According to the December 15 Facebook post‚ a stranger left a pair of wedding rings (an engagement ring and a wedding band) and a touching note in the kettle outside the Market Basket grocery store in Waltham. The note‚ typed in a pseudo-handwriting font with a crimson heading‚ read‚ "This ring is being given in love for a second time. Scientists with Moderna‚ a manufacturer of experimental mRNA COVID-19 shots‚ released a paper saying the technology used in the gene therapy carries toxicity risks. The paper‚ titled ‘Strategies to reduce the risks of mRNA drug and vaccine toxicity’‚ was published by Nature Reviews Drug Discovery on January 23rd. “mRNA formulated with lipid nanoparticles is a transformative technology that has enabled the rapid development and administration of billions of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine doses worldwide. However‚ avoiding unacceptable toxicity with mRNA drugs and vaccines presents challenges‚” the paper read. “Lipid nanoparticle structural components‚ production methods‚ route of administration and proteins produced from complexed mRNAs all present toxicity concerns. Here‚ we discuss these concerns‚ specifically how cell tropism and tissue distribution of mRNA and lipid nanoparticles can lead to toxicity‚ and their possible reactogenicity‚” it continued. “We focus on adverse events from mRNA applications for protein replacement and gene editing therapies as well as vaccines‚ tracing common biochemical and cellular pathways‚” the scientists added.
