Blake Shelton Responds To Criticism That He & Gwen Stefani Pre-Taped Their Performances At AMAs

Did you miss the AMA Awards this year? That’s okay… Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani did too. This past Monday night, the AMAs – hosted by Jennifer Lopez – aired on CBS, and the awards show seemed to sneak up on a lot of people. Having it on Memorial Day likely played into that, but the good news is that those that didn’t watch it didn’t miss out on much. Heck, even most of the artists nominated for awards, and even those performing, weren’t there on Monday night. The biggest viral moment from the night was probably the side-eye heard round the world that Shaboozey gave Megan Moroney. It seems as though all of that has since been resolved, but country music fans are still upset with how the country categories unraveled. Post Malone and Beyoncé (two non-country artists) won Favorite Male and Female Country Artist respectively, and other winners included the likes of Dan + Shay for Favorite Country Duo (gross) and Beyoncé winning Favorite Country Album with Cowboy Carter. It’s a fan voted awards show… so I don’t know if we can trust the fans anymore. Another point of contention for the evening was when Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton “performed,” when in reality… their performances were pre-taped. A number of fans that were actually in attendance to see the AMAs in person felt ripped off, as Shelton and Stefani were billed as live performers. It sure looked live for those watching on TV, but as you’ll see in this video below, Stefani’s “Swallow My Tears” was filmed prior to the actual show itself: @alywinder LIKE WHATTT… why would they say performing live when they aren’t even here?? #gwenstefani #ama #livetv #dissapointme #taylorswift ♬ original sound – Aly Winder No Gwen Stefani in sight. And her husband, Blake Shelton, also pre-taped his rendition of “Stay Country or Die Tryin’.” Once again, the AMAs stated that this performance happened “live from the 2025 American Music Awards,” when in reality, the country artist just recorded the performance on the same stage that the AMAs was happening on that night. Take a look: @savewithfelix @Gwen Stefani performance was pre recorded as well #amaawards #blakeshelton #gwenstefani #jlo ♬ original sound – Save with Felix Though it doesn’t make much of a difference for those watching at home, that’s a shame for those that paid their hard-earned money to physically go to the AMAs expecting to see some of their favorite artists. At the same time, it’s extremely common for award shows to pre-tape certain performances, especially when they rely on elaborate sets that cannot quickly be arranged during a commercial break. Blake Shelton evidently started hearing the noise about he and his wife doing pre-taped performances, which led him to take to X late last night to attempt to clear the air on why they did not perform live: “Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pre-taping our performances for the AMAs. We came and performed when the show asked us to… really nothing else to say.” Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pretaping our performances for the AMA’s. We came and performed when the show asked us to.. Really nothing else to say. — Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton) May 28, 2025 Hmm… passing the blame over to the American Music Awards? If that’s true, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were just doing what they were asked to do. Apparently the AMAs didn’t want to mess with the often hectic scheduling and stage flipping that multiple live performances can bring on. But if you are going to pre-tape artists that you advertise as “live performers,” maybe give a heads up to the fans? The post Blake Shelton Responds To Criticism That He & Gwen Stefani Pre-Taped Their Performances At AMAs first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Dolly Parton Is Still Hoping To Have Tea With Kate Middleton After She Initially Turning Her Down For Not Promoting Her Rock Album

Dolly Parton Is Still Hoping To Have Tea With Kate Middleton After She Initially Turning Her Down For Not Promoting Her Rock Album

Dolly Parton is headed across the pond. In 2023, the “9 to 5” singer was asked to have tea with Kate Middleton, but had to decline. Dolly, who met Queen Elizabeth several times over the decades, added that she wants to make a point to get back and have tea with Princess Kate one day: “This time, Lordy, I even got invited to have tea with Kate. And I felt so bad… I couldn’t even go! They had all this stuff set up. I thought it was very sweet and nice of her to invite me and one of these days I’m going to get to do that – that would be great.” The best part came when Parton revealed the exact reason that she had to turn the invitation down aside from her busy schedule. “She wasn’t going to promote my rock album, so I had to say no.” HA! If Kate was not too offended by Parton’s joke surrounding her rock album, it appears the time for her to have tea with the princess might be on the horizon. Although, isn’t it funny how deals like that work? “Come on my shows” “Can I plug my album?” “No….” “Ok, pass then.” But in a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Parton shared that she is headed to England in the fall. The information was shared after the Huffington Post asked Parton if she would ever collaborate with Megan Markle on something cooking- and lifestyle-related, given that Parton recently launched a line of frozen foods. “Well, never say never, you never know where you’re gonna go. In fact, I’m going to go to England in October, and I’m going to actually, hopefully, get to have tea with the Queen.”  Parton shared that Queen Camilla is involved with her Imagination Library and founded “The Queen’s Reading Room,” a similar literary charity and book club. “So I’m going to go over there and kind of really rub elbows with the royalty. So yes, anything is possible. I never say no to anything.” Parton also told the Huffington Post that she is ready to put her feelings about the rock album promotion aside on this visit to England to get to know the princess better. “I don’t know if that offer still stands, but if she wants me and I’m there, I’ll be right there with tea bag in hand.” Parton also told the outlet that her previous offer to take Prince William, Kate, and their three children to Dollywood still stands. Parton said it would be a “royal treat,” and I agree with that statement. Dollywood is a theme park that meets royal standards, and it would be so cute to see Prince William and Kate’s children riding the various themed rollercoasters and rides in the Pigeon Forge park. Now that’s some content that I’d like to see. Dolly Meets Queen Elizabeth II Dolly Parton has always respected the royal family, sharing a tender note when Queen Elizabeth II passed. Dolly met the Queen in May 1977, when she was overseas on her world tour and performed at the King’s Theatre for the Royal Variety Show as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. However, Dolly didn’t know she would be part of it until she got across the pond. According to The Tennessean, her team didn’t tell her she would be performing for the Queen until they were on their way to London, and Dolly says: “They kept it a surprise from me until I was on the flight over.” She added that she got butterflies right before she walked out on stage: “I was a little bit nervous – on the brink of being scared. But when I walked out on stage, I was at ease. The crowd was just great.” I can’t blame Dolly. Nerves would have hit me like a ton of bricks if I were performing for the Queen. However, she recalled that despite her nerves before hitting the stage, when her team told her the reason for their stop in London, she was overjoyed, and it took her back to her youth in East Tennessee, when she pretended to be a princess or queen. “When they told me on the plane I was appearing in front of the queen, I just jumped up and down telling everyone. It’s just one of the biggest thrills of my life. When I was a little girl I grew up in a world of kings and queens and princes and princesses in fairy tales. Now I was going to meet one.” Little Dolly would have been so proud of her in that moment. pic.twitter.com/xhNebrGD64 — Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) September 9, 2022 The post Dolly Parton Is Still Hoping To Have Tea With Kate Middleton After She Initially Turning Her Down For Not Promoting Her Rock Album first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Morgan Wade Announces New Album, ‘The Party Is Over (recovered)’

I can’t wait. This morning, Morgan Wade announced a new album The Party Is Over (recovered), which is her fourth studio album and follows the release of Obsessed last year. This project includes 11 songs that she wrote solo, though quite a few of them were written before Wade signed her major-label deal and have been “recovered” here with all-new versions. She picked through older songs that still speak to her today, and many of them she has been playing on tour and have become fan-favorites even though they were never cut or put on an album. Morgan shared the news in a post on Instagram, thanking fans for all of their support over the years and explaining why she wanted to go back into the archive and include many songs that have meant a lot to her, and to some fans, for a long time: “A lot of you have been here for a long time listening and supporting me. That means some of you were here before I ever put out my debut record. You heard songs that were demos and early recordings that no longer exist. I wanted to put these songs back into the world and give them life again. Showcase that chapter of my life, and throw in some new songs too. While these songs might be new to a lot of you, they are old friends to some of you — definitely old friends to me. Hope you enjoy and thanks for everything. New album out August 1st, available to pre-order now! Title track ‘The Party Is Over’ out today.” She toes the line so well between pure country production and heavier rock influences that she grew up on, and that is certainly not an easy thing to do in country music today in terms of doing it well and staying true to both art forms. Her brilliantly honest songwriting is always at the focus of each song and project, so this is sure to be a must-listen album and I am really looking forward to it. Morgan is nothing if not consistent, and she has been putting out great music for years now, while touring the country and bringing her twangy, powerful vocals to fans across the country and world. She is such a bright spot and talented artist within the genre, and have always really appreciated her willingness to really lay it all out on the table and authentically connect with music lovers from many different genres.
