Dabo Swinney Got LSU Head Coach, Brian Kelly, Mixed Up With Former Florida Georgia Line Member, Brian Kelley, In Hilarious Story

Classic college-coach-country-artist mix up. Believe it or not, we’re only a few weeks away from college football being back in season. I’m certainly excited to fire up my TV on a Saturday and do absolutely nothing while a full slate of college football games commences. But we still do have some offseason to get through before those beautiful, lazy Saturdays are actually here. And one of those offseason days provided a Dabo Swinney story that’ll make you wonder how the Clemson head coach is considered one of the smartest coaching minds in the game. Dabo Swinney has been the head coach of the Clemson Tigers since 2009. In the nearly 17 years that he’s been at the helm, he’s won plenty, and he’s told some hilarious stories during his time with the media. The one he told earlier today might be the one that tops them all, and it features a mix up between Florida Georgia Line and LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly. Already see where I’m going with this? Swinney was apparently on vacation down in Florida when his sister-in-law informed him that Brian Kelley’s wife had a store down close to where they were staying. Dabo, who likely thinks about college football 24/7, immediately thought she was talking about LSU head coach Brian Kelly… while she was actually referring to former Florida Georgia Line member Brian Kelley. What a difference one “E” can make, eh? That’s where the confusion and hilarity began: “My sister-in-law is saying, ‘Hey, Brian Kelley has a place, his wife has a gift shop right on the corner there in Grayton Beach.’ I’m like, ‘Oh really, that’s pretty cool.’ I had no idea. So we go there and I walk into the store. Me and Kathleen walk into the store, Kath buys something because she’s trying to support Mrs. Kelley, or whatever we’re doing. I’m walking around and I go out and they’re like, ‘Yeah, he’s gonna have a concert in the back.’ I walk out the back, there’s a little stage with some fake grass (in a) small little area. It says, ‘Brian Kelley performing live on this day’ or whatever. I’m going, ‘Freaking A, Brian Kelly can sing and play? I didn’t know that.'” Dabo was so surprised that one of his college coaching colleagues had this “secret life” as a performer that he started taking pictures of everything. Then he gathered it all up with a text message and sent it to Brian Kelly – the LSU head coach. By the time he found out there’s another Brian Kelley, it was too late: “I send all this to Brian Kelly. Then, the guy who was with my brother, he walks over because Kath said something (like), ‘I just can’t believe that Brian Kelly is playing, this is really cool. You know we play them in the opener?’ to the guy and he’s like, ‘What?’ As it turns out, there’s another Brian Kelley.” Yes Dabo, there is another Brain Kelley. This is the Brian Kelley’s whose wife owns a gift shop on the corner in Grayton Beach: And this is the Brian Kelly who Dabo thought everyone was talking about the entire time: Same name, big difference. The good thing is that Dabo Swinney got everything squared away eventually. He went on to say that LSU head coach texted him back saying, “Just can’t get away from Brian Kelly” or something of that nature, probably trying to be as polite as possible while also being equally confused as to why Dabo would send him those texts and pictures. The Clemson coach swears that he’s heard Florida Georgia Line’s music, but just wasn’t aware that Brian Kelley was formerly a member of that group. And Dabo says that he hasn’t cleared up the story with Brian Kelly (no “E”) until the very moment he spoke about it in the press conference: “I’ve even heard their songs, but I don’t know all these people’s names. I have no clue. Kathleen goes, ‘Babe, it’s the Brian Kelley that’s a singer for Florida Georgia Line.’ And I went, ‘What? I’ve done fired off all these pictures to Brian Kelly.’ He’s probably over there going, ‘What the hell? This guy’s an idiot. What is this guy doing?’ He doesn’t know this, he’ll know this now.” They’ll have plenty of time to talk it over and laugh about it all when the Clemson Tigers and the LSU Tigers help kick off the college football season on August 30. It’ll be a high-stakes matchup right off the bat, and until then, you can pass the time by listening to this Dabo Swinney story over and over (and over) again: Dabo Swinney got the wrong Brian Kelly. In a hysterical clip, Swinney mistook Brian Kelly, LSU’s head coach, for Brian Kelley, who is best known for his work with Florida Georgia Line. This clip is seriously a must watch. Swinney and Kelly will have a laugh in August. pic.twitter.com/V6WVERuKyd — Grayson Mann (@gray_mann21) July 15, 2025 The post Dabo Swinney Got LSU Head Coach, Brian Kelly, Mixed Up With Former Florida Georgia Line Member, Brian Kelley, In Hilarious Story first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Mark Leibler - The Zionist Jew initiated the divisive 'Uluru statement of the Heart'

UTL COMMENT:- FFS!!! Of course....it just had to be. For those that don't know..... The Uluru Statement from the Heart is a proposal by First Nations Australians for constitutional and structural reforms to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It calls for a First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution and the establishment of a Makarrata Commission for treaty-making and truth-telling. So this was what led to the divisive 'The Voice' referendum!!' Which fortunately lost however the State Govts are now independently pushing for their own 'Voice' BS...

I taught preschool in a migrant town. Here is the number one myth I wish people understood.

It seems that around every election season we hear about undocumented immigrants and how they're simultaneously stealing our jobs and collecting government benefits. This idea is common in farming communities and the surrounding areas since these communities tend to be rural with scarce job opportunities and poor wages. It's a phrase I heard most of my adult life and that I eventually learned was simply a myth to garner votes or support for certain policies. For a few years, I taught "More at 4," a preschool program for low-income families in a small town in North Carolina. The town is full of fields with rows of crops growing everything from tobacco to strawberries. Old school busses packed with watermelons and trucks sprinkling tobacco leaves on the two-lane highway was the norm to see on my sleepy drive to work. Agricultural communities are usually heavily populated with migrant farm workers and their families. Leafy harvest: Tobacco leaves hang to dry.Photo credit: CanvaEvery spring and summer, the fields were lined with men and women picking fruit and vegetables with a speed that would rival a Marvel superhero. Every fall, my classroom would fill with adorable brown faces who would giggle at my Spanish when I clumsily told them to wash their hands. It always came out sounding more like a spell from Harry Potter than a directive in a language I didn't speak. Jedi was one of those students, a 4-year-old who was usually full of smiles until she wasn't.My assistant teacher and I noticed a few months into the school year that Jedi was not as talkative and starting to sit by herself. This little girl loved to chat and play in the dramatic play area, pretending to be the mom while directing other kids in Spanish. Sitting alone was unusual for her, and we quickly realized that it was more than an upset stomach when she started crying every time it was time to eat. The language barrier made calling her mother tricky, but with the help of one of our bilingual students we made it work and quickly learned upsetting health news. Children learning the alphabet with teachers.Photo credit: CanvaMost of Jedi's molars were rotting and broken. Her mother explained through our 4-year-old translator and the Google Translate app that the little girl's teeth had been hurting for some time. She had been giving her over-the-counter pain medication in the morning, hoping it would get her through the day. That worked for a while, but the cavities got worse over the months. Since our program was for low-income families, nearly every child had Medicaid, so at first we didn't understand why this sweet girl hadn't seen a dentist. It was during that conversation that we learned the children of migrant workers don't qualify for Medicaid or any other federal government assistance. Jedi didn't have a social security number and her birth certificate was from Guatemala. In order to receive Medicaid, which would've fixed her broken, infected teeth, she needed to be a U.S. citizen. Child upset in colorful classroom.Photo credit: CanvaI watched helplessly as the girl's mother cried, explaining to a child no older than her own—who then translated the message to me—that they didn't know what to do. We promised to find a way to help the family and went to work. That afternoon, during regular pick up, Jedi's father came to the door with cash in hand. He was covered in sweat and dirt from the field. The worried dad explained that he didn't have a lot of money but could pay to help his daughter. After a brief back and forth with the translator app, he put his money away and left. My assistant and I worked for a couple of weeks calling government agencies, angrily telling them it wasn't fair that they wouldn't help. She was just four years old and we were having to feed her applesauce, pudding, and yogurt because she couldn't chew. We called every agency we could think of and then went down the list of every dentist in town. We explained the situation over and over, hoping someone would do something. Little one's big feelings on display.Photo credit: CanvaJust when we were about to give up, we found a children's dentist who agreed to evaluate her teeth. He determined that her teeth were infected, several needed to be capped, and a couple of the broken ones needed to be pulled. This amazing dentist made sure she left with antibiotics and an appointment that same week to start the work. The dad was able to pay him with cash on a weekly basis until it was paid off, and Jedi got her smile back. Her first days back at school were like show-and-tell. She would take bites of food and then break into a wide grin while showing off her silver caps. That sweet girl would never know the hours we spent on the phone or the anguish her parents went through while trying to get her care. At the time, Jedi's mother was pregnant with what turned out to be a baby sister, also without care. Young patient getting a dental check-up.Photo credit: CanvaWhile some states have expanded their Medicaid to include undocumented children and pregnant people, federally they're not covered, according to Healthinsurance.org. Currently there are only six states that expand state-funded Medicaid to undocumented people and 14 states that expand it to undocumented children who live in families that meet the income requirement. But even in the states that offer some form of state-funded Medicaid to undocumented individuals, the restrictions include income, and in some states, age.In Illinois and New York, the only undocumented people that qualify for state-funded Medicaid are those under the age of 18 and those over the age of 65, though in New York undocumented pregnant people are also eligible. Washington state has an enrollment cap for undocumented individuals over 18 while California, Oregon, and Minnesota have no restrictions outside of income. This means that the vast majority of undocumented immigrants are not eligible to receive government benefits. Immigrants who are in the U.S. lawfully are eligible for benefits under certain circumstances. Pregnant woman cradling bellyPhoto credit: CanvaAccording to KFF, "In general, in addition to meeting other eligibility requirements, lawfully present immigrants must have a 'qualified' immigration status to be eligible for Medicaid or CHIP (Table 1), and many, including most lawful permanent residents or 'green card' holders, must wait five years after obtaining qualified status before they may enroll. They may enroll in Marketplace coverage and receive subsidies during this five-year waiting period.""Some immigrants with qualified status, such as refugees and asylees, as well as citizens of Compact of Free Association (COFA) nations, do not have to wait five years before enrolling. Some immigrants, such as those with temporary protected status, are lawfully present but do not have a qualified status and are not eligible to enroll regardless of their length of time in the country. Individuals with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status are not eligible for Medicaid or CHIP, and implementation of a Marketplace coverage expansion for them remains subject to ongoing litigation," KFF adds. While there is often concern around undocumented people getting more benefits than the average struggling American citizen, it simply isn't true. It's a myth meant to evoke feelings of scarcity and unfairness to sway people to support policies they may otherwise feel uncomfortable with.

Friends struggling with procrastination held a 'forcing party' and it's oh so brilliant

Some people have self-discipline and agency coming out their ears and rarely if ever procrastinate on anything. Others, not so much. Whether it's driven by habit, fear of success or failure, lack of motivation, ADHD, or something else that disrupts the flow from "I need to do this thing" to "I'm now doing this thing," procrastination is a challenge in many people's lives. You know what you need to do—why can't you just do it? When you struggle to get things done, the cycle of self-loathing and shame that follows can make you feel worthless and alone. But some friends on X came up with a simply brilliant solution that not only solves the procrastination problem, but the feeling alone problem as well. — (@) A user named Tyler wrote, "Sometimes you need a coach or therapist, and sometimes you just need someone to invade your life and force [you] to book the dr's appointment, finish the writing assignment, submit the job application, etc. Does this sort of person exist for hire?" Lots of people resonated with that idea, but Tyler's friend Crystal responded, "Can we do it for each other?" Tyler said Crystal would be good at this and said he was thinking of throwing "a force-on-another-to-do-stuff party."And so they did. — (@) The idea was to gather together a small group of friends who have things they need to get done and create a space where they could "force" one another to do them. Turns out, it was a brilliant plan. Crystal and Tyler both in the middle of their party, with Crystal saying it was "going well" and that they'd be doing more and Tyler sharing:"So far:- A passport has been filed for- An inbox has been zero'd- A personal website has been created& more. I recommend this format!" — (@) People loved the idea, with many people asking if they could join. Tyler encouraged people to host their own. You don't have to have a bunch of friends to do it—it could literally just be two people. As long as whoever is there is on board with what it is, the number of people doesn't matter. And if the idea of "forcing" rubs you the wrong way, what you call the gathering doesn't matter, either. One person suggested some alternative names, such as Git 'er Done Party, Just Do It Party, and Not So Bad Party. You could call it a Procrastinator Party or Motivation Madness. A similar idea has been called Admin Night, only that is specifically referred to as "not a party." But why can't it be both? Give the invite a tagline, even: Get stuff done, then have fun. — (@) The concept of accompaniment to do things you don't want to or are struggling to do is an ADHD strategy known as "body doubling." Having someone in the same room with you doing something productive, even if it isn't the same thing you're doing, is often enough to get a person with ADHD to focus on the task they need to complete. The Forcing Party is a similar idea, perhaps with a bit more direct accountability built into it. It's a lot harder to put off doing something when you're at a party dedicated to doing exactly that thing. — (@) If you're saying, "But why should I have to have a 'forcing party' just to get myself to do things that aren't even that difficult to do?" and feeling down on yourself for it, just stop for a sec. Humans aren't meant to do everything in isolation. We are social creatures who live in communities of people. Even those of us who like to be alone still benefit in various ways from the assistance and accompaniment of others, and if this is an area where being with your fellow humans helps you be the productive person you want to be, why question it? Keep it simple. Contact a few friends and see if they have things they've been putting off doing that you could all do side-by-side one evening or weekend day. Call it whatever kind of party you want. See what they say. Chances are, they all have something they've been procrastinating on as well and would welcome the opportunity to get together and get it done. Thanks for the inspiration, Tyler and Crystal!

“The Year Of The Flood”: A Dozen “1,000 Year Floods” In 3 Days Were Quickly Followed By Historic Flooding In New York And New Jersey

2025 has certainly turned out to be a year that has been filled with chaotic natural disasters.  In particular, we have been hammered by one major flooding event after another in recent weeks.  A couple of days ago, I wrote about the “1,000 year storms” that hit Texas and North Carolina.  As you will see below, those storms produced a dozen “1,000 year floods” in just 3 days.  Even seasoned meteorologists were stunned by that.  And then on Monday we witnessed terrifying flooding in New York and New Jersey.  So is even more flooding in our future? According to WPLG-TV meteorologist Michael Lowry, 2025 is “the year of the flood”, and he has noted that so far this year the National Weather Service has “issued more flood warnings than any other year on record”… “2025 has been the year of the flood,” said WPLG-TV meteorologist Michael Lowry in a July 15 email to USA TODAY. “The tragic July 4th flooding in central Texas – the deadliest flash flood in at least 50 years in the U.S. – punctuated what’s been an especially bad year for flooding across the country.” In fact, “so far in 2025, National Weather Service offices have issued more flood warnings than any other year on record dating back to 1986,” Lowry said. All throughout history, there have always been floods. In fact, there have been times when particular areas have been flooded quite dramatically. But we have never seen anything quite like this. In 2025, it feels like the entire country is getting deluged. A “1,000 year flood” is supposed to be rare, but we just witnessed a 3 day period when Texas and North Carolina both experienced multiple “1,000 year floods”… More than a dozen “1,000-year floods” in just three days. That number has stunned even veteran meteorologists. From Texas to North Carolina, entire communities were swamped by what should have been once-in-a-lifetime events. But experts say these floods are no longer freak accidents. They are a symptom of a much bigger shift. A “1,000-year flood” does not mean it only happens once every thousand years. It means there is a one in one thousand chance of that kind of rainfall happening in any given year. Still rare, but clearly not impossible. And lately, not even uncommon. Even our top experts are struggling to explain what just occurred. For example, the following comes from an Accuweather article entitled “How did we get a dozen ‘1,000-year floods’ in 3 days?”… For home insurance purposes, a 100-year flood means that there is a 1 percent chance of that flood happening in any given year at your home’s location. A 1,000-year flood would be a 0.1 percent chance, so in 1,000 years, you’d expect 1 such flood to occur. But statistics don’t dictate when during that period the floods will occur, and the floods could happen in rapid succession without violating the rule. These flood statistics are based on how often the nearest USGS river gauge (there are about 7,500 nationwide) would exceed a certain amount of water flowing past it, based on records at those stations that go back as far as 175 years. I think that what they are trying to say is that what we just witnessed is highly unusual. And highly unusual events just continue to happen. In fact, on Sunday morning the water level in one river in Texas suddenly surged “more than 30 feet in just a few hours”… Officials in Kempner are on high alert after the Lampasas River surged more than 30 feet in just a few hours Sunday morning, following heavy overnight rainfall upstream. “We received an alert this morning, around 4:30, that major flooding was possible and headed our way,” said Captain Todd Burkett with the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department. According to Burkett, the river’s rise was swift and dangerous. “The water kept rising as we were out surveying the bridges,” he said. “It had rose over two foot in 20 minutes.” And then on Monday, New York City was hit by the second-wettest hour that it has ever experienced… The Big Apple experienced its second-wettest hour in history as torrential rain drenched the city overnight — with terrifying footage showing straphangers trapped on subways by the freak flash flooding. “New York City picked up a hair over 2 inches last night — 2.07 inches to be exact — making it the second wettest single hour ever recorded in the city,” FOX Forecast Center meteorologist Christopher Tate told The Post on Tuesday of the rainfall recorded between 6:51 p.m. and 7:51 p.m. in Central Park. “It was bested only by the nearly 3 inches of rain that fell in New York City during the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in 2021.” By now, you have probably already seen footage of the chaos that all of that water created. At one point, floodwaters came roaring through a subway station in Manhattan… Shocking video showed water rushing into the subway system in Manhattan during Monday night’s downpours. Video captured by an eyewitness at 23rd Street and 28th Street on the No. 1 train line showed the water even rushing into the subway car as riders stood on the seats to avoid the water. “What happened last night is something that is a reality for our system that when you hit, when you go north, an inch and three-quarters in an hour, the city sewer system, the storm water system gets backed up and gets overwhelmed and tunnels into the stations,” said MTA CEO and Chair Janno Lieber. New Jersey was hit extremely hard as well. The damage was so bad that New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy actually declared a state of emergency… New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency on Monday night amid the ongoing downpour. ‘I am declaring a State of Emergency given flash flooding and high levels of rainfall in parts of the state,’ he said. ‘Please stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Stay safe, New Jersey.’ Unfortunately, not everyone made it through the flooding safely… At least two people were killed in New Jersey after flash flooding swept away their vehicle during a storm that pounded the Northeast with heavy rains, authorities said Tuesday. The two deaths happened in the northern New Jersey city of Plainfield, when the rushing waters of a brook carried away their vehicle during the height of the storm, city officials said. Their names were not immediately released to the public. What we have been witnessing is just crazy. This week alone I have written about major flooding events in Texas, North Carolina, New Mexico, Illinois, Vermont, New York and New Jersey. And it is being reported that at one stage on Monday there were over 50 million Americans that were under some sort of a flood warning… Throughout the Northeast, more than 50 million Americans are now under varying levels of flood warnings. Shocking footage of the deluge has started circulating on social media, showing gas stations overrun with water, and cars submerged in floodwaters. Have we ever experienced a “national flooding crisis” before? I can’t recall anything like this in my entire lifetime. I know that I keep saying this, but what we are witnessing is not even close to normal. After what we have been through the past week, hopefully more people are starting to understand that.
