University of Sydney shuts down student protest calling for a new intifada

The University of Sydney has shut down an event promoting a “global intifada” after promotional materials for the event displayed a bulldozer that was being used by Hamas crashing through an Israeli security fence. The event was being held by a socialist group. “Intifada” itself is a phrase that means "uprising" in Arabic. It has been co-opted by Palestinians and the Muslim Brotherhood to characterize their hatred for Israel as well as their desire to wipe Jews off the planet. Mark Levin is well aware that socialists throwing the phrase around and hosting such an event is no accident. “The Marxists and the Islamists‚ they overlap. They both hate America. They hate Israel. They hate the West‚” Levin explains. “They wish to impose their ideology on how they want to rejigger human beings on the rest of the planet‚ and if you don’t go along‚ you’re to be killed‚” he adds. This is why‚ historically‚ Marxism has led to the deaths of millions and enslaved even more. On a smaller scale‚ Islamism has killed hundreds of thousands and enslaved even more. “If you don’t comply‚ you will be killed. And so‚ they massacre populations of people who have a different faith. People who practice Islam differently than they do — they’re sub-humans‚ they’re non-humans‚” Levin says. “So‚ whether it’s the Marxist ideology or the Islamist ideology‚ they overlap‚” he adds. US forces fend off 10-hour attack of drones and missiles from Iran-backed rebels in the Red Sea

U.S. forces in the Middle East repelled an onslaught by Iranian-supported forces in Yemen that sent 12 attack drones and missiles at American ships. The attack of missiles and drones‚ often referred to as suicide drones‚ reportedly started at 6:30 a.m. and lasted 10 hours‚ according to a post on X from United States Central Command:"U.S. assets‚ to include the USS LABOON (DDG 58) and F/A-18 Super Hornets from the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group‚ shot down twelve one-way attack drones‚ three anti-ship ballistic missiles‚ and two land attack cruise missiles in the Southern Red Sea that were fired by the Houthis over a 10 hour period which began at approximately 6:30 a.m. (Sanaa time) on December 26."Shockingly‚ or perhaps in a show of American might‚ CENTCOM reported "no damage to ships in the area or reported injuries."After shooting down the drones‚ the USS Laboon responded to distress calls from two commercial vessels‚ according to the Daily Mail. The USS Laboon is a guided-missile destroyer first commissioned in 1995. It is not part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group‚ which consists of an aircraft carrier‚ a guided-missile cruiser‚ two other guided-missile destroyers‚ and more. U.S. assets‚ to include the USS LABOON (DDG 58) and F/A-18 Super Hornets from the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group‚ shot down twelve one-way attack drones‚ three anti-ship ballistic missiles‚ and two land attack cruise missiles in the Southern Red Sea that were fired by the\xe2\x80\xa6 — (@) The Iran-backed Houthis have recently been the most prominent agitators of U.S. naval forces in the region. After the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003‚ the group allegedly adopted the slogan "God is great‚ death to the U.S.‚ death to Israel‚ curse the Jews‚ and victory for Islam."In late October 2023‚ a destroyer called the USS Carney shot down three land attack cruise missiles and several drones operated by the Houthis.Less than a month later‚ another destroyer named the Thomas Hudner shot down a Houthi drone making its way toward the American ship from Yemen. In late November 2023‚ "two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen" near the USS Mason‚ a guided-missile destroyer. No damages or injuries were reported.Lastly‚ a Houthi drone attack in early December 2023 was again thwarted by the USS Carney. At the time‚ Brigadier General Yahya Saree‚ a spokesman for the Houthis‚ issued a renewed "warning to all Israeli ships or those associated with Israelis that they will become a legitimate target" if the "Israeli aggression" in the Gaza Strip does not stop.Like Blaze News? The harsh realities of California's new minimum wage law set in — leaving Pizza Hut delivery drivers‚ costumers on the hook

The harsh realities of California's new minimum wage law set in — leaving Pizza Hut delivery drivers‚ costumers on the hook

More than 1‚200 Pizza Hunt delivery drivers in California will be laid off next year‚ and they have state lawmakers to thank. In September‚ Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed into law a bill forcing national fast-food chains that operate in California to pay their employees a minimum of $20 per hour‚ effective April 1‚ 2024. That's a significant increase from the state-mandated minimum wage of $16 per hour‚ which will take effect on Jan. 1‚ 2024.Labor groups and Democrats praised the law and claimed it will protect fast-food workers. But the negative consequences of the law are already being felt. Two major Pizza Hut operators — PacPizza‚ LLC‚ and Southern California Pizza Co.‚ along with their affiliates — have filed documents informing the government of their plans to lay off their delivery drivers as part of a broader plan to eliminate their in-house delivery services‚ Business Insider reported. The franchisees operate stores across California. Ultimately‚ more than 1‚200 delivery drivers will lose their jobs. Now‚ customers who want delivery from the impacted restaurants will be forced to use third party apps — like DoorDash‚ GrubHub‚ and Uber Eats — to order their Pizza Hut delivery. This means that costumers will pay more overall for their pizza because of the fees associated with the apps. The unfortunate news demonstrates one of the key problems with government-mandated minimum wage increases: business-owners do not absorb the increased cost of labor. In the case of these Pizza Hut operators‚ they are decreasing the size of their workforce to pay for the forced-increase of labor. The second option is to pass the increased cost of labor to consumers. That is exactly what McDonald's and Chipotle are doing. After the bill became law‚ both fast-food chains said they will increase menu prices to offset the forced increase in employee wages. 'Shut the f*** up': Sen. Fetterman has a blunt request for James Carville over his 2024 predictions

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) has a blunt request for Democratic strategist James Carville: "shut the f*** up."In a wide-ranging interview with Politico‚ Fetterman addressed the juxtaposition of his enthusiasm for President Joe Biden's re-election and the president's abysmal poll numbers."[T]hat doesn't really matter‚" Fetterman said of the polls. "There's a whole lifetime in politics between now and next November as well. I'm not worried about that.""I'll use this [as] another opportunity to tell James Carville to shut the f*** up‚" Fetterman continued. "Like I said‚ my man hasn't been relevant since grunge was a thing. And I don't know why he believes it's helpful to say these kinds of things about an incredibly difficult circumstance with an incredibly strong and decent and excellent president. I'll never understand that."Carville‚ a key strategist behind Bill Clinton's winning presidential campaigns‚ has been warning Democrats not to ignore Biden's poll numbers. In September‚ for example‚ Carville said that "somebody better wake the f*** up" in the Democratic Party and recognize that Biden is vulnerable to losing to Donald Trump in a re-match. In fact‚ Carville said that if the election were held today‚ Trump would be the odds-on favorite to win.Carville doubled down on that sentiment two weeks ago‚ telling CNN he is "very pessimistic" about Democrats' chances to win the 2024 election. And when asked if he believes Biden would lose the election if it were held today‚ Carville snarked‚ "Me and everybody else." Carville also revealed in that interview that he believes it is possible Democrats will ultimately nominate someone other than Biden for president. For his part‚ Carville dismissed Fetterman's criticisms.Carville told Politico that other Democratic senators "apparently haven't gotten the memo yet" about his purported irrelevancy. "His colleague Sen. [Bob] Casey asked me to host a fundraiser with him last week‚" Carville explained. "Sen. [Sherrod] Brown asked me to go to Cleveland to campaign with him." Like Blaze News? Here’s why the iPhone 15 Pro’s battery life is so disappointing to me

Here’s why the iPhone 15 Pro’s battery life is so disappointing to me

On Christmas Eve‚ Apple aired an iPhone 15 Plus commercial all about battery life. The iPhone 15 Plus has the best battery of any iPhone‚ as it can last up to 13 hours and 19 minutes compared to 11 hours and 41 minutes for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. While Pro Max users can't complain‚ as an iPhone 15 Pro owner‚ I'm disappointed with how often I have to charge my phone. Apple's ad features an electrical outlet that comes to life to sing Doe Boy’s Way Too Long as an iPhone 15 Plus owner uses the phone around the house. The song choice is hilarious‚ perfectly matching the iPhone 15 Plus battery experience. Unfortunately‚ after using the iPhone 15 Pro for the past three months‚ I've been charging it twice daily. At first‚ I convinced myself that it was a result of Apple indexing my new phone‚ but days became weeks‚ then months‚ and the battery was still subpar. After blaming third-party apps‚ the company even rolled out software updates to address the issue‚ but I'm not seeing improvements. Most days‚ I need to charge my iPhone in the afternoon to ensure it lasts until I go to bed. And if I plan to go out after work‚ I have to charge the iPhone 15 Pro if I want it to last me until I get home. In addition‚ I feel like the iPhone 15 Pro is always a bit warm. If I start using social media apps‚ listening to songs‚ or talking to my friends over iMessage‚ the phone gets warm – and I'm not even using the A17 Pro processor to the fullest extent. If I opt to play a game‚ the battery drains faster‚ and the iPhone gets really warm. While Brazil's summer might be a culprit‚ even on cold days‚ I'll often see "the iPhone needs to cool down before it continues charging‚" the display dimming‚ and so on. I don't know -- it might just be me or it might be my specific iPhone 15 Pro. Either way‚ I'm disappointed that Apple can't give the Pro model the same impressive battery life as the Plus‚ even with new charging features exclusive to the iPhone 15 lineup. My colleague Chris Smith shared several tips and tricks to improve the iPhone's battery life‚ but if I have to start turning off ProMotion and the Always-On Display‚ I might as well buy an iPhone 15 Plus with a 60Hz panel and no third camera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07cKD8GK__c Don't Miss: DXOMARK: iPhone 15 Pro Max outperforms 14 series but battery life is lacking The post Here’s why the iPhone 15 Pro’s battery life is so disappointing to me appeared first on BGR.
