff" of the Stop Cop City activist movement was camped on his property.Morris‚ who was living in California at the time‚ said Atlanta police officers detained more than 20 activists fighting against the construction of a $90 million police training center in Dekalb County's South River Forest. This year‚ he was contacted by code enforcement demanding that he clean up his property. It has cost Morris thousands of dollars to clean up the mess left by squatters on his property."It's frustrating that I'm having to spend so much money. I spent $10‚000 on cleaning up garbage from vagrants‚" Morris said. He said he has gone through five dumpsters to haul away trash just in the past month. Morris noted that he obtained a writ of possession on Friday."A writ of possession is a court order a landlord must obtain when they seek to terminate a tenant’s right to possession and the tenant will not vacate the premises voluntarily‚" explained Sharon Lewonski – partner and real estate practice chair at the Culhane Meadows Law Firm in Atlanta.Morris said‚ "So‚ it will take‚ I am predicting‚ another thirty days before the marshals will call me to schedule a time for me to have five people here to move everything from there to the street." He added‚ "We're going to build just a big fence here and a gate‚ and put no trespassing signs."Despite all the issues with the trespassers‚ Morris said he intends to build affordable housing on his property for people in need. However‚ Morris said he won't begin the affordable housing project until all of the squatters are off the property. Like Blaze News? Fani Willis calls herself 'the face of the feminist movement‚' brags about her unrepentance — then sends Trump a message

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis hasn't learned her lesson. After an embarrassing spectacle that probed how Willis' personal decisions may have impugned her election interference case — resulting in Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee publicly scolding her — Willis is not done talking about her prosecution of former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants.At an Easter event in Atlanta on Saturday‚ Willis said the hearings over her potential disqualification did not slow down the case."While that was going on‚ we were writing responsive briefs‚ we were still doing the case in a way that it needed to be done. I don't feel like we’ve been slowed down at all‚" she told CNN."I do think there are efforts to slow down this train‚" she continued‚ "but the train is coming."Willis described those hearings as "noise" and a "distraction." Those hearings‚ however‚ were anything but a "distraction." Instead‚ they were vital to ensuring that the rights of the defendants in the election interference case are not being violated by a zealous prosecutor. Indeed‚ Judge McAfee by no means exonerated Willis. And yet‚ Willis bragged to CNN about not having done "anything that's illegal" — a low standard for a powerful prosecutor."I don't feel like my reputation needs to be reclaimed. Let's say for the record: I am not embarrassed by anything I've done‚" she told CNN. "You know‚ I guess my greatest crime is I had a relationship with a man‚ but that's not something that I find embarrassing in any way. And I know that I have not done anything that's illegal." Also during the interview‚ Willis described herself as "the face of the feminist movement" and the "face of women.""I feel more loved‚ actually. I've gotten a lot of support from women — that surprised me. I wasn't thinking that I was gonna be the face of women — women of every nationality‚" she said.Willis later added‚ "I'll tell you this: Especially African-American women‚ who will just say‚ 'We are so proud. You are such a great representative of us.' But I would be lying to say it's only African-American women. I have had Caucasian women‚ Asian women‚ Indian women — I didn't think I was the face of the feminist movement‚ but somehow I became it."I feel like women feel like women are treated differently when they're professionals. And they're proud to see someone that is strong and trying to do the right job‚ certainly flawed like every human being is flawed. My father has a saying‚ 'Only one perfect man walked the face of the Earth‚ and they crucified him‚'" she continued. "I am not a perfect human being‚ but what I am is a hard-working human being‚ and a human being that loves the community I serve and who understands this seat does not belong to me‚ it belongs to the people. And as long as I'm here‚ I'm going to try to do the job in a way that's honorable."With that view of herself‚ one wonders how her head fits through the courtroom door.Like Blaze News? 'Apocalypse Now'? Solar eclipse‚ 'Devil Comet' &; Red Heifer prophecy

On April 8‚ parts of the United States will experience a total eclipse — and a projected million people will travel to Texas alone to witness the state as it descends into total blackness. While many are excited to see the celestial event of a lifetime‚ the blackout could also affect how much solar power is generated. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is lightly sounding the alarm‚ saying the phenomenon will affect solar energy production in Texas as the eclipse passes from the southwest to the northeast. Texas is the second-largest producer of solar energy after California‚ harvesting 6% of its electricity from solar energy. Keith‚ Jeffy‚ and Kris Cruz remind Pat Gray that this eclipse‚ its energy consequences‚ and the April 8 “devil comet” could be a sign of the “end times.” The comet’s real name is 12P/Pons-Brooks‚ but it was given the nickname “devil comet” for its horn-shaped celestial body. “That feels very apocalyptic‚” Keith says while Gray notes that there’s a lot going on in the world that can be taken as “signs‚” making this idea feel not too far-fetched. One of these signs is the Red Heifer prophecy‚ which is the belief by some Jews and Christians that Texas red heifers are the key to rebuilding a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. In addition‚ while recently listing the motives for the October 7 attack on Israel‚ a Hamas spokesman accused Jews of “bringing red cows” to the Holy Land. “Signs of the apocalypse‚” Gray says. Balatro has dominated the year so far. Its extremely inventive take on both the roguelike genre and card games in general urges players to repeatedly go back for just one more round‚ creating the same kind of enduring interest that makes everything from Civilization 6 to Slay the Spire or Vampire Survivors so tough to put down. With the enormous success Balatro has enjoyed since it launched‚ we haven't expected it to be marked down at all‚ but‚ luckily‚ it's just received a discount that knocks a bit off its usual price from now until April 1.
