Portland Antifa live-streamer convicted of charges related to rioting at Proud Boy protest

A live-streamer with Portland Antifa was convicted Wednesday on charges related to rioting in 2021 at a park in Clackamas County, Oregon. 33-year-old Alissa Eleanor Azar was found guilty of felony rioting and guilty of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, but the jury was hung on a charge of unlawful use of mace. 'Families deserve to feel safe in our parks.' The riot involved dozens of Antifa members and supporters clashing with Proud Boy members after a U.S. flag was burned by the leftists. Clackamas County Deputy District Attorney Josh Cutino argued that Azar was not acting as an independent journalist as she claimed but was participating in the rioting. He cited videos from the riot and also her social media posts, where she included herself as part of Antifa. "Some of these events got insanely brutal but people continued to defend our community by any means necessary," wrote Azar in one post. "The refusal to back down regardless of how intense things got by antifascists has resulted in the violent fascists to virtually f*** off and leave Portland." Cutino pointed out that Proud Boy members were also being prosecuted over the rioting. Azar also runs an OnlyFans account, which led to her children being taken away after her ex-husband argued in court that her political activism and online sex work had led to unsafe conditions for the children. Andy Ngo of the Postmillennial reported that other Antifa members attended the court hearings and allegedly tried to intimidate the jury members in hopes of causing a mistrial. He reported that Azar began crying as the verdicts were read. “Violence and rioting will not be tolerated in Clackamas County,” said District Attorney John Wentworth. “Law enforcement officers and prosecutors worked diligently to bring this case to trial because families deserve to feel safe in our parks.” Azar is scheduled for sentencing on Sept.9. Halide turns your iPhone into a classic camera with this update

Popular iPhone camera app Halide just introduced a new feature in its latest update. With Process Zero, your photos will no longer use computational photography, artificial intelligence, or machine learning—you'll just get a beautiful, film-like natural photo. Interestingly enough, this announcement comes a day after the Made By Google event, where the company highlighted more ways to use AI in photos, so you can tweak almost anything in every shot you take with artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Halide's new feature turns your iPhone into a classic camera. The developers say this mode "produces photos with more detail and allows the photographer greater control over lighting and exposure," as it develops photos at the raw, sensor-data level instead of applying a filter. To make the process even more realistic, Process Zero photos come with digital negatives, giving users control over exposure after the fact. Halide says this camera mode works best in the daytime or with mixed lighting rather than at night. https://x.com/sdw/status/1823767526955999449 Lastly, this new feature is available to every iPhone that runs Halide on iOS 17, which means you don't need an iPhone 15 Pro Max to take advantage of it. The developers say Process Zero is a new choice in addition to the standard iPhone photo processing system in Halide, so users can choose between the best shots depending on the situation. In a blog post, Halide developers explain that this feature was created because users want "control over algorithms." Instead of taking several shots to create an image, Process Zero offers a single-shot process. This is why, if parts of your image aren't properly exposed, the app doesn't have any algorithms to fix that. According to the developers, Process Zero results in a single 12-megapixel shot that is less saturated, softer, grainier, and quite different from what people see on most digital phones. Each shot also includes a true Bayer RAW file. For the rest of this week, Halide is offering memberships for $11.99 per year. Prices will go up to $19.99 next week. You can find it on the App Store here. Larger Than Life: England’s Chalk Figures Explored

The Pagan heritage of England is still very much felt in the modern age and can even be seen - if one looks at the right places. England’s chalk figures, a series of large geoglyphs carved into the hillsides of the English countryside, represent a unique and intriguing aspect of that ancient pagan heritage. These figures, which include both human and animal shapes, have been created by removing the overlying soil to reveal the white chalk bedrock beneath. They vary in age, some dating back thousands of years, while others are relatively recent. From the enigmatic Uffington White Horse to the more contemporary Whipsnade Lion, these figures offer a fascinating glimpse into the artistic and cultural expressions of different periods in British history.
