Why A Rabbit Appears On This Japanese Samurai Helmet

This Japanese kawari-kabuto‚ or individualized helmet‚ dating from the 17th century sports the shape of a crouching rabbit forged from a single piece of iron. The helmet’s ear guards are shaped like ocean waves. Rabbits are commonly depicted with waves in Japanese art‚ particularly during the early Edo period in the 1600s. It is said that ocean whitecaps resembled white rabbits darting over the waters in the moonlight. A Noh play called Chikubushima which centers around a mystical island has a famous verse referring to a “moon rabbit” darting over the waters. But why would a warrior want to go into battle wearing the image of a rabbit? Was it just about literature or culture? Perhaps the symbol on this helmet is more directly related to battle. In another famous legend called “The Hare of Inaba‚” a white rabbit outsmarts a group of predatory sea creatures by deceiving them and darting across them over the ocean‚ showing not only wisdom but strength and agility. The warrior who chose this helmet may have wanted to express not only a sense of mystical power‚ but also cleverness and speed facing enemies.  this article first appeared in military history quarterly See more stories subscribe now!

Everest Climbers To Bring Poop Down With Them As Mountain Starts To Stink

Mounting piles of human poop are kicking up a stink on Mountain Everest‚ much to the annoyance of local authorities who are now instructing climbers they must bring their dirty business back to base camp. The Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee estimates that literally tons of human excrement have been dumped between Camp One and Camp Four of Mount Everest. Due to the extreme conditions of the high-altitude mountain‚ much of this waste doesn’t fully degrade and can persist for years. To combat the problem‚ Pasang Lhamu rural municipality – the local authority that looks after much of the Everest region – is ordering climbers to buy special poo bags at base camp‚ which will be "checked upon their return"‚ according to BBC News. The bags will contain chemicals that help to solidify the human excrement and reduce its odor. "Our mountains have begun to stink‚" Mingma Sherpa‚ chairman of Pasang Lhamu rural municipality‚ told the BBC."We are getting complaints that human stools are visible on rocks and some climbers are falling sick. This is not acceptable and erodes our image‚" said Mingma. The number of people scaling Everest has significantly increased in the past two decades.Image credit: Statista (CC BY-ND 3.0)Everest's poop problem has been raised before. In 2022‚ Nepal announced it needed to relocate the Everest base camp because climate change and human activity were making it unsafe.Along with warming temperatures destabilizing the icy area‚ local groups were becoming concerned by the amount of trash‚ urine‚ and human excrement that was being littered at the camp. That’s not evening mentioning the long-lost human corpses that are emerging out of the melting ice.The camp's relocation was eventually scrapped‚ but the impact of human activity has continued to grow. All of these issues are being fuelled by the sheer amount of people who are attempting to scale Everest’s summit nowadays. Expeditions have become increasingly accessible and popular over the past two decades‚ causing the mountain to become dangerously overcrowded with traffic jams of climbers.Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to conquer Mount Everest in 1953. Just seven decades on‚ over 6‚664 different people have scaled its summit – and this once-pristine environment is starting to feel the strain.

New Temperature-Sensing Prosthetic Limb Helps Users Feel A Human Touch

New Temperature-Sensing Prosthetic Limb Helps Users Feel A Human Touch

For the first time‚ according to the team of scientists behind the innovation‚ natural temperature sensation has been incorporated into a functioning prosthetic limb. The device‚ called MiniTouch‚ can be integrated into any commercial prosthesis without the user having to undergo surgery‚ and restores a more human-like touch that many would consider to be permanently lost after amputation. For test user 57-year-old Fabrizio‚ whose hand was amputated at the wrist more than three decades ago‚ his first experience with the new device was powerful.“When one of the researchers placed the sensor on his own body‚ I could feel the warmth of another person with my phantom hand. [I]t was a very strong emotion for me‚ it was like reactivating a connection with someone‚” Fabrizio said in a statement. But there are practical benefits too. Our brains rely on sensory feedback constantly as we navigate our environment. Feeling temperature is an important part of our sense of touch‚ but according to co-senior study author Silvestro Micera‚ it’s also “one of the last frontiers to restoring sensation to robotic hands.”Micera added in another statement‚ “For the first time‚ we’re really close to restoring the full palette of sensations to amputees.”In tests‚ Fabrizio was able to use the MiniTouch to sort objects of different temperatures. When presented with three identical bottles containing cold‚ cool‚ and hot water‚ respectively‚ the MiniTouch allowed him to distinguish between them with 100 percent accuracy‚ compared to just 33 percent without the device. Similarly impressive results were seen when Fabrizio was tasked with sorting metal cubes of different temperatures.Thermal imaging shows the different temperatures of the cubes that Fabrizio was asked to sort.Image credit: EPFL CailletThe MiniTouch works by transmitting thermal information that it senses from the fingertips of the prosthesis to the nerves in the amputee’s residual arm. Because it's compatible with commercial prostheses‚ there's no need to produce a whole new specialized device for users to start reaping the benefits. When Fabrizio was blindfolded and asked to differentiate between human and prosthetic arms‚ the MiniTouch improved his accuracy from 60 to 80 percent. But it was still not perfect‚ and the researchers think this is because the sensation of things like skin softness and texture remained limited.Fabrizio was blindfolded and asked to tell the difference between a human arm and a prosthesis.Image credit: Med‚ Muheim and Iberite et al“When you reach a certain level of dexterity with robotic hands‚ you really need to have sensory feedback to really be able to use the robotic hand to its full potential‚” said co-senior author Solaiman Shokur.“Our goal now is to develop a multimodal system that integrates touch‚ proprioception‚ and temperature sensations. With that type of system‚ people will be able to tell you ‘this is soft and hot‚’ or ‘this is hard and cold.”After this testing‚ which followed promising earlier results‚ the scientists say their device is ready to go from a technical perspective. More safety tests and other improvements will be needed before it can be made available for clinical use‚ however. In the future‚ we could see the MiniTouch combining inputs from multiple points on a prosthetic limb‚ such as allowing people to feel touch on the back of their hand.Prosthetic technology dates back a surprisingly long way‚ but it is improving all the time – even our animal friends can get in on the action. The team hopes the MiniTouch will provide a neat solution to one of the persistent challenges with these kinds of devices.“This study paves the way for more natural hand prostheses that restore a full range of sensations‚ offering amputees a richer and more natural perception of the tactile world‚” Micera concluded. The study is published in the journal Med.

There’s An African Penguin Baby Boom In A California Aquarium‚ And It’s Adorable

There’s An African Penguin Baby Boom In A California Aquarium‚ And It’s Adorable

Here’s a spot of happy Friday news for you: the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco‚ California‚ has recently seen a bounty of African penguin chicks hatching – and‚ predictably‚ they are 100 percent adorable.Between November 2022 and January this year‚ a total of 10 African penguin chicks have hatched at the aquarium‚ which is quite the uptick compared to the previous rate of hatchings. “To hatch 10 chicks in just 14 months is truly remarkable‚ especially if you consider the previous 10 chicks hatched over a period of 10 years‚” said Steinhart Aquarium biologist Sparks Perkins in a statement. I'm not crying‚ you are.Image credit: Nicole RavicchioThe chicks are the result of a breeding program spearheaded by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums‚ which recruited three pairs of penguin parents with the task of maintaining the genetic diversity of the species. The latest proud parents are Parker and Tux‚ whose first chick was hatched in January – though it’s yet to be named and sexed. After a 21-day period spent chilling with who we’re calling #Pux‚ the little fuzzball will go on to join its fellow baby penguins at “fish school”‚ which frankly‚ sounds like a delightful place to be. As well as playing with paint‚ bubbles‚ laser pointers‚ and ice cakes‚ the young birds learn how to swim on their own and eat fish given to them by their human caretakers.     Around three months later‚ their new skills are put to the test; the team makes sure that they can eat‚ swim‚ and get in and out of the water on their own‚ as well as checking they are adequately buoyant and waterproof. After that‚ the chicks are introduced into the colony – and‚ eventually‚ will hopefully become parents in the breeding program themselves. With only 9‚000 breeding pairs of African penguins left in the wild‚ the species is currently classed as endangered.“African Penguins are such a charismatic species‚ but sadly threats like overfishing‚ habitat degradation‚ and oil spills have had a devastating effect on wild populations‚” said Brenda Melton‚ director of animal care and wellbeing at Steinhart Aquarium and member of the African Penguin Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE) steering committee. “These issues extend beyond penguins‚ too— the birds are a visible indicator for the marine environment‚ and when we see penguin colonies in decline we know there’s trouble for other marine species.”     There have been significant efforts to tackle these issues and conserve the species‚ which has seen biologists hand-rear abandoned eggs and chicks and release them back into their environment. The recent success of the breeding program is an important step in protecting the penguins under the care of zoos and aquariums too‚ in more ways than one.“Every chick we welcome strengthens the genetics and overall population of the species in human care‚” said Melton. “More than a million people come through the museum each year‚ which is an incredible opportunity to educate about these birds and the challenges they face in the wild‚ and hopefully ignite care for all animals facing threats and endangerment.”

Anti-Cop 'ACAB' Hate Taints NBC's New Crime Drama 'The Irrational'

NBC’s new crime drama The Irrational had been interesting‚ entertaining and intriguing to watch‚ somehow managing to avoid typical leftist propaganda and delivering entertainment everyone can enjoy. That is until the last two episodes went “ACAB.” On last week’s episode‚ “Scorched Earth‚” it was a brief and fleeting moment of anti-cop hate as a female suspect with purple hair - because‚ of course - wanted for questioning in an arson investigation spits on main character Detective Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin)‚ calling him a “pig” and shouting‚ “All cops are bastards!” Tyler: Hey‚ stop! Marisa: There's another one? What the hell? FBI! Stop! Come on. Don't move. I said don't move. Tyler: Wait a sec. Kat? Alec: Who's your blonde friend? Kat: Eat it‚ pig! All cops are bastards! The reason Kat (Olivia Kate Iatridis) ran was to distract the authorities from her girlfriend Dara was because she's terrified of her family finding out she’s gay. Kat tells them Dara will be kicked out of her house if they find out‚ and an officer who knows both girls remarks‚ “Dara’s family is super traditional. Makes sense.” Yes‚ because obviously anyone in a traditional family who believes homosexuality is wrong or a sin is automatically heartless‚ evil and incapable of loving their own child just because they have different beliefs. /sarcasm In this week’s episode‚ “Cheating Life‚” Alec’s sister Kylie‚ who is (surprise!) gay‚ finds herself attracted to a police officer‚ which is problematic for Kylie because‚ as she’s made clear‚ she “doesn’t date cops." Apparently in Kylie’s mind‚ the supposed evil of being a police officer trumps everything else. Things take a turn in the end‚ however‚ when Detective Morgan Hall (Paloma Nozicka) lets Kylie know she didn’t like cops‚ either‚ but she needed to pay her rent and the “staties” were the only ones offering a decent paycheck. It’s bothered her for years‚ but she feels a sense of pride now that she has a purpose - to stop all cops from being bastards on the inside: Alec: I have something I don't think you want to hear. You and Morgan‚ you like her. I know you don't date cops. Sometimes we gotta break the rules. Kylie: I don't like you. Alec: Go out there and talk to her. Kylie: Hey‚ Morgan. I'm just gonna spit this out. I like you. But— Morgan: You don't like cops. I get it. I used to feel the same way. Kylie: So‚ what changed? Morgan: The truth is‚ I needed to make rent. And Staties were the only ones hiring with a decent paycheck. And... I have struggled with it over the years. But if people like me aren't around to make things better‚ then how will things change? So‚ I stick with it. And that gives me a sense of pride. It's like every day I wake up‚ and I have a purpose. Kylie: Guess I'm searching for what you have‚ purpose... but with six figures. Morgan: Well‚ it's only five figures. But if you're looking‚ you are kind of good at this solving crime thing. Kylie: Me‚ a cop? Girl. How about we start... with me going on a date with one? Perhaps this show got its name from these irrational storylines? Let’s hope they get back to their original‚ non-political episodes and leave the propaganda behind.

Colbert‚ Meyers Struggle To Cope With Colorado's Bad Day At SCOTUS

CBS’s Stephen Colbert and NBC’s Seth Meyers struggled to cope with Colorado having a bad day before the Supreme Court as it struggled to defend its decision to kick Donald Trump off its primary ballot on the Thursday editions of The Late Show and Late Night‚ respectively. Colbert struggled with the fact that even the Court’s liberals appeared to be underwhelmed by Colorado’s arguments‚ “All of the justices‚ all nine‚ seemed skeptical that one state could do this on their own. Here's Elena Kagan.”     He then played a soundbite of Kagan wondering where states get the authority to declare a candidate engaged in a federal insurrection‚ “This question of whether a former president is disqualified for insurrection to be president again is‚ just say it‚ it sounds awfully national to me.” For Colbert‚ a state adding to Article II’s eligibility standards and disqualifying a candidate is the exact same thing as a state’s voters simply voting for their preferred candidate‚ as he sarcastically ranted‚ “Yes‚ it's a national decision. Can you imagine if one single state was allowed to decide who gets to be president? Today it's Colorado‚ next time it could be Florida! I'm sorry‚ they what? No‚ they didn't. President Gore would never allow that to happen!” At least Colbert managed to concede that skepticism of Colorado’s argument is not confined to the Court’s conservatives because the same could not be said for Meyers. About an hour later‚ “During today's hearing‚ the justices seemed supportive of Trump and very skeptical of throwing him off the ballot‚ which was expected given that Trump appointed three of the justices on the Court and another three are staunch conservatives‚ like Clarence Thomas‚ who is somehow still involved in this case despite the fact that his wife‚ Ginni Thomas‚ played a role in the January 6th coup attempt.” After playing some old clips of MSNBC’s Chris Hayes and Michael Smerconish on Ginni Thomas’s post-2020 election behavior‚ Meyers demanded that‚ “Clarence Thomas recuse himself from this.” Later in his diatribe‚ Meyers would repeat himself‚ “Seriously‚ how is it possible that Thomas has not recused himself from this case? His spouse was directly involved.” Ultimately‚ Colbert and Meyers prepared for this case by entering their echo chambers that told them that the case against Trump was so obvious that only a hack could say otherwise. Thursday’s arguments proved just the opposite and they don’t know how to cope. Here is a transcript for the February 8-taped shows: CBS The Late Show with Stephen Colbert 2/8/2024 11:44 PM ET STEPHEN COLBERT: All of the justices‚ all nine‚ seemed skeptical that one state could do this on their own. Here's Elena Kagan.  ELENA KAGAN: I think that the question that you have to confront is why a single state should decide who gets to be president of the United States. In other words‚ you know‚ this question of whether a former president is disqualified for insurrection to be president again is‚ just say it‚ it sounds awfully national to me.  COLBERT: Yes‚ it's a national decision. Can you imagine if one single state was allowed to decide who gets to be president? Today it's Colorado‚ next time it could be Florida! I'm sorry‚ they what? No‚ they didn't. President Gore would never allow that to happen!    *** NBC Late Night with Seth Meyers 2/9/2024 12:42 AM ET SETH MEYERS: During today's hearing the justices seemed supportive of Trump and very skeptical of throwing him off the ballot‚ which was expected given that Trump appointed three of the justices on the Court and another three are staunch conservatives‚ like Clarence Thomas‚ who is somehow still involved in this case despite the fact that his wife‚ Ginni Thomas‚ played a role in the January 6th coup attempt. In fact‚ she personally lobbied state lawmakers in Wisconsin and Arizona to overturn the election results and repeatedly texted Trump's chief of staff at the time‚ Mark Meadows‚ about some truly unhinged conspiracy theories. CHRIS HAYES [APRIL 1‚ 2022]: The Washington Post obtained copies of messages that had been turned over to the January 6th Committee revealing that Ginni Thomas sent former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows a barrage of texts in the weeks after the 2020 election‚ urging him to try to overturn the results.  MICHAEL SMERCONISH [MARCH 26‚ 2022]: Right after the election‚ she quoted to Meadows the language then circulating on pro-Trump sites. Quote‚ “Biden crime family and ballot fraud co-conspirators‚ elected officials‚ bureaucrats‚ social media censorship mongers‚ fake stream media reporters‚ et cetera‚ are being arrested and detained for ballot fraud right now and over coming days‚ and will be living in barges off Gitmo to face military tribunals for sedition‚” adding‚ "I hope this is true."  MEYERS: Not only should Clarence Thomas recuse himself from this Ginni Thomas should recuse herself from texting on her phone. “Ginni‚ what are you smiling at over there?”  "Oh‚ just writing something funny about Gitmo.” She thought the quote‚ “Biden crime family” was being arrested for ballot fraud and would be detained on barges off Guantanamo Bay -- here my question: why couldn't the Biden crime family just be detained on land?  Why do they have to be on water? Is the idea here that Biden could never escape because he can't swim. I mean‚ look‚ if you surrounded Trump with a one-foot-wide moat‚ I think he would die there. But Biden definitely strikes me as one of those old guys who spends hours doing laps at the Y with his little paddle board and swim cap. He's there at 6:00 A.M. sharp‚ swims for an hour‚ and then spends another two hours air drying his junk in the locker room. You know those old guys who just love to hang out in the locker room completely naked while they do other stuff. Sometimes I swear I've seen a bunch of naked 80-year-olds in a semicircle doing their weekly book club in there. Then they just finish and use their balls as a bookmark. Seriously‚ how is it possible that Thomas has not recused himself from this case? His spouse was directly involved. It'd be like if I told a joke in my monologue about a Florida woman who tried to smuggle meth onto a flight inside of a pet snake but didn't tell you that woman was my wife and the meth was mine now you know why I talk so fast.

‘SNL’ canned Shane Gillis‚ but Alec Baldwin did worse

‘SNL’ canned Shane Gillis‚ but Alec Baldwin did worse

“Saturday Night Live” is sorry it hired‚ then fired comedian Shane Gillis. The rebel comic got added to the Not Ready for Prime-Time Players lineup in 2019 before‚ just days after the announcement‚ “SNL” let him go after his offensive jokes “resurfaced.” His sins included crude comments about Asian-Americans and gay people‚ riffs ripped from his various podcast appearances over the years. Team NBC said Gillis’ “hurtful” language wasn’t a match for the oft-bawdy showcase. Gillis could have slinked off to obscurity after losing the gig of a lifetime. Instead‚ he went back to work and built his profile to the point where “SNL” invited him to host the venerable showcase Feb. 24. "We want SNL to have a variety of voices and points of view within the show. ... The language he used is offensive‚ hurtful and unacceptable. We are sorry that we did not see these clips earlier‚ and that our vetting process was not up to our standard." Gillis could have slinked off to obscurity after losing the gig of a lifetime. Instead‚ he went back to work and built his profile to the point where “SNL” invited him to host the venerable showcase Feb. 24. Even the New York Times admitted Gillis has bounced back in dramatic fashion following the firing. Since getting fired from “Saturday Night Live” in 2019 after videos surfaced of him using Asian and gay slurs on a podcast‚ Gillis has built perhaps one of the fastest-growing comedy careers in America. His debut special‚ released on YouTube in 2021‚ racked up a staggering 14 million views‚ and he’s the most popular podcaster on Patreon with more than 71‚000 paying listeners. He regularly sells out theaters. Don’t be surprised if he becomes an arena act. The irony is rich beyond the fact that a fading institution like “SNL” needs Gillis more than he needs it five years later. Pot‚ meet kettle “SNL” has a poor track record when it comes to women and minorities. Most of the show’s hosts were white up until recently. Black cast members often chafed under the show’s system‚ either leaving after a short run or never catching on. Eddie Murphy proved a glorious exception. Chris Rock’s brief “SNL” tenure speaks volumes. He became a comedy superstar following his exit. Baldwin grabbed a female journalist by the arm and said‚ “I want to choke you to death‚” comments she recorded on audiotape Women also suffered along the way‚ according to former staffers who called the show’s professional atmosphere “incredibly sexist.” Original cast member Jane Curtin recalled the show’s abject sexism behind the scenes. “There were a few people that just out-and-out believe that women should not have been there and they believe that women were not innately funny‚” said the first female anchor of SNL‘s “Weekend Update” segment. “So those were the experiences that I had that were sexist.” And then there’s the copious drug use in the show’s early days. Few TV programs have as many skeletons in the closet as “SNL.” Seems more “hurtful” than a few poorly realized riffs‚ no? The Baldwin exception And then there’s Alec Baldwin. The “30 Rock” alum never officially joined the show’s cast. He just played President Donald Trump week after week‚ year after year during the real estate mogul’s White House reign. The show looked the other way at Baldwin’s rap sheet‚ like the rest of Hollywood. We all recall the time Baldwin called his 11-year-old daughter a “thoughtless little pig‚” a voicemail message that went viral before the term hit the zeitgeist. His ongoing war against the paparazzi got physical in 2012 when he wrestled with a shutterbug trying to take his picture in public. The actor claimed the photographer started the physical confrontation. A year later‚ Baldwin grabbed a female journalist by the arm and said‚ “I want to choke you to death‚” comments she recorded on audiotape. In the same exchange he lashed out at the outlet’s black staff photographer‚ allegedly calling him a “coon” and a “drug dealer‚” according to the journalist’s police statement. That same year he hurled an anti-gay slur at a photographer and later apologized. He’s been kicked off of an airline for abusive behavior and battled a fellow New Yorker over a parking spot dispute. NBC refused to share a comment regarding the latter fracas. Age hasn’t mellowed the Trump impersonator. Cruz-ing for a bruising? In 2021 he raged against Sen. Ted Cruz‚ demanding the Texas Republican be put “in the stocks and throw rotten fruit and buckets of horse piss at him. Then ride him on a rail. Then tar and feather him. And film it. For Netflix‚” he said via Twitter. Yet “SNL” cut him paycheck after paycheck so he could mock President Trump. No punishments. No tsk-tsking over his terrible behavior‚ both verbal and physical. “SNL” deserves some credit for granting Gillis some grace. Maybe he’ll knock it out of the park as the host and show everyone what he could have brought to the aging show. Or maybe he’ll use his opening monologue to note how hypocritical the sketch series is for punishing him without considering the show’s sordid history.

Justice Alito contemplates in thinly veiled hypothetical whether Biden could be taken off ballots for aiding Iran

Justice Samuel Alito hinted Thursday that former President Donald Trump's removal from the ballot in Colorado could spell trouble for President Joe Biden. Jason Murray‚ the lawyer for the six voters seeking to preclude their fellow Americans from voting for Trump in the Centennial State‚ attempted to make the disqualification case Thursday to the U.S. Supreme Court. It did not go well. Conservative and leftist justices alike poked holes in Murray's arguments concerning the alleged application of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to presidents and Trump's corresponding disqualification. In addition to demonstrating that Murray's arguments were wanting — arguments endorsed in December by the Democratic appointees on the Colorado Supreme Court — the U.S. Supreme Court highlighted significant implications of a Trump disqualification that may come back to bite Democrats and further destabilize the Union. Justice Samuel Alito contemplated whether the application of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to presidents might pave the way for states to remove a president such as Joe Biden if accused of giving "aid or comfort to the enemies" of the United States. "Suppose there is a country that proclaims again and again and again that the United States is its biggest enemy‚" said Alito. "And suppose that the president of the United Sates‚ for diplomatic reasons‚ thinks that it is in the best interest of the United States to provide funds or release funds so that they can be used by that country." "Could a state determine that that person has given aid and comfort to the enemy and therefore keep that person off of the ballot?" asked Alito. Iran routinely threatens the United States. The regime's minister of defense said in November that if the U.S. did not implement a ceasefire in Gaza‚ it would "be hit hard‚" reported Reuters. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi vowed in September to take revenge on the Americans who ordered and engaged in the assassination of Iranian terrorist Qassim Suleimani. Despite such threats‚ indications that Iran was involved in the Oct. 7 terror attacks on Israel‚ and warnings from Republicans that the Iranian regime could use the money to increase its funding of Hamas‚ Hezbollah‚ and Houthi terrorists‚ the Biden administration released $6 billion in frozen assets to Iran. Murray answered Alito in the negative‚ saying‚ "This court has never interpreted the aid-and-comfort language‚ which also is present in the Treason Clause. But commentators have suggested — it's been rarely applied because treason prosecutions are so rare — but commentators have suggested that‚ first of all‚ that aid and comfort really only applies in the context of a declared war or at least an adversarial relationship where there is in fact a war." The U.S. executed scores of airstrikes earlier this month on Iran-backed terrorist groups‚ which might also indicate an adversarial relationship. Conservative commentator Larry Kudlow argued last week that by sponsoring 166 attacks against U.S. military assets‚ the regime has effectively declared war against the U.S. 166 times. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito smacks Joe Biden during Donald Trump's 14th Amendment Case before SCOTUS.\n\n"Suppose there is a country that proclaims again and again and again that the United States is its biggest enemy‚ and suppose that the president of the United States for\u2026 — (@) Alito was not the only Supreme Court justice who contemplated the ramifications of Trump's disqualification and the potential for Section 3 weaponization by partisans. Roberts suggested that if Colorado's position is upheld‚ "surely there will be disqualification proceedings on the other side‚ and some of those will succeed." "Some of them will have different standards of proof. Some of them will have different rules about evidence‚" continued Roberts. "In very quick order‚ I would expect‚ although my predictions have never been correct‚ I would expect that a goodly number of states will say whoever the Democratic candidate is‚ you're off the ballot‚ and others for the Republican candidate‚ you're off the ballot." "It'll come down to just a handful of states that are going to decide the presidential election‚" said Chief Justice John Roberts. "That's a pretty daunting consequence." Like Blaze News?
