She Thought Her Boyfriend Was Ghosting Her ‘Til She Discovered an Accident Erased His Memories

A Hermosa Beach, CA couple, Cody Bryant and Haley Woloshen, have quite the love story. The two met while on a trip to Hawaii and found out they lived close to one another back in Los Angeles. They hit it off and planned to continue getting to know one another. That’s when Cody took a trip to Spain. RELATED: Nurses Surprise Teen With Hospital Dance After Brain Surgery Forces Her To Miss Homecoming Haley Thought Cody Had Ghosted Her Haley posted a TikTok video on her account detailing everything that happened between them. After she dropped him off at the airport for his trip, she heard from him a few times while he was in Spain, and then it seemed that he had ghosted her. In reality, Cody was in an accident while riding a moped in Ibiza. He was struck by a car and sustained a traumatic brain injury, ended up in a coma, and lost many of his memories. This included the time he had spent with Haley before his trip to Spain. Although they had planned for Haley to pick Cody up from the airport, she went online to see if she could figure out what happened with him after not hearing from him in time. It was through her searching that she found a GoFundMe account that explained that he had been in an accident and was in a coma. At First, Cody Didn’t Really Understand He Had Been in an Accident Cody returned to California in September of 2022 and went to rehab at Rancho Los Amigos Rehab Center in Downey. There, he was treated for hemiplegia, which is a one-sided paralysis that is common after TBIs. "When I woke up, I was incoherent for quite a bit of time. I didn't really understand I had been in an accident," Cody told People. "Even when we made it back to California there were many times where I would look at my mom and ask ‘What am I doing here?' I thought I just had a broken leg." It had to have been pretty scary for Cody, not totally understanding what had happened and not being able to have all of his memories. When it came to Haley, although he didn’t have any memories of her, he began to realize how much she meant to him by reading text messages once he got his phone back. RELATED: Man Marries The Love Of His Life Days Before Going Into Surgery For A Brain Tumor Two Months After The Accident, They Started Talking Again Two months after the accident, the two started talking again. At first, they were just friends, and Haley helped some with his recovery. But “feelings started to bubble up,” and the two started dating in March 2023. Cody’s early goal was to return to his apartment, which he shared with three roommates. It had to be fitted for some handicapped accommodations and had a lot of stairs. Thankfully, he also had a strong network of friends and family helping him as well as his mom, Connie, who was always by his side. "Every day, she and I would just walk up and down the hallways to try to figure out how to get me to walk well again,” Cody says. "We would walk up and down stairs as much as I could handle, which wasn't much, but I was determined to move back to my house." He was finally able to move back in in November of 2022. His home is a few blocks from Haley’s. Healing His Brain Has Been More Challenging Cody has been recovering well physically. He and Haley have even been able to travel a bit. They went to Guatemala and did a two-day hike to Acatenango Volcano. They also visited Yellowstone. RELATED: Star Of Happy Days Posts Support for Wife Getting Scan for Brain Tumors Although his physical recovery has been going well, healing his brain has been more challenging. Cody posts about his journey on his TikTok account, “codys.comeback.” In one of his videos, he shows himself at a wedding and how events can be difficult because he gets overstimulated and needs to step away from everyone. They have overcome a lot and continue working together, not only in their relationship but also in Cody’s recovery. Haley stated on an episode of TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, “It’s made us appreciate the little things a lot more,” talking about all the couple has been through. We wish the happy couple many blessings and encourage Cody on his recovery journey. Don Lemon Files Lawsuit Against Elon Musk

Don Lemon, a former CNN anchor, has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and X, alleging fraud and breach of express contract after the abrupt cancellation of his show on the platform.  The show was axed following a tense interview between Lemon and Musk in March. Here’s a highlight: Elon Musk absolutely DESTROYED Don Lemon in his interview. Here’s a snippet. Watch it. pic.twitter.com/0V93RooPAy — Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) March 14, 2024 The Verge reports: The complaint — filed on August 1st in the Superior Court of California for San Francisco County — claims that after advertisers fled Twitter in the wake of Musk’s takeover, Musk and other X executives began courting Lemon with the goal of publicizing “a partnership between X and Lemon” that would associate “the X brand with Lemon’s good name, likeness, identity, and reputation” in order to “rehabilitate” the social platform in the eyes of advertisers. Lemon entered an exclusive partnership deal with X in January 2024, after months of negotiations, according to the complaint, which claims Musk initially contacted Lemon in June 2023 asking him to join the platform. The complaint claims Lemon “expressed his reservations … due to the ongoing controversies surrounding the X platform.” In response, Musk allegedly told Lemon that he would have full control over the work he produced — even if Musk or others at X didn’t like it — and that there was “no need for a formal written agreement or to ‘fill out paperwork.’” That December, Lemon met with X executives — CEO Linda Yaccarino and Brett Weitz, at the time X’s head of content, talent, and brand sales — for dinner. According to the complaint, Lemon once again expressed his hesitancy to enter into a partnership with the platform. Weeks after the meeting, Weitz texted Lemon, “You’re set up for a lot of $$ this year,” the complaint claims. “Lemon said in a lawsuit that Elon Musk had agreed to pay him $1.5 million annually to produce shows exclusively on X,” X Daily News noted. According to the suit, Musk and X agreed to pay Lemon $1.5 million (with $200,000 paid up-front within three business days and the remainder paid in quarterly installments) under the pact. Per the complaint, the deal also included additional incentives including: the option to renew the one-year deal two times with the same terms, at Lemon’s sole discretion; 60% of the gross ad revenue that X received for programmatic advertising generated from Lemon’s content on X; performance threshold bonus payments (for example, $250,000 for reaching 4 million followers and up to $1 million for reaching 10 million); $500,000 in advertising credits on X; 10% of the net revenue that X received once it exceeded $350,000 for content creators that Lemon referred to X for a period of 48 months; and that all content created by Lemon originating on or distributed on X was wholly owned by Lemon. Lemon did not have a signed agreement with X. According to the lawsuit, Lemon had a phone call on June 16, 2023, with Musk, who asked Lemon to enter into an exclusive partnership deal with X. Per the suit, “Lemon expressed reservations about entering into a partnership with X due to the ongoing controversies surrounding the X platform. In response, and to induce Lemon to enter into an exclusive partnership deal with X, Musk represented to Lemon that he would have full authority and control over the work he produced even if disliked by Defendants, and that there would be no need for a formal written agreement or to ‘fill out paperwork.’” BREAKING: DON LEMON SUES ELON OVER CANCELED X DEAL Don Lemon is suing Elon, alleging X reneged on a $1.5M annual deal after a contentious interview. Appeals Court Sides With Texas In Battle With Biden Admin Over Border Buoys

A federal appeals court sided with Texas on Tuesday, saying that the state does not have to remove a water buoy barrier placed in the Rio Grande to deter illegal immigration. In its decision, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Biden administration failed to provide evidence that the barrier needed to be removed, vacating a lower court’s order. The Justice Department had filed a lawsuit against Texas accusing it of violating federal law after it placed a chain of floating buoys along a stretch of the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass.  “Cognizant of our role as a court of review and of the reality that a preliminary injunction is an exceptional remedy, we hold that the district court clearly erred in finding that the United States will likely prove that the barrier is in a navigable stretch of the Rio Grande,” Circuit Judge Don Willett wrote. “We cannot square the district court’s findings and conclusions with over a century’s worth of precedent, which on a fair and faithful reading renders inapplicable or unpersuasive the evidence on which the district court relies.” Willett said the lower court sided with the DOJ, saying that the barrier threatened human life and safety, impaired navigation, and violated the Rivers and Harbors Act. He said that neither justification was supported by the evidence.  The decision specifically criticized the district court attributing the barrier to drownings in the river.  “The district court again set aside reason by inferring that the barrier caused the deaths of two people found nearby—one at the southern end of the barrier and the other three miles upriver — from news articles that said nothing of the sort,” Willett wrote. In a dissent, Circuit Judge Dana Douglas wrote that the lower court’s decision was backed by the evidence. “The district court relied on all the evidence discussed herein to find that the balance of hardships favors the United States. It considered the threat to navigation and federal government operations on the Rio Grande, as well as the potential threat to human life the floating barrier created,” he wrote. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Republican Governor Greg Abbott celebrated the decision. “We fought to keep these barriers in the water, and with the Fifth Circuit’s decision, that is exactly where they will remain,” Abbott said. “This fight is far from over. Texas will continue to defend our constitutional right to secure our southern border to keep our state and the nation safe.” Further litigation on the barriers is expected to begin on August 6.

Chinese Swimmer Smashes World Record, Throws Shade At Aussie And American Rivals

China’s Pan Zhanle won a decisive victory in the men’s 100 freestyle on Wednesday, beating the rest of the field at the Olympic Games in Paris by a full second and setting a new world record — and immediately threw shade at two of his competitors, Kyle Chalmers (AUS) and Jack Alexy (USA). Pan finished the race in 46.40, knocking 0.4 off his previous world record time set earlier this year and the world championships in Doha, Qatar: “Today I finally beat them all. In such a challenging pool, I broke the world record. This is a tremendous performance and a great start for team China.” But a short time after the race, he told reporters that some of the other swimmers had been less than friendly towards him. “When I finished the 4×100 freestyle relay the other day, I said ‘hi’ to Chalmers, but he totally ignored me. Also [Jack] Alexy from the U.S. When we were training, our coach was standing by the poolside and he turned in such a way that the water splashed right onto the coach. I felt he looked down on us a little,” Pan said in an interview. Chalmers, who won gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and had hoped to repeat that victory in Paris, finished just over a second behind Pan for the silver medal — but he did not recall any instance in which he had given the Chinese athlete the cold shoulder. “I find it a bit weird. I gave him a fist pump before the relays … and then my focus went to my teammates and my own racing. We had a laugh together at warmdown last night, but no issues from my end,” he said. Alexy, who finished seventh in Wednesday’s final, did not comment on Pan’s claim. WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — MATT WALSH’S EXPOSÉ ON DEI As ESPN reported, “the Chinese swim team has been under intense scrutiny” leading up to the Paris Olympic Games after it was revealed that a number of athletes had tested positive for banned substances in 2021 but were still allowed to compete in the Tokyo Games. China has repeatedly blamed “contaminated food” when athletes test positive for banned substances. For his part, Chalmers did not question Pan’s Wednesday victory or his new world record: “For him to produce a 46.40 and break the world record in the Olympic final is incredible. I do everything I possibly can to win the race, and guess everyone’s doing the same as I am and staying true to the sport and integrity of sport. I trust that he’s done everything he possibly can to be there. And he deserves that gold medal. And I did everything I possibly could to challenge for that gold medal.” American distance swimmer Katie Ledecky weighed in on the use of performance-enhancing substances before the Olympics, saying, “I hope everyone here (in Paris) is going to be competing clean this week. But what really matters also is: Were they training clean? Hopefully, that’s been the case. Hopefully, there’s been even testing around the world.”
