EXCLUSIVE: Republicans Push To Build ‘Alligator Alcatrazes’ All Over The Country

Under President Joe Biden, taxpayer dollars kept illegal immigrants housed in luxury hotels. Now, a Republican congressman has introduced a bill that would reappropriate those funds to states that want to build their own versions of Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz.” North Carolina Rep. Addison McDowell has introduced the ALCATRAZ Act, The Daily Wire can first report. The bill would provide financial support for states that assist ICE’s illegal alien detention efforts by establishing or maintaining detention facilities, a critical component of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign. “Illegal immigrants are here because of the Left’s open border policies. No more.” McDowell told The Daily Wire. “Through codifying President Trump’s executive actions, no longer will illegals be put up in swanky hotels for extended stays. Now they will face swift deportation.” “Through the ALCATRAZ Act, we will rapidly expand our available bed space for illegal aliens and facilitate their swift deportations,” the Republican Congressman added. “We could even see the creation of a Tar Heel Tank right here in North Carolina.” Officially named the Accelerated Logistics and Coordination for Arresting, Transporting, and Removing Aliens Zones Act, the bill would reallocate the funds from the Biden administration’s Shelter and Services Program, which allowed illegal aliens to receive housing at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, to a new fund, called the Detention and Logistics Program. That program would then be used to reimburse state and local governments that build illegal alien detention centers. The legislation comes as Republican-led states have worked with the Trump administration to build illegal alien detention facilities. Hundreds of illegal aliens have been deported from Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz, and both Indiana and Nebraska have announced plans to expand ICE detention capacity with facilities of their own — dubbed the Speedway Slammer and Cornhusker Clink, respectively. “Alligator Alcatraz has provided a model for quickly and efficiently opening new detention facilities to temporarily house illegal aliens before deportation,” McDowell noted. “Instead of housing illegals in swanky hotels, it’s time to expand on this model and disincentivize what has been seen as a free ride.” The increased detention capacity, the Department of Homeland Security says, is critical to increasing the number of illegal alien deportations. The federal agency noted that the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill provided the funding to establish a total of 80,000 new illegal alien detention beds. If passed, the new legislation would also require the Department of Homeland Security to identify wasteful or redundant funding accounts and reallocate the money towards the Detention and Logistics Program.

‘All The Air’s Gone’: Tennessee AG Says SCOTUS Win Deflated Transgender Movement

Nearly two months after winning a landmark Supreme Court case that cemented states’ ability to protect kids from transgender medical procedures, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti says the decision triggered a nationwide reckoning on radical gender ideology.  The case, United States v. Skrmetti, centered on a Tennessee law that prohibited doctors from performing transgender surgeries on kids and giving them puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones. Discussing the impact of the case during an interview in Nashville with The Daily Wire at the National Young Republican Convention, Skrmetti said that the case may have sounded the death knell for radical gender ideology.  “It’s almost like there was a balloon that kept getting filled up and filled up and filled up with this radical ideology. And as soon as it’s popped, all the air’s gone and everybody starts looking around and realizing, you know, maybe they did something they shouldn’t have,” he said, noting that the public’s faith in so-called medical experts had been shattered because of their promotion of transgender ideology.  “The biggest thing that surprised me is that the cultural effect, because it seems like it’s really sparked a lot of introspection about how we got to where we were, and a lot of people kind of went along with what they were hearing from experts are questioning the validity of that,” Skrmetti said. In the years leading up to the Supreme Court clash, hospitals across the country opened gender clinics for kids, and groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association all promoted the life-altering procedures. The ruling coincided with efforts from the Trump administration to crack down on hospitals nationwide that have performed gender procedures on kids. Skrmetti pointed out that some hospitals may now face legal repercussions for performing transgender procedures on kids.  For example, detransitioner Chloe Cole has sued the doctors who oversaw the removal of her breasts and hormone procedures, accusing them of pushing her to medically and surgically attempt to change her gender while she was struggling with mental illness and was incapable of fully consenting as a minor. “If you give a kid a life altering procedure and it turns out that there was any coercion or that they didn’t really consent or that you were doing it knowing about risks that you didn’t disclose or whatever, that could potentially cost some of the hospitals that have done this incredible amounts of money,” Skrmetti said.  Skrimetti said that he was unaware of any hospitals in Tennessee that were not complying with state law, adding that it would be “bonkers” to do so.  End of Summer Sale – Get 40% off New DailyWire+ Annual Memberships The Tennessee official added that he had expected to end up before the Supreme Court at some point during his tenure as attorney general, but that he hadn’t expected it to be such a high-profile case. The case came after the ACLU and the Biden administration sued Tennessee over the law. Tennessee was represented by Matthew Rice, the state’s solicitor general and a former professional baseball player. Skrmetti praised Rice for spending months preparing for oral arguments.  Remembering the atmosphere of the case, Skrmetti described the Supreme Court as “a really special place,” adding that “you feel the weight of history in there.”  Skrmetti added that it was surreal to be sitting so close to the justices of the court alongside Tennessee Solicitor General Matt Rice, who argued the case. He said he didn’t expect ever to have a similar experience again. “I read about them all the time,” he said. “They’re the justices of the Supreme Court, and then all of a sudden, you’re sitting there in a case with your name on it, with Justice Gorsuch and Justice Barrett, like 10 feet away. It almost doesn’t feel real.” Tennessee’s victory at the Supreme Court has already had legal ramifications for other states looking to shield kids from transgender procedures. Last week, a federal appeals court overturned Arkansas’s first-in-the-nation ban on such procedures, citing the Skrmetti ruling.

Mom Asks Girl With Severe Hay Fever How She’s Enjoying The Weather — Her Response Is Hilarious

Runny eyes, nose, and general misery are the common companions of hay fever sufferers. Emma Nicolet’s daughter, Barley, can tell you all about the agony of hay fever. She did just that during a brief conversation with her mom. The girl, in the throes of a major hay fever attack, with runny eyes, congestion, and outright misery, manages to maintain her sense of humor. Barley is 9 years old and answered her mom’s questions with jokes of her own. When asked how she was enjoying the “lovely” weather, Barley answered, “Oh my God, it’s fantastic.” Emma, continuing, then asked the obviously suffering girl, “How’s your hay fever?” Emma responded sarcastically that she forgot about it. Then Emma asked, “Do you want to scoop your eyeballs out and rinse them?” Barley returned with a look that said more than her words, “Oh, yeah.” Hay fever affects an estimated 13 million people in the UK. At least Barley isn’t suffering alone. There are three pollen seasons in the UK: tree pollen, grass pollen, and weed pollen. Predictions are that tree pollen will be worse than normal this year. The typical season runs from March through May or June, but some trees produce pollen as early as January. Image from Wikimedia Commons. It is easy to see where Barley gets her sense of humor. One commenter asked, “Why would you call someone Barley? Are her siblings called Wheat and Rice?” Not missing a beat, Emma responded, “Lentil and Mungbean.” If you have hay fever, you can sympathize with this young girl. For more of this hilarious family, you can follow Emma on Instagram, where she calls herself a “Joyfluencer.” You can follow her podcast, You’re Never the Only One. Please share. Black woman blamed racism after being arrested for death of 11-year-old girl — police say the truth is far more 'horrific'

An investigation by South Carolina police led to the arrest of five people in relation to the brutal beating and death of 11-year-old A’Kyri Bell in June. The girl was hospitalized after her 31-year-old guardian, Camisha McGaskey, called police to her Carolina Forest home on Sago Palm Drive. She later died at the hospital, and the Horry County Coroner's Office labeled the death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.'I feel like they see the color of our skin, and immediately we did something to the little girl. And it was disgusting.'McGaskey accused the police of racism after they arrested her in relation to the girl's death."I feel like they see the color of our skin, and immediately we did something to the little girl," she said to WBTW-TV. "And it was disgusting."She went on to explain her version of what happened to Bell."I sent her upstairs to take a bath with her sister," McGaskey said. "Like 20 minutes later, her sister called and said she passed out. I went up there to provide aid for her, and as soon as I found out that she was unconscious, I dialed 911; I called the police."She also said that police cursed at them and accused them of trafficking after commenting about how they could afford cars and the home."And they told me for a fact, 'I'm going to charge you with something because I know you're not telling me the truth,'" she said. "'I don't know what it is, but I'm going to charge you with something. You're going to go to jail for something.' Just like they're going to find something to charge me with."RELATED: Mother hid from home invader in closet with her baby — then shot thug in the head, police say Police initially charged McGaskey, 21-year-old Alantis Thomas, and 34-year-old Lakesha Burnett with obstruction of justice for allegedly making false statements to police, as well as obscuring evidence. They were booked and released on a $5,000 bond with home detention.Police said HCPD Crime Scene Investigators found that "mops, towels, and bedding were located in trash bags inside of the home," and when they were tested, the items were presumptively positive for blood.McGaskey also said the Department of Social Services had taken seven children from the home.Very soon afterward, McGaskey was charged with murder, and police said she was guilty of a "horrific crime." Prosecutors allege that McGaskey brutally beat Bell in front of other adults who did nothing to help the child. The beatings were also allegedly committed in front of other children in the home. McGaskey, Burnett, and Thomas were charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, and two others were also charged with the same: 20-year-old Darnell Dearmas and 56-year-old Margaret Roberson. McGaskey and Roberson are also charged with human trafficking. "The death of a child is a tragedy. A’Kyri was just 11 years old, and she deserved the same opportunities as all children — to live, learn, and grow — and that was cut short at the hands of others," said Horry County Police Chief Kris Leonhardt. "I'm proud of the hard work our officers and detectives have put into this case, and will be watching with interest as this progresses through the courts."Like Blaze News? Why is the government letting a Chinese-backed company bulldoze sacred US land?

Why is the government letting a Chinese-backed company bulldoze sacred US land?

This summer, like many Americans, I returned to my hometown. The familiar contours of the landscape — the Great Lakes, sand dunes, and lush forests — carried with them memories not only of childhood but of something deeper: a sense of rootedness. Land is never just geography. It holds meaning. And when that meaning comes from religious devotion, religious liberty demands our respect.Religious freedom means little if it only shields believers from fines or jail. It must also protect sacred spaces from destruction. That is why what's happening to the Apache Stronghold — a coalition of San Carlos Apache tribal members and other Native Americans — is not just a local controversy. It's a national shame. The United States government has approved a plan to transfer Oak Flat, a sacred site in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest, to Resolution Copper, a mining company owned in part by foreign interests, including a firm with Chinese stakeholders. Late Monday night, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals issued a temporary restraining order blocking the land exchange at Oak Flat just hours before the swap could have been completed. The panel did not address the merits of the challenge to the deal brought by a group of environmentalists, tribes, and the San Carlos Apache Tribe.President Trump took to Truth Social, labeling those who have challenged the deal as “Anti-American.” With all due respect to the president, this temporary stay is a perfect opportunity to reassess.Sacred rightsFor centuries, the Apache people have worshipped at Oak Flat. To build a massive copper mine here — destroying it permanently — is not only a grievous environmental affront but would erase a sacred space central to tribal faith.A separate lawsuit highlights this latter concern. The Apache Stronghold sued under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the First Amendment’s Free Exercise Clause, arguing that destroying Oak Flat is a direct, government-enabled interference with their religious exercise. But a federal court dismissed the case, claiming, incredibly, that because the land isn’t regulated for religious purposes, the government’s actions don’t count as a burden under RFRA.That is not just a misreading of the law — it is a failure of moral clarity.RFRA, passed in 1993 with broad bipartisan support, ensures that federal government actions burdening religious exercise face the strictest judicial scrutiny. If the law does not protect the Apache from the destruction of their most sacred site, what does it protect?Religious freedom means little if it only shields believers from fines or jail. It must also protect sacred spaces from destruction, especially when the destruction comes at the hands of government-backed corporate interests with foreign ownership.Hear their cryThe injustice of Oak Flat did not go unnoticed by every member of the Supreme Court. When the court denied review of the Apache Stronghold’s petition in May, Justice Neil Gorsuch, joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, issued a sharp dissent: “Before allowing the government to destroy the Apaches’ sacred site, this court should at least have troubled itself to hear their case.”He is right. The court exists to safeguard rights like religious liberty, not to stand aside when those rights are bulldozed — literally.RELATED: Martyrs don't bend the knee — even to the state DNY59/iStock/Getty Images PlusNow, the Apache Stronghold has filed a petition for rehearing, citing the court’s decision earlier this summer in Mahmoud v. Taylor. In Mahmoud, the court sided with parents of faith who sought to opt their children out of exposure to Pride storybooks, a collection of sexually charged books they believed violated their religious beliefs. The ruling affirmed that government cannot force individuals to choose between a public benefit and adherence to their faith. If that principle protects religious families from coerced participation in a school program, surely it should protect the Apache people from the obliteration of their most sacred worship site. Not for saleTo its credit, the Trump administration acted to root out anti-Christian bias in the federal government. That commitment should now extend to protecting the Apache people’s religious exercise. This is not about favoring one faith over another. It's about honoring the American promise that no faith is too small to matter and no people too powerless to be heard.Religious liberty is not a gift from the government. It is a right bestowed by our Creator and safeguarded under the law. While political trends rise and fall, the land endures — and with it our responsibility as stewards. We are entrusted with the care of this beautiful nation, not just for its economic potential but for its deeper meaning.Oak Flat is not a relic. It is a living testament to a people’s enduring faith. Its destruction would not just scar the landscape — it would scar the conscience of the nation. There is still time to change course. The Ninth Circuit may grant relief in the case alleging environment harms. The administration can halt the transfer. And the American people can raise their voices in defense of a principle older than the republic: that some places are sacred and some values are not for sale.Let us be the kind of nation that hears the cry of people of faith, even when it rises from the mountains of Arizona, even when it does not look or sound like our own. Let us be a people who understand that land is more than property — that it can be sacred ground.
