Can You Guess the Most Unpopular Leader in Congress&;#63;

It’s no secret that Congress is highly unpopular with the American people. For years‚ it consistently has ranked near the bottom of U.S. institutions. This month’s Gallup/Newsweek poll put its disapproval at 80%. But how about its leaders&;#63; Veteran pollster and TV host Scott Rasmussen‚ president of RMG Research‚ surveyed 2‚000 registered voters last week to see how Congress’ four party leaders stack up. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell‚ R-Ky.‚ the longest-serving party leader in the chamber’s history‚ fares the worst with a 58% unfavorable rating. His counterpart‚ Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer‚ D-N.Y.‚ comes in at 43%. On the House side‚ Speaker Mike Johnson‚ R-La.‚ the newest of the four congressional leaders‚ has a 31% unfavorable rating compared to 26% for Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries‚ D-N.Y. More than 1 in 5 voters (22%) say they never heard of Johnson‚ while nearly one-third (31%) say they haven’t heard of Jeffries. All four congressional leaders have a higher unfavorable rating than favorable. Rasmussen also asked voters about President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris‚ neither of whom received positive marks. Disapproval was higher for Biden‚ at 57%‚ compared to Harris‚ who has a 53% unfavorable rating. Biden’s numbers have hovered around the same mark for months‚ although they are slightly better today than a few months ago‚ according to Rasmussen’s tracker. The president ended last year with a 61% disapproval rate. Harris’ approval‚ meanwhile‚ cracked 40% for the first time in nearly a year. Among the congressional leaders‚ Johnson’s favorable rating is 29% compared to 31% unfavorable. Jeffries is viewed favorably by 24% of voters compared to 26% unfavorable. Schumer has a 32% favorable rating and 43% unfavorable rating. McConnell‚ who tops the charts with a 58% unfavorable rating‚ is viewed favorably by 23%. RMG Research’s survey of 2‚000 registered voters was conducted April 22 to 25 as Congress was considering a $95 billion foreign aid package. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points. Can Colbert Ignore ‘Genocide Joe’ Chants at DNC&;#63;

Can Colbert Ignore ‘Genocide Joe’ Chants at DNC&;#63;

Stephen Colbert is a master at compartmentalization. CBS’s “Late Show” host has spent three-plus years looking the other way as President Joe Biden bumbled through his first term. Colbert ignores the endless gaffes‚ senior moments and shocking inflation rates. Not to mention crazed tales of uncles eaten by cannibals.   BIDEN: &;quot;I made it clear to the Israelis — don't move on Haifa&;#33;&;quot; Haifa is a major city *IN* Israel. pic.twitter.com/BdNgoDlGkM — RNC Research (@RNCResearch) April 18‚ 2024   And‚ when a Special Counsel dubbed Biden “an elderly man with poor memory‚” Colbert spun the awful news to Biden’s advantage. That isn’t easy. His job as the Democrats’ late-night propagandist is about to get even harder. CBS has announced that Stephen Colbert will host his Late Nightshow from Chicago as the city plays host to the Democratic National Convention and will broadcast from the Auditorium Theatre in the Loop from August 19 to the 22nd. The decision makes sense on several levels. Colbert will be able to book major Democratic players. The comedian recently joined a Democratic fundraiser to boost President Biden’s re-election chances‚ making his commitment to the party official. “The Late Show” could get an energy boost from being in the belly of the political beast. Except this year isn’t going to be a typical DNC event. Pro-Palestinian protesters have been harassing Democrats for weeks in public over the Israel/Hamas war. The far-Left contingent has no qualms attacking mainstream Democrats and disrupting events. Some dubbed the Commander in Chief “Genocide Joe” for his quasi-support for the state of Israel.     We’re seeing violent protests across cities and campuses nationwide‚ and the movement seeks as much media attention as possible. And it’s getting louder. Politico‚ a liberal news outlet‚ echoed a phrase many are saying about the upcoming event. Democrats descend on Chicago as specter of ‘68 convention looms Here’s a refresher course from that tumultuous chapter in history which also took place in Chicago. As delegates flowed into the International Amphitheatre to nominate a Democratic Party presidential candidate‚ tens of thousands of protesters swarmed the streets to rally against the Vietnam War and the political status quo. By the time Vice President Herbert Humphrey received the presidential nomination‚ the strife within the Democratic Party was laid bare and the streets of Chicago had seen riots and bloodshed involving protesters‚ police and bystanders alike‚ radically changing America’s political and social landscape. That was without social media‚ YouTube and other ways to share information at the speed of a click. Another factor could weigh heavily this time ’round. Then-Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley had no qualms summoning both the police and the National Guard to keep the peace. They collectively failed. Today‚ blue cities like Chicago are far less interested in law and order. Violent‚ anti-semitic protests are the new norm in urban pockets and academia. Those breaking the law often go unpunished. That only emboldens them. What happens when that energy is left more or less unchecked&;#63; What impact will it have on the national mood‚ let alone the November elections&;#63; Will Biden’s poll numbers suffer even greater drops as a result&;#63;     Should the authorities attempt to keep the peace it might enrage the party’s base. Plus‚ these protesters have no qualms about breaking the law. Kobi Guillory‚ a spokesperson for the Coalition to March on the DNC‚ says protests will happen in August whether or not organizers are able to secure permits. The 1968 debacle followed a stunning change of leadership. President Lyndon B. Johnson announced he was withdrawing from the race in March‚ replaced by Vice President Hubert Humphrey. Will President Biden‚ diminished by age and sagging in the polls‚ be swapped out before the convention begins&;#63; More importantly for pop culture watchers‚ can Colbert look away as the city he temporarily calls home is roiled in chaos&;#63; Early projections expect north of 30‚000 protesters to greet Team DNC. Will he or his audience be in the mood for garden-variety “clapter” if chaos envelops the nearby convention&;#63; What will Colbert say about the far-Left protesters‚ a group that will never vote for President Donald Trump or his fellow Republicans&;#63; Can he cover his ears while protesters chant‚ “Genocide Joe has got to go&;#63;” Colbert has kept his political head in the sand for three-plus years. It may be impossible to do the same come Summer.

'A political tool': The recent TikTok ban could still help Democrats in the 2024 presidential election

The New York Post reported that the bipartisan effort to get TikTok to divest from its Chinese-owned parent company ByteDance contained something that could help Democrats in the 2024 presidential election.The bill‚ which passed last week as part of a $95 billion foreign-aid package‚ has given TikTok nine months to break away from Chinese-owned ByteDance or face a complete ban in the United States. However‚ the timeframe can be extended by up to a year from the president.Though the bill was a bipartisan one‚ it appears that Democrats will be able to use TikTok to leverage voters throughout the 2024 presidential election. The social media juggernaut has long been used by Democrats to reach out to young voters. President Biden's team has actively engaged with a large contingent of TikTok users to spread their political messaging. And the Biden-Harris campaign TikTok account‚ called Biden-Harris HQ‚ has more than 300‚000 followers.It appears Democrats wanted the possibility for extending TikTok's use beyond the presidential election‚ given that an earlier bill that suggested banning TikTok was shot down that only allowed the president a six-month extension.Republicans have now insisted that the Democrats will take advantage of the change leading up to the election. &;quot;They will utilize it as a political tool. it is very helpful to [Democrats]‚” Rep. Jeff Van Drew said. “There are millions of young people who go on it and are very faithful to it.&;quot;“They wanted to get that extra bite at the apple. There is no reason they couldn’t divest within six months.”The Post mentioned that a second Republican congressman suggested “a theory that some may call conspiracy . . . that Joe Biden wants his Chinese friends who influence ByteDance to have a November opportunity to help him out.”Other House insiders suggested that the real issue was in the Senate. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer — who supported a TikTok ban — faced steep pushback from Senator Maria Cantwell‚ a fellow Democrat.Cantwell stated: “I’m very happy that Speaker Johnson and House leaders incorporated my recommendation to extend the ByteDance divestment period from six months to a year. As I’ve said‚ extending the divestment period is necessary to ensure there is enough time for a new buyer to get a deal done. I support this updated legislation.&;quot;Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here&;#33;

Meta AI is free‚ but it cannot be trusted: Report

Meta has recently released a large language model‚ Llama 3‚ that powers &;quot;Meta AI‚&;quot; which is a chatbot that has been implemented into several of the company's social media apps. But some in the tech world have noted that it is free to use‚ which‚ unfortunately‚ reflects the quality of the artificially intelligent bot. Tech Crunch reported that the chatbot &;quot;tends to regurgitate a lot of web search results‚ and it doesn't excel at anything‚ but hey — the price is right.&;quot;Meta AI can currently be accessed online for free by navigating to Meta.ai‚ on Instagram‚ WhatsApp‚ and Facebook. Not only has this AI been made available‚ it has replaced the traditional search box featured on all of these platforms.Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly said that he is expecting Meta AI to be &;quot;the most used and best AI assistant in the world.&;quot;Meta AI is the company's response to OpenAI's ChatGPT‚ which flipped the world on its head in 2022. Similar bots have also been developed‚ such as Microsoft's Bing AI and Google's Gemini.The New York Times reported that Meta bot's image generator was built to compete against Adobe's Firefly‚ Midjourney‚ and DALL-E. Unlike some of these other apps‚ Meta has made their AI available for free within their social media platforms. The Times reported that this represented the &;quot;most aggressive push yet from a big tech company to bring this flavor of artificial intelligence — known as generative A.I. — to the mainstream.&;quot;Zuckerberg took to Instagram on Thursday‚ writing: &;quot;We believe Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that you can freely use.&;quot;Brian Chen — the author of the Times piece — suggested that it would be best for users of Meta AI to approach it &;quot;with caution‚&;quot; noting that it &;quot;makes lots of mistakes when you treat it as a search engine.&;quot;Some have suggested that it is best to just use the bot for fun‚ including &;quot;express[ing] yourself when chatting with friends.&;quot;One Meta spokeswoman said that since the technology is new‚ it may not garner the most accurate responses. Despite this flaw‚ there is currently no way to shut off Meta AI while inside of Meta's social media apps.Tech Crunch concluded: &;quot;Meta has positioned its AI as a first layer for casual questions‚ and it does work. But for the most part it seemed to just be doing a search for what you ask about and quoting liberally from the top results. And half the time it included the search at the end anyway. So why not just use Google or Bing in the first place&;#63;&;quot;Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Emily Blunt says algorithms 'frustrate me‚' adds it cannot determine 'what will be successful'

Hollywood star Emily Blunt — who recently played Robert Oppenheimer's wife in Christopher Nolan's recent film &;quot;Oppenheimer&;quot; — has suggested algorithms should not determine the success of a film of television show. Deadline Hollywood reported the Oscar nominee joined Ryan Gosling for a Vanity Fair Italy cover story‚ where Blunt communicated her frustration with algorithm-driven decision making in the arts.The report noted that Nolan's &;quot;Oppenheimer&;quot; was the sort of film that an algorithm would likely discourage‚ even though it was a massively successful‚ three-hour film about a prominent figure during World War II. The film grossed almost $972 million at the box office‚ making it among the most successful films in history.“Some new things frustrate me: algorithms‚ for example‚” Blunt said. “I hate that fucking word‚ excuse the expletive&;#33; How can it be associated with art and content&;#63; How can we let it determine what will be successful and what will not&;#63;”“Let me explain with an example‚” she continued. “I was in a three-hour film about a physicist‚ which had the that impact it had – the algorithms probably wouldn’t have grasped it. My hope is that ‘Oppenheimer’ and similar projects are not considered anomalies‚ that we stop translating creative experience into diagrams.”Gosling was quick to jump in‚ adding: “You can’t beat an algorithm at its job. And this‚ paradoxically‚ forces me to be more human‚ to choose ‘handmade’ projects like ‘The Fall Guy‚’ which is based on personal experiences‚ our footprints and our stories‚ which we poured into the characters.”Nolan — who has made a name for himself as an film auteur who can still get lots of funding from studios — said: “I’ve just made a three-hour film about Robert Oppenheimer which is R-rated and half in black-and-white – and it made a billion dollars. Of course I think films are doing great.&;quot;“The crazy thing is that it’s literally the most successful film I’ve ever made. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and in the United Kingdom it’s my highest-grossing film. So I feel great about the state of the movie business‚ based on my own experience. But also based on seeing other movies break out‚ seeing audiences come back.”“The audience’s desire to be surprised‚ to see something new‚ to see something they did not know they wanted‚ that’s always been the most powerful force in theatrical film‚” Nolan added. “So it was wonderful to see that this year.”This development comes as Hollywood production companies appear to be investing in films based on books‚ comic books‚ or other intellectual property. Nolan's &;quot;Oppenheimer&;quot; was based on a biographical book called &;quot;American Prometheus‚&;quot; written by Kai Bird.
