That's why the recent surgical separation of conjoined twin boys with fused brains in Brazil is so incredible. The twins, Bernardo and Arthur Lima, are almost 4 years old and have never seen one another's face. They've spent their lives conjoined at the top of their heads, facing opposite directions. Born as craniopagus twins (joined at the cranium), their brains were also fused together, making their separation extremely complex. According to the BBC, they've been cared for at the Instituto Estadual do Cérebro Paulo Niemeyer (Paulo Niemeyer State Brain Institute) in Rio de Janeiro for the past two and a half years.Surgeon Noor ul Owase Jeelani is the founder of medical charity Gemini Untwined, which funded the surgery. He helped lead the team of nearly 100 medical workers who worked for months to prepare for the boys' separation, which was one of the most complicated of its kind. Jeelani told the BBC that it was the first time surgeons in separate countries practiced by operating in the same "virtual reality room" together, wearing VR headsets."It's just wonderful," he said. "It's really great to see the anatomy and do the surgery before you actually put the children at any risk. You can’t imagine how reassuring this is for the surgeons. To do it in virtual reality was just really man-on-Mars stuff."Watch Jeelani explain how they prepared for the procedure:Prior attempts to separate the twins had been unsuccessful, making the surgery even more challenging due to scar tissue. However, after multiple surgeries that took more than 33 hours collectively, the boys were successfully separated in June.“It was without a doubt the most complex surgery of my career,” said neurosurgeon Gabriel Mufarrej of the Paulo Niemeyer State Brain Institute, according to EuroNews. “At the beginning, nobody thought they would survive. It is already historic that both of them could be saved." Jeelani told the BBC that the boys' heart rates and blood pressure were "through the roof" for four days after the surgery—until they were reunited and touched hands. According to Reuters, Bernardo and Arthur are the oldest twins with fused brains to be successfully separated. The most precious document in existence is the Constitution of the United States of America. This document spells out how the USA works, how the governance of the USA works, and what the rights of our citizens are and are not. It was created in the late 18th century by the Founders, including Madison, Jefferson, Hamilton, and Monroe. This, surely, is not what our Fathers intended. It’s what people with very different goals and needs want — and are getting. It was in several articles. Article One spelled out how the President was to be ELECTED by the citizens of the USA. He or she was not to be appointed, not to be inherited, but to be elected by the free and fair balloting of the citizens. Over the centuries it was changed drastically so that non-whites and women and non-rich could vote and be elected. These were immense changes. Article Two specified how the powers of the government were entrusted to an elected legislature. At first this was somewhat restricted. Non-whites, women, persons who had been slaves, persons without money, persons who had been prisoners, persons who had been in a rebellion, were not able to vote or serve in the legislature. This too was completely changed so that by now, the national legislature, the Senate and the House of Representatives, could be voted on and/or in by almost anyone. The power of the national legislature, also known as the Congress, was largely limitless. It was, however, limited by other parts of the Constitution. Article Three specified a national or federal judiciary. It took many decades, but eventually the powers of the federal judiciary came to be seen as largely without limits. The federal judiciary could resolve disputes between and among the states, interpret federal and/or state laws, and read out whatever was confusing about state and/or federal powers under the Constitution. These powers also were virtually limitless. One thing the courts could NOT do, as far as I am aware, was usurp the powers under Article One to elect a President. That could be done only by the citizens/voters via the electoral college. If the courts could decide who got to be President, then the whole plan of having the USA be a Constitutional democracy was gone. Instead, we now have a Republic based upon the machinations of lawyers and courts. That was never contemplated by any of the Founders, as far as I am aware. But this is exactly what has happened in New York vs. Trump. By a long, tendentious sleight of hand maneuver, the Democrat Party has seized control of the electoral process. So long as there are aggressive district attorneys and power-hungry jurors anywhere in our America there is no more Constitutional process for electing a President. The New York Post reported Sunday that the Biden regime has “terminated without a decision on the merits” of asylum claims by applicants who “don’t have a criminal record or are otherwise not deemed a threat to the country.” “This is just a massive amnesty under the guise of prosecutorial discretion,” Andrew Arthur, a former immigration judge who now works for the Center for Immigration Studies, told The Post. “You’re basically allowing people who don’t have a right to be in the United States to be here indefinitely,” he added.
