Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ― George Orwell, 1984 If synchronized tongue bathing was an Olympic event, the lickspittles of the corporate media would win gold for their slavish treatment of Kamala Harris. The instant she became the Democrats’ Anointed One, the party’s ever-obedient and loyal corporate media adjunct leaped forward to hide her radical past, protect her from scrutiny, and repackage her as an unstoppable political phenomenon who is destined to save America from another Trump presidency. But who is she? We are told that as the district attorney of San Francisco and attorney general of California, Harris was a hard-nosed, tough-on-crime prosecutor. But, in her 2019 memoir, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, she proclaimed, “America has a deep and dark history of people using the power of the prosecutor as an instrument of injustice.” Maybe that’s why as district attorney and attorney general she proved to be a progressive social justice warrior who bypassed the state’s three strikes law, slow-walked prosecutions, and refused to bring death penalty cases — even when the murder victim was a police officer. Harris’s Record on Crime is Less Than Comforting As district attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011, Kamala shielded illegal migrants from federal immigration authorities. Of San Francisco, her spokesperson declared, “We are a sanctuary city, a city of refuge, and we always will be.” Consistent with those remarks, Kamala initiated “Back on Track,” a jobs placement program that allowed non-violent offenders to avoid jail and have their criminal records expunged by undergoing job training. She made this program available to illegal immigrant offenders even though they could not be legally employed. On more than one occasion, graduates of the Back on Track program reoffended. For example, in 2008, one Back on Track success story, illegal immigrant Alexander Izaguirre, robbed and assaulted 29-year-old Amanda Kiefer while she was walking with friends in San Francisco. Izaguirre took Amanda’s purse and then, for good measure, used an SUV to run her down and fracture her skull. Another beneficiary of Kamala’s sanctuary policy was Edwin Ramos Umaña, an illegal alien and MS-13 gang member. Although he had been convicted of crimes including robbery and assaulting a pregnant woman, he remained in San Francisco safe from deportation. Then, on June 22, 2008, Ramos murdered Anthony Bologna, a grocery store manager, and his two small sons as they were driving home from a family barbecue. For the next three years, Kamala’s office slow-walked the case while Bologna’s wife and surviving children hid out in witness protection. It wasn’t until Kamala left the district attorney’s office that the case finally made it to trial and Ramos was convicted. Also in 2008, the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board criticized local authorities for using taxpayer funds to fly convicted illegal migrant drug dealers back to their homes in Honduras instead of turning them over to the feds for deportation. “District Attorney Kamala Harris does not emerge unscathed”, the editorial board wrote. “Her prosecutors should have known that convicted drug dealers were being allowed to bypass deportation. If they did raise objections, they were ineffective. If they did not, then they were either unclear on the law or not looking out for the best interest of the city.” These are but a few examples of Kamala’s feckless, reckless, and downright illegal prosecutorial policies and actions. Add to that her advocacy of defunding the police and efforts to raise bail money for the rioters who burned and looted cities following the death of George Floyd, and you will begin to get the true picture of a radical social justice warrior who has done her best to undermine the rule of law. Kamala Harris’s Record on the Border Is No Better And the disaster at the Southern border? Without any apparent embarrassment, she’s claiming — without a contrary peep from the media — that border security was not her job. But, three years ago, this exchange occurred when NBC’s Lester Holt interviewed Kamala about the crisis at the southern border: Holt: “Do you have any plans to visit the border?” Harris: “At some point…we’re going to the border. We’ve been to the border. So this whole thing, we’ve been to the border.” Holt: “You haven’t been to the border.” Harris: “And I haven’t been to Europe. [laugh] I don’t understand the point that you are making.” In June 2022, on NBC’s Meet the Press, she unequivocally lied, “We have a secure border.” Then she said, “We must have a pathway to citizenship” for those who illegally cross the border. The point here is that in all of her public pronouncements, before she was designated the Democrat presidential candidate, she never denied having any role or responsibility for maintaining security at the border. But now, she and her media adjunct claim that she was never the “border czar” or had a role in facilitating the influx of the millions of illegal immigrants. This despite the fact that, on March 24, 2021, President Biden tasked Kamala to “lead our efforts” in working with Mexico and Central America to stem the flow of illegals crossing the southern border. Biden made this appointment even though in 2018, as a U.S. Senator, Kamala had advocated abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), doing away with private ICE detention facilities, reducing the number of ICE detention beds, and then dismissed the construction of the border wall as “a stupid use of money” and President Trump’s “vanity project“. Also in 2018, in a Senate hearing, she attempted to compare ICE agents with the Ku Klux Klan. In 2019, she supported decriminalizing illegal border crossings. On July 25, 2024, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution “strongly” condemning “the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border.” The resolution states that “since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office” there have been “over 9.7 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide”, “2 million known gotaways who evaded the United States Border Patrol,” and “multiple illegal aliens with terrorist ties” released into the United States. The resolution also states that “the Biden administration, under Border Czar Harris, flew at least 400,000 illegal immigrants into the country”. The foregoing is but a quick thumbnail of Kamala’s border record on illegal immigration. Despite her denials and the efforts of the media to absolve her of any responsibility for the border disaster, her record makes clear that President Harris would keep the border floodgates open. After all, what better way to create an electorally decisive block of Democrat voters than to import millions of illegal immigrants, give them free government benefits and citizenship, and then register them to vote into perpetuity for their benefactors? This taxpayer-funded subversion and fundamental transformation of American society is underway, and Kamala is one of its primary architects. But don’t expect the corrupt corporate media to address this history-making event. They know their assignment and, consequently, from now until Election Day will continue to run interference for Kamala and do their best to hide her radical past and beliefs from the voters. Organizers of the Paris Olympics had an ideological agenda. They wanted to use the Games to make a statement about the need to stave off rising average global temperatures. The event, they vowed, would be “historic for the climate.” The actions the organizers pursued, however, inadvertently demonstrated the futility of many efforts aimed at stopping climate change — as well as how such actions merely get in the way of efficiency and success. (READ MORE: Vatican Denounces Olympic Opening Ceremony) For example, organizers debuted a system at concession stands where spectators would pay a 2 euro deposit to receive a reusable plastic cup that they could use for pop and other drinks. However, Coca-Cola was unable to install pop machines in many stadiums and event locations, so concession stands followed a policy of pouring Coke from individual bottles into plastic cups. The system was inefficient, and the amount of plastic used multiplied as a result. A Climate-Friendly Olympic Games? Not So Fast. Organizers also sought to build the Olympic Village without air conditioning. They invested heavily in a geothermal system that would use pipes to cool athletes’ rooms and bragged far and wide about their plan to not provide air conditioning to athletes in the name of saving the planet. When other nations expressed concerns about how a lack of air conditioning could affect their athletes’ ability to perform, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, would not back down, saying, “I can guarantee you that we will not change course and that there will be no changes to the programme.” She said that adding air conditioning units would be “inconsistent” with the effort to make the Games sustainable. Many nations refused to go along with the lack of air conditioning, understanding that their athletes would not reach peak performance if they were unable to get a full night’s sleep. Many countries, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, and the United States, shipped in air conditioning units or purchased units in France. The result was that thousands of air conditioning units were purchased and shipped just for the Games. The Olympic Village was also built with a high amount of wood in the name of sustainability. Usually, there are concerns about using so much wood in tall buildings because of the potential for fires. “The consequences of a failure in a timber building are potentially much more serious than in a concrete or steel building,” explained José Torero, a professor at University College, last year. But Olympic organizers say that the use of wood in the Olympic Village will “change the viability of tall wood-frame buildings in France with insurance companies,” according to Slate. They believed that the elevated fire risk was worth the chance to lower global temperatures. (READ MORE: France Shows the World How to Ruin the Olympics) Famously, French Olympic organizers also attempted to force Olympians into a plant-based diet, with one slogan for the Games being “Veni, vidi, veggie” — “Come, see, veggie.” The organizers’ goal was to serve twice as many “plant-based foods” as the average French person eats. The chief executive of a pro-vegetable activist organization, Jasmijn De Boo, told BBC that this goal was “very appropriate for an event in the global spotlight.” In Europe, environmental activists have honed in on promoting vegetable-based diets as a means to combat global warming. For example, the group Food Retaliation recently threw pumpkin soup at the Mona Lisa to demand the “right to healthy and sustainable food.” Athletes were not happy with the emphasis on plant-based foods given the necessity of animal-derived protein for athletic prowess. Complaints abounded that insufficient meat and eggs were being provided to athletes, particularly for breakfast. Much to their chagrin, organizers were forced to rush in more meat to the athletes. Several other environmental efforts demonstrated the futility of making only minor reductions in the Olympics’ carbon emissions. Some European athletes were encouraged to travel by train rather than plane to the Games, even as millions descended on Paris by air travel. Paris officials also outfitted a brand new aquatics center, which was built specifically for the Games, with seats made of recycled plastic. Officials also purchased carbon offset credits, which studies have shown do nothing to decrease the carbon emitted into the atmosphere. Considering that the Olympics involves the travel of millions and the construction of numerous large-scale facilities, its carbon footprint is inevitably large. The resources consumed and emissions produced by such extensive human activities are going to be substantial, no matter what tricks organizers implement to chip away at them. The only way to really mitigate the resource usage of the Olympics would be to forbid spectators or cancel the Games entirely. Yet despite the stupidity of expensive actions that make meaningless — and sometimes harmful — reductions in carbon emissions, it appears that the Paris Olympics has started a trend of making the Games an occasion for host countries to virtue-signal their commitment to lowering the global temperature. (READ MORE: Ça ira!: Opening Ceremony at the Concierge Was More Than Just Bad Taste) At a news conference this weekend, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, whose city will host the Summer Olympics in 2028, said that her goal is to host a “no-car Games.” Though many are skeptical of the traffic-choked city’s ability to host such a Games, officials are doubling down and advertising 28 transportation infrastructure projects aimed at achieving that goal. Whether the construction of dozens of new transportation projects will be better for the environment than driving athletes around in buses for two weeks remains unclear. But, to global elites and climate activists, what will matter will be Los Angeles organizers’ ability to expel as little carbon as they can in August 2028. Host cities would be much better off if they focused on the tangible and impactful goal of reducing the cost of hosting the Olympics. This would ensure that their residents benefit to the greatest extent from hosting the Games. A 20 percent decrease in carbon emissions relative to a previous Olympics, on the other hand, accomplishes very little.
