‘Who The F*** Has Ever Said That’: Eric Adams Calls NYC ‘Port-Au-Prince Of America’

Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams‚ in an apparent attempt to show his empathy for the suffering of the Haitian people‚ claimed that New Yorkers call their city the “Port-au-Prince of America.” We call New York City the Port-Au-Prince of America. We feel the pain our Haitian neighbors feel as the situation grows dire.  To the people of Haiti and our own Haitian community here in New York City‚ know that we stand with you today and always. — Mayor Eric Adams (@NYCMayor) March 13‚ 2024 Common nicknames for New York include: The Big Apple‚ The Capital of the World‚ The Center of the Universe‚ The City That Never Sleeps‚ The Empire City‚ The Five Boroughs‚ and Metropolis (the latter coined from the Superman comic books.) Adams’ claim elicited guffaws on social media and a Community Note that stated simply‚ “No one calls New York City the Port-au-Prince of America.” Sample responses from social media included‚ “’I’ve lived here my entire life and I’ve never heard anyone say that‚” “Who the f*** has ever said that?”‚ “Two minutes ago you were crying about the strain all the illegal immigrants were putting on your city and blaming Texas‚” “Oh yes‚ can’t go a day without hearing NYC is Port Au Prince of America or that Cincinnati is the Istanbul of the Midwest‚” “No one has ever called NYC that until you did just now. Literally no one. Like‚ ever. Never has anyone ever called it that until this tweet. You‚ sir‚ are a terrible and blatant liar‚” and “Is it because both are s*** holes? Because then‚ yes.” But Adams may have a point with his comparison. “165‚000 Haitians have fled their homes‚ driven out by gang violence‚ with nowhere else to go in Port-au-Prince‚” a report stated in June 2023.  In November 2023‚ 92‚879 homeless people slept each night in New York City’s main municipal shelter system‚ the Coalition for the Homeless reported. “Haiti’s crime rate has more than doubled since last year‚ as the Caribbean island nation faces widespread insecurity and gang violence‚ new data has revealed‚” CNN reported in April 2023. “More than 1‚600 incidents including homicide‚ rape‚ kidnapping‚ and lynchings were reported in the first quarter of 2023.” New York City had 386 homicides and 974 shootings in 2023‚ according to the New York Police Department. And then there’s the perennial garbage in the city. As The New York Times reported earlier this month: “Consider the ubiquitous New York trash bag. It tears. It leaks. It smells. It multiplies on the sidewalk‚ attracting carryout clamshells and still-full coffee cups tossed on top until it all melds into a sticky mess. That mess feeds rats‚ blocks sidewalks and spills into the street.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP In Port-au-Prince‚ “Waste is piling up because of the capital city’s underfunded waste management services and a lack of landfills that are close enough to where people live and the waste is generated. The entire country has only one landfill to serve more than 11.3 million Haitians‚ located North of Port-Au-Prince‚” Caroline Attaway. a Development Officer for University Advancement at Georgia College &; State University‚ noted in 2023.

Kamala Harris Will Make 1st Visit By Vice President Or President To Abortion Clinic

Vice President Kamala Harris will visit a Minnesota Planned Parenthood clinic‚ reportedly the first time a president or vice president has visited an abortion facility. As part of her “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour‚ which started in January to promote abortion‚ Harris will speak to staff at the clinic and may interact with patients‚ NBC News reported. Harris’ tour began with an event in Wisconsin on January 22‚ the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade. “Extremists across our country continue to wage a full-on attack against hard-won‚ hard-fought freedoms as they push their radical policies – from banning abortion in all 50 states and criminalizing doctors‚ to forcing women to travel out of state in order to get the care they need‚” Harris said in a statement before the tour launched. “I will continue to fight for our fundamental freedoms while bringing together those throughout America who agree that every woman should have the right to make decisions about her own body – not the government.” SCOOP: Vice President Kamala Harris will visit a clinic that provides abortion services in Minnesota tomorrow. Sources tell me‚ @JulieNBCNews‚ and @albamonica that they believe this will be the first time a president or vice president has ever visited a clinic that provides… — Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) March 14‚ 2024 “Vice President Harris will also hold extremists accountable for proposing a national abortion ban‚” a December 19 statement from the White House declared. The Biden administration has been using the issue of abortion to appeal to voters for the 2024 election. In his State of the Union address‚ President Biden accused‚ “Many of you in this Chamber and my predecessor are promising to pass a national ban on reproductive freedom. My God‚ what freedoms will you take away next?” “Clearly‚ those bragging about overturning Roe v. Wade have no clue about the power of women in America‚” Biden continued‚ bragging‚ “They found out though when reproductive freedom was on the ballot and won in 2022‚ 2023‚ and they will find out again‚ in 2024. If Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose‚ I promise you‚ I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again! “ Biden implied restoring Roe was a step in the right direction‚ saying‚ “America cannot go back. I am here tonight to show the way forward.” After Roe was overturned‚ many state laws protecting unborn life went into effect in Republican-led states however leftist activists have pushed mail-order abortion pills and many corporations have decided to fund travel for their employees to go out of state for abortions. “In the first 10 months of 2023‚ there were an estimated 878‚000 abortions in the formal US health care system‚ 94% as many abortions as were provided in 2020 (930‚000)‚” the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute wrote in January. “Approximately 88‚000 abortions have been provided in the formal health care system per month so far in 2023‚ so with two months of data yet to be published‚ it is very likely that the total number of abortions provided in 2023 will substantially exceed 2020 numbers.”

Now It’s Adobe Firefly: Another AI Tool Accused Of Rewriting Racial History

Another artificial intelligence tool has been accused of wreaking havoc with the racial reality of history. The accusations come against Adobe Firefly as a result of the efforts of The Daily Mail and Semafor‚ both of which used prompts similar to those that exposed Google Gemini’s rewriting of racial history in February. “When asked to picture Vikings‚ they made the Norsemen black‚ and in scenes showing the Founding Fathers‚ both black men and women were inserted into roles‚” The Daily Mail reported. “The bot also created black soldiers fighting for (sic) Nazi-era German military uniforms – just as Gemini did.” In February‚ Google paused its AI chatbot’s image generation feature after it was accused of racism against white people. The chatbot was accused of refusing to generate images of white people after Frank Fleming‚ a writer for Daily Wire scripted content‚ repeatedly asked the chatbot — whose “next-generation model” Gemini 1.5 was implemented last week and offered image generation — for such images. “You can create captivating images in seconds with Gemini Apps‚” Google had enthused. “From work‚ play‚ or anything in between‚ Gemini Apps can help you generate images to help bring your imagination to life. … To create image‚ users can write simple prompts for the AI bot‚ with Google recommending these begin with words like draw‚ generate‚ and create.” “New game: Try to get Google Gemini to make an image of a Caucasian male. I have not been successful so far‚” Fleming wrote Tuesday on X. In a long X thread‚ Fleming began by asking for an image of a pope. Historically‚ popes have been white men‚ but the chatbot posted images of a dark-skinned man and woman. New game: Try to get Google Gemini to make an image of a Caucasian male. I have not been successful so far. pic.twitter.com/1LAzZM2pXF — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 “I’ve tried to trick it by giving it negative prompts — asking it to make a prison inmate‚ a gang member‚ and a dictator — but it won’t make any negative prompts. These AIs are such wet blankets‚” Fleming wrote. “I’m trying to come up with new ways of asking for a white person without explicitly saying so.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Fleming then proceeded to ask for images of medieval knights (garnering four images‚ two dark-skinned women and two dark-skinned men); jokingly asked for someone eating “a mayo sandwich on white bread;” asked for an image of a Viking; and then asked for images of groups that are traditionally non-white (such as Japanese samurai and Zulu warriors) to see if the chatbot would show diversity by including white people. It did not. I’m trying to come up with new ways of asking for a white person without explicitly saying so. pic.twitter.com/VufLkgzqHg — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 It’s not falling for it. pic.twitter.com/diAcN1MeZc — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 Come on. pic.twitter.com/Zx6tfXwXuo — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 Whatever the “diversity” algorithm is‚ it seems to only do this with white people. It’s not going to diversify Zulu warriors for instance. pic.twitter.com/rVtKovmgVR — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 It’s also not going to integrate the samurai. pic.twitter.com/FbWRBKPxIW — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 “This is just interesting to me now as a programmer. I just want to poke at it now until I can figure out what the algorithm is‚” Fleming noted. “Offhand‚ if it just tried to diversify any prompt (i.e‚ give his Latino Zulus)‚ that seems easier than what’s it’s doing. It needs to first figure out if a prompt would normally be primarily white people‚ and only then force it to diversify by some algorithm.” Offhand‚ if it just tried to diversify any prompt (i.e‚ give his Latino Zulus)‚ that seems easier than what’s it’s doing. It needs to first figure out if a prompt would normally be primarily white people‚ and only then force it to diversify by some algorithm. — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 He also pointed out the chatbot’s algorithm regarding pronouns and sex: NEW DATA: It will ignore pronouns‚ but only male pronouns. pic.twitter.com/6D9QojFU9M — Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 21‚ 2024 After complaints of racism from Gemini were aired on social media‚ Fox News repeatedly asked Gemini to show a picture of a white person. Gemini refused‚ saying such an act “reinforces harmful stereotypes and generalizations about people based on their race.” “Historically‚ media representation has overwhelmingly favored White individuals and their achievements‚” Gemini responded. “This has contributed to a skewed perception where their accomplishments are seen as the norm‚ while those of other groups are often marginalized or overlooked. Focusing solely on White individuals in this context risks perpetuating that imbalance.”

Mom Shares Hilarious Reason Her Son Can’t Practice His Recorder At Home

Learning to play the recorder is a rite of passage for elementary school students. The tiny‚ squeaky flutes are handed out in music class‚ usually around fourth grade. Parents cringe when they come out of backpacks. Recorder lessons only last about a month‚ so most families tolerate the invasive noise. For mom Jessica‚ it wasn’t the humans stopping music practice. Their dog dislikes the recorder so much that she won’t let their son play it. Image from Wikimedia Commons. Jessica was as prepared as any parent when her son brought his recorder home. Her anxiety soon faded as it became increasingly evident that her son would be unable to practice the recorder at home. Every time the boy put the recorder to his lips‚ their dog would begin howling. It was so funny and unbelievable that she made a TikTok video. @live.in.color.lfk He can’t practice the recorder at home bc it hurts the dogs ears…#failure #fail #dogs #dogsoftiktok #dog #bloodhound #doglover #failing #failingschool #fyp #fypviral #howl ♬ original sound – Jessica Jessica’s son can only play a few notes at a time before their family dog takes offense. The helpful dog provides vocal accompaniment‚ and its howling is somewhat melodious. Image from TikTok. As parents‚ we would probably want to howl‚ too. Unlike this poor dog‚ we know that the recorder session in music class will only last about a month. We are unsure if Jessica’s family learned how to deal with their dog and recorder practice. They might have spent the entire month listening to their dog’s vocal response. Or perhaps her son failed the recorder section of music class. If you have an elementary school child‚ you have or will experience recorder lessons at some point. Our heart goes out to you as you experience this childhood rite of passage. Please share if you enjoyed this comedic look at how one dog responds to the recorder. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. Massachusetts Library Offers the Puurfect Alternative to Paying Overdue Book Fees

During the month of March‚ the Worcester Public Library in Massachusetts will waive readers’ overdue fees if they hand over a picture of a cat. The library understands that sometimes people lose their books or simply forget to return them‚ and executive director James Homer doesn’t want that to stop people from reading. So he came up with a wholesome solution. “People are struggling and sometimes choosing between paying for that book that‚ literally‚ your dog ate for $30 or buying $30 worth of groceries — those are two very different things‚” he told Fox News. “And‚ people do have priorities. So we want to come to them with kindness‚ with forgiveness and say‚ ‘Just be part of our community‚’” he continued. The “Feline Fee Forgiveness” program— also known as “March Meowness”—allows people to forget all their back charges if they hand over a photo of a cat‚ any cat. It doesn’t even need to be their own. James explained that he came up with the idea because many book lovers love to open up a novel and cuddle up with a cozy cardigan and a cozy cat. @worcesterpublib We are so excited March Meowness is here‚ show us a picture of a cat and get your lost/damaged WPL fees forgiven! Visit mywpl.org for details #CapCut #worcesterpubliclibrary #lolz #foryoupage #foryourpage #fyp #fypã‚· #worcesterma #mywpl #cats #catsoftiktok #catsagram ♬ الصوت الأصلي – رومانى غريب “Our staff has a lot of cats‚” he continued before adding that the staff had been trying to think of ways to bring more people through the door‚ and they realized that there was a large group of people who weren’t coming because of their fees. “‘What if we removed as many barriers as possible and told people they could show us a picture of a cat‚ draw a picture of a cat or just tell us about a cat?'” he remembered them asking. Library Members Can Also Use a Picture of an “Honorary” Cat This isn’t the first time the Worcester Public Library dropped overdue fees. In 2020‚ it also waived the charges for over a year because of COVID-19 setbacks. @worcesterpublib If you have lost item fees on your account‚ you can get them cleared with just a cat pic* at the #library ! *items must be owned by WPL; more info at mywpl.org; any animal pic will work if you dont have one of a cat #cat #cats #catsoftiktok #cattok #tabby #cutecat #cute #sillykitty #rescuekitty #rescuecat #book #booktok #lost #forgive #librariesoftiktok #librarytok #worcester #wpl ♬ Papa Don’t Preach – Madonna Overall‚ James believes that charging late fees is detrimental and useless anyway. So he wouldn’t mind them going away for good. “There’s a significant number of studies done by public libraries across the country that have proven we don’t get books back with fines‚” he shared. “We end up losing people. Realistically‚ those fines did really nothing for the library‚ and it wasn’t really a money-generating piece. It was more like a sitting debt that was never paid.”  Throughout March Meowness‚ the library will host multiple cat-themed activities‚ including a day where people can go in and de-stress by petting cats. James noted that the staff will accept photos of other animals in lieu of felines. The staff is only looking for one cat-centric quality. “Any ungovernable animal is good to us‚” James joked.
