A Wisconsin man who donated to Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) has been charged with making a bomb threat to the campaign office of her Republican challenger.  Police charged 72-year-old Joseph Quade with making terrorist threats on Friday after investigating a message sent to the Senate campaign office of Eric Hovde that said the office “might blow up‚” the Wisconsin State Journal reported. Hovde‚ a businessman‚ is attempting to unseat Baldwin in the November election. “Hey (EH)‚ you think your building might blow up tomorrow&;#63; I don’t think you should have any of your people come to work‚” said the threatening message‚ which was sent via a voice memo attached to an email‚ according to the criminal complaint.  Quade told police that he did not remember making the threat‚ but said he could get “a little political‚” and it was possible he sent the message‚ the Journal reported. The threat to Hovde’s office in Madison was sent in on April 4.  Quade has donated to Baldwin’s campaign on three separate occasions in 2023‚ according to Federal Election Commission data. His most recent donation came on December 29 and totaled $25. Previously he donated $25 and $50 to Baldwin’s campaign.  In a statement to The Daily Wire‚ Baldwin’s campaign announced it would be donating the contributions to charity. “Violence has no place in our politics and anyone who threatens violence has no place in our campaign. We will be donating this individual’s contributions to charity‚” said campaign spokesman Andrew Mamo. According to the complaint‚ Quade said he sometimes drinks too much and says things he doesn’t mean. If convicted‚ Quade could be sentenced to 3.5 years of combined prison and extended supervision‚ the Journal noted. Baldwin‚ who is seeking her third term in the Senate‚ won her last election by over 10 points.  The poll also showed former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden by two points. Trump was backed by 51% of registered voters while Biden was supported by 49%. Wisconsin is expected to be a battleground state in 2024 with the winner likely going on to win the presidency. The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee in July as they look to flip the state back after the 2020 election. 

Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr slammed President Joe Biden during an interview this week when explaining why he has decided to support former President Donald Trump this November. Barr made the remarks during a CNN interview with Kaitlan Collins when asked why he was supporting the former president as Trump. “It’s my duty to pick the person who I think would do the least damage to the country. And I think Trump would do less damage than Biden‚” Barr said. “I think all this stuff about a threat to democracy‚ I think the real threat to democracy is the progressive movement and the Biden administration.” Barr said that the threat specifically was Biden’s “support for the progressive agenda.” “Where are we losing our freedoms&;#63; How are our freedoms being constrained&;#63; They’re being constrained by the progressive government‚” he said. “And democracy‚ especially from the Anglosphere of democracies‚ the Five Eyes and so forth‚ the threat’s never been from autocratic government on the Right‚ a right-wing strongman —” Collins interrupted and asked Barr to give specifics of how Biden was threatening democracy. “The threat to freedom and democracy has always been on the Left. It’s the collectivist‚ socialist agenda. And that is where we’re losing our freedom‚” he said. “Parents are losing the freedom to control their children’s education. And people can’t speak their mind without losing their jobs‚ and things like that. This is worse than the McCarthy Era. Planned Parenthood will be spending millions of dollars to campaign against pro-life candidates in North Carolina for the 2024 election as Republicans attempt to gain control of the governor’s mansion.  Planned Parenthood‚ Planned Parenthood Votes‚ and Planned Parenthood Action PAC North Carolina said on Thursday that they would be spending $10 million in support of pro-abortion candidates. The groups also said they want to knock on over a million doors in opposition to Republican Lt. Governor Mark Robinson’s campaign for governor.  “Our goal is clear: To protect abortion access in North Carolina‚ we must ensure voters know abortion is on the ballot this year‚” said Emily Thompson of Planned Parenthood Votes.  Money will be spent on digital advertising‚ phone-banking‚ mailers‚ and efforts at college campuses‚ according to the Associated Press. Democrats have focused on making abortion a key issue in the 2024 election‚ hoping to drive out the vote of abortion supporters. North Carolina‚ a 2024 battleground state‚ was narrowly won by former President Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020. “As we head into November‚ all eyes are on North Carolina because abortion access across the entire region will be determined by the results of this election‚” Thompson told the New York Times earlier this week. “Our success is absolutely critical this year to protect abortion access and defend the bodily autonomy of every North Carolinian.” Last year‚ the Republican-controlled state legislature overrode Democratic Governor Roy Cooper’s veto of a law protecting unborn children at 12-weeks.  The law‚ called the “Care for Women‚ Children‚ and Families Act‚” limits abortions after 12 weeks‚ with exceptions for rape or incest until 20 weeks and fetal abnormalities until 24 weeks. The override required all Republicans in the state House‚ including a recently defected Democrat‚ to vote together.
