Jodie Sweetin Recalls Old-School Products Used To Achieve Stephanie’s Curls For ‘Full House’
Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber hosted Full House’s hairstylist Frankie Bergman on their How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast, and they reflected on the many hairstyles featured in the classic. Back in the ‘80s and ‘90s when the show ran, hairspray was one hair product people could hardly go without.
Jodie’s Stephanie Tanner and Andrea’s Kimmy Gibbler had their hair in deep curls during the series’ early stages but later sported the low-effort straight look. There were takes that required unusual hairstyles, including the “Shape Up” episode where Andrea had to wear red scraggy hair.

To achieve her curls at home, Jodie’s mother, Janice, would use a sponge roller and a jar of Dippity Do hair gel every night, which the child star did not enjoy. The 42-year-old joked about still hearing the hair rolling papers, adding that they reminded her of cigarettes.

Andrea, on the other hand, did not need much styling as her hair was naturally curly, however, she underwent keratin treatment to have her permanently straightened for later seasons. Jodie also enjoyed her latter years with straight hair as she did not have to do much to maintain it.

Jodie Sweetin’s infamous hairstyling moments on ‘Full House’
Jodie said the constant makeovers and styling turned her hair into straw, as they applied hot worm rollers that had to stay in her hair for up to seven hours. She also claimed that the process ripped out her baby hair slowly.
Despite the annoying hair prep, Jodie had some styles she fell in love with, such as the one from season four where she wore a blue feathered dress. As for Andrea, her red wig from the same season gave her a bad rash, which was likely a reaction to the synthetic material or too much dye.
